581  Economy / Economics / Re: #HODLing is not a smooth journey on: December 03, 2023, 10:35:35 PM
Certainly is not. I've been in this industry for years now and god damnit do I want to just sell all my holdings to save myself from further losses. But the greatest thing about holding is that, for the most part, staying true to your cause and just keeping on what you're in this industry for's the hardest part, and once you're past it, you're basically good and safe from there. I basically used this to my advantage and actually just detoxified myself from anything that would give me a single hint of what's going on in the market way back years ago. It even came to the point where I forgot about crypto. Eventually this all paid off cause my ignorance allowed me to not have a single urge to take out my holdings, and it all went nicely.
582  Economy / Economics / Re: Flash Mob Theft -> closure of brick and mortar stores -it's economic impact? on: December 03, 2023, 10:14:15 PM
This is partly due to the fact that people are misinformed about the new laws passed regarding theft and robbery. I heard that a few months ago shoplifting was basically reduced from a class-felony crime to something like a misdemeanor or whatever (the americans gotta correct me on this one). Anywho, the way the media and basically everyone who's in on the situation portrays this is that they'd get off easy after committing the crime, when the reality couldn't be any farther from the truth. I saw people getting mugged and even gunned down trying to run the fade on some boutiques and mom-and-pop stores.

I say the government should once again be held responsible for this. Proper campaigns must be administered to make sure that the people take your shit seriously.
583  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you see individual satoshi becoming valuable? on: December 02, 2023, 11:02:36 PM
Eventually yes, and especially as time passes by and as more and more bitcoins are mined apart from the halving. Satoshis are actually meant to prepare the whole network for such a time, cause they knew as early as decade ago that satoshis will become bitcoin’s end game basic token soon as the whole industry shoots up in value.

Anywho, the scalability conundrum proves to be a more vital topic to discuss rather than what sat’s role will be in the future, which already predetermined anyway in the first place.
584  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will you sell your bitcoin to blackrock? on: December 02, 2023, 10:32:42 PM
Everything for a price. At this point I stopped picking sides and which is which already. I might as well just do whatever I can in my power to make sure that the industry I am in is alive and kicking, and that of course, I’m making money in the process. Sometimes that involves inviting the “enemy” into your house and letting them kick. Their feet up comfortably.

I think people shouldn’t be so detested by the idea of a new player from the outside market involving themselves in bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. That’s part of our growth and development as a technology and economy and so we must embrace it wholly, and take the good with the bad sometimes.
585  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin at its ATH of 2023 so far on: December 02, 2023, 10:17:49 PM
Not this year we wouldn’t. Unless some angel sent from heaven up high grants our wish and immediately invests billions upon billions of dollars in bitcoin, which certainly wouldn’t happen now despite the desirable crypto climate.

There’s a good chance that the next bull run to be brought about by the upcoming halving could help us reach newer heights and endeavours, but you can’t expect bitcoin to just shoot up in value 3000% in the blink of an eye. There’s a lot of things at play here and the people’s opinions about bitcoin is just one of them.

Perhaps hold your excitements first, and be prepared for greater things to come by making sure you have a stake at bitcoin this early.
586  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Risking 1% in Gambling on: December 01, 2023, 11:47:07 PM
I don't particularly employ such strat as this keeps the fun out of gambling (I bet a lot of money in one go, it gives me a greater rush of excitement and nervousness compared to betting in small amounts), but I actually employ strategies that minimize the amount of money that I lose. And I keep saying this but I saw this in this forum as well, wherein they stop betting and gambling after 3 losses, and 3 wins. Either way, you're making sure that your wins are secured and they are not getting anywhere, meaning you have more money to keep for your self at the end of the day, or if in any case you're in a losing streak this day, your losses are minimized as much as possible. You might wanna look into trying this strat as well, it doesn't hurt anyway.
587  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can you make gambling a profession - a full time job on: December 01, 2023, 11:08:07 PM
Nope. For me, the only way you'd make consistent money in this industry is if you took the role of the house and set your own casino for that matter, or if you choose to go pro and become really good at one particular game. Either way, you'd never be making money out of this industry as consistently that you could replace a regular full-time employment with gambling, and frankly speaking, it's even stupid that you'd think you could do it. It's good and all to aspire and dream of having a comfortable way to create profit, but you gotta be grounded sometimes as well. You know that a major percentage of people in the gambling industry couldn't even turn a profit if their life depended on it, and here we are talking about the possibility of making bank with gambling.
588  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Health Benefits of Gambling on: December 01, 2023, 10:02:21 PM
Gambling is not bad after all but addiction is, gambling has been receiving a lot of negative reactions and feedback but gambling also has a lot of health benefits associated with it but you can only get these benefits if you are a responsible gambler and you have total control of what you wage and limit your bankroll

These are some of the benefits to see more of its benefits you can read the whole article here

Can you add more besides what's written in this article?

Surprising Health Benefits of Gambling

It's good and all, but are these benefits you're listing exclusive only to gambling? If so, then what does gambling do that sets it apart from other ways for you to de-stress, other than it outright asks for your money with no guarantee of return?

It's fine and dandy to actually find a way to put gambling on a new light. This industry's had its fair share of flak and hate over the years after all, but it just feels a little pretentious if not dubious to actually list stuff like these when we have gambling addicts who are already stressing about how they'd make ends meet and earn their money back. Perhaps let's just dial down and actually just stay in our lane regardless of the hate or whatever. If you're sending this not to dispel hate though, then what is the reason?
589  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Its A Gambling Joke But Reflects Bad Things About Gambling on: December 01, 2023, 09:05:14 PM
It became a common joke here in the Philippines after online cockfighting became a massive thing. Lots of guys here who had nothing to do with their money finally found a way to waste it and there went the selling of properties which included houses, motorcycles, cars, and other type of stuff so they can fund their behavior, or fund their lifestyles after wasting all their money into gambling. Hell, I even heard of rumors about highly-influential people in the country actually losing hairs and huge wads of cash over this stupid game. And lately, the tragic loss (they literally vanished out of existence without a trace, and it's still an ongoing investigation in our country as of now) of some big-time cockfighters in the Philippines, possibly at the hands of the crime syndicates in my country.

Reflection of the current situation when it comes to gambling addiction yes, but I instead focus on the humor aspect of it. It’s funny after all lol.
590  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who says you can't be a millionaire in sports betting? on: November 30, 2023, 11:58:37 PM
I do.

You see, people like these are what I call "statistical anomalies". Most of the time, people will lose in sportsbet and would eventually lose all the bankroll that they have, no matter how good they are (unless they save their winnings and not touch them at all for a good amount of time but whatever), and then we have people who out of nowhere, gets their big break. It's just the same as the lottery basically, only that you have a greater chance at winning in sportsbets compared to lotto, anywho, I meant to convey that you shouldn't expect money coming your way when you sportsbet, it's great to wish to have the prize for yourself, but at the same time, you can't really guarantee profit in the gambling industry, so save yourself from the heartbreak, and actually just look for a regular job instead of wishing you'd get something from sports bet, or any form of gambling for that matter.
591  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why sports betting? on: November 30, 2023, 11:28:40 PM
Cause at the end of the day, you gamble for the sake of having fun. So why not gamble while at the same time, having fun by watching your favorite team duke it out in the big league? That's pretty much the biggest reason why people bet on sports like basketball and football. We also have the superfans who analyzed the team's game from day 1, and are able to check on whether they'd be winning or not against other specific teams. They see this as a major advantage, and so they use and abuse this as a means to create money. Often than not these people find out that there's more to sportsbetting than analysis, although we do have a couple who have been very consistent when it comes to their winnings.
592  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Using AI for betting predictions on: November 30, 2023, 11:06:19 PM
I can see the benefit of using AI in betting in the coming years, they are purely logical after all and provided that they work purely under code, they'd have no bias as well. But in the current setting? I doubt it. You can even rely upon AI to answer complex mathematical equations cause 9 times out of ten they'd fuck the answers up. AI's going to be the future for sure, but the present? Not so much. If you're looking to find a reliable way for you to win consistently in betting, look elsewhere until we actually get an AI model that's specifically created for this purpose. Cause if you go about asking ChatGPT which team's gonna win in the future, you'd get no useful information from it, and you'd ultimately just be wasting your time and your money.
593  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Has anyone been able to make steady income with gambling ? on: November 30, 2023, 10:21:49 PM
Pro gamblers are able to, then again there's a reason why they are called professionals in the first place. I think the common misconception among gamblers is that they could easily make a living out of gambling, since it doesn't require anything on their part anyway but to just set up capital (the money they'd use to place bets or gamble with) which is severely wrong. Gambling won't guarantee you profit unless you're the house, and if you even happened to be on a casino that's been known to fuck with their users, then you're in for a world of hurt.

It's best to just take gambling at face value and see it as nothing but a way for regular people like us to entertain ourselves, when normal things just won't do. Don't overcomplicate things and assume that just cause you know the game, you could win it reliably.
594  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling are mainly for rich and lucky mind. on: November 29, 2023, 11:37:41 PM
There's no such thing as luck, only probability. and the concept of gambling being only for the rich is a little flawed, since at its core, gambling is nothing more than a fun way for you to pass the time and perhaps earn something in the process. The only reason why it's so hard for the poor to actually get something out of their gambling journey is because they don't know how to manage their expenses, and how to gamble responsibly. I've played and been with friends and people who are earning less than I do, but are still able to squeeze in an occasional gambling session without losing money in the process, all thanks to a smart management of funds and budgeting.

Although I understand where you're coming from and frankly speaking, if this is going to deter people who have not managed their finances and their money from touching gambling and eventually ruining their lives, then might as well.
595  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you think that this is aperfect analogy of how gambling addiction starts? on: November 29, 2023, 11:01:16 PM
I would agree with what he's saying. But the thing is that most gambling addicts are well aware of the chances of them winning from the get-go. The real reason why people are falling off of the deep-end in gambling is primarily the lack of discipline. It's like you know you're gonna get paid anyway the next 2 weeks so you can go a little overboard on the budget as a treat to yourself, and then it snowballs into taking out loans on credit cards and your bank, then to your friends, and then eventually to even shadier situations and people.

I reiterate, I don't think the common gambler's stupid. They have a basic grasp of the odds of them winning. It's the thought that somehow they'd win in their sessions so they should just keep going that's causing them to become addicted to gambling in the process.
596  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Not this guy on: November 29, 2023, 10:31:15 PM
Sunk cost fallacy is at play here I suppose. The fallacy that makes you think that there's no other move for you but forward/to keep with what you're doing now since you've already invested so much time, effort, and  money onto something that caused you turmoil. People often fall for this trap since we're a little masochist every one of us. This guy's no different. He feels like there's nothing for him if he stops gambling and he's already neck deep in debt and losses, so might as well just let himself drown in it and hopefully die peacefully before the consequences of his actions catch up to him. Or perhaps he's so deluded by sunk cost fallacy that he's thinking somewhere along the way he's going to get his big break and would be able to finally get the win he deserves. Either way this makes him think that the only logical way is to keep going even though stopping is going to be more beneficial to him in the long run.
597  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sometimes betting is just ridiculous. Sometimes it is complete nonsense. on: November 29, 2023, 09:47:57 PM
I was surfing on the Instagram and found this:

(source: https://www.instagram.com/reel/CyzDDHfOU0c/?igshid=ZDE1MWVjZGVmZQ==)

I understand that this is fake and was made for a joke. But some people dont know what jokes should be ended or are inappropriate... However, since some casinos have "special" section in sports betting (why this is in sports betting anyway?), and allow to place bets on election outcome, or on Oscar winner, or on music event like Eurovision, I would not be much surprised that in 5 or 10 years we would really have such absurd betting options. And most important what scares me, that casinos will hide behind "there is a demand on such betting" and there really be people who will find this demanding.
Welp. You underestimate the lengths at which most people would go to receive their 5 minutes of internet fame. and this is no different. No matter how sensitive a topic is, as long as it's going to cause uproar in the internet and they'd get clicks for it they'd do it. Just take American School Shootings for example. This is a massive cultural problem that's caused more deaths than what America knows what to do with, and yet we see this being humored and sometimes even glorified in social media.

What I would suggest people do is just avoid giving these people the time of day. Whether you react in accordance or you show your dismay through commenting or angry-reacting their posts, that would count as an impression to them and at the end of the day, you're just going to feed their inflated sense of ego.
598  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How Many Bets to Know How Good Enough You Are? on: November 27, 2023, 04:51:09 PM
I don't burden myself with stuff like these but if I were to be asked, the safest answer I could give is at least after 100 games, spread out equally in at least 3 months of play.

For me, it's just the right amount of games for someone to find out what their baseline win-to-lose ratio is, as well as to determine what type of betting technique works best for them if anything. And it's just the right amount of games that I think would put you in the "devoted gamblers" bracket without really setting off alarms for gambling addiction or anything.

Honestly speaking, burdening yourself with finding out what your win rate is will just cause you to look for ways to amp it up even more, which might cause you to even become addicted to gambling when you're following a strict gambling regiment. So as much as possible, just gamble for gambling and entertainment's sake, be technical yes, but don't worry about trivial details like these.
599  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I recently convinced my employer to start paying me in BTC, it has been great on: November 27, 2023, 04:37:20 PM
Payment flexibility in jobs is something that to me is not further taken care of by employers, cause compared to better wages and more serious problems it's something that would get overshadowed most of the time, but goddamn is it so sucky sometimes when you get your payments delayed cause the banks are closed and all that stuff. It seriously fucks with your budget especially if you're someone who's working for a company that pays just enough for you to get by.

Props to you OP for actually standing up and asking for more from your employer, I'm guessing this is because you've been with them for a while now cause I doubt that they'd do this if you're just a newbie or someone on probation. But whatevs, hope this awesome streak keeps up.
600  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Accepting btc of tuitions payments for College/students? on: November 27, 2023, 04:23:40 PM
That is the work of a payment processor. If bitcoin price is not stable, you can use payment processor which can automatically convert the bitcoin to fiat for you. If bitcoin is legal in a country and the country's government support bitcoin payment, it will be an additional option for tuition fee payment.

List of Universities That Allow You to Pay Your Tuition Fees With Bitcoin

How about El Salvador and Democratic republic of Congo that make bitcoin legal tenders. You will be able to use bitcoin to pay for anything in those countries.
They're already in shambles already. El Salvador in particular. Saw news and a few posts here talking about how everyone in the country practically hates the new monetary system that was imposed upon them overnight. Businesses and regular joes holding protests to retort the change and all that stuff, so El Salvador's probably not the best country to use as an example here.

Although as for payment processors, local crypto wallets could do the same trick for you. The Philippines got Coins.Ph and recently, Gcash, that both offer fiat and crypto payments simultaneously, while the government of your country's haven't made their mind up yet, perhaps look into using local crypto wallets first as they oftentimes do the trick albeit with more effort on your part.
