Rep had nothing to do with it, people being idiots and greedy had everything to do with it.
I hear a lot on this thread about being greedy, but there's a big difference between greed and desperation, between stupidity and hope. I recently got into a situation where my ability to gain $30,000 (on top of my normal salary) over the next couple of months will in many ways dictate the future of my family. I can see why people who are in situations like that and who have slim prospects for making the cash they need, put their trust in Paycoin. It's not because they thought it would work, but because they had a need, and Paycoin was their last, best long-shot hope. I feel for people who have been taken by Garza because I don't think that most of them are greedy. I think they were in need and were out of options.

"Additionally, the company CEO fled the United States for the United Arab Emirates (UAE), leaving no employees in the company to address consumer requests, until being returned to the United States, less than two months later, by the U.S. government, due to violations of financial responsibility laws in the UAE, which would have required imprisonment." That's new. What's the source for the information in the charge-back request?

I think we should all quote the post where we predicted exactly what just happened with btc.com. Mine: 2018 is way out of Garza's time horizon. He's the guy who scrapped the original Paycoin idea for a crappy clone because he wanted it out in two weeks.
BOLD PREDICTION
The lease involved some sort of deposit. Garza will immediately cease paying for the domain and attempt to string along the seller for as long as possible. During this time, Garza still collects rent. At some point, the domain reverts back to its previous owner, and bitcoinist is out that month's rent and the original deposit.

I think the most probable answer is that whoever controls Zencloud is dumping stake. There's a big difference between the stake rate of hashstakers and the stake rate of a prime controller. Those transfers out could easily be stake going to a set of wallets, then either being withdrawn by hashstaker owners or dumped on an exchange. It's a mix, which is why it looks like a jumble.
That's also why the numbers wouldn't add up. Only some of the transfers are to ordinary users. Whoever controls the Zencloud wallet ('mk', I guess, though I haven't checked the sig) could easily be both dumping and filling user accounts. There's enough stake for both.

Every epic story has that one moment when things pull into focus, when you find out the essential nature of the protagonist. It's when you learn who Dick Whitman is, when Walter White has a harmless man murdered, or when Tony Soprano strangles a guy on his kid's college tour.
That email leak was the big reveal. That's when we found out that everything was the worst that anyone thought possible, and it had been for a very long time, before hashlets, even. People thought Josh was a scammer, but there was still that sense that he was in over his head, that he had just made too many big promises. Then the emails are leaked, and we find out how viscious, manipulative, exploitative, and dishonest he's been since almost the very beginning.
The guy's as close to a pure villain as really exists in the world. He lies without remorse and uses every manipulative tool to extract as much as he can from everyone around him. He's a tremendous character.

I think how he responds to pointed questions depends on Garza's mood. Why are you always going on and on about the past?
I trusted the wrong people. I've made mistakes, and I'll never do anything like that again.
Want to tell me to my face?
Hey, I'm the victim here. I've lost more than all of you combined.
Let's focus on building a future for Paycoin, the People's Coin.
I don't see how comments like these help the success of Paycoin.
Why do you care about that when someone stole 15 prime controllers from me?
That's just creepy. Out of moral principle I won't answer that question.
How many times can I say this...

So, BTC.com is a news portal? Seriously? And Garza think there is one journalist left in the cryptocurrency space who will touch his shit with a 10 foot pole?
i asked about it on twitter and was told "the domain was acquired from GAWMiners in a private, long term lease agreement until 2018.03.11. the licensee is Bitcoinist LTD." 2018 is way out of Garza's time horizon. The articles in the "Learning Center" of btc.com sound like Josh Garza himself wrote them. English of a 12 year old.
Cringe worthy, to be sure. Upside is that this won't last long--once the long hand of the law finally catches up with Garza, he'll likely stop making "payments" on this domain. I'm pretty sure he stopped payments already and offloaded the domain to Bitcoinist, perhaps in an attempt to recover a fraction of his "investment". The alternative would have been to forfeit it all and have it revert to the previous owner. Does Bitcoinist have the cash to pay the mortgage on that domain? Wasn't it a trillion billion dollars? Well, it's already been like 8 or nine months since the purchase, so it could be sharply discounted. Garza bought it for a million, and the payments are $25,000. If we assume the payments are monthly, like 20% of the cost has already been paid (plus any down payment, if there was any). So, yeah, the numbers still don't add up. I can't imagine bitcoinist gets more than $5k or so a month in revenue. They could do some kind of financing thing where they use btc.com as collateral for a loan and spread the payments out over a longer period of time, but it's hard to make up the gap between $5k and $25k. In theory, Garza should be able to cash in GAW's "equity" in btc.com, thus embezzling more money from the company, but he over paid for the company, so the equity probably isn't in the $200k range, and it's hard to see how bitcoinist has the cash flow to take over the payments. IDK what's up.
