This is 1.2w/GH hardware, right? Need really cheap power to still be running these.

This is your download link: https://mega.co.nz/#!o19WABbB!UkyQEKz9_h2kopxtS74CO_hiaA6t_x6eji497BnIfG4

And the link on zendesk   : https://mega.co.nz/#!o19WABbB!UkyQEKz9_h2kopxtS74CO_hiaA6t_x6eji497BnIfG4

Same link.. I guess they took your link and posted it there. I don't understand why I'm getting "File System Version   Wed Jul 15 16:17:04 CST 2015" when I boot off of it. Maybe the controller card's firmware is overriding it? It is definitely booting off of it though because my pool settings are gone and back to bitmain's default when the SD card is installed. Weird...

Thanks for trying to help, I appreciate it.

Where is the new firmware
I can only see the old version

Do you have to ask the same question twice within 5 minutes? Take the time to read his posts and you'll see that he's still working on it and that it hasn't been released yet.
964  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: August 05, 2015, 02:58:52 PM
350MHz would be great! Bring it on, we'll deal with any potential issues with power delivery.  Cool I wouldn't say they're maxed, though, as Neptune cubes use more power and I haven't had a single melted connector using proper wiring. I'm not even using the "Y" splitters I have for 10 of the Neptune cubes, no issues.

Do you have .img with older firmware to burn on to microsd? If not I will provide with the link...

I've tried the April 2nd images here: https://bitmain.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/205145945-S4-Firmware

But they've been updated to July 15th firmware. The link descriptions are wrong, unfortunately. If you (or anyone) have a copy of the actual April 2nd image, I'd greatly appreciate it!!

I see...

Here is complete .img file that you will need to burn directly to microSD

https://mega.co.nz/#!o19WABbB!UkyQEKz9_h2kopxtS74CO_hiaA6t_x6eji497BnIfG4

It is based on 04022015 firmware...

You got that link from zendesk that I linked, no? I've tried that image file, it's been updated to July 15th. I know the description says April 2nd and so does the file name, but booting off of the SD card reveals the image to be the latest July 15th firmware unfortunately.
966  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 4 KW of pure power on: August 05, 2015, 02:47:55 PM
what is monthly consumption of one psu in kwh?
sorry mate , i never really did these maths ... these psu's run 1000w , so if you run 4 of these = ~ 4000 w .  ( if you use their maximum power efficiency ( wich is not recomanded, anytime) ... indeed

These do 1kw/h x 24hrs = 24kwh/day.

They're silver rated I believe. Thus 1000w / 0.85 = 1176w at the wall, or 28.2KWh/day

All these physical dead dies you guys mentions, I cant help but wonder if really bad shipping stresses(throwing boxes around etc...) caused the massive heatsinks to put insane pressure at times on the dies causing them physical damage.

While it's possible, I don't think it was the case with my unit. All dies worked when I first received it from KNC. 2 days later, I was down a die. About a week later another. The 3rd die went out maybe 2 months in. They wouldn't have worked from the get-go if it was shipping damage.

Looking forward to trying your new firmware with the fix!

So I have several sets of Titan Batch 2 cubes I got in june 2015, and they were brand new sealed in the box. 13 cubes have failed in different ways. Ive owned a few computer repairs shops over 20 years , so I have a ton of experience with thermal issues. So far I have 2 cubes with burned PCI-E connectors that I was able to restore and one cube that has 2 dies that read .8v (idle) that I tried the fix KNCminer kept saying would work, and that was to remove the single screw nearest the exhaust and remove the standoff too, and put a screw through a nut that is underneath the cube. The goal was to tighten the pressure on the heatsink. I had 8 cubes that had this issue and it did not work. All it did was start to bend the board in the middle. Ive applied my own fix after listening to KNCminer for over 45 days, and MY fix worked on the first cube I tried. So KNCminer now claim my warranty is void and refuse to help me. I will eventually repair all of these, and then file my class action suit to the tune of $70,000. Guys if you own ANY kncminer product, the deadline to file a lawsuit for the FULL amount YOU paid for them is August 20th 2015. I will be emailing everyone on this thread and letting them know. Im also optimizing my website for many keywords for google so others can see who KNCminer really are. My website bitcoinlasvegas.net is very high ranking on google as I get about 5000 visitors a week. Im already on page one for the search term "Kncminer Batch 2" , so Ill be posting most of the horror stories there. http://bitcoinlasvegas.net/kncminer-titan-batch-2-up-and-running/

Awesome! What was the fix? I'd like to give it a shot!

I don't think anyone is surprised by the turn of events. What I find surprising is that this wasn't dragged on for longer than a day.
971  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: August 05, 2015, 01:11:52 AM
I realize I could SSH to it, but the thing is the SD card with the log file is sitting on my desk, not in the Titan.  Tongue Anyways, doesn't matter since you replicated the issue.

What I was really after was the stats in any event, since with the 3 dies disabled the Titan is stable for weeks at a time.

Question for ya, are those dies permanently damaged or do they just stop randomly working while mining?

I found the issue w/ the script, it seems when dies are manually disabled the script erronously detects that as the dies also have being failed and trying to restart them(the old way before my script) haha
So, Ill have to come up w/ a way to detect them manually being off or not.

Yeah, they're toast. Nothing I've tried has been able to get them to hash at all since they died.

Thanks for your efforts so far, GenTarkin.

In my case on a Titan with 3 dead dies, the firmware was unusable as it would continually restart BFGminer even though the offending dies were set to "OFF" in the advanced page and all other working dies were hashing.

Are you sure your changes are rebooting individual cubes and not the whole shebang? From what I understood observing through SSH, what was happening was a restart of BFGminer and all 4 cubes if there was not 4 working dies per cube.
Any chance you can copy n paste /var/log/monitordcdc.log ? post it here?
Thanks

Thats one thing I didnt test was dies which were manually turned off, not sure how my code would react in that case. Ill have to possibly look into it further. My titan has no manually disabled dies.

Is there any way for me to read it off of the SD card from my PC? Or would I have to go and swap it back into my Titan? If I have to swap it, try manually disabling a die on your Titan first. You should see the same behavior, but if you don't I'll go swap the cards and get you the log.

bought a used Antminer S4.

How do I know which version of the PSU I got ?

thanks.

Hey there HerbPean!  If you see "APLUSPOWER" on a sticker on a side of the PSU, it's the second version.

But the second version is not a lot better than the first one, they are dying one by one, slowly...  Sad

Yep. Both versions are garbage. Might as well replace it now and avoid downtime.

Ck or Dogie or anyone, Can someone explain how to use the Sept 26th Firmware with Cgminer 4.9 with extra nonce?

Installing thru ssh to make sure it stays put thru a reboot???

I wanna be able to use the first firmware with the latest miner so i can use voltage control to downclock my miner.
If this is for the S4 then go here  https://bitmaintech.com/support.htm?pid=00720140930114518599JXGHWWD80660  and download this :  initramfs.bin.SD-20141016.tar.gz
It was the last firmware that allowed underclocking  (Oct. 16th 2014).  Go to your gui and navigate to the Miner Configuration tab then the Advanced tab.  At the bottom you can search for where you downloaded the firmware and upload it to the S4.  Miner may reset and when it comes back you may need to reconfigure your pools.  Here gives you some predetermined underclocks  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=796839.0  it's the beginning of this thread pg. 1.  No need to ssh into it as long as you have a windows computer.

Underclocks on that page don't work!
What firmware are you using?

I have used all firmwares...

The best underclock ive been able to achieve was

freq 100
volt 0670

Now that i have gone thru all the underclocks & voltages using a kill o watt

The above said freq & volt dont do anything to change the power output

The 640 watts returned thru the kill o watt is merely the power drop from 740 watts to 640 watts caused by the fans running slower as the machine is running cooler...

Not a true underclock in my book

Please tell me about your underclock settings & what wattage was achieved??

I've been busting these forums butts & bitmains for ages to get something done.

Please tell me u used a kill o watt to prove ur settings!

My current firmware is : Thu Oct 16 15:58:23 CST 2014
Anyone want to chime in on this?  My S4 is currently at Bitmain in Denver for repair.

Meech,

If u had bothered to read the thread in its whole u would know the voltages don't work from page one, I must have made at least 5 comments about voltages & underclocks.

Please do research before chiming in blindly!

If the S4 does not support Undervolting, I do not have one, then it's a great pity as unlike the other Bitmain products it has the chips that should support it. Namely the TPS53631  3-Phase VR12.5/VR12 SVID compliant PWM controller. This is designed to support processors with a core voltage range from 0.5-V to 2.5-V and is fully programmable.

Examination of the circuit should reveal if programming is supported although this is complicated by the fact that the data sheet is not generally available. This is what you get to on the TI website.

Rich,

The S4 used to support voltage adjustments before it was intentionally gimped. Please see these posts:

While I agree that backups are important in life, this has nothing to do with backups. This has everything to do with BITMAIN removing functionality from it's hardware again. It'd worse this time around, though, since I can't flash back to the previous version.

Quick update my firmware is now available for download here:
https://github.com/GenTarkin/Titan/releases/tag/v.85

GenTarkin,

I just tried your image, but the default login and password is not admin/admin so I couldn't log in to the Titan. What is the proper user name and password for your image?
979  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4+ Discussion and Support Thread on: August 04, 2015, 05:20:32 PM
God fucking damnit BITMAIN, you removed frequency control  over 200MHz with the latest firmware updates, now I'm stuck with only 200MHz since there is no way to flash the original firmware back to the miner. Why the fuck aren't these kind of changes detailed in the change logs?!

What a great follow up to the S4 where they decided to remove voltage control.  Roll Eyes

BITMAIN, PLEASE make the original firmware available for download so I can revert, or bring frequency control back to the newer firmware.

This is for batch 2 titan correct? The factory voltages are much higher on batch 1 titans, so if this image is for batch 1 , dont apply to batch 2 titans or it will fry your cubes.

Vegas

Ok how we can install
Your firmware
Step by step details
Please

File is writeable via win32diskimager or dd
2GB SD card required
