just think back to september-december of last year, price seemed "boring" around $13...i am thankful for this stability so it gives me more time to put all of my fiat earnings in BTC/LTC before the next jump!

when you run the client for the first time, it needs to download the entire blockchain first (just like bitcoin-qt). the client should show the progress. you'll see the balance when you reach the block that has your LTC transaction.

it takes time to receive confirmations, please be patient. you could also try litecoin, confirmations take much less time. What does UNCONFIRMED TRASACTION! mean in blockchain.wallet I just tried to send XX bitcoin from my blockchain wallet and it just said UNCONFIRMED TRASACTION shows the money taken from account totals but it has gone no where??? What to do now? is it waiting to be processed or what?? this has never happened before!!! WTF help

i thought they were upgrading their servers yesterday but i would imagine this news is generating more traffic than they expected, or under attack?

you can use liteaddress.org (or whatever method you initially used to generate the brainwallet), enter your passphrase and get the private key.
if you use litecoin-qt, go to the debug window, then console and enter importprivkey <yourprivatekey>
to answer your question, the public key can be derived from private key, so you only need the private key to import your address.

I wish they would take bitcoin, I used to pay with visa gift cards but it doesn't always work. Now I just don't use netflix, so money they are missing out on.

I think multisig escrow would be a great asset to have for in person trades of cash->bitcoin.

Perhaps not a bank but a very secure data storage service is needed for the future...utilizing multi signature addresses to store funds.
Perhaps when more people learn about how bitcoin works they will be inspired to take more responsibility for their money.

If you can afford it, give someone a bitcoin and let them learn about it on their own. Best way to introduce, in my opinion.

More information. Where are you located? I'm guessing this wasn't a major, well-known currency exchange so there's a very good chance that you're screwed unless they operated under some kind of licence which had an insurance requirement (you'd still be screwed in the short term but might eventually get your money back in that case).
chicago. it was an independent neighborhood currency exchange, one of these: http://www.mycurrencyexchange.comgoing to try contacting that company tomorrow. thanks for the help

so, i bought a money order from a currency exchange with cash so i could pay rent with it. 1 month later...
landlord's bank sent back with NSF saying the currency exchange's account is frozen. i went back to the currency exchange to see what's up and it appears to be closed and out of business. i do have the receipt. is there any recourse i can take or am i just screwed?
