1801  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: what is the size of a bitcoin wallet ? on: July 20, 2015, 03:56:17 PM
just wonding about the bitcoin wallet size file , thank you  Smiley

Make sure, You're asking about the size of bitcoin WALLET or size of whole BLOCKCHIN? bitcoin wallet(BTC core) is of ~11MB. Blockchain is of ~40GB, i think.

~Rude Boy

im asking about wallet.dat file , thank you.
Yeah just as Amph has said it is really tiny 100kb up to a couple megs if you're really active, may I ask why you are wondering?

Im just trying to learn sir , also please tell me what info can i see if i used Notpad++ to open the wallet , thank you Smiley

I don't think anything...  but I could b wrong.

I just think of the wallet.dat file as encrpyted private keys.
1802  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: If mining BTC isn't profitable like people say -- how are OTHER people doing it? on: July 20, 2015, 03:47:58 PM
As it has been suggested it is a great heater in the winter, ESPCIALLY the S1 that guy pours out heat.

I mine slightly negative but I like to decentrlized mining and support  the security of the chain.. hey every giga hash counts!

U3, you can grab one for like $60 off kijiji, power draw is negligible mind you so is the profits but you are mining and adding more security to the network.

isn't better to support the network with a full node? at least you won't go in negative, well if you are rich, i don't think you care about a small loss  Grin

I am running a full node as well Smiley.  I dunno about "rich" but I do okay.
1803  Economy / Exchanges / Re: btce down.. on: July 20, 2015, 03:27:39 PM
I hope MT gox taught people a lesson about storing all your BTC with someone else...
1804  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin goes to 1200-1300 within a month. on: July 20, 2015, 03:12:42 PM
I will throw my fiat into BTC until SHA-256 is cracked.

Started buyin at $1200...... I am the bag holder king.

I like wild predictions Smiley.  This guy has been full bear mode until like a month ago... soo..

oh man you are in over your head ... but I won't tell you to stop ...

So continue to do you! mr "I bought at 1200 USD!"

Addition: I think that buying at 1200 makes you the bag holder king of losses but that's relative!

I am proud of you for sticking to your goals and dreams and Hodling!

You begin to be offensive hihi

Any opinions on this "golden cross" situation?

Golden crosses.. green dragons.. all sorts of crazy chart patterns as of late.

Isn't bag holder king and bag holder king of losses really the same thing ? lol.

It's all "play" money, my super high risk money, it can go bye bye, it would suck but it wouldn't matter.
1806  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Controversial Backpage.com Warmly Welcomes Bitcoin on: July 20, 2015, 02:57:13 PM
I am not really interested in the services offered by that site, but we shouldn't be shy about having drug dealers and escorts using bitcoin because it shows the value of the currency if they are willing to go out of their way to learn to use it.

I would go so far as to say that if the Euro or USD couldn't buy things on the grey and blackmarket I would be tempted to start calling those units of value coupon credits or gift cards rather than true currency. A currency needs to be fungible and allow the end user the ability to make decisions and contract as they wish.

There is more than just escourts!!

I am going to start using it to buy more stuff from as they now accept BTC.

I put an add up too!! Just to teach ppl how to use btc though.
1807  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Whats is the fastest way to open a wallet.dat ?? - Noobie Question :/ on: July 20, 2015, 02:54:06 PM
If a hacker found a "wallet.dat" on a victim's PC, would he ask a question like that if he was rather unexperienced with bitcoins?

can an hackers be an experience with bitcoin? or anything related IT in general? i don't think so

this is more of a legit question or a spamming one to increase post count for selling account later

OP can simply use a light client to do what he want to do

actually i want to ask something interesting, there is a way to extract private keys from a wallet.dat or any other format, without running a client(any client)?

light client  ? please explaine more .

It doesn't store the blockchain on your computer.

Bitcoin-qt downloads the blockchain to your computer and you become a node thus increasing the strength of BTC.

If he doesn't have the passphrase he ain't getting shit.

If you lose your passphrase you are super screwed, legit they are gone forever if your passphrase is over 10chars, bye bye coins.. I've lost 700 000 bits cause I'm dumb.

OP, youtube how to get your private key from a wallet.dat file, you don't need to download the blockchain to get it.  Your private key is just a string of characters 58 long.

Take this "key" go to import on blockchain.info, paste it there and boom.

OP any opinions on the price trend?
1811  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Whats is the fastest way to open a wallet.dat ?? - Noobie Question :/ on: July 20, 2015, 01:41:34 PM
You could open up a blockchain.info wallet and import the wallet.dat there, nice and quick.

Do you mean here sir :

https://blockchain.info/wallet/import-wallet

and do have to register first please answer thank you.

Why would you not want to sign up? Takes a minute. If you don't want to download the blockchain look at getting a lite weight client as they're instant.

yEP  but i get Connection Refused!!

Try electrium.

You are going to have to import your private key from the wallet.dat file if you have BTC on it though..
1812  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It truely begins on: July 20, 2015, 12:36:53 PM
Never heard about Backpage, but I hope it's awesome and it will help a lot.

Pretty much like kijiji, I posted an add offering to teach people how to use BTC since they are now accepting it, paid some crypto to get it highled because.. why not lol.
1813  Other / Off-topic / Re: DO YOU HAVE 1 BITCOIN? on: July 17, 2015, 06:30:24 PM
I had. Unfortunately I sold 2 of them.

I sent .7 to an address... then decided it would be a great idea to burn the passphrase and memorize it...........

I found the wallet like 5 months later and was like OH NEAT... oh crap.. 4 hours of trying.. zero luck... fak.
1814  Other / Off-topic / Re: DO YOU HAVE 1 BITCOIN? on: July 17, 2015, 06:08:43 PM
I'm also surprised so many senior and hero members do not hold 1+ btc. Back then (2011-12), it was pretty easy to earn several bitcoins for doing simple tasks...  for example, blockchain.info gave 15btc bounty for translating their blockchain.info wallet and you could do it in a day or two. There were many other similar opportunities.

A lot of Sr. members started after the dec bubble.

My friend told me about BTC when it was $70 the next time I heard about it it was $600.........
1815  Economy / Speculation / Re: Antibubble? Less expected scenarios for 2016 halving on: July 17, 2015, 05:33:31 PM
It is sometimes beneficial to look at the other side view for a moment.

Practically the entire bitcoin community suggests that we will have a glorious bubble on or around 2016 halving.
However, fully expected events in any market almost never come to fruition.
So, what unexpected scenario(s) could unfold?

a. An antibubble (hard down) caused by some unforeseen circumstances?
b. Mining demise, hence a decreased network ability to process transactions resulting in bitcoin "crisis"?
c. Developers focus on other crypto, hence bitcoin becoming "boring" and fizzling away?

Yet, I cannot foresee any of these possibilities actually happening, so maybe instead of anti-bubble we would just have a boring flat market all the way?

I don't think you fully understand bitcoin yet my friend, B is not a possible situation. I'll support all the transactions my self if every other bitcoin miner leaves the network.. you'll have to trust I don't double spend with 100% of the hashing power though.

However the odds of that.. are lower than me winning the lottery 10 times in a row.
1816  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Texas to circumvent fed with new gold depository, will accept Bitcoin on: July 17, 2015, 05:21:30 PM
The U.S. government needs to tread lightly with Texas. Texas is the only state that has it written right into their enabling act that they can legally secede and become a separate country.

Now, we wouldn't want to lose Texas. They are big enough to hold the entire population of the U.s.  And that's just about what would happen if they seceded. Most of the country would move there.

Smiley

Would be the first free nation in over 100 years... oh ya that would be some immigration.
1817  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Google spying, invading your privacy on: July 17, 2015, 02:27:17 PM
There is no such thing as privacy here now in the information age - it is a ghost of what once was, a dead thing walking.

Let it go, and rejoice fellow slaves, for your masters are losing their privacy too, and the next thing the will lose is the billions they horde for themselves.

I like this point of view!
1818  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Google spying, invading your privacy on: July 17, 2015, 01:41:55 PM
Watch out for google and their cohorts, their websites and products spy on you, invade your privacy, and sell off your info.
Proof or gtfo

You have to be dumber than a bag of rocks if you don't think this is true.

Google translate "good ,

Several days ago, my first attempt bitcoin transaction , probe with a low amount , with Core Bitcoin , but after several days , and although my transaction is visible in blockchain.info not received any confirmation .

Thank you very much in advance

"

Do you mind posting the address you sent it too?  There is a spam attack right now massively slowing down small fee transactions

Google translate " ¿Te importa publicar la dirección que usted envió también? "

Hay un ataque de spam ahora desaceleración masivamente por pequeñas transacciones de honorarios
