941  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Bitmain Antminer S6 and S7 Speculation on: July 11, 2015, 08:57:08 PM
So, a July miner from Bitmain hasn't happened so far.
942  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Bitcoin Core, Win7, BSOD on: July 11, 2015, 07:24:15 PM
So I've been installing Bitcoin Core v0.10.2 for over a week now on a 2Ghz AMD system having 4G ram and 1TB drivespace with Win7 Pro.  I've had to shut down repeatedly for BSOD failures.  It presently is installing but slowly after putting the Bitcoin Core into Win7 compatibility mode.  Is it running slowly, compared to non-compatibility mode, because of what's described in this article?  http://blogs.msdn.com/b/oldnewthing/archive/2015/07/09/10624293.aspx

Wish I hadn't mentioned that if he went to court in Nassau County to testify he might end up in county jail negotiating for toilet paper from the other prisoners.
944  Economy / Service Discussion / MtGox on: July 03, 2015, 07:23:12 PM

Any rumors or changes in the MtGox situation?  When do I get my bitcoins back?
945  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Bitcoin-qt reindexing again? on: June 30, 2015, 06:11:32 PM
I updated my bitcoin-qt and the newer version, Bitcoin Core, reindexed the blocks.  It shuts down every day and now today it says it has to reindex all the blocks again.

Yesterday I sent ~.1 btc to Coinbase.

Is this maintaining a blockchain getting abusive?  Some kind of scam to force the use of an online wallet that will incur charges?
946  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Blockchain info showing:Got error 157 'Unknown error code' from NDBCLUSTER on: June 10, 2015, 03:22:52 AM
Busy working on a project today so wasn't watching much but found my XP suffering a blue screen of death.  Chkdsk fixed it.  On restarting I see the note that Bitcoin-QT needs an upgrade.  Also I recall sending a signed message to Eligius changing my minimum payout - it never registered.  I'll upgrade tomorrow.
----------------------

Just looked and Coinbase got the btc.
947  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Blockchain info showing:Got error 157 'Unknown error code' from NDBCLUSTER on: June 09, 2015, 04:34:44 PM
So I suppose the smart thing to do is discard the wallet that contains .00000004btc.
948  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Blockchain info showing:Got error 157 'Unknown error code' from NDBCLUSTER on: June 09, 2015, 03:56:04 PM
I tried this:

11:43:40 sendrawtransaction 5a1e334dfa4cfe52a947a5505dc5f56bbf6e6d81493e8e44db9e373f639fd430
11:43:40 TX decode failed (code -22)

A lookup of the code indicates:

RPC_DESERIALIZATION_ERROR = -22, //! Error parsing or validating structure in raw format
949  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Blockchain info showing:Got error 157 'Unknown error code' from NDBCLUSTER on: June 09, 2015, 03:11:21 PM
I wonder if it relates to a hate of satoshi.  My error in not including the entire Eligius payout, besides the transaction fee I mistakenly left .00000004 btc in my wallet, created that .00000004 btc chunk.
950  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Blockchain info showing:Got error 157 'Unknown error code' from NDBCLUSTER on: June 09, 2015, 03:00:35 PM
Does this make sense to anyone?

Yes.

So, is there a Bitcoin-QT timeout that restores the btc if the transaction isn't confirmed in some set time frame?
The node that created and initially broadcast the transaction will re-broadcast the transaction at some set time frame (30 min I think) if the transaction is not confirmed.
Well then there's something very wrong.  I sent the btc two days ago and no confirmations yet:

Did you send it from Blockchain.info wallet or Bitcoin Core? I looked up the tx id and both blockchain.info and blocktrail don't have that transaction, so it was never broadcasted.

I've contacted Coinbase.

I don't understand the transaction rejected.  What happens to the btc?
It stays in the wallet. If the transaction is not broadcasted, the Bitcoins will be unspent and you can still spend them later.

It was broadcast.  My Bitcoin-QT is down now and is scheduled to open a little later but it said something like no confirmations.

The transaction still doesn't show on blockchain.info although the site appears to be functioning normally.

That's over $56 in freshly mined btc missing.

See the payout was .25257809btc and I meant to sent .25207809btc with .0005btc min fee (maintaining a blockchain here) but mistakenly sent .25207805btc + .0005 transaction fee.  But the transaction is being ignored.

Have it also.  Got a payout from Eligius to my Bitcoin-QT.  I then sent the payout to Coinbase but made a math error and left .00000004btc behind.  That transaction has not been processed.  When I checked the transaction on blockchain.info this error appeared: Got error 157 'Unknown error code' from NDBCLUSTER

So, I had been assuming it was somehow relating to my math error.  I see it isn't.
957  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3+ Discussion and Support Thread on: June 05, 2015, 06:25:18 PM
Well, I'm done for now.  I was mistakenly working with an old cost/kw, thinking the base was 7½¢ per but now the base is up over 8¢ and realistically working the gross cost per kw, 10.147¢.  I was running two S3's, 1½ S3+'s, two C1's, fans and pumps, window fan, and 1 S5, plus 2 laptops (could have gotten away with one).  Took two days meter readings, 112.5kw each day, then 24 hours no miners, 16kw.  Now there's likely a sliding scale with a lower surcharge with greater usage but this tells me that discounting that my base usage will cost more, it cost me $348 gross per 30.5 day month, $49.52 per month non-mining related, or $298.48 in mining costs (not counting power supply repair parts costs) while I took in ~$247 last month.  Or I lost $51.  I'll go a few days and get a better average for non-mining costs, then fire up the S5 for a day and see what I get.  But it looks like I'm done except in winter and that's relatively short down here in rural Georgia.

That's the harsh reality for low scale miners, hope you will at least ROI after you sell the miners.
Won't sell.  Won't deal with buyers who expect too much or are incompetent.

I have tried everything with my fans DELTA TFC1212DE, nothing to do, perhaps the S5 controller is not compatible, I noticed that if I connect only power the fan runs at full speed 5500 rpm, but too much noise, I tried to reverse the cables from molex, only one sensor, you noticed that part, but then slowly lowers speeds up to die, I do not know what to do, none of you has these fans delta connect directly to the controller S5? and if you work well? Embarrassed Embarrassed Embarrassed

It would be nice if reversing the leads on brushless motor fans reversed the motor direction but no.

.... I wish a company made a copper option with heatpipes,  could make a huge difference for overclocking.

Should not be that hard to fabricate on your own .... just need to find out what thickness of the copper slab to get, slice some slots / channels in it and then split a few copper tubes to for the fins that are slid into the slots. All you are left to do is drilling tapped holes for attaching the PCB. I wonder how cost efficient it would be though for just a handful of units ..... ?

digging up an old post here.....anyone think copper foil/tape would transfer heat to the heat-sink more efficiently? just trying to think of inexpensive ways to cool these S5's down. a 6 yard roll of copper foil is 20$ on amazon....could put a layer of it on the aluminum heat sink then put on some good thermal compound. just brainstorming here.

My goal is to have much lower temps with a less noisy fan. trying to make this more "home miner" friendly so I can take these out of my garage.

I think the thin tape wouldn't move enough heat from the center of the IC.
