Can someone explain the homero thing? I have read a lot of this thread but at 750+ pages I may have missed some of it. Why are people referring to Josh as homero?
Because"Homero" is his real given first name by his parents. Joshua is his middle name. So he is really Homero Garza.

I just got an S3. Could someone kindly tell me what the best firmware is at the moment?
The best is whatever is already on it if it works. No reason to flash just to flash. Oct. 25th works great but no reset button functionality.

He said he had a firmware from december when he received it, but after having trouble with it he downgraded to a firmware from July. WTF?!? I thought that S3+ support started in firmware from August? I am afraid this might be the problem.... Is there a chance to resurrect it?
I think you can fix it via the serial header on the controller board but it is not an easy task. I have never done it so I would suggest Googling for the info.

It is a Corsair CX750M which I am also using for other S3+, it should have enough power.
That PSU should work. Maybe the seller had a failed firmware update?

I have a problem with my Antminer S3+ hoping that someone has an idea: The miner can not be accessed, neither via WebIF nore via Ping. I bought just bought it used and did not access it yet. I already tried to reset it, but after powering it only the (upper) red led is blinking regularly. When trying to reset it pushing the button does not change anything at all, the red light keeps blinking in the same intervall all time. Fans are not running. What can I do? Does anyone have an idea? Kind regards
That can be caused by not enough power. What psu are you using and how many watts on the 12 volt rail?

Do the math. Sale outlet suffers the same trick to reveal max quantities that KNC had before: 2 TH/s - AntMiner S4 @ 806 max units 453+ GH/s - AntMiner S3 @ 811 max units Bitmain was here last week or the week before offering a package of used machines close to this total hash power, can't find it write now: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=904554.0 149. Of course same day delivery can mean ex-China as well. Seems Homero is desparate for cold hard cash, juggling CC's and peddling used hardware for 20 dollar commissions. This is around 2 PH/s total. They have also been selling the S4 on oneminer.com for about 2 months now. Looks like the 5 PH/s purchase paid for with our hashlet money is being sold back to us. Nice work. We can't have it both ways. Are they selling the 5ph or did they only rent it from Bitmain which has been looking to get rid of the US-based warehouse full of miners since December? Which is it? I say they are selling the just what we saw in the so-called proof of mining video.

Any coin that is premined is a scam, period. And a premine of over 96% is a huge scam!

Oh ok. There is an ebay sale for the same thing at the same price but no psu included and high shipping. And in the same general area as GAW also.

$169 for an S3 with PSU is a pretty good deal, but if you are thinking about more than 1 it would make much better sense to get an S5. I have an S5 on the way to replace two S1s and in the next couple months will likely replace my S3s as well.
Where does it say a PSU is included? If you are referring to ebay sale it is $169 for s3+ only. Does not mention any psu being included. And it is $43 shipping.

I purchased an ID-Cooling No. 14025 140mm fan to replace my S3 fans. While they match the screw positions for the S3 and mount fine the connector that attached to the S3 control board has a plastic tab on it, that prevents the connector from sliding onto the control board connector without damaging it. Do I need to modify the connector to make it fit or do something else? Any help would be appreciated. Photo of connectors attached. http://s24.postimg.org/5bqombaxx/42159.jpgThanks. People usually just shave off the tab (I have). Just make sure to plug it in the correct orientation/polarity. That is what I suspected I would have to do. Just wanted some confirmation. Thanks. No problem. But a 14025 (140mm) fan? Are you able to actually fit 140mm fans onto the S3's 120mm fan screw holes? I'm aware that Bitmain's site states on its S3 spec page, "Two 14038 fans mounted on both front and back ends". I thought that's just a typo because the S3 fans don't look like 140mm fans to me and certainly didn't measure 140mm; it's 120mm x 38mm and therefore 12038 fans. I've also seen posts on other threads referring to it as 14038 fans and again, I dismissed it as a typo or a perpetuation of a typo initiated by Bitmain's S3 specs. Am I experiencing a Twilight Zone moment here? They are 140mm fans with mounting holes in the 120mm position. They block the ethernet port on the front but are fine on the back.

Ordered a S5, paid it, batch 4 which should be sent out on January 12. Price paid: 401 USD. Now advertised on the Bitmain-site: S5, batch 4, should be sent out 12/1: 358 USD. So basically, by paying early, I get ripped off by Bitmaintech of 43 US$?
Nice move. Really nice move.
In case you haven't noticed, stores (of all kinds, everywhere) change the price of their products constantly. Why should Bitmain be any different? When did they make any price guarantees? And then gave a coupon for the difference anyway! Right. Which means that I would have to buy another miner for getting a similar price like the clients who ordered and paid for the same batch later than I did and probably will receive their miner first. That's what you're saying? Send a PM to BITMAIN_Janet and request she refund the difference to you in BTC rather than the coupon. She has been able to help myself and others with similar issues.

The so-called "luck" is only a measure of past success and always averages out. Next week this thing you call luck will be 20% and you will be wondering where your luck went and who jinxed the pool, etc.
