BitsharesX is going nuts by the way, almost over 100 mil marketcap at the moment.. http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitshares-x/

Strange thing is that they are only traded at chinese exchanges (Poloniex was added few days ago I think).
3562  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: August 25, 2014, 04:09:00 PM

Volumewise monero has been in the top 10 almost every single day.. I see this as a good sign.

I see +23% in about 72 hours as a pretty good sign, too!

That's is very nice indeed, but I meant, with most altcoins (except dogecoin), you only see high volume on pump days and dump days. Monero seems to maintain its volume even though it's moving sideways.
3563  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: August 25, 2014, 02:06:30 PM
Some of the working strategies include:

- market making (holding both multiple buy and sell orders spaced around the current price) to capture volatility
- buy ladder (having multiple buy orders somewhat apart from each other and periodically delete the lowest and put a new one on top of the highest one)
- in a downtrend, put a small bid in front of every large existing bid, waiting for a dump
- in an uptrend, try to keep your very small order on top of the bids
- in an uptrend, market buy, especially if there is a sell wall nearby so that you can secure a large amount

Thanks. That is very interesting.
I would understand if you don't want to answer this next question - But, have you seen the above transpire? (Might take more than an eye, perhaps some analysis tools of course.)
From my simplistic perspective, it certainly looks like there is a party that is accumulating but I wonder if others have been paying attention to what you posted, and more???
The volume alone is screaming out.

Around 6.5k support @ 0.004, lets see if this holds!
3565  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: August 25, 2014, 09:41:47 AM
If the community started a fund, would it be possible to hire temporary developers to expedite development of the GUI?

We don't lack the resources (as in highly skilled developers), we lack funds to allow them and us to spend more time on this.

How much is needed for this? Maybe if this was made public it would speed up the donations.
3566  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: August 24, 2014, 05:42:33 PM
Some one is pumping monero! 3200 buy with a 10k support at 0.00377. Let's see how this plays out.

Thats not the definition of "pumping"; its simply buying.

Edited my post, was a bit too enthusiastic  Cheesy Anyway, I hope we can break through that tough resistance at 0.004 area.

Ultros, can you add the irc channels #monero  •  #monero-dev  •  #monero-otc to your post also? This is helpfull for people who have a problem and want to chat about it.

On topic: As I stated before, there is clearly great resistance @ 0.004, if we break that I think we will reach 0.0055-0.006 again. Support is @ 0.0033-0.0034 area. There is a probability that we move sideways for some time before breaking through 0.004.

Could it be possible to reopen the XMR speculation thread or make a new one? I really miss the forecasts there. (I could do it myself you may say but I rather let some known member of this forum, with a good trust level, moderate it).

I'm curious why it was closed.

I believe it was due to some critical level of trolling. The thread wasn't self-moderated.

Ah okay. If we decide on a clear charter to be enforced I will be happy to open a moderated one.

Also would be happy if you open a self-moderated new one.

Nice overview! You can also buy monero on hitbtc.com by the way. We should get monero added to btc38, one of the biggest chinese exchanges which trades altcoins.
3573  Local / Alt Coins (Nederlands) / Re: Waarde dogecoin zakt steeds. Reden? on: August 22, 2014, 05:04:43 PM
Ziet hier iemand iets in?

Since the speculation thread is closed, can we discuss some of it here?

Oh no. Perhaps you can, but only quality comments please. Smiley

Haha oke! It was not my intention to troll here :p But on topic: strong resistance @ 0.004 zone, need to break that first. I think we will see some panic buying if we break that zone.

EDIT: Aminorex also said that 0.004 was a potential buy zone, because if it would reach there the cup and handle formation would be complete

rpietila, do you have any charts for total volume across all exchanges?
A bearish sign I just noticed yesterday, while switching tabs on bitcoinity and checking volume across several exchanges is that the volume is terrible compared to last year.
On some exchanges we are even lower than pre-november bubble.
This might be because volume is more spread out across all exchanges and this is what I would like to know if that's the case.

I am not rpietila, but here's a list of 82 exchanges and their volume, you can also see the share of the total volume. So it's very easy to calculate what the total volume was. http://www.coinometrics.com/exchanges?display=%25%20Share&vol=Area&volume=Volume%20(BTC)&stack=Unstacked

This excludes zero-fee exchanges like okcoin and huobi. But it includes the most known exchanges.

What happened to the bitcoins at mtgox? Did anybody get anything back?

Is there a thread somewhere on the site people are discussing it?

Investigation is still going on. More info can be found here: http://www.reddit.com/r/mtgoxinsolvency/
3578  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Monero (XMR) Speculation thread on: August 22, 2014, 12:46:35 PM
Also, the trolls are so stupid and their arguments so weak that they are in fact helping our cause, I think.

Unfortunately, the sane people typically don't want to read stuff with a low signal-to-noise ratio, so this is the reason the trolls should be deleted. It hinders adoption.

Well to be honest I read your threads and the main Monero thread way more than this one, I wouldn't mind if a moderator closed it.

Smiley

In addition, I think we really need a good official forum and move some of the heavier technical talk into our own community.

It would be good for monero to make something like this, monerotalk for example! Litecoin has this also and I think it would be helpfull for adoption.
3579  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Monero (XMR) Speculation thread on: August 22, 2014, 11:27:15 AM

BLABLABLA

Are you gonna post this in every topic which is relevant to XMR? Please, this is just sad..
