End of the war there were huge stores of partly assembled motorcycles, jeeps, cranes, trucks, all in cosmolene, that to prevent an adverse impact on post-war industry on the mainland, were laid to rest in large excavations and covered over. They should be perfectly preserved in the cosmolene. GET RICH QUICK SCHEME: 1) find the valley in which the machines were buried, 2) buy the valley with bitcoins you mined with your Jupiters, 3) request the EPA declare the valley toxic due to the cosmolene, 4) dig up the machines financed with some envirnmental disaster fund. |

Calm down folks. I just posted it to let people know it happens even to developers, and have read what people suggested, but none of those fixed my particular issue. Every time I try one of those fixes things seem to just get a little worse so I'm afraid to touch it now...
Conman - did you try the hard reset - 5 times + 5secs + 5 times? Yep, didn't make a difference. thx & sorry it didnt help. you made it quite clear nothing advised had helped but some people need it literally spelled out to get a clue. what GH/s rate are you getting now? mine has s.l.o.w.l.y crawled up to 530.1Gh/s over the past few days. could be and has been a lot worse. It eventually speeds up to almost normal hashrate, but is laggy as in connecting and never quite averages as much as it used to because of that, making rejects worse too. Maybe it's just coincidence and the problem is elsewhere in my network but the timing with happening from the moment I upgraded to 0.99 is hard to ignore when I haven't changed anything else. Downgrading didn't fix it either. I know its' saturday but just try to join kncminer channel @ freenode, hno's usuallly to be there most of the time. I had seen an effect and it may be unique to my machine but you could look. Case off, I diverted air from the two front fans down onto the BBB. Hashrate rose (in cgminer). Took the cardboard away and the hashrate plummeted. I keep the airflow on the BBB now. As I say it could be unique to my miner. Also, somebody's earlier post described moving a Jupiter closer to the floor and the hashrate dropping. If in moving it closer to the floor he put it too close to a wall so there was some obstruction to the airflow out the back, it would reduce the airflow over the BBB at the front causing a drop in hashrate if his machine reacts to a BBB cooling change with a hashrate change as mine does. |

Maybe I used 2 coolermaster v1000 for November Jupiter
how would that work? I currently use 3 cheap (~$20 each) power supplies to power my 5-asic unit. It is a bit messy, but all you have to do is connect like Cyper said, then make a common ground (connect any black-wire pins between used power supplies). To turn on, I first turn on ASICs, and then beaglebone(+rest ASICs). To turn off, I turn off the one connected to beaglebone, then the remaining asics. Had no problem so far. Similar, I'm using two 360 watt switching supplies, normal usage driving LED signs, and a beaglebone power supply but all to a switched power strip. All off and all on at the same time. Works fine. And yes, common ground. This to drive a Mercury-now-Saturn. |

My unpaid balance is above my payout threshold, but there is nothing showing in the payout queue (totally blank)

I was a few seconds away and jumped to 8 blocks til payout. It does all arrive eventually it seems. Is the preferred payout to new addresses in effect? I see on bitcointax.info that there are choices like on spending Bitcoin, last in first out; or first in first out or averaging. It says if Bitcoins are mixed in an address they can't be separated out. There is suppose to be a tax advantage to one or another scheme. So, wanting us to use new addresses might be to our advantage eventually aside from the reduced ripoff potential. |

Was just curious..... actually, I was thinking of offering 2BTC for any unwanted upgrade cards out there.... plus shipping.... but looking at that...I'd probably get laughed at..... anyone still feel they got overcharged for the boards?....LOL! Hope this isn't too off topic, I see you have considered offering BTC, bartering. All of us paid for our upgrade modules in BTC. Besides KNC forgetting the screws both my modules are running hot. Did anyone put thermal grease in between the aluminum plate and the heatsink or just greased the chip only? Both new modules I put in are running 10 degrees warmer then the other two. Seriously, how warm can these go before there starts to be a problem? I have dies shutting down all over the place on both new modules. I'm only hashing at 540Gh/s and according to BTC Guild, it's only 318Gh/s. Although BTC Guild may need some time to catch up, since it's only been a 10 minutes. Yea, I posted this on the KNC forums too...I want to cover all bases here.

Bitcoinorama mentioned "ghosts in the system", remember ? Now I had a visit. I changed the hosting location to another room. I guess they don't like this ? I shut down miners via " shutdown -h now", then PSU off, after the light turns off. I'm used to do it this way, feels better than hard kill through PSU switch off, what corrupted my system image once ago. Simple Reset did not help, had to disconnect all boards and stuff until it finally worked again. Ok, new location, plug in, start up. The light and everything blinking ok. SSH to miner1 takes longer than usual, but successful. Same for #2. Then cgminer had no connection to the pool on both miners. cmd " route" output looked good, ping from miner 1->2 & 2-> 1 was fine, ping from miner1&2->laptop was fine, ping from laptop to router was fine, ping from miner1+2 -> router TIMEOUT! So confusing  As Next, I shutdown & restarted the network switch, did not help. Then switching ports, cables, plug off/on the power-line ethernet and all other network hardware involved. Miners shutdown as well. Restarted step by step all hardware, tried stuff on its own and as last the miners again. Nothing changed. Still takes ages for ssh to connect, but successful. Setting network config in the webgui did not help either. Looking onto my router none of both has requested an IP address nor assigned, my router told me. All the time I connected via wifi to this router and through it to the miners, to their fixed IPs they get from the router. !! Scratching my head, I thought ok let's see what " ps | grep dhc" shows, then I killed the dhcp-client and restarted it with same parameters shown by the mentioned ps cmd. udhcpc -b -x hostname MyMinersHostname eth0
 BINGO! That helped to scare the ghosts away, router showed me immediately registered clients (both miners), ssh was working as fast as usual again and they were already hashing away when I was checking them. ~30min downtime hurts, I need to learn some digital voodoo or else to prevent similar stuff when changing the location next time While running the Merc with a single module, at times a restart would hang, cat5 RJ54 port lights flashing but no white light and no red/green. I would shut down, move the ribbon cable to another connector on the controller board, reboot, and Bob's my uncle. |

I just got my board about an hour ago. Freaking UPS took all day to deliver the damn thing. It said "Out for delivery" at 5:45AM, and it just got delivered to me at 4:58PM. They took freakin 11 hours just to do a local delivery. Anyway... I added in the [1] upgrade board I ordered. It sits in the front right row, as my Saturn came with the back populated instead of the front. My Saturn also did not come with the air divider that the Jupiter's have, so I had to cut up a piece of cardboard box and divide the air that is coming out of the front board. The rear board was starting to get to 80c. Now my boards are: Mining Status ASIC slot #1 70.5 ℃ (This is the board behind the front board) ASIC slot #2 - ASIC slot #3 69.5 ℃ ASIC slot #4 66.5 ℃ ASIC slot #5 - ASIC slot #6 - Also quick note for other who are getting their upgrade boards: KnC did NOT include screws for the boards to mount to the case, HOWEVER, look in your Arctic cooler box, there should be a bag of screws. The smallest screws there [should be 4 of them] will fit to secure the board to the case. Just use two of them. KnC also did NOT include screws to hold the extra aluminum plate, that they include in your upgrade kit, that hold the plate in place on the cooler. You can use the remaining 2 small screws from the Arctic cooler, and screw in from the bottom up. It is very small, but it is enough to ensure that the plate does not move. On just the two boards, I was averaging 245GH/s (I sent one board in for RMA that was only hashing at half speed, and they sent it back so that it hashed at 3/4 speed) on FW 0.99. After I added in the 3rd board it was hashing at a total of 355GH/s (20 min average). I downgraded the FW to 0.9.8.1(beta), and the rate shot up quickly to 370GH/s within 2-3 minutes. So far after 40 minutes (as of this writing) on FW 0.9.8.1(beta), I am currently averaging 410Gh/s. So it seems the other die that was not working properly might finally be working. If the bad die still wasn't fully working, I would've only been able to hash at a maximum of 389GH/s (245 (previous average) + 144 (best performance expectation)). So for any of you guys that might still have bad dies, and are adding a new module(s); Add in new module in FW 0.99 and let it run for a few mins to see how it goes, if things aren't better, try out FW 0.9.8.1(beta) Hope this helps someone! I'm very happy that my unit is finally working close to as it should be! :-) EDIT: This is off KnC topic but I've gotta ask (and I didn't want to add another off topic post) because I'm confused with what is going with the Eligius pool. I didn't fasten the bar to the permanent piece on the i30 - probably should have. Did remove the plastic. Did take the time to position the cooling tower as exactly centered, fore and aft, on the module while side to side I judged by the relative position of the permanent bar on the i30 and the clamp down bar. Interestingly looking at the exposed corners of the ASIC module there seems to be more exposed under the original (an A30?). I don't think there's more copper on the i30 than the A30, is there? Probably just these aging eyes. |

New module in and my Merc is now a Saturn. Interestingly, the new module is running 11°C cooler than the original. Stats look good.

I must say since I'm use to looking at cgminer with a number of USB BE's, each with its own descriptive line, when I saw only KNC0 I started troubleshooting - until I realized it was hashing at 280 not 140.

I purchased 2 of the recent fire-sale modules for my 4-port Jupiter, but needed to add a couple of pin headers to support all six modules. I've never really soldered anything before and had no idea what I was doing, but I managed to get everything working! It took a few tries though. I made the assumption that the two blank spaces were simply solder filled holes, but no matter how hot I heated them, I couldn't melt them. I ended up just soldering to the surface. I'm currently running my existing 4 modules on ports 2-5 so that I can simply attach the new ones onto the side of my open-case Jupiter using ports 1 and 6. The point of me sharing this is simply to show my excitement and proof that even a noob like me can make this work!    Okay, let me help. Next time you try this first have a soldering iron hot enough; second have solder wick and a small needle nose to hold the solder wick that can get hot; third have some liquid flux, fourth have a soldering iron HOT enough to melt the solder. For the last I suggest you might try the hobby section of Walmart for a wood etching iron and use the large angle-pointed tip with flats. These irons are cheap so if flux destroys the tip, throw the whole thing away and get another. Fifth, get a solder sucker. Practice on something. Grab an old mother board, find some solder filled holes, put some liquid flux on the holes and on the solder wick; hold the solder wick about an inch from the end so the needle nose won't sink all the heat; put the solder wick down on the solder filled holes, press on the solder wick with the flat side of the iron's tip, when you see the wick fill with solder clip off the end of the solder wick and start fresh. Try the solder sucker on a few old motherboard components. Practice. |

What's the general recommendation for running the "enable all cores" patch? Is it wise to run if a Jupiter is running average / just below average hash speeds? Any glitches encountered?

Just received my KNC modules and got them installed.
I wish the upgrade modules came with some screws to secure the board to the case. Not a biggie but irritating nonetheless.
Using stock Intel CPU coolers for the time being as my Arctic i30s haven't arrived from amazon and they're are much warmer.
I picked up some M3-.50x20 and M3-.50x6 screws from Lowes just in case. They can be found in bin H9. H9 has the same screws in the hardware section of every store. They are however common tip. I prefer philipshead which can be found with Radio Shack standoffs. |

Ah, too bad. KnC shipping via UPS has run into a snag delivering the module to my PO Box. UPS does not deliver to PO Boxes they have however delivered or mailed a post card to my PO Box informing me. Fortunately I can pick up the international package at a UPS facility 17 miles distant sometime between 4:15PM and 6:45PM.

Sure. Imagine 3 sisters (let's call them the Potters). Annie owns 1 doll. Sally owns 1 doll. Jane owns no dolls. Now of course, doll ownership in the Potter household is only as good as to when Annie, Sally, Jane, Mom and Dad agrees to who owns what. Annie can't just take Sally's doll, as everyone knows it's not hers and will just restore rightful ownership. However, Annie comes up with a plan. She makes a bet with Sally at school. She rolls a dice, with the terms that if Sally wins Sally would get Annie's doll when they get home. If Annie wins, she would get Sally's doll. Let's say Sally is honest but Annie is not. The roll the dice. If Annie happens to win, Sally gives her the doll. They're both happy... well, except for Sally - but they're in agreement at least. However, if Annie happens to lose, she quickly goes running to Jane and say: "Hey Jane, remember that doll that I have, I can trade it to you for your bottle of Corona". Jane says ok, so then they phone up mom and dad, and say: "Hey mom, Annie's doll now belongs to Jane, and Jane's Corona now belongs to Annie". Mom and Dad says ok, so now Annie's doll now belongs to Jane, and Annie starts her long journey of Corona addiction that ends with her turning tricks on Hollywood Boulevard until one very unfortunate night with Gary Busey... but more about that at another time. Meanwhile, Sally gets home and finds that she's not getting Annie's doll. Since everybody else now thinks that Annie doesn't have a doll anymore, and it now belongs to Jane. Of course, in real life Sally would now beat up Annie with a baseball bet, which is why a stunt like this works better in BitCoin land than in Vegas (well, except if you cross DPR.). amazing story hahahaha, you should just add that Annie is Ghash.io and Sally is BetCoin and the parents are the Bitcoin protocol which leaves Jane that I cant put anywhere. Look at it this way. It's a simile. Look at Sally as the FBI, the parents are the DOJ, Annie is the Senate Banking Committee, Jane is Senator Dodd as Chair of the Senate Banking Committee, interest free loans to Senator Dodd are like you owe a favor to the mafia, and the Chair of the Senate Banking committee taking interest free loans that he may not even have to pay back is like the mafia having the director of the FBI in their pocket if the FBI is to the DOJ as the Senate Banking Committee Chair is to the Senate and the banking system as a whole.
