2641  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Crypto bans are temporary, we are on the right side of history. on: February 09, 2022, 11:29:49 PM
In the opening post it is described about the telephone industry that is one the move to ban internet phone software. Things have changed slowly and today in an article read about Pollen Mobiles with a new paying users in crypto to grow the network. The concept is very simple, instead of setting very big towers this network have planned to install small towers mentioned as flowers which is about 6feet height. People can place it in their homes, offices and provide service to the surrounding. This makes them to be an affordable network with low cost. Apart, this network pay in their native tokens for the people who install the towers and provide service. This reminds me about the mining process with bitcoin were miners are rewarded.

How does this relate to the topic?

Sounds like another shitcoin made to just milk the shit out of ignorant newbies. I will be damned if the token and project make it past 2025 (I am even being generous here).

2642  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Is a Globalization agent Rather than A price and data tools on: February 09, 2022, 10:57:05 PM
Well said but a globalization tool mostly controlled by a few rich people is still a bad idea.
But he already said Bitcoin is nothing close to being a "globalization agent"... Don't you get the point he put accross?

And where does the idea of the rich few come from? How do they control the way the Bitcoin network works anyway?
Do they control the transaction fees?
Do they control how Blocks are mined?
Do they control the network's consense mechanism?
2643  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Is Pangolin mines (https://pangolinmines.com/) a SCAM ? on: February 08, 2022, 11:59:57 PM
Notice the domain name difference?

pangolinmines.com is a scam site and a copycat of pangolinminer.com which is a legit site. So you got scammed, sorry about that.

Here is a review thread about Pangolinminer.com by @Steamtyme --> Pangolinminer.com a MicroBT distributor and seller of Hard Goods
2644  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Open source crypto wallet on: February 08, 2022, 11:29:25 PM
Newbie here, is open source the most secured crypto wallet?
Open source doesn't automatically make a wallet the most secure, but it means that the code is available for the public to audit and to ensure if the code used to create the wallet is malicious or not

Quote
Do centralised wallets have open source too
I don't know any that is Open source

Quote
or its only decentralized wallets that can be open source?
Some of them are.

Quote
What mobile wallets are open source?
For some reason, very few mobile wallets are open source. I think there's mycelium wallet, Unstoppable wallet, Bitcoin wallet etc

Use this sites to guide you
1. https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet?step=5&platform=android&important=transparency
2. https://walletscrutiny.com/#tableofwallets

A wallet on your computer or phone is as safe as your device is. But here you can find open source ones, like Bitcoin Core (but beware, this one downloads 300GB = the whole blockchain, hence may not be suitable for newbies), Electrum (which has versions for PC and also mobile), Sparrow wallet, and probably many more.

Correct me if am wrong, but I think electrum mobile wallet is not open source
2645  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I have a question about bitcoin purchases. on: February 08, 2022, 10:51:33 PM
When someone purchases bitcoins from a site like coinbase.com,
are they purchasing coins that have already been mined?
No - If you purchase the coins and keep them in a custodial wallet like coinbase.com. All you will be seeing in your account are figures of the "coins you own" that are off chain.

Yes - If you purchase the coins and transfer them to a noncustodial wallet like electrum. The coins you will be seeing in your account are on chain and this means they have already been mined at some point
2646  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining in Feb 2022 on: February 08, 2022, 10:23:54 PM
It's still too early to conclude. Bearish season doesn't mean the price of Bitcoin or altcoins will always be dropping, minus any rise. In Bear Markets, there are small price spikes, such as the recent one.

Otherwise, grab the sweet profits right now if you can because it won't last longer.
2647  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: What is your opinion on the method of payment for bounty rewards? on: February 08, 2022, 08:51:15 PM
It's you the bounty hunters that keep voluntarily encouraging the habit of being paid peanuts or worthless tokens. Why should you keep joining bounties very well, knowing they don't pay well?

It's a free market, they have a choice to pay whatever they want to pay, you also have a choice to join or not to join.
2648  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Crypto bans are temporary, we are on the right side of history. on: February 08, 2022, 03:45:51 PM
completely agreed mate , as we are looking towards more adoption though some regulatory but that is what we needed, rules must be in place but adoption will take place.
What rules?

The ones where Governments have to track and control people's spending?

Quote
because what we need is the acknowledgement of crypto frome ach country around the world as this will bring us more possitivities in this market and of course our investments.
Bitcoin has been doing fine even before approval by any Government. The market has been growing naturally as people realize that Bitcoin and some other cryptocurrencies are the real deal.
2649  Other / Meta / Re: No images in preview on: February 07, 2022, 11:56:01 PM
Well I just read a thread recently that the images do not work on the preview but after reading the whole thread it seems that he forgot to scroll up to show all preview
Here's the source that I'm talking about https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5228632.msg53917558#msg53917558
It's exactly what happened to me. I didn't know that one had to scroll upwards instead of downwards. I am not sure how many other members are or used to be like me.

I think the preview option should be made more obvious. Maybe place the previewed post right about the Topic Summary
2650  Economy / Reputation / Re: Neutral trust on: February 07, 2022, 11:28:56 PM
So it is very tricky when you actually promoting the scam, before or after it know to be one.

In the OP's case I don't know, did he promoted it before it was obvious scam or not.

Obviously, 1xbit have been scammers from their beginnings. I can see scam accusations or negative reviews as far as 2-3 years ago. From what I understand, OP wore their signature recently, which probably made other DT members think he was promoting an established scam company.

Why would you just wear a signature of a company you have no idea about? It was careless from his side.
2651  Other / Meta / Re: No images in preview on: February 07, 2022, 11:11:37 PM
I heard that someone can't able to see images on preview but if you post them directly it will show the image
I can confirm that you can actually see the image even on preview if you followed the right procedure. It took me so long to realize how this forum's preview option works, maybe that person was in the same shoes as me.
2652  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hypothetically keeping your bitcoin when you die? on: February 07, 2022, 11:00:26 PM
What's the point?   Grin

You think if you became a millionaire or Billionaire, you will have achieved everything in life?
Nope, you are wrong.

Death is part of life and it's inevitable. There's nothing you can do about it.
2653  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Purpose on: February 07, 2022, 10:49:16 PM
According to Bitcoin's purpose on the doc written by Satoshi, it stated the purpose of Bitcoin as a P2P medium of exchange.
...And that's still the purpose to this date.

Quote
But I see some companies using it for the purchase of Goods and Services which makes some governments interested in its regulations because the economy is involved.
Now that's entirely upon the companies and the people. They still have a choice on whether to go fully p2p or go under Government's control

Quote
Is this purpose going to take a turnaround?
Nope. Like I said, it's a choice. Bitcoin will still remain around with it's intended purpose

Quote
Because I see Bitcoin being accepted by some governments and regulated.
Bitcoin as a network cannot be regulated or controlled by government, and I don't think it will ever be.
2654  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: myminershop.com and allianceminers.com REVIEW - SCAM ALERT!!! on: February 07, 2022, 10:14:41 PM
Hi, I did find a copy of allianceminers!! AND a replay from them, I belive that somone accualy copy their website, I really don't know what to belive.
Here is their oficial replay, on some negative review
Reply from Allianceminers

"Either you are a scammer working for the copy of our website or a victim of:
Here it's the copy: singasicminer.com 20% modified, same template.

We will not flag your review, so everyone can see it."

The text above was copy from truspilot reviews, you guys can find it.
I believe you are talking about this review from Trustpilot

Of course as scammers, they have to find ways and pretend to be genuine, so the reply is meant to make some people think it's the copy that scammed you.

The truth is there are so many clone sites just like allianceminers and all of them are scam including allianceminers.
2655  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Buy/Sell Startups on: February 07, 2022, 10:02:57 PM
Just IPOs not ICO's/IEO's?

From the lessons I learned through ICOs/IEOs. Buying and selling a startup is a game of hype and luck. There are very few startups that were genuine and  worth investing into.
2656  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I finally find my way to this forum on: February 07, 2022, 09:47:38 PM
So here I am, new to bitcointalk today what and what benefits can a newbie gets from spending their time on this forum? I also get to know that the BTC creator made this forum is this true or false?
Welcome to the forum.

You get to learn about Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. How to trade and secure you assets and also a number of business ideas based on cryptocurrencies.

This current forum's domain name was registered on 2011-06-24, several months after Satoshi's last activity. Initially, the forum I believe Satoshi used to make those posts was SourceForge forum before everything was migrated into Bitcointalk forum.
2657  Other / Off-topic / Re: Is this not worth it? on: February 07, 2022, 09:27:34 PM
I don't think it was a mistake to leave your job because right now you earn more than you used and an on top of that you avoided the annoying and controlling boss.

I would suggest you to keep learning new things and new ways of improving your weekly or monthly income, and you diversify. Trading stocks or crypto is no easy task too.
2658  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is NFT real store of value on: February 05, 2022, 10:50:07 PM
I don't think that NFTs are real store of value because they have no liquidity and volume, how can one say that NFT is a real store of value when you can only sell if anyone is willing to buy,
Who said NFTs are a real store of value to begin with?
NFTs are just another phase of hyped shitcoins that will die out with time and when this happens, people will realize how silly they way to waste valuable ETH or BNB to buy this NFTs
2659  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Secure Asset Fund for Users (SAFU) on: February 05, 2022, 10:42:48 PM
I did not read about them in detail, in-short Binance is the only one who has such Fundl for (protecting money in case of hacking)
Do these Funds (Bitmex, Bybit) cover exchange bugs?
The insurance Fund in most derivatives exchanges such as Bitmex and Bybit is used only for the derivatives market of particular exchanges. The fund does not help with anything outside the derivatives market such as exchange bugs, exploits or hacks.

Insurance fund is only used to reduce chances of Auto Deleveraging of positions due to rapid market movement leading to so many bankrupt positions that weren't liquidated at the required Liquidation price.

I don't know if you understand what I am saying.
2660  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto-Currency in Africa on: February 05, 2022, 10:30:54 PM
Crypto-Currency Storms the continent with its digital appearance that making the citizenries more confused.
Cryptocurrencies are actually a getaway card from the old fiancial system that has been keeping Africa underdeveloped

Quote
Crypto-currency is not a physical cash or currency that the primitive men or market women can easily use for their transaction of goods and services in Africa. But internet base or computerized currency. Statistically, about 80% of inhabitants in Africa can't access Internet plus high cost of devices.
Lol. 80% of the inhabitants can't access internet? Where do you get these stats from. I don't know Africa well but this can't be true.
