1221  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CLAM] CLAMs, Proof-Of-Chain, Proof-Of-Working-Stake, a.k.a. "Clamcoin" on: October 05, 2015, 01:28:21 AM
CLAM is a great altcoin, there's no reason it can't be used for other applications outside of gambling

What's the advantage of CLAM over other existing altcoins? What are the unique features?

That you can use them to play or invest in Just Dice Smiley

i can do this with btc already, much more popular

No, actually, you cannot Smiley

Real talk though, what is the point of using Clams outside of Justdice?

(Against my better judgement) I decided to hold onto my 9.6(?) clams from my 2 claims and trade with them rather than cash out. I've almost doubled my clams, but I've still lost money, as the price has plummeted from .013 per to .005 per. Is there any reason for me to continue to hold?

You can speculate that some day it might be used for something other than casino chips at Just-Dice. Or maybe not. Hard to say.

Is there any evidence that Clams could one day potentially fill a niche outside of dice money? I've seen a lot of talk, but that's all there has been since the launch... talk. I can't see anyone taking an altcoin that is literally given away too seriously.
1222  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you do with your idle coins? on: October 05, 2015, 01:24:22 AM
I just have them sitting... that's all. Im also looking for ways to generate interest out of my modest stack (less than 2 figures) but it seems "everything is a scam" and I get told by everyone everytime I ask it that I just should hodl.

BTCJam was an idea I had but apparently so many people default, they run with your money without any consequences and you just lose it.
Most "Put your money here and generate interest" things are just good ol ponzi schemes. It seems no one is coming up with a serious platform to securely do this.
So yeah im afraid we are stuck with holding and holding only.

Even if you are wary, I would still highly recommend BTCJam. Yes, it is possible that the person you loan can scam you and run off with your money. However, they have a pretty intuitive credit rating system over there, and you can pretty easily tell which loans are 100% legit or not. You can choose only to loan out to people with a high credit rating and extensive (flawless) loan history, and at that point it's a very low risk. The profit will not be too much on these lower risk loans, but it is much better than leaving your money sitting around doing nothing.
1223  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Is blockchain.info broken? on: October 05, 2015, 01:17:55 AM
Blockchain.info just concluded a stress test and i guess it is now better than before but what you encounter might also be as a result of your home internet network because it happened to me also.

No, blockchain is not conducting a stress test. For the past couple of days, an individual has been conducting a malleability attack on the network, and the outcome are the missing and double transactions found on blockchain.info, as well as other explorers.

If you are completely unfamiliar with the issue, essentially someone is broadcasting each transaction after it takes place separately, so that if his malicious transaction is processed first, the original transaction is not processed, and the wallets and explorers do not broadcast the transaction as taking place at all.

1225  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bank or Bitcoin Wallet? on: October 05, 2015, 01:12:01 AM
For storing your money?

Let's not fool ourselves. Banks are infinitely safer at this point in time. Sure, we can all spread FUD about how evil and insecure they are, but in a bank, our money is Federally ensured regardless of the circumstance.

Tell that to Cypriot or Greek

My apologies, sometimes I forget this is a global forum.

I cannot speak for everyone on earth, but in the United States, your money deposited into banks are Federally ensured (up to $250,000 I believe). This is infinitely more secure than the 0 insurance associated with a Bitcoin wallet.
1226  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Wallet that would allow messaging to another wallet?? on: October 05, 2015, 01:10:45 AM
I know you are asking about Bitcoin wallets, but since it has been shown above that this is not a feature embedded into Bitcoin, I would like to add this:

I wrote a bit on Opalcoin in the past, and the features surrounding that coin are pretty incredible. One of the embedded features into the core client is messaging between wallets, and IIRC they are also incorporating a file share system under the same concept as the messaging. I'm not sure how hypothetical your question is, but if this is a feature you need, maybe you could look into it.
1227  Economy / Gambling / Re: Where are you Gambling right Now !? on: October 05, 2015, 01:07:52 AM
I see a lot of folks talking about DirectBet for sports betting. I bet mostly on American football and MMA (so I might have a small sample size), but compared to Nitrogen and Betcoin, the juice at Direct Bet is much higher (especially on MMA)... are they more competitive with other sports. I love the setup there, but it seems to be one of the last places I look. Am I missing something?

In my opinion Nitrogen Sports has the best lines in the industry (they seem to mirror Pinnacle)... what sports do other sites have the edge on them?

Yeah, from my experience, Nitrogen payouts are fantastic, especially after transfering over from DirectBet (where the lines were less than satisfactory).

In response to OP, outside of sports betting on Nitrogen, I've been playing a bit of SWC as of late. May give ACR a shot and make a deposit in the near future as well.
1228  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Where can you advertise Adult Themed websites ? on: October 05, 2015, 01:05:28 AM
The two most important places to advertise would be in the service announcements section on here, along with /r/bitcoin. Pretty much any new servers that creates a self post announcement on there gets boosted to the front page, which means you can expect a few thousand views to kickstart your service. Smiley

1230  Economy / Goods / Re: How I Stop Worrying And Love The Backpacks [2/20] on: October 04, 2015, 06:11:12 PM
If anyone decides to purchase from the seller, please share feedback Smiley

I might be interested in purchasing a backpack, but don't want to go through the hassle of buying through a first time newbie seller with no history.
1231  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Post bitcoin address of scammers here on: October 04, 2015, 05:56:24 PM
This is a great idea, and a great service you are running!

I have found a lot of scammers this way.

Keep up the good work Wink
I also agree with the OP.

I was saved from a scammer once, simply by searching his wallet address (which led to a scam accusation thread).

It never would have happened if everyone took the attitude of not posting scammers wallets.

Aren't QS and BPB the same person? Lol why post twice?

And OP, these are sarcastic comments. Like Vod said before, it is incredibly easy to change your address frequently while running a scam, to the point where one would be a fool not to recycle their addresses while operating in blackhat means.
1232  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: [HIGH-RISK] Interesting Deposit Game on: October 04, 2015, 05:50:59 PM
This is the wrong section for your "game". This type of game belongs in the investment section, and even there, you will need to put in much more effort to get anyone to deposit to you. Look at the other investment type games in that section, they all have professional sites and history of payments. Nobody will be dumb enough to send you any BTC.
1233  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How long did it take you to earn your first Bitcoin? on: October 04, 2015, 05:48:35 PM
giveaway i like that, never try to use faucet, any body know what is the best faucet here ?

It is really hard to earn 1BTC from giveaways neither from faucets, only if you were using them in the beginning of bitcoin (few years before).

About the best faucets and a list of them i would suggest to check my avatar link and you can calculate yourself if it worth for you needs, good luck.

Yes, from faucets it's impossible to get 1BTC in a year too. We may achieve 1BTC milestone in a period of 10 years. I do not have 1BTC yet. I believe from gambling I can make 1BTC in short time.

If we were in the beginning of bitcoin in its early stage,
Then we could easily earn 1BTC from faucets, as the reward in these faucets was very high.

i think 3-4 hours after making my wallet (and learning about bitcoin)
from bitvisitor Smiley

Bitvisitor pays just to less, from what period of time are you talking about, because now they pay just few satoshi per visit.

I think it's safe to assume that earning 1 BTC from Bitvisitor is an achievement that must of taken place in the very early stages of Bitcoin.  For anyone who has used Bitvisitor within the past few years, earning 1 BTC in any amount of time is practically impossible.
1234  Other / Archival / Re: Pictures of your mining rigs! on: October 04, 2015, 05:44:33 PM
@philipma1957 can you sleep in the same room with you mining rig?
Aren't those noisy to sleep in front of them, btw i like your rigs.
@valkir well it can be for fun, but i like when it is also for profit Smiley

I was thinking the same thing. Mining rigs generate a lot of energy, I can't imagine being able to sleep with the massive noise/heat just feet away from my head. Lol if I was a miner and that were my set up I wouldn't even want to ROI, it wouldn't be worth the lack of sleep imo.
1235  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you agree people barrow money for gambling? on: October 04, 2015, 05:42:37 PM
i think its ok if people tell them where they will use their money for example use it on betting in this case i think its nothing wrong then

You think it's okay? If an individual debts himself in order to gamble, he is more than likely going to double his problem. Taking out loans to gamble is a serious sign of an addiction. Nobody should gamble what they can't afford to lose, and if you take out a loan, you cannot afford to lose that money.
1236  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is it worth mining? on: October 04, 2015, 05:40:06 PM
Even if you have free electricity ROI is hard to reach if you spend money for miners

In 4 years with free electricity, one still may not make their money back? I'm personally not a miner, and I understand it's too late in the game for the general population to get involved... but that sounds ridiculous. With free electricity, OP still shouldn't expect to turn a profit?
1237  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] 1BTC/238USD Per 10 Refered Registered Users on: October 04, 2015, 05:37:26 PM
Site running on the subdomain without an SSL certificate and none of the links work this site can not be trusted.

Yuuuuup. The site reeks of scam from a mile away. Don't even touch this site with a 20 ft pole.
1238  Other / Meta / Re: How can I recover a purchased account that I have lost access to? on: October 04, 2015, 09:10:50 AM
If you don't have the email address I doubt they'll let you change the password (and therefore obtain access) based just on your word.

So you sold it to a friend and they sold it to someone else? Sounds like it isn't yours anymore anyway! If it's still in possession of your friend, why not ask them?

Badbear and Theymos are known for recovering hacked accounts, I haven't heard of anything regarding bought account. You can try your luck and sign a message from your own address, requesting for recovery of the account together with the signed message from that account proving the ownership transfer.

The OP never said the account was hacked!

I did not sell the account, rather I allowed him to use it while under my cobtrol.

Anyways, thanks for the input everyone. I'll contact an administrator about recovery, and if that doesn't work, I'll pm the current user of the account requesting a payment for the account. If they decline, I'll just leak the account name as being traded around and switching ownership and it will lose its value.
1239  Other / Meta / How can I recover a purchased account that I have lost access to? on: October 03, 2015, 03:40:57 AM
Hello everyone, I purchased a forum account several months back. I was going to let my friend use it to earn some BTC, but he lost interest pretty quickly. I hadn't touched the account in over a month, and to my surprise, I just saw it post on the forums. I have a signed message from an address associated with the account, that verifies the transfer of ownership over to me. How can I recover ownership?
1240  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitoin Online Poker Players Are Better- Is It True? on: October 03, 2015, 03:10:37 AM
How do you think it is better? No doubt that pokerstars, fulltilt and bodog have best players, because they are biggest site in the world, maybe there are many good players in betcoin, but only a few fiat pros play there, so I think bitcoin poker players are weaker than fiat players, i mean average ability.

To reiterate, I am not implying that the best players in the world choose Bitcoin, because that's obviously not the case. The idea, rather, is that while playing in stakes that the majority of users play under, the competition is much tougher on Bitcoin sites than mainstream online poker sites. Sorry if I was being vague Smiley
