181  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Fake Gunbot PM spam on: December 13, 2020, 08:21:29 PM
noticed it was still in my inbox (always thought the forum removed them) so I reported it again as the user account still seems to exist.
The forum Admin doesn't remove PMs after reporting them (you can do that by yourself).

Seeing as they had no posts and only PM's I expected them to have been nuked by now. This was my winner https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2895827
That account didn't get banned and it didn't make any posts. It looks like a farm created solely for PM spam (at this moment at least).
That's why I was confused. My fault for making assumptions, but I figured the account would get nuked and all spam PM's with it. I've only encountered the situation a few times so I'm definitely fuzzy on the details. Now I have some questions so, off to meta I go. Edit: Feel free to ask more questions I may have forgot.

Considering they have banned someone old as dirt, in forum years for sending PM's en masse, arguably less atrocious if given context. Once again a business personality received a small break for stepping toes out of line. Can't figure out why a farmed spam PM account is dodging bullets. Maybe an oversight
182  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: (Alert) Bitcoin.com Promote Scam Website Link ON Their Blog on: December 13, 2020, 11:15:21 AM
So do we really need even more promotion of that fake Bitcoin than we already have through the domain in question here? I don’t know what kind of relationship you have with him, but $10 for that kind of information is a really ridiculous amount.

Did you ask him when he will stop promoting that shitcoin on his site as real Bitcoin, and thus deceive all those who really want to invest in Bitcoin?
I may have misread and interpreted what you wrote first off. I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt in that you aren't suggesting I'm some rando shill or something or that I took a 10$ kickback to promote the coin by simply openly and transparently letting OP know I would pass along the "reward".

I am nothing to Roger and I doubt he recalls the last time we spoke on forum, when I addressed the second part of your post. I was a newbie when his fork happened, and I was very clear about my feelings on the matter. Either way off-topic for here. I simply understand that he still cares about his account on this forum to some extent. So i figured if nothing else send a PM, I didn't expect a response but received one that seems to be an overall positive.

Either way as  I said I'll be in touch with OP, sometime next week.
183  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Adkinsbet scammed me 66.3mbt on: December 13, 2020, 11:00:14 AM
Unless it is stated in their TOS that getting upset and posting about it on social media will result in all funds being confiscated and the account will be closed; Op is entitled to their winnings.

I'm going to wait and see if Adkins responds here before going any further, as there could be more to the story.

A company does have the right to end the service agreement, but that does not entitle them to confiscate the funds. Unless something else is presented I would expect you to be paid and then have your account closed.
184  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: GreenAddress blacklisted my wallet, and now holds custodial control of it on: December 13, 2020, 09:01:56 AM
Sorry to hear, that's pretty F'd up they still aren't willing to sort this out.

Even though your "tactics" were troublesome well say, it shouldn't change the fact that they can and should make you whole. I use them as my "spend" wallet for most things or to load up when I travelled in case the opportunity presented itself to spend some BTC.

I guess I'm not to worried about winding up in the same situation, as I've avoided Google 2fa like the plague, and shouldn't really run into a situation where I can't recover access to my 2fa option. It is still shitty to see that they are not providing consistent support to sort this with you.

If neither of the above options are viable for you, and you still possess your mnemonic, you can reset your lost Two-Factor Authentication.

Resetting your lost Two-Factor Authentication requires a minimum of 12 months. You can read more about Two-Factor Authentication reset here

Just looking over there FAQ's as it's been a while, shouldn't this allow them to reset your 2fa... or anyone who had copied it down off reddit in reality.
185  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Fake Gunbot PM spam on: December 13, 2020, 08:48:01 AM
I got hit with this on the 6th I believe, I immediately just reported it and forgot about it. Reading your post I checked and noticed it was still in my inbox (always thought the forum removed them) so I reported it again as the user account still seems to exist. Same "code" slightly different wording in my PM

Seeing as they had no posts and only PM's I expected them to have been nuked by now. This was my winner https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2895827
186  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Warning] xTRX Using spam bump service on: December 13, 2020, 08:38:57 AM
The one upside to this is that Bump services on that board will do nothing to keep it visible. theymos implemented a bump feature, visible in the top right along with reply and whatnot. Apart from the bumping is there more to the scam accusation at this point, or just highly expected?

So if nothing else they are wasting their money, while not disturbing others or gaining visibility.

187  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: (Alert) Bitcoin.com Promote Scam Website Link ON Their Blog on: December 13, 2020, 12:42:44 AM
Just dropping this here. I reached out to Roger last night and he responded to me in PM. He is going to be bringing this up with his Editor, to hopefully prevent this in the future.

OP

I'll reach out next week, and provide you with the 10$ in BCH that I was provided for bringing it to his attention. I would have already done it but I've never dealt with BCH so it'll take me a few days until I'm off work to access it and send it your way.

Sorry, can I get a little help from the betnomi side ?
I'm having trouble with my betnomi account. I can no longer login my account because it is linked to GA. Unfortunately I deleted the GA application on my android a few days ago because the android I was using was stuck. This is actually my own fault, but can I still use the account ?
Hey there,

If you want to PM me your Account name and ID, I can escalate your issue and see what can be done. There are also more direct methods of contacting customer service support.

1 - Live Chat is now active on the Betnomi.com site
2 - You can join the Telegram chat, which generally has a decent response time as well.

If they can't help you they'll be able to escalate issues further.
189  Other / Meta / Re: Why do people write "reserve" right after their post? on: December 12, 2020, 12:19:56 PM
It depends on of the user how they will use it. When I do, I do it to have an update about the topic, maybe to have a summary of the topic, maybe to have a list of the collective responses.
I would understand it if you posted a reserve as an update, but this isn't an update. It is right after you submit your post. What's the purpose of doing it immediately?
As I stated in my first response it is a placeholder. The reason for posting it immediately after the OP, is to reserve the spot for future use sometimes it's only the second post position, some people will reserve a couple spaces.

It unfortunately seems common practice on the forum for many users to not read the OP, or then digest the rest of the thread before they post.

Now if people actually read the OP, then scroll down to read the thread before posting they will come across these "RESERVED" posts - but let's say it's been a month since the OP was written, and maybe there have been changes made. If the poster feels it is necessary, useful or helpful they might log these changes in the post that was formerly just "RESERVED"

You have probably already read some topics that have used this strategy, because they don't always leave "RESERVED" in the post after editing in whatever they deemed relevant.

Others have also pointed out another possible reason for doing it, which is to purposefully but out of necessity(This is subjective) multipost an OP that benefits from being broken up.

190  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: (Alert) Bitcoin.com Promote Scam Website Link ON Their Blog on: December 12, 2020, 10:57:40 AM
Do you think Roger Ver have this level of responsibility?
I might be misunderstanding but, Roger is responsible for everything that site says and does. I know they are nothing more than another regurgitating "news" site but he still bears responsibility for poor internal practices.

Although Roger has an account on this forum, he is not very active after he was painted in red. So don't live in the delusion that something will change because you opened this thread - he just wants a profit, no matter what he has to do to get it.
I sent him a PM regardless. He came back last year because he noticed something happened to one of his old threads, it was a pretty funny overreaction at the time. He also still logs in as you can see by his last active date, so if nothing else this forum can still be a decent way to let him know where his site is falling short of what is expected.

I'll give him credit for that much at least, he still responds or reads what's going on in the nosebleeds.
191  Other / Meta / Re: Why do people write "reserve" right after their post? on: December 12, 2020, 10:47:48 AM
It is a placeholder. Some people will log updates or changes to the OP in that post, others will use it to archive or link to interesting posts that come up later in a topic. There can be a lot of reasons for doing it. I can't say why that particular user is doing it, though their reasoning could be buried under 3000 characters.

194  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Poker Probability Texas Hold 'Em on: December 12, 2020, 06:14:20 AM
These odds are nice for a standard idea around the possibility of what your hand could be at showdown. Problem is you aren't always getting to showdown. More often than not someone is folding out well before, and you often don't get to realize your equity, on say straight or flush draws, then there's hands you don't really chase you just luck into, like a boat(Full House) or quads (Four of a kind) and Straight Flushes.

One of the odds people often look to hit on the flop apart from a decent pair are Set mining with a pocket pair looking to hit 1 of 2 remaining cards on the flop approximately 12%. It's such a killer of a hand if it's a middle to low pocket pair to begin with.

Odds are great, but ranges are way more important once you progress in the game.

As much as I enjoy playing Texas Hold Em
We do hold a tournament series made up entirely of forum users on Betnomi every Sunday - Really nice sponsored prizepool at the moment. Always looking for more members to join.

EDIT: what is betnomi's policy regarding USA players, VPN, etc? am i gonna have any issues making an account or withdrawing?
Odds are I won't be making it this weekend. It's right in the middle of a long stretch of nights and that's just pushing it.

Pokerwise you won't have any issues using a VPN. I do believe when/if you go to withdraw you do have to have filled in your account personal "information", this can be anything though as there is currently no mandatory KYC. Their KYC policy only comes into place for suspected multi-accounting and/or "jackpot" type prizes - no specified amount. If you do run into any issue just shoot me or even the Betnomi account a PM here on forum to get it sorted out.

is anyone who can't log into their associated email just locked out of their SwC account?
It looks that way, I tried to log in before work quick and forgot which email I used. I'll try again with a few emails tonight if not I guess I'll have to fire off an email in the morning.

197  Economy / Collectibles / Re: My loaded 100 BTC Casascius Bearer Bar on: December 07, 2020, 08:45:28 AM
Just stumbled upon this thread, I assume that you're based in the States and would want to transact in person there, are you in any particular rush or having held this for so long are you happy to wait a few months for an offer higher than 115BTC?

I'm presently traveling for a few months and leave my BTC on Ledger Blue wallets in bank's safety deposit boxes, ideally my next visit to the States wouldn't be until January 2019.

I am in no particular hurry, except that the high BTC goes, the harder it will be to sell it.

Likely any buyer would already have the bitcoins, as in my case, so the USD rate doesn't really matter that much (so long as one doesn't mind making large amounts of value much less liquid in return for this cool collectable cold storage), I'm happy to offer you 120 BTC (regardless of what the USD/BTC value is when we complete) and exchange face to face at a mutually agreed lawyer's offices* in the States in January 2019 (I'm based in LA, but could fly in to NY np) or if you fancy a trip to Europe before then and don't mind bringing it over with you then I could do it in July - Aug - part Sept - Channel Islands (UK), part Sept - Greece, Oct - Madrid, Nov - Barcelona.

*A simple sales contract having being drawn up to show our details, the transfer of ownership and the relevant BTC addies, the lawyer effectively escrowing by holding the bar until the payment coins confirm at your given receiving addie, a couple of hours max or so depending on how many confirmations you'd like.

I remember watching this a bit back then, I always just assumed this deal had happened and never thought on it any further. Where you guys just unable to meet on a price or was it the timing of it all.

Either way good luck with the sale or peeling wherever this ends.

Just popping in to say thanks for the smooth and succesful trade.
Don't you think for you to build trust and be reliable to the person why not use an escrow, with this there will be no trust loose or lost.
Good advice in general. This was a risk I was willing to take, LoyceV explained it perfectly.

Thanks 1miau

200  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I want to play poker online on: December 06, 2020, 01:54:01 AM
There's tons of sites to play poker. It's hard to help you without some inkling of what you are looking for. What stakes do you play? What game type are you looking for? Is this heads-up, full ring or something in between? Finally cash or tournament.

The level of player is going to vary, you will find good and bad at most stakes.

For Crypto deposits I've played the following and always found decent action: Americas Cardroom, GGpoker. SWC seems to be slowing down but still has a decent amount of tables and games running, Betnomi poker, and depending on your timezone has some tournaments with a decent overlay while they grow.
