thanks for all the replies.

i realize now i made my first mistake selling all my bitcoins based on emotion.

dollar cost averaging seems the safest route now.

1244  Economy / Speculation / can i get some expert advice? on: August 30, 2013, 11:48:13 PM
i bought btc at $13-20 for the most part

it became more money than i had ever had so i panic dumped everything i had around $100 last month

i am trying to stay strong and wait for the next btc crash to buy back in, i do have some LTC but currently no BTC.

should i just gradually buy BTC and get back in the game or wait for the price to go down?

1 year ago it was difficult to buy bitcoins, i had to learn PGP and meet someone on the street for my first 10 coins using #bitcoin-otc...i wish i could go back and buy more

now it is really quite easy to buy bitcoins, i recommend coinbase

This looked like fun but I was too late.
1253  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are banks holding wires sent to Bitcoin Exchanges? on: July 20, 2013, 02:40:11 AM
Long term bitcoin is still a smart investment.  but if you're JUST NOW getting into buying, it is a bad time to start in my opinion.  I feel there is going to be another huge dump at the end of the month and the bottom will  stabilize in the $60-80 range for months

Do not ask me why, just go compare this year's bubble to 2011's and you'll see we are in a downtrend

He doesn't need any bitcoin donations, I say we pick a random homeless person and instead bombard them with hundreds or thousands of BTC and see what happens.

1260  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Metered connection - how much data? on: June 29, 2013, 04:34:25 AM
So bitcoin-qt takes part in the BTC network in some way when it's online?  I thought it was just a wallet.  Does electrum do this too?  Are there any BTC apps that are just a wallet?

bitcoin-qt is a wallet.  it also runs a full node, meaning it hosts an entire copy of the blockchain and relays transactions. this supports the network and all that.

electrum is a lightweight client meaning you do not have to download the entire blockchain.

if you just want to have a wallet go to bitaddress.org and print one out, send your BTC there and don't worry about your bandwidth usage.
