1241  Economy / Gambling / Bitoin Online Poker Players Are Better- Is It True? on: October 03, 2015, 01:46:31 AM
Historically, I have been able to consistently turn a profit on online and real life poker games. In the realm of Bitcoin, however, I struggle not to lose my bank roll. My friend, who used to play at Seals with Clubs, started playing on Carbon Poker (large online poker site) several months back. He told me he was amazed at how bad everyone was. He was able to earn pretty consistently on SWC, but he told me that even at larger stakes, winning was so much easier.

Does anyone else have claims or thoughts on the idea? I assume that the demographic of Bitcoiners may be of higher intellect than the average population, but I have no proof to back up my claim.
1242  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: good places to hide paper wallet ? on: October 03, 2015, 01:40:16 AM
In all honesty, just put it where you would put something such as gold coins or other precious materials. As others have mentioned, a safety deposit box would work fine. If you don't have access to one, or are wary of your local bank, you could probably hide it just about anywhere in your home. I would avoid putting it in something like a safe, as robber would probably think less of a QR code if it was hidden in an ordinary spot. Maybe in a cabinet with other files?
1243  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Methods of growing your Bitcoin? on: October 03, 2015, 01:36:55 AM
The best method to earn bitcoins and to control your earnings from mining is to mine yourself at your home/farm.
Because you manage all the stuff, all your coins and you have not to worry about the payday from cloud mining.
There is a high risk to invest in cloudmining as they have become mistrust and the chances to get scammed are high.

i'm trying mining but it does not work.
I am not able to set all the stuff.

Mining would be more profitable if you have a lot of rigs like them
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8kua5B5K3I
and you live in the country where the electricity is cheap, i never mining bitcoin before because my friend told that mining is unprofitable anymore

This is inspiring but it does not work in all countries.
China produces these mining rigs and you can buy them cheap if you live in that country.
The electricity is cheap because china gets the electricity from hydrocentrals.

I think so especially in my country where the electricity shut down frequently
thats the reason why china is a bigest holder of bitcoin,
in china there is mining company who owned by a secretive group of four people, cumulatively generated 4,050 bitcoins a month, equivalent to a monthly gross of $1.5 million

If i find the youtube link i will send to you.
I have seen in youtube that a secret underground mining farm is in USA which generates around 10,000 bitcoins within a month.
That's a lot of money, and they are/were paying a lot in electricity(can't remember exactly but the price was very large).

In all honesty, the likelihood of profitting from mining is so small that it doesn't really belong in this thread. These super mines that you all have been mentioning do make considerable profits, but the amount of capital and investment required for such a venture is so large that I doubt anyone with access to such funds would be browsing this thread.
1244  Economy / Economics / Re: Is it helpful or harmful to the Bitcoin to offer products/services only in BTC? on: October 03, 2015, 01:33:21 AM
I almost ready to open a small general store and I have been going back and forth with myself on rather its of more importance to make the store exclusively for Bitcoin, include the local currency as well as BTC, or if it makes a difference one way or other? Thoughts? Experiences? Suggestions?

In my view, it won't be harmful for bitcoin, as it provides more buisness for bitcoin, even marginally, but it will be harmful for the seller, as he will find trouble finding someone with bitcoin/wanting to spend their bitcoin

Virtually all merchants who accept bitcoin immediately convert to fiat through a payment processor, so they're never actually receiving the bitcoin, just offering it as a payment option.

This is true, but in the case of OP, the question is whether or not to only offer BTC as a payment method. In this case, it is unlikely that the store owner is going to convert their BTC to a local currency right away, since they would also accept said local currency in addition to Bitcoin.

Either way, in this case, it certainly is harmful. Bitcoin users are an extremely small minority, and I highly doubt that any mainstream business could survive through exclusive acceptance of Bitcoin.
1245  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin in 2100 of year on: October 03, 2015, 01:27:36 AM
Surely in 2100 bitcoin will be gone but as for now bitcoin will be
Rising to the top and slowly going down but before that bitcoin will leave
a legacy as a free currency.

I don't see how it will "surely" be gone in 100 years. We have never seen something like this before so its very hard to speculate with, but if older currencies have lasted for centuries, a digital currency that can get improved and updated over time will surely last more than 100 years.

I could very well imagine and even expect that 100 years from now, something far superior in the form of digital currency could very well take the place of Bitcoin. Bitcoin played a vital role in the creation of a new function, but if digital currency is something that is still in use in 2100 (and I can't imagine it won't be) it's very possible that a more proper currency is in use. Bitcoin created the niche, but it certainly isn't perfect.
1246  Economy / Gambling / Re: Sign up +deposit under draft kings referral Earn .021 Btc! on: October 03, 2015, 01:20:39 AM
Does draft kings accept Bitcoin? Or will you first send us $5 through paypal or another method? I may be interested in this offer, if there is 0 risk involved for me. However, I would need to set up a VPN to access them through, which may not be worth the hassle for a $5 deposit.
1247  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: My goal to earn 1,000bitcoins within 3years on: October 03, 2015, 01:18:15 AM
Wow, so much negativity in this thread. OP has 3 years. If he spends a good portion of his time gambling, he should expect to get $10-20 in BTC at some point fairly early on. He says he has been playing poker for 11 years, and if he is a good player, he can certainly turn a small deposit such as that into 10,000 BTC. It will be a grind, and definitely a chance to lose it all, but poker isn't as much of a gamble as other methods. If he is serious about this, I definitely think that OP can do it.

11 years of playing poker but there is no result about it, he can't even save a little bit of his winning money. Lets say you can save it $10 each day for 11 years and that should be around $40,000 and that is a good amount of money. And I assume that is $10 for each day not more than that, poker should be easy to get your money if you win just one game

Valid point, but I personally interpreted his post as choosing to start from scratch and attempting to reach his goal with 0 deposit. I highly doubt the case is that he has 0 to his name. If it is, however, then that would indicate that he has no profit from 11 years of poker, and if that is the truth then I imagine the probability of reaching this goal is 0.
1248  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Simplistic fix for blocksize problem... on: September 30, 2015, 02:47:32 AM
You don't see why people don't simply just use another altcoin instead of Bitcoin? If you want to kill Bitcoin, it's not through a hardfork, but rather by simply not using it.

1250  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 21 Bitcoin Computer or Cloud Mining Website ? on: September 29, 2015, 09:54:57 PM
21 is overpriced and will never ROI

I don't think it's supposed to be a device that you would try and mine for profit on.

Nope. At this point in time, the 21 BTC computer is something that should solely be used by developers to create new mechanisms within the Bitcoin niche. The miner isn't there to make you a profit, it's there to generate enough BTC to communicate with the blockchain.

Either way, I'd still buy a Bitcoin computer. Investing in cloud mining is a great way to lose your BTC, and you might be able to resell your 21 for a profit if the initial hype causes a sell out.
1251  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Post the BIGGEST SCAM in bitcoin history according to you on: September 27, 2015, 08:26:53 PM
What about TradeFortress (I think that was his name at least). Probably not the largest scam in terms of BTC stolen, but I remember the event taking place right when I joined the community. TF was a hugely respected member, and the scam came completely out of nowhere. Seemed like a huge shock at the time to the community that someone with so much respect and trust would do such a thing.
1252  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: Personal story about faucets on: September 23, 2015, 09:38:09 PM
Fortunately, I never wasted too much time on traditional faucets.

i wouldn't say that. back in the day -- 2010, maybe 2011 -- i recall hearing that one could net a full bitcoin with just a few (or even one) faucet payout. man, those must have been the days! i figured a bitcent was still pretty damn good when i started collecting from faucets. these days -- huge waste of time, yeah.

To be fair yes, back in the days, you could earn 1 BTC or more per faucet claim. However, anyone who put enough time into Bitcoin back then to partake in the faucets was probably also involved in the community, which hosted much more generous giveaways.

Someone could be a millionaire if they did faucets back in the day diligently, but that opportunity has come and gone. I joined midway through 2013, and at that point faucets were long past the point of profitability.
1253  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: Personal story about faucets on: September 23, 2015, 09:27:28 PM
Fortunately, I never wasted too much time on traditional faucets. I spent a fair amount of time on faucets on gambling websites like Primedice, and took advantage of the free prizes on gambit (back when they were a bitcoin casino). I did make a reddit post for a Bitcoin minecraft server as a guide to earning bitcoin that included freebitco.in and a few others. I got a few referrals from that and I still earn a few cents of BTC each week passively for those.
1254  Economy / Lending / Re: Looking for a .9btc loan. Have collateral. on: September 23, 2015, 09:01:22 PM
I'm just offering that as collateral to show the sieriousness I have towards repayment an not being a scammer. I can provide Driverse license/bank statement pic with date if needed as well. Whichever works best for whoever would pickup my loan. I also realize I have barely any posts as I mostly just lurk around so I'm sure some people may think something of that. But I'm willing to give my info to a respected member of this board as well as my personal number incase there may be any questions.

If you are willing to offer up your car title as collateral you need to be super skeptical about who loans you the money. A lot of people on here are willing to trade .9 BTC and their trust for a car, make sure you only accept a loan from someone trustworthy.
1255  Economy / Goods / Re: Anyone Know of a Place to Buy Hoverboards With BTC? on: September 21, 2015, 01:59:56 AM
Are you talking about floboardsx? http://www.floboardx.com/
Or are you talking about the hendo hoverboard?  Because as far as I know they haven't been released yet.

Yeah, that's what I was referring to. However from the research I have done, all companies that are selling these hoverboards are more or less selling the same product, so I'd like to buy from somewhere with similar price to what I see on Amazon (in the low $300s).

Well, they do exist, I saw tony hawk riding one.  But that was just to build up hype, the governor's there is still a prototype I believe

Yea, the hendo, I've seen that one too. But as I mentioned in my initial reply they require special magnetic flooring tracks in order to work. They don't work anywhere except where the laid the special magnetic flooring.

Watch how they made the Lexus hoverboard and how it works:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bvYUq6Ox0Hc

From the youtube videos I have seen, they work on any flat surface.
1256  Economy / Goods / Re: Anyone Know of a Place to Buy Hoverboards With BTC? on: September 21, 2015, 01:07:58 AM
Hoverboards rely on set tracks currently and require a lot of liquid nitrogen to operate.
There was a cool video about the hoverboard made by Lexus for a car commercial, which I can't find right now...

Also interesting is the technology behind it quantum levitation https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=110&v=Ws6AAhTw7RA

Thanks for the really insightful post, but you completely missed the topic I asked in OP.

Try again please
1257  Economy / Digital goods / Re: [WTS] Sr. member on: September 21, 2015, 01:01:08 AM

If it is so then here is a free tool.
Here is a website to check just put the uid of the sr.member account
http://www.bctalkaccountpricer.info/   and let us know the result.

I tried it. Began as number forth in the queue and didn't get any results. It was on my phone with Dolphin as browser.

You should not close the tab,
But i have found another website (clone maybe). Check it here:
Hope the queue is clear http://www.visitorsbit.com/

I've personally used visitorsbit on several occasions, never had any problems. OP if you haven't already, try out this activity checker. It's went decently fast for me as well (although I was on desktop).
1258  Economy / Goods / Anyone Know of a Place to Buy Hoverboards With BTC? on: September 21, 2015, 12:57:49 AM
What the title says. A few of my friends have purchased hoverboards and I want to buy one too. I know that I can get one off of Amazon through purse.io but I would prefer to buy from a direct seller because A: from what I hear, it will be cheaper and B: it will be promoting Bitcoin and supporting a Bitcoin friendly company. Can anyone help me out?

1260  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is your favorite type of gambling? on: September 20, 2015, 12:26:23 AM
Historically, I have heavily favored poker as the ultimate form of gambling. However, I recently took up Parlay betting on NFL football, and it is quite the rush. With such a small bet, you can earn huge payouts by betting on a handful of games you feel good about. What's not to like about that?
