Will investors get Bitcoin Gold later this month?
Wait for the announcement, please.
Thanks Lutpin, I will be waiting.
Personal opinion below. Do not mistake as official statement. No guarantee about accuracy of the following.

Ok, so the situation around "Bitcoin Gold" is currently rather blurry. It seems some details aren't fixed yet and might change in the upcoming days before the 25th.
There's a lot of confusion I sense in the community and a lack of necessary information/communication from the team behind the attempted fork.
What I could gather so far is very basic information and it's conflicting in several aspects. The static page with no details besides the date isn't helping to shed any light on the project either.

Going back to the start, Bitcoin Gold was initially announced as BitcoinGPU/BTCGPU (the btcgpu.org domain indicates that). This happened as far back as July 29th[1].
The website back then was a copy of BitcoinABC's website (which was promoting Bitcoin Cash at that time).
Back then, BTCGPU planned to fork immediately after BCC/BCH had forked, something that (as we know by now) did not happen.
Another interesting part of the website back then is the mention of plans about an ICO. The website stated that "BTCGPU will create 16000 blocks after forked from No 478558th Blcock."[2]

In the time after this, I've lost track of the BTCGPU project (which was since rebranded to Bitcoin Gold, although domains and the git remain named BTCGPU).
This brings us to the current status of the website and the information available.
Their website (http://btcgpu.org/) is a simple static page with a logo and a date (October 25), as well as some social media links, and a link to github.

Now after having a look around their git:
In September code got merged that would fork BTCGPU nodes (& miners) off the main bitcoin network with block #487427, which they estimated to happen on October 1st, but went down a bit sooner[3].
This code would result in a 16000 block premine at the point of release (due to minimal difficulty and other factors), and appears to currently still be a part of their master branch and available client.
If this code was executed, it also means transactions after block 487427 are void for Bitcoin Gold and website snapshots taken at the point of release are inaccurate compared to actual wallet balances.

I'm not running a BTCGPU node, so I cannot verify this, but it seems although the code was merged, nodes did not execute it and are still on the main (bitcoin) chain as of now.
At least this is the claim of one of their core contributors. Also, he states, "that a premining is being discussed and if there is one, it will be completely transparent to everyone."[3]
How this "completely transparent" premine would look like, how many blocks, under which circumstances, all these things are unknown at this point.

Another thing currently lacking in their code is two way replay protection,
something essential for any fork to avoid replay attacks and problems with transactions down the road (which would include distributions by CG and other sites).
The current status is, replay protection is a WIP right now, and will be done before the launch, which would be postponed if it's not ready in time[4].

Taking all these things together, there's still a lot of if's, when's and maybe's. Some of those might change heavily and rapidly in the next days (at least this is my assessment).
I wouldn't expect an official announcement from CG before all important aspects are fully cleared.
This includes a firm forking date (block or timestamp), a binding statement about any premine, as well as working replay protection.
As long as these things aren't checked out, the decision about if and how CG proceeds regarding BTCGPU might still change.

I'd expect them to handle the fork similar to Bitcoin Cash, and proceed with distributions, as long as the circumstances allow it and a distribution seems reasonable.

962  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BITCOIN GOLD on: October 10, 2017, 06:03:24 AM
The Bitcoin Gold symbol would be ''BTG''
Alternative coin tickers are common. Many exchanges use XBT instead of BTC for Bitcoin (Kraken, for example), because that's following ISO code.
BCC/BCH also trades under two different abbreviations, depending on which market you are on.
963  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BITCOIN GOLD on: October 10, 2017, 05:57:18 AM
I see at C-CEX.COM they already have Bitcoin Gold (XBG), is this the SEGWITX2 coin?
No, BitcoinGold (formerly bitcoin gpu) is not the segwit2x chain split token (commonly referred to as BT2).
964  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Giveaway threads are not allowed on: October 10, 2017, 05:45:52 AM
Again monitoring and simply locking dead giveaways would be better solution to this problem that straight up banning them all
The problem is spam, not giveaways that don't pay out.

So how would I give out or announce bounty and airdrops then?
Without forcing or rewarding people to post in your thread.

(Off-topic:)
Because some moron(s) stole the money that was supposed to fund the new version of Bitcointalk.
We're talking about at least $1,000,000 worth of Bitcoin back when that money was donated, so after deflation one could assume that this number might easily be 10x higher by now.
Worst thing is, time i checked, no one was ever held accountable for that theft, and Bitcointalk still looks like it was stuck in 2008.
Don't get me wrong, i'm a nostalgic, i like SMF/PHP boards, but a lot of money was definitely stolen from this community, this is not Ok and something should be done about it.

965  Other / Meta / Re: [G&R] Increasing amount of spam due to stream announcements. on: October 09, 2017, 07:00:38 PM
I've just PMd one guy about it to find out what's going on. I'll give them all a warning to knock it off later.
Has there been any answer about the reason for spamming the G&R section?

OlegBarca announces streams in a similar manner (#115 as of now, most threads should be removed for affiliate spam, too):

966  Economy / Collectibles / Re: WTS old casascius bitcoins from 2013 (used) on: October 09, 2017, 03:00:33 PM
they are in good condition, no visible damage... in ebay they sell these coins for over 7000 e that are still unclaimed.
The coins, especially the two on the left in the picture, are visibly aged, and thus not in a good condition anymore.
As explained above, premiums on funded coins cannot be compared with the prices of their redeemed counterparts.
If you wanted to preserve the value, you should not have peeled the coins.
967  Other / Meta / Re: Caution: My Hero account has been potentially compromised on: October 09, 2017, 02:55:35 PM
My Hero account (manselr) has been potentially hacked. My password doesn't work, and I can't access my email. What's weird is, when I try to recover my pass with my secret question thing for the email, the website says my email doesn't exist. I thought the email got expired because I didn't log in on there for a while, so I tried to register again the same email but it says it's not availible.. weird.
You can't recover forum passwords using the secret question right now. Attempting to do so results in your account being locked for security reasons.

Seclog shows two actions for your account in recent times:
Today at 09:45:49 AM - manselr - password changed
Today at 09:26:08 AM - manselr - password reset via email

If you're sure you don't have access to your account anymore and want to recover your account, follow the steps here:

Sorry mate that thread is here from 2014. I dont think you are understanding what I am saying.  I saw that thread when it was posted here in a reply.
Are you assuming forum rules expire after a certain amount of time? The thread is sticky in two sections, wich shows it is still very actual.
As long as a rule is not revoked, it should be considered active and thus be enforced.

All airdrop threads are still here. What deleted are the ones started in last two three days with eltc - ebtc - edash - eripple kind of threads.
If some were deleted, then "all" aren't here any more. How could all still be here, if some are gone?
Threads that are problematic as per the rule were removed, those that aren't are fine.

If airdrop thread is illegal in this forum then why this rule imply on eltc - ebtc and other exxxxx coins only. Why not implements to all the airdrops?
Not all airdrops are problematic, we learn which are if we read the sticky thread instead of ignoring it based on its age.

Specifically, you are not allowed to give people any incentive to post insubstantial posts in your threads. You can't offer to pay people who post their addresses, usernames, etc. You can do giveaways off-site and link to the giveaway page in a thread, but you can't give people any bonus for replying to your thread.
Those that give incentives to post in the thread and reward people who do so are problematic, and thus forbidden.
The deleted threads included such conditions, and were removed as a result.
Airdrops that do not request this behaviour are still there and ok, eg ByteBall or Bitcore.

I hope you understand now.
Eventually, you will.
970  Other / Meta / Re: When is your Reply to Post or Started Topic Substantial??? on: October 09, 2017, 02:39:40 AM
I am not complaining, I am asking when your post to be in substance in nature... The crap.... You see right away in the glance if the Topic is low-quality, why not close it at once so that replies will not be entertained right away... You don't have to read all the replies.  Just the-the title thread itself will determine whether it is a low-quality topic. You don't have to read all the replies....
The answer can be found in the two posts above yours (and one of them you even quoted).
This is a case where you have to read all the replies, else you keep asking for things that have already been explained to you several times.
971  Other / Meta / Re: Move topic error on: October 09, 2017, 01:45:31 AM
My best guess would be some restrictions on newbie accounts, although I can't confirm that right now, so it's just a hunch.
Did you try moving it without leaving a redirection message in the old section?
972  Other / Meta / Re: deleted again on: October 09, 2017, 01:39:14 AM
but then if a main post like an airdrop altcoin say: just put a comment to confirm and i put a little comment i got deleted after seems little bit wack to me
That's because those things are against the forum rules (-> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=780979.0).
If the original post of a thread tells you to violate the forum rules and you do it, you still violate the forum rules (OPs don't stand above them).
Follow the rules and your posts won't be deleted.
973  Other / Meta / Re: Account hacked, please read i can prove it's mine on: October 09, 2017, 01:33:41 AM
still nothing
Wait for your turn, resend the PM every now and then (every other week, maybe?).
Hacked accounts are no priority and it can take a very long time until you get yours restored.
(Bumping this thread probably achieves next to nothing.)
Good luck.
974  Other / Meta / Re: My activity was decreased but idk why but my posts are not deleted? on: October 09, 2017, 01:31:44 AM
You dont get a message about deleted posts when the whole thread was trashed.
The only time you do get a message is when your post specifically was deleted by a moderator (or someone who started a self moderated thread).

You had posts in threads that were trashed and thus your number of posts decreased. As your activity cant be higher than your post count, with decreasing posts, your activity went down too.

If you read a few threads around the last pages of this section (Meta), you can see you are not the only one and everyone else has gotten similar answers.
You don't have to contact any modeator/admin over it (doubt you'd get an answer anyway) and there's no bug or error either.
975  Other / Meta / Re: Why so many deleted topics today? Need Staff reply. on: October 09, 2017, 01:26:30 AM
Just because you dont like airdrops doesnt means its illegal or unethical
Just because it's "legal" doesn't mean it has to be allowed and tolerated on this forum.

I asked a simple question why they were deleted. If I knew it was answered before I would not have opened up another thread for the same thing.
And you got a clear answer from hilarious (which you wouldn't accept, lol).
Then you got two more answers, how many does it take before you will realize and accept it?
976  Other / Meta / Re: DUPLICATE eLTC THREADS QUESTION ON ALTCRYPTO on: October 09, 2017, 01:21:45 AM
Both your tokens are shit and nobody will care about them in a few weeks,
both of you just saw what happened to eBTC and wanted to cash in on that hype,
both of you just took an existing project (LTC) and made a useless token with the same name and no functionality,
why do you even fight about it?

@OP:
Everyone is free to create a thread as long as the thread is acceptable within the rules.
What moderators are doing? They are enforcing the rules.
If you find me a (forum-)rule that says no two tokens can have the same name/ticker, then I might even support your case.

(ot: I wonder why they allowed all those Bitcoincash threads, since Bitconnect already claimed BCC. Roll Eyes )
977  Other / Meta / Re: Why so many deleted topics today? Need Staff reply. on: October 09, 2017, 01:14:44 AM
Probably because they're not allowed: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=434310.0
No I am not talking about giveaway threads. It started happening since last two days. They were for new e(coins).
Those eTokens are giveaway threads, you can name them Airdrops, but that doesn't change their nature.
Most of them asked for posts in their [Ann] threads and this led to a huge amount of spam hitting the Announcements (Altcoins) section over the last days.
I'm glad some of those threads are gone now. Nothing of value was lost there.

I don't frequent the ANN section, but I'm sure whatever got deleted is because it's not allowed.
There's even a sticky about it, not too hard to find, if you want to.
978  Other / Meta / Re: eETC appeared and disappeared from ANN? on: October 09, 2017, 01:06:10 AM
Airdrops aren't forbidden at all. It's most likely deleted because people are posting wallet addresses in the thread.
Airdrops could be considered special cases of giveaways.
-> Giveaway threads are not allowed

Quote
Specifically, you are not allowed to give people any incentive to post insubstantial posts in your threads. You can't offer to pay people who post their addresses, usernames, etc.
You can do giveaways off-site and link to the giveaway page in a thread, but you can't give people any bonus for replying to your thread.

Thus all airdrop threads that ask for posts in the [ANN] topics (should it be addresses, "joined airdrop" or some other crap) will eventually be deleted.
Notably, this doesn't apply to all airdrops (topics like ByteBall or Bitcore exist for a long time and are no problem), but a big part of the recently created eXXX tokens.

So for what reason of posting wallets address on some thread should be deleted?
The sticky in the Announcements (Altcoins) section.

Can you give a link of some mods/admin saying this? Or rules?
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=434310.msg4769283#msg4769283

If this is right, then signature campaign threads should be deleted too?
No, signature campaigns are located in different sections of the forum.
This forum does have local rules that only apply to certain sections. Here you have one of them.

Anyway, I've seen many airdrops thread in the past, none of them were deleted by the mods.
You wouldn't see a thread that's already been deleted, would you?  Cheesy
979  Other / Meta / Re: When is your Reply to Post or Started Topic Substantial??? on: October 09, 2017, 12:56:58 AM
Because moderation of this forum heavily relies on reports made by users, due to the amount of posts made every day.
Moderators can't read every reply in every thread, thus they handle reports made by users and look at those things that are brought to their attention.

If a topic that shouldn't be on this forum in the first place stays up for a long time, it's probably because nobody has reported it so far.
On top of that, not every moderator can handle every report, and things might take a little longer based on these factors.
980  Other / Meta / Re: Permaban? on: October 09, 2017, 12:49:49 AM
Evading your (perma-)ban is not going to help you build your case.

-> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178336.msg22683294#msg22683294
-> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=33050.msg22682853#msg22682853
-> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2009698.msg20194996#msg20194996

You as a person are banned from posting on the forum, not just the respective account.
While you are banned, you're only allowed to post in the Meta section, and only in threads appleaing your ban.

Which, in your case, means you have probably been perma banned / nuked. Unfortunately, there is no coming back from that, you won't be able to appeal it, and, if an admininstrator/moderator finds out you have a new account, there is a high possibility you will be banned aswell, according to;
Only newbie accounts can be nuked, the account in question is a hero account.
