661  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcointalk SwC Championship Poker Series(50 mBtc added by SwC) on: May 01, 2020, 08:28:24 PM
Can somebody please help me to understand correctly everything about this tournament?
~snip~
I don't believe there are any Bitcointalk poker tournaments you can join this weekend. There is the Series Championship - and the Series consolation tournament. If you didn't play in any series games the last 4 weeks you won't be able to get the password.

Sportsbet.io does host a freeroll every Wednesday for forum members, and there will be more tournaments on SWC starting next week I think maybe the weekend after for another series and maybe some standalone tournaments as well.
662  Other / Archival / Re: Let's talk Texas Holdem poker hands and how to play like a PRO? on: May 01, 2020, 08:08:26 PM

That was already mentioned at least 2 times!!! I created this one because there was no active thread.

The thread you are linking was not active for 6 weeks and woke up yesterday, only because was mentioned here.

Of course, I would agree to merge these two threads or something, but as an OP, I would try to keep my thread alive or close after a few weeks of no activity.

There is a warning message when you post in older threads, not without a reason  Wink.

Just like I said:
... to my surprise, there was no thread for this, at least an active one.

The thread... is not active from almost 6 weeks, so I wasn't able to find it on the first few pages of the gambling discussion board.

The last comment in this linked thread is from March 19. 2020.

Additionally, this thread has rules, so please be aware of them.
I would finally start to report such off-topic posts, especially if you repeat something already mentioned and discussed a few posts above.

PS
On such a big forum as Bitcointalk, I hope there is enough place even for 3 threads about the poker hands.
Please, let me try and maybe, just maybe, we can have an interesting discussion, because I have 15 years of experience in playing poker and like to discuss the hands and poker play.
Not to beat a dead thread lol. I don't think there were any warning messages for posting there, as you said 6 weeks give or take pretty sure the message is at 6 months or something. Not that I care if people choose to post in multiple threads or whatnot but there really isn't anything differing between the 2.

The reason it was stalled is I was waiting for engagement on the last hands posted, or for others to post their hands. Which is always welcome I like looking at the spots others find themselves in, helps me get a fresh perspective. I got no rules on what or how people want to post their formats, I have come up with a decent one for clarity sake, but images are great to - if you provide a backstory for people to follow. Now that I;ve posted here I'll keep[ an eye and chime in if this thread carries on, as I generally just check out threads I've posted in these days. Found this after it was linked over lol.

The only thing I report there are spammy low quality repetitive posts that add nothing to the discussion. Almost verbatim for my reports

the more the merrier IMO. i want to see less dice and more poker on bitcointalk!
Agreed. Make Poker Great Again lol
663  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Poker talk - Specifically Hold'em - Hands and or strategy on: May 01, 2020, 06:34:46 PM
Thanks, I was waiting for that one video from April 18th Cheesy We already talked a bit about that one hand in the chat:
https://youtu.be/E1JzpZtnDaM?t=2243
I had you on pocket pair JJ or a bit worse, but not TT, or the hand you were actually holding (AK). I "knew" you weren't that strong, so I could make you fold on the river. By trying to outsmart you, you actually outsmarted me, because I wasn't thinking it through till the end.
As said in the chat, I was expecting a river bet from you, where I then would have re-raised all-in. What I missed is that you were very unlikely to make a river bet with what I put you on. JJ would have probably done a small river bet, but all other hands just check behind with this board.
AJ is really a nightmare to me. Often times I just throw it away pre-flop - even on the button or SB - because I am traumatized with it.
You weren't necessarily wrong that I could have dropped a triple barrel bluff in that spot. These tournaments though had been in my head a bit as a lot of people were limping the nuts and not betting for value. So this was horrible for bluffs. Looking back on it now, I don't see me ever getting any extra chips bluffing that river. If you had bet that river I would have folded out.

Give it long enough you will hate all hands equally lol. The monster hands just hurt more and cause more damage to your stack when they go bad.  Grin

Okay let's talk about a new hand which I experienced earlier. I am not going to disclose what I did before I hear some of the experts input here:

Good to know that I am not alone. For me QQ and QJ are also nightmares.
IT's tough to say for sure as I can't tell how the action has gone so far. I'm going to guess something like them RFI preflop to something like 1200-1500. You call. Some larger size bet call or bet raise action on the flop.
Please fill us in on how this hand went.

Personally I'm going to check this turn. 2 reasons - 1 you are out of position here and betting here might just scare off your opponent. Secondly with a second A on the board they might be inclined to bet their Kx to push you off a heart or straight draw. You can easily call down or re-raise for value if they do go for it on the turn.
Secondly you aren't scared of any cards that come off except for a T or J that isn't hearts that could complete some straight draws. If you are beat by AK or KK or a suited heart connector like TJ, 9T something that flopped the nuts, you aren't getting away from it cheap in any case.

If it checks through look to bet the river.

Sunday April 26th
Thanks for recording and uploading these!
Not a problem it's nice to be able to look at hands sometimes. It would be neat to see if there was away after tournaments to get the video and do a voiceover commentary.

i've had a lot of this lately, QQ/KK into AA. it's tough because i've been playing mostly 6max---really hard to fold monsters when short handed and everyone is calling/raising light. SwC loves dealing out them cooler cards! Tongue
I've had the idea for bustout spots for about a week, but I keep snap closing the browser and forgetting to go back and grab the hand. I need to put some effort in and gather all my hands in one spot - playing off 2 devices that don't have hold'em manager installed. That one isn't even top 10 this week.

Quote
i have also seen quite a few tough hands with TT and JJ lately. always an overcard or two on the flop, and with aggressive preflop betting, larger postflop pots than i like to see in that situation. i need to crunch the numbers and work out a solid postflop strategy with 99-JJ. i'm beginning to feel like there are some holes to plug.
I hate these spots really. It really only gets worse when you are OOP. In position as the caller I call a flop bet, I feel most aggressors carry on with 80-100% cbets on those kinds of boards. So a lot of the time you are still good. The turn is iffy and really comes down to pot-odds and SPR, if you can afford it and they continue with a turn bet.

It's not bullet proof, but Ideally you just check call to the river if the price is good enough. You can generally get the feel for someone who starts to go for value, and getting bluffed off a lower pair isn't the worst thing as it won't happen all the time. I like the check call with 1 over, 2 or more and it becomes way more of a gamble. If you are OOP, this is one of the spots I've considered using a donk bet either on the flop or the turn. You can get a bit more information depending on whether they call or raise, sometimes you just generate the fold as they place you on a strong holding that hit
664  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: M20S acting up - Error 2010 on: May 01, 2020, 06:20:48 AM
Yeah I can't be sure what's right and/or wrong with any of it. I've never been a fan of their troubleshooting or problem solving. Not surprised they had the wrong firmware as they miss details and waste time, especially when it comes to versions of boards and compatible firmware. I'm going to reach out to the North Carolina center and see if this is something they can take care of, i know the board versions as long as it's labeled correctly. It just sucks having to do it via SD card. I've never had an issue using the Whatsminer tool, but this is just frustrating.

Well about time. I've had the miner online for 2 days now. Just glad to be that far ahead.

https://hmtech.co/  (919) 283-2715  they do repair m20s  they sold me a m20s psu  a p21

These guys saved the day and the turnaround was pretty much same day. If it wasn't for the local UPS sub contractor sucking out again I would have been online last week. Either way anyone who has anything Whatsminer should look these guys up.

Would have been nice to not need the SD card in the first place. The 2 m10's I've had to reset came back just fine with no firmware issues.
665  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Poker talk - Specifically Hold'em - Hands and or strategy on: May 01, 2020, 06:16:25 AM
First off I'll repost the videos of the Bitcointalk poker series here.
Saturday April 18th
Sunday April 19th
Saturday April 25th
Sunday April 26th

I fared rather poorly throughout but if you see any plays in there you want to talk just post a link.

Secondly I thought I might take this thread in a different direction. I'll still bring the odd spot here and there but I am going to begin posting the hands that bust me. Some of these I'm sure I should get away from at some point but most of them I feel I made the right decision and play. This one though, has confirmed I gave poker the will to manifest and show me how much it truly detests me.

Here I sit with about 6 BB 2 off the money. I have been folding out hands for the last 40 minutes roughly. I have watched 4 smaller stack double up on crazy draws. Then I am tossed this lifeline...
Game Hand #331173253 - Tournament #20417475 - Holdem(No Limit) - Level 28 (2750.00/5500.00)- 2020/05/01 05:18:59 UTC
Table '20' 9-max Seat #1 is the button

*** HOLE CARDS ***
Main pot 5280.00
Dealt to hero [Kc Kh]
Hero raises 32448.00 to 32448.00 and is all-in

Villain BB calls 26948.00
*** FLOP *** [9d 3s 7s]
Main pot 72926.00
*** TURN *** [9d 3s 7s] [4d]
Main pot 72926.00
*** RIVER *** [9d 3s 7s 4d] [Qs]
Main pot 72926.00
*** SHOW DOWN ***
Main pot 72926.00
Villain [As Ah] (a pair of Aces [As Ah Qs 9d 7s])
Hero shows [Kc Kh] (a pair of Kings [Kh Kc Qs 9d 7s])

So I've had a few of these lately. AA dropping to 77 all-in pre. Couple of over pairs to a board losing to flopped sets. Top Top losing to flopped sets and or flopped straights... those were interesting. So I figured why not share some of the misery  Tongue
666  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcointalk Poker Nights Discussion Thread (private games for btctalk members) on: May 01, 2020, 06:06:24 AM
push/fold at 15-20 big blinds is overkill IMO.

even when i'm legit short-stacked (like 8-10 big blinds), i like to mix in stop-and-gos rather than just open shoves.
I don't mind having a small range for jamming here. More so around 15BB but sometimes it just makes sense especially in a late position.

In regards to starting stacks. Personally for all tournaments I wouldn't mind having a starting stack around 7500 - 10000. With a short late reg like 30 minutes. Most of the people playing seem to be able to make it work so keeping this shorter for reg/rebuys if available still keep the overall length down. You could go with say an 8 minute level and see how it goes. Just my thoughts on the overall matter. For a championship game I think the more chips the better. Makes for a more interesting game, playing real deep and lets people really mix in some plays.

Also personally I wouldn't seeing a few non-series tournaments. I'm not liekly going to be able to play in many series tournaments moving forward so just having a one off weekly or a longer series season would be something I'd like to see.
667  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcointalk SwC Championship Poker Series(50 mBtc added by SwC) on: May 01, 2020, 05:52:41 AM
Thanks for the password. I don't think I'll be playing in the runner up tournament good luck to all who play. Looking forward to seeing who takes down the Series Championship. Here are links to the Last 4 tournaments. Not a ton of Hole cards as I didn't run deep in any of them. I didn't get a chance to edit out some dead time, especially last weekend before I figured out the multitable view.

Saturday April 18th
Sunday April 19th

668  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcointalk SwC Championship Poker Series(50 mBtc added by SwC) on: April 26, 2020, 03:32:19 PM
Why there aren't any rules against it. All tournaments were open to anyone from the forum that wanted to play; so long as they sent the 200 chips for the championship prizepool.

It should be seen as more of a donation to that prizepool than anything.
669  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcointalk SwC Championship Poker Series(50 mBtc added by SwC) on: April 25, 2020, 08:14:22 PM

Yeah, Newb2370 is wheelz1200!

Btw, Steamtyme, I am glad you were recording tonight so everybody can experience that major suckout!!!  Cool Cheesy
Yeah that was a tough break. Nothing you could do there. If it helps QQ is the hand I had that crippled me, against 44 second time this series 44 had been the better hand.
See you tomorrow

Good job wheelz. Ties were discussed a while back it will be the best average finish over all games played.

Who is this Newb2379? I can not remember him seeing in the forum. I had him and  1r0n1c in my to knock out before me but Newb2379 had something else in mind. Only one tourney left and with having only 10 points, I am already out from the tournament but tomorrow is going to be different day for me. Count me in.
I believe that is wheelz1200. I can't remember where we are all listed but that's how I tagged them at the tables.
671  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcointalk SwC Championship Poker Series(50 mBtc added by SwC) on: April 25, 2020, 01:54:15 PM
I'm not sure if yahoo posted anymore of these updates but after the first weekend here is where the buy-in portion of the prizepool stood
Just an update for everyone so you know what we have collected.

Currently 24 have paid fee for todays game and 15 are registered. Total collected so far to add to the prize pool for Champions game is 18,800 chips but 200 will be refunded to GretaThunder who paid fee for yesterday but did not play or can be used for a different tourney, their choice.

The last 2 weekends we had good numbers so the pool is likely to be over 100 mBtc including the SWC donation.

Not for sure but just to give an idea.

On a video not I have been working all week and didn't have time to upload. I'll get them up this weekend and record these games as well. Sorry for the delay.
672  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Over paying for hash power, why? on: April 24, 2020, 01:02:54 PM
Well I wish it would have carried on for a few more days. I was planning on switching over tonight just to squeeze out some extra.
No biggie hopefully i finally get my m20s online today if my package arrives and i have to do a psu swap *fingers crossed* to get an m10 back in action.

I am not surprised by the marketing tactcs used to try and draw people in. They technically were that profitable for that snapshot in time. It's like any other "investment" the past data only reflects that period and really only shows what can be possible.

Some people will definitely buy in but if they don't realize at the time of pointing their gear there that their expected rewards have come back around to normal profitability, that really is on them.
673  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcointalk Poker Nights Discussion Thread (private games for btctalk members) on: April 22, 2020, 10:15:20 PM
a couple top 3-4 finishes and you're back in it---a challenge but certainly not impossible, knowing your game. Wink

the format is a little unpredictable. some underdogs could still emerge victorious if ranks #7-11 don't perform this weekend.
Cool Thanks for the vote of confidence. Saturday will be telling but I'll likely be playing both days anyways, always down for an interesting game.
I've had some absolutely disgusting beats the last couple weeks, so just waiting to get on the other side of things. Can't run bad forever lol.
If I can find them across my devices I'll post them in my thread for a laugh.
674  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcointalk Poker Nights Discussion Thread (private games for btctalk members) on: April 21, 2020, 01:08:24 PM
why don't we just run a regular tourney (standings don't matter) at the same time, for everyone who doesn't make the championship? that would be more fun IMO. even if i make the championship, i'm happy to play both tables at once.
I am down for another non series tournament if we can get people together. I have next to no chance of playing in the finals but will still be playing this weekend, and will be free for the finals weekend as well. I am trying to participate in all tournament being held just to support them.

The wednesday sportsbet.io freeroll doesn't work for me this week as I'm plugging away at work this week. They are also a long run to the final table lol. Hopefully they take some of my suggestions to heart and work in their "betting layout".
675  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Over paying for hash power, why? on: April 21, 2020, 12:55:13 PM
Another possibility which doesn't go against any of the above points or I rather call them facts is a software bug, we could easily assume that nicehash is almost entirely controlled by bots, a simple glitch in the software makes the bot do stupid things.
This was more what I was referring to with my stupidity comment. People trust bots to handle a lot of things and if they got complacent or missed a small error they could easily wipe out a lot of value depending on the amount of funds they started with.
I still lean heavily on the laundering as being more likely than the bot error. It's possible it could be both.
676  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Over paying for hash power, why? on: April 20, 2020, 10:04:34 PM
I can only think of laundering as a reason for overpaying. Whether it be FIAT, or more likely old/tainted coins into new coins either to avoid taxation or muddy the trail.
Apart from that there is always human error and/or stupidity.
677  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcointalk SwC Championship Poker Series(50 mBtc added by SwC) on: April 19, 2020, 05:36:47 PM
Well that lasted about a half hour morvillz7z seemed to have the better card every hand I was against them or thought about getting in. The QQ vs KK was the finisher.

Happy Holidays efialitis.

I'm going to have to step it up and find some better spots or a spot in the finals will slip out of reach. The one person I didn't want to see call me when trying to get action with my JJ was Sygambler and their QQ held fast.
I would have put the video from yesterday up but I was on the trampoline with the kids and missed when it went to the final table and I wasn't recording so I have a bit of editing to do tonight and then it will be uploaded.

Good luck today evereyone
679  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcointalk SwC Championship Poker Series(50 mBtc added by SwC) on: April 18, 2020, 05:23:39 PM
Hey everyone I got in and am recording again. Can't chat though. I had connection issues getting started and the chat box never came up proper.
I should download the client on the PC i play and record these from. Maybe that will help keep things smooth.

Good luck all

I unfortunately lost the notes I had taken down during the poker tournament but here are a few of the suggestions I can remember off the top of my head.

Betting is a bit of a mess if you want to do anything custom. A few times when I was trying to type out a custom bet it caused an error and then the bet button was blank regarding an amount. "Bet size not defined" is what it said I believe, in the end you can still bet but it's a min bet/raise. This is a big issue imo, as most people do not choose to use the standard bet size buttons. So even when it works properly it's cumbersome. You should not have to click on the slider and then also click on the box to type out your desired bet... this takes up to much time and causes problems, mostly because it is a pop up. I think the input for a custom bet should just be there underneath the standard buttons for ease of use. I personally don't like or use sliders and rely heavily on typing out my betsize.

I would also like to see an option to customize the betsizes available on the standard buttons. I can't remember what they were but it would be nice to be able to put in something like 1/3, 70%, or even custom preflop raise sizes. Another feature that I like on some other sites is being able to toggle between a BB and Chip amount display on the table.

Apart from that I couldn't find away to view the tournament overall standings without leaving the table. It would be nice if this could be brought up as a pop-up in another window to check standings. The Mini-stats that display in game actually locked up for me during the tournament. Right up until the end it was stuck at "X out of 45" so I was kind of lost for a bit.

Hopefully you find these criticisms helpful. I have enjoyed the games I've been a part of on sportsbet.io and appreciate what they have invested in making these available to the community.
