I'd love to see some acknowledgment that the Vaultbreakers were a scam from the start.
I bet that info will be somewhere in the 5gb haystack. Good luck finding it. I'm pretty sure the best we'll get is what suchmoon said. There are no communications with manufacturers or shippers or anything that show up when I grep the file for "Vaultbreaker". Now, they did call them "vb", so I could just be missing all of the manufacturing updates, but I doubt it. It looks like Vaultbreakers were just a way to introduce Prime Hashlets. If only there was an ex-employee with a conscience who could clear this up...

NOTICE THE DATE on that file... since he's located in TX, but using a UT (or NV?) address, we'll be generous and say that was prepared NOVEMBER 10, 2014.... so, he was always going to run with the funds. He didn't just blunder into a lot of screwed up stuff and a pack of bad developers....
Oh, yeah, after they started with the virtual (I SAID IT AGAIN) miners, it wasn't long before it became clear where this was going. Finding explicit statements in the emails is tough, though. I think he kept most of the planning in meetings.

How do you know mordica said he was expensive? I ask because the strategy for shuffling funds off shore w/out taxes was to use a non-profit front and it's kind of interesting that mordica suddenly is running a non-profit.
Well, that was a literal quote from Mordica, included because he misspelled "too", and that makes me giggle. Then there's this: Not a problem bro. We're here in case you need anything. Hope to see you all in a few weeks in Mia.

So I don't know for sure that they, individually or collectively, didn't eventually use him for things.

The mechanics of offshoring their assets eludes me. It looks like they were going to use some strategy involving Buttercoin, then Buttercoin dropped their account because they're not rachet, so IDK. The only other institution I've found mentioned is Express Coin, so maybe they ended up using them to sell their BTC and deposit funds in an account in some other country.
Edit: Buckeye2015 answered the offshore logistics question in rather grandiose fashion. Kudos.

Since apparently every conversation ever had is public knowledge . . .
I know, right? What I'm most interested in is the how something like this develops. They started by dropshipping miners. Then they moved to hosting. Then at some point they said fuck it and stopped having actual hardware backing up their hosted miners. That last one is the big leap. Who on earth would think it's a good idea to make "virtual" (yes, I wrote the forbidden word) miners instead of doing what they actually claim to be doing? I just don't get that jump. Up until that point, they seem pretty legit. Then, things just snowball, and the Paycoin fraud is almost a natural progression. It's that first jump that confuses me, and that conversation doesn't appear to be in any email. Why would a seemingly legit company suddenly decide to lie to its consumers and sell something completely different than what the consumer actually gets? And it's not just one guy. It's like four guys (well, three to five guys) at the same time decided to make that leap. Maybe I'm misreading stuff, but that's how it seems to have played out. Fortunately, one of those guys is penitent, so once it's legally viable, we may actually get a description of how all of it went down.

Good reviews take a period of time, but you can't just spit out your thoughts in 5 minutes. You have to actually review the product and take notes along the way.

These items and new models needed to be added in order to add the fields so we are doing the correct calculations. These are all of the key points we discussed this morning that had to be done in order to make this spit out the right numbers.
