if i may refocus the thread here - what would be the best programming language to learn first, something that would apply well to osx and bitcoin ideally?

1563  Economy / Lending / Re: 10btc loan will payback 10.8btc sept 14 please on: September 07, 2012, 02:50:42 PM
Thunderbit - I can make this loan to you. Please PM me.

Dude, WTF? Stop the socks. You'll probably be IP banned now.

Hey - I'm based in the UK - I don't know what 'Stop the socks' means. Is it a quaint american expression?

Now - can you explain to me *exactly* what am I doing wrong? Check my rating - I've got two more positives today.

Am I breaking any law (written or unwritten) or BTC etiquette by lending to Thunderbit? I've loaned to him before and he has paid back, I'm 'cool' with that. So whats your 'beef'? (I understand that is an American expression used to indicate extreme discontent).

he thinks you're a "sock puppet" account.  i've got your back tenakha

Sorry SB, sure don't.  But I will tell you one thing.  When I see a name like saddambitcoin and your avatar combined, it gives me hope for the future.  We are no longer a dead people.
Why thank you.  Coming from a person of your stature I am most humbled.

Welcome "in" Ocean6!  And speaking of "in", why aren't more of you using cypionax (testosterone cypionate).  It will put the lead back in your pencil, and the spring back in your step- AND HERS!  Wait until you see how great it feels to be young again.

flaxceed - have you any nootropics?

"pop that private key" ?
1569  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: promoting bitcoin through rap/hip-hop music on: September 07, 2012, 05:56:34 AM
ok i like your idea here.  need some product placement.

brainstorming.
cascascius sells the broken 25 BTC physical piece that looks nice.  someone could make a few prototypes on a chain and seed to some rappers.  need a video that features them flashing the hologram...possibly being wasteful with 1 BTC coins making it rain, etc.

The core devs?
ok, but where do i find their addresses
1571  Economy / Lending / Re: need 0.62419344 BTC loan on: September 07, 2012, 05:33:11 AM
Why do I need it?  I'd like to see an even number of coins in my wallet when I have bitcoin client open.

If that's all there is to it, you could instead give away whatever fraction needed (0.37580656 or 1.37580656) to a Bitcoin project and accomplish the same thing with less fuss.

where can i find some worthy causes?
1572  Economy / Lending / Re: need 0.62419344 BTC loan on: September 07, 2012, 05:22:53 AM

1573  Economy / Lending / need 0.62419344 BTC loan on: September 07, 2012, 05:15:29 AM
Serious request.  Please PM me with your terms.

Why do I need it?  I'd like to see an even number of coins in my wallet when I have bitcoin client open.

I'll repay in 1 week.
1574  Economy / Lending / Re: 10btc loan on: September 07, 2012, 04:48:05 AM
sadpandatech has discovered the deep conspiracy of how i have a bunch of accounts and have been lending back and forth between myself..... so all of you people that gave me a loan.... you are really me...and i am really you.... we must stop this madness of me scamming loans... i apologize to all the people(who is really me)  that i borrowed from and paid back with interest in a timely manner..

sadpandatech is such a genius i cannot believe he figured out my elaborate scam....ahh well   looks like my scamming days are over....once again i apologize  and to all the people that lent to me feel free to post what an awful scammer i actually am.

i dont need a loan.... but just to piss him off i would like lets say.... a 10btc loan which i will payback so fast sadpandatech will have something to do with his life.... thanks in advance

just 10 btc?  someone lend this man 100 btc and see what magic he can work

1576  Other / Off-topic / Re: what OS to use? on: September 07, 2012, 01:37:01 AM
thanks for all the response.  you guys are much nicer than the Lending folks.

don't get me wrong i must say i'm happy with osx.  just the fact that i've never tried it made me think i could be missing out on some unknown advantage, by only living in my osx world 100%.

as far as security/encryption practices:  i use filevault, which i know only encrypts the home directory (i'm on 10.6.8 so i don't have the option for full disk encryption).  have been meaning to learn how to use TrueCrypt so I'll make that my next task.  i use a VPN always, Firefox, java disabled, noscript, ghostery.

i generated my paper wallet after booting into the ubuntu liveOS.  i plan on holding the majority of my bitcoins there, with only a small portion in my hot wallet.  i'm trying to come up with a really strong yet memorable passphrase to create a brainwallet with as well.
1577  Economy / Lending / Re: last loan ever(paid) on: September 07, 2012, 01:03:14 AM
Stay far far away from this one.  All three accounts have thrown huge red flags for me:

Thunderbit
saddambitcoin
tenakha
curiousone
Branzig

Unfortunately I can't say what those red flags are, otherwise they will adapt and become harder to detect.
However, it would be easy for one person to create a handful of users, lend between each other and instill a false sense of trust.  That's what I would do if I were trying to scam.

I quoted the only fuckin intelligent thing you said in that whole spiel.

Tomato was not suggesting those names were ALL connected.

But shady is fucking shady and a bunch of you guys fit the bill. Hiding behind the 'conspiracy nuts pick on newbies' wall isn't going to conceal the rotten smell coming off of some of the recent 'confidence' scams. Amd it does not take both parties having knowledge of anything the one is up to for it to be a scam.

I can tell you with *100%* certainty that Thunderbit is not/has nothing to do with
saddambitcoin
tenakha
curiousone
Branzig
He did not say who were associates to who. Yet, you seem to know and took an interest. i wonder why. Not the kind of a posts a legit newbie would usually come and bother with..

Ok, I misunderstood Tomato.  Apologies.

I guess I am not a "legit" newbie as I joined in March of this year, and only have actively started posting in the last week or so.  I guess that's shady too.  Only time will tell...

I took an interest to Tomato's list because I loaned the coin to Thunderbit in this thread.  I'm simply asserting that we had a successful transaction, both Thunderbit and myself were quite satisfied.

Haha.  I'm just a new bitcoin user.  I don't plan on seeking any loans here, as I do not, nor do I advise anyone to provide their personal information on a public forum.  Having spent some time perusing conspiracy related forums online, I don't expect anyone to be friendly to noobs anyway.

However, it would be easy for one person to create a handful of users, lend between each other and instill a false sense of trust.  That's what I would do if I were trying to scam.

If I were trying to detect scammers amongst us, a red flag would be that these loans were repaid quickly.  So to all you new users out there - and to all you SCAMMERS be advised to let the full term of the loan elapse as to not attract these scam spotter trolls.

I knew very well I could have lost the 25 bitcoin to Thunderbit but I read through his posts and felt he was trying to be honest but just not getting accepted by the established community here.
