RCB the meme team and Strac the glorious clown. The former bottled the chase, which was going smoothly and the latter individual was just simply amazing.

There are 2 types of tailenders, international and club level. Starc was spanked for 3 sixes by a club level tailender, the poor guy is not enjoying his time in KKR.

New Zealand has no answer to the Pakistani pace battery, as they got bowled out for just 90 runs. Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah and Mohammad Amir were all unplayable at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The Kiwis were forced to open with Tim Seifert and Tim Robinson, with Dean Foxcroft at one down. Rachin Ravindra is busy playing IPL, while Devon Conway is injured. Kane Williamson would have been no.3, but he is also busy with the IPL.
Surprising that Pakistan went with full strength team against this 2nd-string Kiwis outfit. They could've also tried their bench strength in this series.

No 300 mark tonight so moral victory for Delhi  Grin Time to go with 11 batters and introduce bowling machine in the IPL.

^^ Just 4 overs of Powerplay and their shoulders are down already lol. Considering the kind of treatment they are getting from Head and Abhishek, I won't blame them much.

Humiliation is going on, still early but feeling bad for them haha. Another 250+ is loading tonight.

Edit
Maybe 300!

Does anyone else think that Dhoni should be in a little earlier?

I get that he is a finisher and he did his job well. But at the stage when CSK was 90/5, Dhoni could have come in and scored much more quickly. Because we saw that the track was not as bad as it looked earlier. And if he was in earlier I think the score could have been bigger.

What I am trying to say is that Dhoni has saved India from similar situations like that a lot of times in the past and also in his prime. But the thing is the score was not that bad. The bowlers of CSK did not do a good enough job as well. The performance from LSG was really good by the way. The way they attacked from the start and finished comfortably, definitely is going to give them a lot of confidence as well. Great win for LSG after two losses.
Here is another argument.

Dhoni is 42 yo wicketkeeper batsman. Let's say he comes as early as 4-5 down, so most of the time after 12 or 14 overs and in case of some collapse then maybe in between 8-12 overs. That's a period where spinners operate and the field is spread, you have to rotate the strike and even try for doubles (don't forget he's old and WK). Also, he used to be good against spinner but not anymore, as far as hitting 6s is concerned.

That's a big problem with Indian players. No one, literally no one wants to announce their retirement and love to extend their career in every possible way. Most of the time because of their brand value.

He can say anything he wants but everything depends on the selectors and selection should be on merits. If he's fit enough to do yard hards with good form and compete for the slot with young players despite turning 40 then he has every right.
I agree as Indian cricket is touching new highs with their huge success in IPL and having good things adopted which are increasing their quality and consistency it's time for players as well they follow footsteps of English and Australian players while they feel they are going down they announce their time for retirement which helps selectors and also help youths to done hard work for filling their spot but here we have no sportsmanship just because of their big brands which are giving them huge funds and their lifestyle is completely luxurious due to them.

As mentioned above he is currently 37 he needs to announce his retirement date, but he is insisting about he is going to play for 2 to 3 more years which is really shameful act for the legendary player like him with usually we have many players from SENA take retirement and started their new journey which helps them and also creating good atmosphere for the new generation players.
They'll do exactly the opposite for obvious reasons.

Even Pujara and Rahane are not announcing their retirement, despite knowing that their time is over and they generally have virtually no brand value. So in this regard, fans shouldn't expect much from established players like Rohit or Kohli.

There is some controversy surrounding Rohit Sharma's recent statement that he is looking forward to play in the ODI World Cup of 2027. He is about to turn 37 this month and by the time of next world cup he will be 40 years old. I am not sure whether the BCCI will be very happy with Rohit playing in ODI format despite his age.

https://www.indiatvnews.com/sports/cricket/india-tv-poll-result-should-rohit-sharma-play-the-icc-2027-cricket-world-cup-as-hinted-by-him-2024-04-18-926855

IMO, India should go with a younger team rather then depending too much on players such as Kolhi, Rohit and Shami. These players failed to win the ODI World Cup even once, so what is the point in persisting with them?

Looks easy peasy for Lucknow but would be epic fun if they mess up from here lmao

Overall, in this season CSK looks like a weak outfit or at least performs below par when playing away from home. Their best hope is to make into finals and rely on some luck after all, the final is scheduled in their backyard.

After a quick burst, Lucknow's blue-eyed boy Mayank Yadav seems to miss all the action. Not sure if he's going to last for long with these sorts of injuries.

I was quite hopeful about Mayank. He had the rare combination of accuracy and raw pace. But if he can't keep himself away from injuries, then he will end up like Kamlesh Nagarkoti (he was unsold during the 2024 auction). If you remember, Nagarkoti was the star of U-19 World Cup in 2018. He played a dozen or so IPL matches for KKR and DC in the next 2-3 years, but now his career seems to have ended as a result of back stress fractures. I don't want the same thing to happen with Mayank.
Arey yaar that 2018 batch had very promising bowling talent, now only Arshdeep is around and even Shivam Mavi is going sideways. Well, at least we got 3-4 batters from that batch (Abhishek (SRH), Gill, Prithvi and Riyan Parag).

Surprisingly Jaddu is doing well tonight, had no hope seriously though but it's good news for ICT fans.

It's time for Jadeja to shine with a bat, it's been a while since he played any Impactful inning and surely not with a timid approach.

The match is completely under Punjab's control now. I don't see any possibility that Punjab will lose this match.

How can you not? PBKS was already 7 wickets down and Ashutosh was only pure batter on crease (he just got out BTW) and now MI has advantage.
This season their only job is to provide spectators a thriller and give Priti Zinta a heart attack.  Grin

Man, the way Ashutosh was going, I am sure many were rooting for him to take his team to victory. Imagine the viral meme content on social media, if they had won tonight.
31  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: April 18, 2024, 04:53:53 PM
Half side is already gone so clearly things are tough for Punjab.

Now they are left with only 3 recognized batters (Shashank, Jitesh and Ashutosh), asking RR is not out of control atm as 11rpo is hardly a daunting sight in the T-20 format but wickets are a big issue. They need some fine effort from these 3 batters otherwise the match is already gone.
32  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: April 18, 2024, 03:18:51 PM
MI smooth sailing atm with about 9 rpr with Surya and Rohit on crease, with these two being destructive in themseleves plenty batting yet to come, I foresee 200-220 target.

Punjab might not be a top team but they give close chases, so should be entertaining.
I feel Punjab's bowlers doing a more than satisfactory job.

I was expecting MI's top 3 to run through but the bowlers didn't allow them to. Mumbai got the big guns but only 30 balls left so they need to start moving before it's too late. Their bowling is not clicking like it used to be (Barring Bumrah) so they need an extra cushion of 10-20 runs for the bowlers.

This season teams are scoring 200 for fun and a new rule of Impact player also adds some runs into it but despite everything tonight we have a completely different scoreboard.

I am sure this pitch would get criticized as well and rightly so. Scorelines of 250+ and under 100 are 2 extremes and the pitch curator should avoid this in the T-20 format, otherwise, it won't be fun anymore.

The problem here is that the curator who made 250+ is going to get accolades, while the one who created the pitch for today's match is going to get brickbats. T20 has changed, for better or the worse. 200 plus totals are the norm now. Yesterday we saw how the Royals chased down a target of 224. That makes today's match an exception. Capitals are not going to complain, as they benefitted from it. And I am not sure what the Titans can do about it, as this was a home match for their team and the curator took instructions from them.
IPL is a 70-ish match-long tournament so I won't mind 7-8 such extreme scenarios be it a run fest or epic meltdown for the batters. These kinds of scorelines create a lot of buzz from every type of fan which is good for the overall business.

As I said many times, Chinnaswamy Stadium has some unique problems and is considered a graveyard for bowlers. This must be addressed at some time because you can't have batters running riot like this every single time. Again, a one-off 250+ is completely fine with me and you are right about the curator getting some brownie points at first because of Batriarchy domination in cricket but there are consequences as well and the same goes for low-scoring (Under 100) venues.

GT vs DC time! Am expecting DC to win this one primarily thanks to Khaleel, Kuldeep etc even though they are the clear underdogs in this particular match. Hope it turns out to be a thriller.

The impressive thing was that he won the match with tailenders, normally teams win such encounters with 2 pure batters batting together where one plays second fiddle but batting with tailenders is another ball game and not everyone's cup of tea.
Yeah. He's truly something else. I was waiting to place a bet on KKR to win once Buttler got out, but he never got out and helped his team go all the way. KKR almost messed up in a similar manner against SRH sometime back.
Some lucky punters might have made a killing when RR's winning chances were less than 1%, truly bonker and considering the outcome, I won't hesitate to say that one of the best 100 I've witnessed in recent times as far as T-20 is concerned.

Surprisingly DC bossing the game atm, well these guys need 2 points badly.

36  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Women's Cricket Prediction & Discussion - T20 & ODI on: April 17, 2024, 01:34:32 PM
The third ODI between South Africa Women and Sri Lanka Women has started, with South Africa batting first. Remember that South Africa had won the second ODI between the two teams (with the first one being washed out). Sri Lanka need to win this match to avoid a whitewash. But it looks unlikely as of now, with the two openers (Laura Wolvaardt and Lara Goodall) looking comfortable out there in the middle. A total of 250 or more would be enough for South Africa to win this match.
Their main problem is they are overdependent on Chamari Athapaththu, she's keeping together Lankan's batting lineup and whenever she fails, most of the time they end up losing the match.

Sometimes they even expect her to do overtime with the ball as well. In contrast, Protea W comes hard at the opposition as a unit.

It's tough to believe that this is the same Buttler who was struggling like crazy last season and the initial part of this season. He is truly a proper legend who has saved RR on multiple occasions over the years.

KKR's bowling(Excluding Narine) and fielding were abysmal. The moment where Starc bowled a wide and Salt let it go for a boundary cracked me up. Pathetic stuff!
I don't remember his form in the last season but saw some stat that his 8 tons came in last 30-35 IPL matches, all in winning cause.

The impressive thing was that he won the match with tailenders, normally teams win such encounters with 2 pure batters batting together where one plays second fiddle but batting with tailenders is another ball game and not everyone's cup of tea.

Oh boy! Buttler you beauty. Paisa wasool match.

The match was done and dusted for the Royals but madlad singlehandedly did it in style and that too after a dull middle order performance. This loss is going to sting KKR so much, Poor Starc is not having a good time.

39  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: April 16, 2024, 03:02:18 PM
Chinnaswamy has been a graveyard for bowlers for ages but this time, a couple of other venues are also going in the same direction, which isn't a pleasant sight and at times, a bit surprising to me.

For Visakhapatnam, Wankhede (Traditionally, Which is good for bowlers) I'd like to believe that it's a one-off case and things should get easier for bowlers because the pitch will wear off and get old as the tournament progresses.

While high-scoring matches can be entertaining, this time around such things turn into this chaos. How about bowlers just improve on these pitches? Nowadays, pitches are becoming too flat. It's not ideal as there's no balance between batting and bowling, which makes the game less interesting. So, several changes could be introduced. I'd prefer to have a minimum boundary length enforced, but that might be unrealistic since stadiums worldwide vary in size. However, RR has the best bowling economy in the IPL this season so far.
It's not like IPL is not innovating. 2 bouncers rule came out for a reason and it favors the bowler, from an innovation perspective Impact player is another one but it favors the batting side because with this you have 8 proper batters in the playing XI and from for ball one batter gets confidence and they go hard, knowing fully well that they still have 7 batters in the piggy bank.

We can't do much about the boundaries line because of the small stadium, competitive pitches can solve this. For example, small stadiums should have a bowling-friendly pitch and the opposite for normal stadiums.
40  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: April 16, 2024, 01:46:20 PM
Impact player rule plays a big part here but

Short boundaries and flat pitches are equally responsible for this chaos. In White ball cricket or particularly T-20I/Franchise cricket i don't mind, bat dominating the ball or In a long tournament like IPL, 2-3 such matches are okay but this sort of humiliation should not become a norm at any cost and equation should be 60-40 in favor of batters.
Agreed. It's more like 80-20 in favor of batsmen currently in the IPL which is seriously crazy if you think about it. I fear that it will only get worse for bowlers in the IPL as time progresses.
