Windows 8.1 might not be playing well with libdb. What I can suggest at this point, is stopping Neos by clicking "Stop Neos" in the launcher, then going into the location you've installed Neos in, and then neos-data, and removing "blocks" and "chainstate" and then clicking "Start Neos".
Removing blocks and chainstate made things worse. Now just a blank web page appears and not even initializing. Yes, I stopped it first and restarted. Tried stopping and starting it again and the same thing, just a blank web page now. Click start again, then refresh. Did that several times already. Just keeps showing a blank page. |

Are you running the latest 2.0.2 or 2.0.1? Did you have a Neos wallet installed before? If you'd be alright with it, I'd love to teamviewer in and just verify you're all squared away. The new system starts with a launcher and this sounds like you're using the previous version which used system services.

Sorry, teamviewer is not an option. I am using the new version, 2.0.2. Had a similar issue with 2.0.1. The command windows appears for a brief moment and closes but the launcher never appears. Only if I reinstall it over the current installation will the launcher work. Then after reboot it fails to run again. No problem at all. The fact a command window appears at all indicates to me this might be the old installer. Did you download from www.neoscoin.com/windows? What I would recommend doing is click start, then type in cmd. Once you see "command prompt", right-click and select "run as administrator". Once the prompt is open, type the following (may or may not be running so ignore any "not running" messages - this is just to be sure about it): sc stop neosd sc stop neosui sc delete neosd sc delete neosui Then click the start button, then programs, then Neos, and then Neos again (it has the Neos icon). Something else that could be happening is you're choosing one of the old shortcuts from the previous version of Neos "Neos-Restart" "Neos-Shutdown", etc. There is only one program needed to start/stop/control Neos now and it's named just "Neos". When it loads it'll say "Neos Launcher". The fact you've said clicking start shows a command prompt really quickly but no launcher tells me that it's likely one of those old batch scripts that were being used in the earlier release. I was clicking Neos-start instead of just NEOS. I will remove the shortcuts and any programs they point to. Clicking NEOS runs the launcher but after Starting NEOS and then Open Your Wallet it just keeps saying initializing, waiting and reloading the initialization page. The wallet does not ever appear in the browser. I think a stand alone wallet that does not run in the browser would be better. |

good to hear  Took them 48 hours after a rental ended to pay me. The entire time all the hashing was rejected. I tried to contact the renter three times but they never responded. Seems like they really f...d up the site after buying it. |

I like the concept of your coin and it's wallet and wanted to get involved. I downloaded the wallet and purchased some coins to hold on the exchanges. After I sent the coins to my wallet I started having problems running the wallet. I am running windows 8.2 and after I run the wallet for a while it stops responding, just giving me the "Initialization" message. I then reinstalled the wallet and imported the wallet.dat and was able to recover my wallet after re-downloading the entire block chain. Low and behold, after running the wallet for short time the problem returned. I am glad I had sent my coins back to an exchange wallet for now until I can figure out thee problems.
The concept of a web wallet it good, but a simple, standard wallet should be available for those of us that wish to use an old style wallet or have problems with our configuration for one reason or another. Currently, I cannot involve myself with a coin that gives me so much frustration with the wallet. A simple wallet would solve this for me and others, I imagine.

Are all of the steps that were taken listed here already? I haven't had other reports of this on 8.2 yet but that could just be due to there not being many 8.2 wallets in use. As far as recovering your wallet only after re-downloading the blockchain, that wouldn't solve the wallet issue or it showing up unless the chain data was corrupt and that might be due to the bootstrap it fetches during the first run. I'll be looking into the bootstrap and trying to reproduce this and my apologies for any inconvenience. I'll keep this post updated as well as twitter/our forum with any findings. The only way to recover was for me to delete the program directory and reinstall NEOS wallet again and re-download the block chain again for the 3rd time. I am currently downloading the block chain so I wont know if it is all kosher until then, but I suspect it will be. As I suspect it could be the bootstrap which is fetched during an initial install, I'm looking into that now and I'll determine if it's the culprit. Thanks. Appreciate your support.  I have someone installing on 8 right now fresh to attempt to break it. I have a few sneaking suspicions I'm going to validate or invalidate by the end of the night. I'll keep you updated and thanks for your patience. I have a similar issue in Windows 8.1 Pro. Every time I reboot the Neos wallet will not run. I've earned 0.00071229 in 30 minutes. On slush I get approx. 0.008 per block. At this rate it will take approx. 5.5 hours to earn 0.008btc However. By entering the last 10 block durations at http://www.csgnetwork.com/timescalc.html it gives an average duration of 5 hours 24 minutes. 10 previous was average 5 hours 16 minutes. So, no real difference there. Might go looking at some other pools to compare. Unless some pool gets super lucky BAN pays the best because it is PPS with no fees and 1% bonus. |
