I ended up with three 741s You mentioned the 2400W 220V PSU from parallel miner and I know I'll get at least one of those, but what should I do for the third? I like the idea of getting a second 2400W PSU since it makes it easy to add another miner in the future, but I'm wondering what I'm losing in efficiency if I run it a PSU at less than 50% of its rated output. What do you suggest for the third miner? Logan4el-- Reply to the email to state that you are paying with BTC and ask them to send the details. [/quote] As far as a PSU goes you should look into Amitylabs, ebay store. They build very nice equipment and are super helpful in making sure you get the right machine for what you are mining. If you live in the US, they also provide free shipping.

I was wondering, what with the volatility of BTC pricing, when you have ordered in the past what price do they tend to quote. The day the order is placed or the price the day they send you a wallet address?

Thanks for the update on wire transfers, I am going to go the BTC route for my order.
I have another question I have a 2450W power supply built by amitylabs (ebay store) out of the states.
I know theoretically I should be able to run 2 of these of the 1 PSU but does anyone who has run these have any experience with what these actually draw. I have no intention of overclocking the unit and at max my ambient temperature will be 35C in summer(already past that) and 20-30C until winter hits when I will easily be able to keep it at 5C. (yay Canada lol).
Thanks in advance.

Hey there,
Planning my first order from a supplier, and wondering what does Canaan accept for payment methods, and how long do you have to make the payment before the order is tossed. Also does anyone know what time the items become available for order? I want to make sure I'm up and ready even if it's 4 am lol.
Thank you
Go back and read the last 4 or 5 pages of this forum to get your answer, but in short Canaan has been all over the place lately on orders. Just keep in mind they're legit and not trying to rip you off. Be patient and work with them as they seem ready to work with their customers. I recommend you be ready with payment when your order is placed. Before it looked like they were giving customers time, but they might start demanding speedier payment. Also I recommend to open a ticket (if they don't) to send them your transaction ID. I would also send one more message when all confirmations are completed. They will then send you a FedEx tracking number in about 1-2 days. If they go beyond any deadline just reply to your ticket and they should give you an update, but be ready for a reply no to come until HK time and somewhat broken English. But again you just need to be patient and know they're legit. Last order I did with them took 2.5 weeks from order to miners arrived. This was during their surge of orders. It took about a week to receive the payment address, they sent a message they were shipping 2 day slater with the tracking number, when I check FedEx it wasn't picked up until the following evening then about 5 days of transit due to the weekend. Thanks for the reply. I went back the last 15 pages or so to try and get a good idea about running these units, and definitely understand their supply and demand issues. I'm not worried about getting my units especially after reading the posts from their Rep/VP/helping hand Steven. I just wanted to see if there are any options apart from BTC or USD wire transfer available for payment. Either way I'll make sure I'm ready to go, no matter what it will be better than trying the lottery of catching Bitmains sale and hoping the hardware lasts.

Hi thanks for the help. Unfortunately whatever they did doesn't make sense. The unit power up, but then the fan slows down the 4 green lights on the control board all go solid. The ethernet light comes on, but the Antminer s5 doesn't show up on my network. My guess is that the individual did something to damage the control board when attempting to switch out the fan. I found some spare parts locally and am going to try switching things around to see if I can salvage the unit.
Chocking it up to a learning experience and going to be more stringent on returns in the future.

Hi there,
S5's are a nice get your feet wet unit, I started with them a few months ago, and have been lucky enough to unload most my units to upgrade.
One thing you will want to check on as well is your power supply, the S7 requires 205V+ , where as the S5 runs off a regular 110V circuit. Which makes them a simpler setup.
I recommend the S5 for figuring out if Mining is for you just to get the feel of things, if it turns out you like it and have access to higher voltages you will find yourself upgrading sooner rather than later.
As far as a pool I used bitcoin.com pool as they had been offering 10% bonus on payouts but have since stopped. They are simple and user friendly.
Hope this helps good luck.

Hi there,
So I ran into an issue where I sold a used antminer (through ebay) The buyer claimed it arrived DOA, so I provided a refund. While trying to troubleshoot the problem, I found a post on this site, that matches my timelines perfectly and sounds like the problems my buyer was messaging me about. Only issue they mined just fine for 12 hours then began trying to modify the unit, and I'm guessing got heavy handed with it causing damage.
I'm wondering if there is someone who can confirm the email someone used to create their account, if I provide the one I believe they used. It's a longshot as they may have multiple e-mails, but maybe I would get lucky. I'd consider it a win if I could catch this fraudulent buyer, as a scam is a scam. Any help would be awesome. Thanks

Hi just my 2 cents as someone who stupidly tried to get into Bitcoin by picking up a quick purchase on eBay. Paypal will not give purchaser protection for Bitcoin. At least that's what they told me. Luckily I used my credit card and they were able to deal with it as a fraudulent sale. One step further I checked with Paypal before making the purchase to make sure I was covered and they said as long as it wasn't a gaming coin I would be fine, then they changed there tune in the resolution center, and just cancelled my appeal. After learning from this experience I realized you won't find a steal of a deal buying bitcoin, but you will be able to sell it safely on a reputable exchange for a relatively small fee (especially when compared to losses to scammers).

Hi there,
Did you sort this out? I'm having a similar issue. Could it have been a power network issue? I'm in Canada so it shouldn't be a problem, but I am in an apartment building and thought that may cause issues. Anything else you tried it would be good to know
