1221  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Being Knowledgeable before Bitcoin investment is very Good on: July 08, 2023, 08:31:12 PM
I came across a post made on this forum by someone that says he has $20k for investment as such he was looking for people to advice him on how to go about it, for me it was actually a bad idea consorting everyone for investment advice because you could be lured by scammers to invest on a shitcoin as such loosing all your money because of lack of knowledge about Bitcoin or any investment in general, as someone that has no idea on investment I think the first thing was research google to learn more and also the risk involves. so I was thrilled to create this topic, so everyone could help by sharing there own knowledge on what someone that has no knowledge about investment should no before venturing into.

I may not be the right person for investment advice that's why I'm asking everyone to share their advice, views and knowledge incase something like this should come up, so people could learn and no what must be done before going into investment.
While you are right about the fact that you're susceptible to getting screwed over when you ask other people for advice. It's pretty obvious too, like, in a sea of people telling you to diversify your portfolio among bitcoin, litecoin, or whatever the fuck is the hottest cryptocurrency today, and then all of a sudden you see one guy recommending shitcoin5000 which is a "booming project with 400X profit potential" I mean at that point it's pretty obvious that it's a blatant scam yeah?

so while I still advocate for acquiring knowledge first before investing in bitcoin, it doesn't hurt to ask for people's advices too, it's all a matter of finding which people to trust and which ones to avoid, and with the merit system in this forum being a good indicator of this, you can't go wrong!
1222  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Healthy mindset to save earnings from gambling on: July 08, 2023, 07:25:16 PM
Over the years and through the various cases I've seen on TV, I've come to the conclusion that when lottery winners buy tickets they don't count on the fact that they're going to win someday, that's why when most people win a lot of money in the lottery they don't have any plans of what they will do with the money, soon they spend it on meaningless things and end up going bankrupt early, and since they were already very poor people, they don't care about being poor again, while for cases of people who play card games , or sports betting they have no idea what to do with the money they won, of course there are many cases of people who consider themselves gurus of blackjack and other card games

that when they're winning a lot they don't stop playing because they're very self-confident and they're playing thinking they're not going to lose money and with that they lose everything and are removed by the casino security guards, and when they play on the internet they also only stop playing when they lose everything. It's a very sad situation, in the case of sports bettors, many guys with experience don't even bet much anymore, they keep giving tips and making money with their social networks, and it's a fact that you don't earn money with gambling consistently, and they are also few people who know how to manage money when they play
It's not about them anticipating that they won't win anyway, cause if that was the case then lottery is going to be a dead game. It was all about the fundamental aspects of earning and saving money which most people who win lotteries don't have since a lot of them grew to poverty, and as we all know when you're poor you're not really in the position to learn how to save money especially if there's no money to be saved in the first place. Although I would agree with your idea of them not being afraid of getting into poverty again thinking either "I've been poor once so this is nothing new" or "I've been poor once and rich too, I now know what to do to get back to being rich" without really having any idea on how to be rich.

That's the sad fact about winning the lottery. You get the tools but you don't know how to use them. You get the leverage you need to win at life but you'd waste it away cause all you see money for is spending. Having a rich man's mindset is important, cause whether you're poor or not if you know how to be rich you will get rich.
1223  Economy / Gambling / Re: Some poker terminologies you may want to know on: July 08, 2023, 06:48:26 PM
Poker is a different kind of card game used mostly in casinos for gambling and unlike other gambling games it requires one to be very skillful, it's a game that needs more of skills than luck and to win and earn money, you ough to be the best at the game. In poker they call it bluffing your opponet or winning the best hand, there are other poker terminologies you may want to know, such as
Tilt - to play wild or recklessly.
Bad Beat - it's a term for badluck in poker.
Trips- When three cards looks similar it's called trips.
Quads - four cards of a kind.
Overcard - a card that's higher than any other on the board.
Acton- Action refers to a plays turn to play.
Hand - it's a set of 5 playing cards.
Ante- it I'd the minimum amount of action that's allowed to participate in a hand.
Belly Buster- a term used for inside straight draw or otherwise called gutshot
Big Blinds - It's used as a measurement of stack sizes and bet sizes in poker.
Ammo - When you’re out of ammo, it means you no longer have chips.
Arsenal - it's a term that's used to describe a players skills and style of play.

Pot - The pot is a sum of money that players wager during a game or single hand.
BloodBath - it is Sometimes used by poker commentators to describe a situation where two or more players are about to get involved in a huge pot.

Dolly Paton - Nickname for any starting hand combo containing a 9 and a 5, the name originates from the famous song “9 to 5” performed by Dolly Parton. You might also hear it being called a “full-time job”.

Fist Pump - it is a motion used to celebrate winning a pot or another positive outcome at a table.
Dirty Stack - Describes a chip stack that contains a random number of different denomination chips, all mixed together.
Grappers - The term “gapper” is used to describe hole cards that have the potential to make straights (connectors).

Poker is a very interesting game and quite easy to understand and the player with the highest card of 5 scores wins, it's said to be more easier than chess game and the more you play the more skillful you get when you understand the rules and it's terminologies, there are many here that might love poker game, you can drop more poker terms if you know any.
You'll notice that most poker terms are related with military terms however some experts might think it was originated from the military, though i dont take that as a fact

I love this. I've been trying to get into poker (well I started with chinese poker which I grew tired of eventually) and I'm having a hard time looking up terminologies that most of the people I watch play are blabbering about. I'm not about to ask them what they mean when they say gappers or whatnot (and it's not like they use it all the time too just in certain occasions) so it's actually nice that you made something like this right in the forum too.

Now, only thing left to do is to understand poker fundamentally lmao. which even though I've played for quite a while now, I still find myself discovering things every now and again which you wouldn't really expect for a game that's been here since the ancient times but yeah, It's really cool sometimes. Anyway, thank you!
1224  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Healthy mindset to save earnings from gambling on: July 08, 2023, 06:20:25 PM
Yeah right. Right mindset will get you far. But do you know what will get you even further? Actuating upon that right mindset. And what does that require? actually doing the stuff that you dream of. I see a lot of people preach about hustle culture in here and talk about how to save your earnings from gambling like it's some form of profit venture even though it shouldn't be in the first place. The fact of the matter is, all gamblers, well except those who have made it a form of living and only cause they were fucking good at it too, eventually lose all their money because gambling is a net-loss venture. You don't come into the industry with a head up high like you're some sort of used car salesman thinking you could cheat the system and win. You come in here to have fun and with full expectation that you'd lose, and that's alright.

People who see this venture as a way to get more money are fools I tell you that. No matter how much "sigma grindset youtube content" you eat up.
1225  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What attracted you to gambling?Share your experience whether good/bad. on: July 08, 2023, 05:53:55 PM
Those who are experts in gambling would tell you that you're not guaranteed a 100% success rate no matter how skilled or how well you might cliam to have studied the game even though you're a sports Analyst or well informed in a particular sports, gambling has it risks and rewards and most times the risk is greater than the reward, I'll say it's on a ratio of 60:40 that's 60% loss compared to a 40% in winnings, most people newly introduced to sports betting have had several trials yielding losses before they attain jackpot, but it varies because some people are very lucky when it comes to gambling.

About yesterday I came across a friend looking so depressed and sad and tried to interrogate with him then he said he felt like giving up in life and i asked why, he said he used about 80% of his savings to stake on a particular football game and lost, I felt so pity for him and had to encourage him with some advices.

Though I've had losses in gambling but I've never had such a sad one like he's, I was introduced to gambling by a coursemate in college who won a jackpot, thought I lost in my first three trials but played again and won about 80k in my local currency, there are people that's made millions through gambling and some others are yet to win but still find it difficult to quit, share your experience if you have any whether good or bad, cause I believe there are people here who would learn from it.
Boredom really. It was in the middle of the lockdown and everything is not available, you can't even go out to spend your money elsewhere even if you wanted to. Then in a second a couple of my friends recommended that we try some online casinos and compare wins which itself will be some form of competition too, with wagers on it of course. So the highest person who gets the most wins in a month or so gets to bag the first place and a cash prize, second gets it, third, and so on. All of a sudden I just found myself gambling a lot which I realize wasn't good. I'm not even gambling for profit, I just gamble cause I wanted to be in on what the squad was doing. That's until I saw a post here made by someone who emphasized the need to control yourself and gamble responsibly. From then on I made it a point to only gamble occasionally and all that stuff.
1226  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A qualified strategy exist in gambling? If yes, come and talk. on: July 07, 2023, 08:41:02 PM
I don't get you. A strategy to beat the casino? Red or black? You don't know what you're talking about.

Eddie, the boss of stake.com, this dude has nothing ten years ago. Now, he bought two mansions over 115 million australian dollars in last two years. This fucking kid put the right bet on the super right time. He wins.

I don't know the specific story, but if he got rich it wasn't by gambling in the casino, it was by setting up a casino, by being the owner. He may have had a stroke of luck and took advantage of the money he won to invest in setting it up instead of what the rest of the gamblers tend to do, which is to continue gambling and lose everything and more.
Exactly man I was so confused about what OP was talking about. Do we beat the house? Do we prove that the house can't be beat? I am at a loss. Do we prove that our lives can be changed with what we win with our gambling money? I don't understand what he's talking about.

But I digress, no true strategy for consistently beating a house exists cause if it does gambling wouldn't even be a big industry nowadays if every bloke out there with a fast enough internet could just go around it and find a strat that would work for their stupidass.
1227  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: how to get over it on: July 07, 2023, 05:00:21 PM
I see a strong case of addictions in ops behavior because no normal gambker will go all in since the is nothing like sure bet so why then will anyone want to risk it.

I am sure that turning the $1000 into 10,000 was so easy for rhe ops to jave gone all in and at the end lost the bet, but alsoe far more the risk associated with higher wagerer because at some oiint this all contribute to the outcome of the game.
I wouldn't be so sure about pulling the addiction card too early. He's a dedicated gambler and I for sure think he's gambling with a goal in mind and not just for profit. I saw a previous post of his where he's shooting for a million dollar win, so with that being said it makes sense that he's making these bets that's a little unconventional to say the least. Just cause you're gambling high amounts doesn't necessarily mean that you're addicted to gambling, and inversely just cause you have a deep bankroll that you're not burning through doesn't necessarily mean that you're not addicted to gambling. As with NAPK1NS he has a goal that he's trying to push through, he probably knows his limits and is just making this post out of the frustration one feels when their goal's a little too hard to attain.
1228  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How is your Gambling Pattern Like? on: July 07, 2023, 04:20:25 PM
It's either I gamble every other week, or I gamble only when I really feel like it. No in betweens. I used to gamble religiously back in the day and I find that I'm slowly succumbing to addiction all because it's slowly becoming a bigger part of my life than how I wished it could be. So I stopped for a whole year and only came back to gambling when I felt that I'm not gonna be subject to such deteriorating behaviors anymore. It helped a lot actually.

Remember, I'm not a gambling addict, I gamble what I have it's not mean I gamble anything I have. I make sure only gamble when I can afford to lose and it will not cause a harm to my life.

Being a gambling addicts is not a guarantee that could mean you will definitely win because of that, it may even be the reason why you may always appear far away from winning at this cause, this will call for more of the understanding of gambling than being addicted without anything to show after.
Being a gambling addict will only give you problems, especially if you can't control yourself. And if we can avoid becoming gambling addicts, we try to always protect ourselves from the temptations given by casinos because we know that once we are tempted, it will be difficult to let go.

Moreover, being addicted to gambling will always follow a person until that person finally loses control of himself. It's better to gamble with what we can afford to lose so it won't endanger our lives.

one thing for sure is that once we can not control ourselves in gambling then we called ourself as an addict that every single day we need to gamble in order to fulfill our wants. That's why in every bet we made, we must make sure that we can handle ourself In order to get addicted. That's why in the world of gambling we must take care of our ourself and have a discipline.
You could say that it's a good sign that you're slowly going too far, and that if you keep at it you're definitely going to be addicted to gambling. Fulfilling our wants is a little broad too, people who are addicted to gambling do so because they have a motive that's beyond want, they see gambling as an end-all-be-all solution to whatever they are having problems with.
1229  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you find it offensive to be referred to as an addicted gambler? on: July 07, 2023, 02:46:42 PM
If a friend of mine that’s a gambler call me a addicted gambler, I won’t be angry, but if it’s just a friend tag that those not not gamble, then it’s a insult and I will be angry, why will you call me addicted gambler in public, it those not make any sense, why will you call me a addicted gambler in public, that means you are trying to insult me in public. If a gambler like me calls me the name, then I will see it as a normal thing.
Lmao I don't understand where you're trying to go with this example but I guess you have a point, being called out in public isn't nice but then again sometimes it takes public humiliation for you to realize that something's wrong with your behavior, especially if you yourself is a little on the stubborn side and wouldn't be expected to listen to your friend's advices even if your life depended on it.

In my society, if they see that you are a gambler, they see you as a bad influence, or a bad person, if you are a gambler, it’s better you keep it to yourself and don’t expose yourself to the public, because immediately people know that you are a gambler, then they will stop associating themselves from you.
I don't think that's how it works my friend. The question revolves around whether you're going to be offended if someone intervened with you. This is provided that people already knew you were a gambler in the first place. Additionally, there's a reason why gambling earns its negative reputation amongst the public, you can't blame them for thinking that some gamblers are gone for good cause at the end of the day, that is the truth in this industry.
1230  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Game Winner Result Changed After 24 hours (Defaulted) on: July 07, 2023, 01:31:35 PM
This is from eSport Dota 2 game that happened 24 hours ago.

Quote
Though no official reason was given, BetBoom’s Ivan “Pure” Moskalenko was found out to be alt-tabbing during a paused game, pulling up another stream — reportedly Aleksandr “Nix” Levin’s, who was broadcasting the Bali Major.
- Read more here

BetBoom Vs Tundra = Winner yesterday is Betboom
After 24 hours, they defaulted to a loss for Betboom.

I think the reason is one of the players of BetBoom was caught cheating, but the game already settled in most gambling platforms.

My question here is, what will happen to gambling platforms who already settled the bets?
Should they revert back to the winnings and losses of their users? What will happen to the losers and winners of that game to the bet?

I can see there are some platforms that already deducted the winning of some person from their balance.

The most logical path here is to just get it on with, and refund the wins of the players who made a bet to Betboom and give it to Tundra, although of course, there would be issues that would come around considering that they already made the bet. I'm not sure as to what would happen or what other casinos would do in this type of situation, but I'm guessing it's either of these two choices:

1. They give both parties the win, in which case everyone would be happy but the casino would suffer immediate losses which they can probably gain anyway in a day or two, a whole week if they are unlucky.
2. They don't do anything and carry on with their lives, in that case people will definitely bang on their door to do something especially those who made bets to Tundra since they deserve the win in a sense.

Among these choices the best one would be the former, except for the temporary losses they could recuperate anyway especially if they are a reputable casino, this act of honesty and integrity could paint them in a great light to gamblers, resulting to more revenue for them as these people will surely recommend the casino to their peers.
1231  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Quit gamble! Easy or Hard? Let's talk. on: July 07, 2023, 12:35:09 PM
Boys. It is time to quit gamble. I created a topic about taking gambling as a major income or not and fought a lot of kind people who held an opposite point. I own them a truly apology. I am sorry. No matter who you are, gambling is only for fun. Never take it as income at anytime. If you are still gambling, you should quit now. If you cannot quit by yourself, there are so many channels to help you. Even you can talk to me. I will do my best to help you.

Just some chemical reaction happened in my mind today, I get the point at that moment. Gambling for income is totally wrong and toxic for spirit and body. You will never be successful in that way. But I like gamble is still the fact and it will never change if doing nothing. So, why not open a stream and show it to all people who have interest on that. Let me prove how hard or easy to quit gamble. I will only gamble the affordable fund only. Maybe less. I am streaming 24/7. If some software problems disrupt, I will fix that except sleeping time.

Quit gambling now!

If you decide to quit gamble or take gamble as entertainment only, welcome to join me.

I hate gamble!

https://kick.com/fuckdice

Update 1
Boys. You can't imagine how relax I am when decide to quit gamble. Here is the way. I will stream all my gambling behavior with recording. No stream No gamble. If you are going through the same situation, join me. You will obtain a new life.

What's with people in this forum dialing everything to 11 and taking radical stances over everything? Can't we just all be partial? You literally could still gamble and have fun without ever thinking of it as a source of income, so what makes you think that ditching it is the great answer, I mean talking about this makes me sound like an addict lmao but there's no other way we could drive the point any more. All of it boils down to what you really want to get out of your gambling habits. If all you want is an hour or two of fun and nothing more then go for it, if you're seeing gambling as a way for you to earn money that's where the problem starts. You don't have to go full ballistic in here saying that everyone should quit gambling.

Happy for you though, you found out the problem and cut the head of the snake as fast as possible, perhaps gambling just isn't for you and that's okay.
1232  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why do 90% of Bettors Lose in Sports Betting in the Long-term? on: July 05, 2023, 11:32:18 PM
There is always an element of randomness in sports events, which makes their results unpredictable. Even with good strategy and analysis, one cannot rule out the impact of an unforeseen event on outcomes. I think,  Because of this, even the most experienced sports betting players cannot achieve steady profits in the long run.
I think it's funny that OP praised his post like that. I mean of course eventually all gamblers will find themselves losing on a game regardless of how good they are with their strats and discipline, this isn't a zero risk activity after all. But if in the case that's not what he meant and he meant something along the lines of gamblers losing all of their bankroll and ending up on a negative net profit, it's all because of randomness as you have said, and at the same time the greed and hubris that you get when you won something massive and you suddenly think you're invincible. You would be lying if you say you didn't feel this and answered this overwhelming sense of pride which then lead you to losses you didn't think you could recover from.

It's a truth of life, people will inevitably fail sooner or later and there's nothing to it.
1233  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling scenario that keeps repeating on you on: July 05, 2023, 10:41:54 PM
I have this kind of gambling scenario that I’m always experiencing when I’m gambling. Whenever I use bankroll that is close to 00 like 80, 180, 290, 360 and so on always result to a lose in the end. It’s very hard for me to surpass the nearest 00’ milestone no matter how hard I try on betting slow or quick. I knew the problem is I’m rushing to achieve that goal to have a closure that makes me struggle on the game instead of focusing on being happy to play the game.

FYI, I’m always winning easily above 00 target that I’m struggling to get from the above scenario when I start my bankroll far lower from 00 balance like 30, 40,130, 330 and so on. I hope that you get I mean on my balance description.

Do you have this kind of same scenario that puts you on an infinite loop when you are gambling as in you don’t move forward at all?
Either that's just you and your pattern-loving brain to blame for this post, or there's really something going on lmao. Have you tried this with a different casino? Have you made extensive studies and experiments to determine whether what you're saying is really valid? Cause if you'd ask me, and I mean this in a way that doesn't come from a place of insulting you or whatnot, but perhaps you haven't played that much games to begin with, so much so that every loss you get, you attribute to something else instead of looking inward and realizing that when you gamble, you immediately sign yourself up to the risk of losing. So maybe go back and give us an update if an extensive research was made that could prove or debunk your claim.
1234  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Virtual bug? on: July 05, 2023, 10:18:41 PM
I work for a casino house a couple of years ago - I could make a serial reference since it's been said in most of my post here.
Alright,?? Cashiers were assigned to manage the activities and book on desired games for all validated customers, but i normally noticed something very displeasing - sometimes, I felt bad for any gambler that lost in that same way and It looked to me like a kinda "money heist" program.
Here is it; A gambler could bet on correct scores - mind you, this all happens only in Virtual games - let's say, 3-0 and, since the games are being displayed on screens for them to confirm Thier winnings, it could even happen that the game stops at the 82nd minute, maybe with a 2-0 score, but once it rules out and updates the scores on the score sheets,.what we all see is 2-5...
Now the question is, how can 5 goals from the away teams be scored in barely a time to blink?? Could that have supposed to mean something different? Maybe a bug? Or is it some sort of misprogramming?

Sandra 🧑‍🦰
I don't get this entirely, so does this mean that casinos are actively making efforts all to ensure that players won't win? Do you have any proof of this? Cause if this is so then we're probably looking at a class-action lawsuit against multiple chains of gambling sites/casinos if proven that these casinos/sportsbooks are actively undermining their players in the name of profit. But for now, given the fact that we don't really have enough evidence going on besides the fact that you said you "worked for a casino one time and you saw this", it's safe to assume that this is just a visual bug or a bug in the system that could easily be fixed to give the players the peace of mind they need. This is most especially if the outcomes don't change and the players are still receiving their wins.
1235  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Discussion - Being an Active Poster in the Gambling Board on: July 05, 2023, 09:43:24 PM
Our history of posts indicates that many of us are active contributors to the gambling board. We engage in discussions about various aspects of gambling, including sports betting, different casino games, and even stories, whether real or fictional. The topic of gambling addiction has been extensively covered, to the point where one could compile a short book on the subject just from our discussions. We have also shared our opinions and insights on gambling strategies. Considering all of this, I would like to ask:

  • Has being an active participant in the gambling section helped you develop more effective strategies for winning bets?
  • Has it aided you in overcoming gambling addiction (if you were addicted) or developing healthier gambling habits?
  • Have you noticed an overall improvement in your gambling experiences?

Let's delve into this topic because beyond simply increasing post counts, there must be genuine benefits to actively participating in these discussions.
It did actually. Looking back from where I was in 2019-2020, I would say that I was in too deep into my gambling addiction, and if not for intervention from friends and myself, all thanks to the gambling discussion by the way which back then had no shortage of constructive topics that discussed the dangers of gambling addiction and how you can get off it in the quickest time possible. It had helped me create healthier habits when gambling which I in turn share to people.

The problem with the current face of the gambling discussion board is that, compared to how it was in the past I can tell that people are just making posts about their gambling addiction to gain attention and not really apply all the "help" they asked for in their posts, which is a bummer.
1236  Economy / Gambling / Re: What other gambling sites offers free bitcoins like freebitco on: July 05, 2023, 09:08:08 PM
I would say that the time where faucets are relevant and useful are already over. Bitcoin's valuable right now and it's getting harder and harder to mine and allocate bitcoins to people nowadays, especially if they don't get anything from it other than internet traffic. sites like Freebtc stayed afloat because of ad revenue and the fact that they involved gambling in the equation which then lead to them being able to recycle cryptocurrencies from players who lost and have these bitcoins gained from player's losses be allocated back into the treasury. Other forms of faucet on the internet are nothing short of scams or baits that are there to ensnare you and keep you occupied with ads and access without ever giving the profit they had promised.
1237  Economy / Economics / Re: Am I a bad person if I manage to avoid taxes? (Hypothetical question) on: July 03, 2023, 11:19:40 PM
It's just a hypothetical question and says nothing about me. I decided to open thread with this question for a lot of reasons which I'll explain down below.

If you think about inflation, taxes and your salary at the same time, you'll understand how the government eats you alive. Let's start with the fact that იf you live in Europe and have a normal salary, you have to leave almost half of it in taxes. Then, when you want to go for shopping and buy something in store, including food, clothes, technics, etc, you have pay your taxes of those items with already taxed money. Then, the store owner has to pay taxes of the income his store generated. Distributors, who deliver things to these stores, have to pay taxes too. Then there are vehicle taxes, property taxes. So, absolutely everything is taxed and on top of that, our salary is taxed and even on top of that, we experience inflation. This is not fair!

So, my legitimate question is, after all the robbery, a person, who doesn't pay taxes, is a bad person for the society or not? More likely I want to get answer from those whose countries have a model similar of European healthcare and employment insurance.

You’re liable to accept punishments from tax-related issues if and only if you kept at it design people all in all, while the other is if you abused the glitch in the system which could happen. So with that regard, if you took it multiple times. Plus you can’t be worrying about your taxes when there are countless character on the market, as long you don’t so anything funny god walls are so funny and in this hypothetical characteristic. So all in all, if uou don’t do anything stupid from Alpha’s room. You’re pretty much absolved every one you blocksd.
1238  Economy / Economics / Re: Has everyone become too pesimistic about the economy? on: July 03, 2023, 10:41:50 PM
I'm a pleb like most of you, and I too have, many times, become pesimistic about the economy in general and in what's about to come. But has anyone ever considered that,

- The economy is not going to crash into a recession
- That there will be an actual soft landing
- That the Russia - Ukraine war will not escalate into a European war
- That Gensler CAN'T truly ban crypto
- Institutional investors will come back and take Bitcoin to six digits

I'm probably missing more narratives, but you get the idea.
It's one thing to be pessimistic, but it's also another to be realistic. I enjoy thinking about things getting better eventually since that keeps me off the constant ringing of problems in my head at the very least, but this economic and global struggle we're in isn't going to end or be gone with a few papers signed and hands shaken. You have to understand that the people who involved themselves in this mess had a clear motive in mind that diplomacy in this stage of the scuffle isn't going to fix.

These goes for everything that we're dealing with right now, crypto at risk of getting banned, Russia not relenting from annexing Ukraine, China's housing bubble collapsing, among other issues, as well as other stuff. This is real, this is happening, optimism is great but if it takes your eyes off of the real situation it becomes delusion.
1239  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Not your keys, Not your coins" is not enough on: July 03, 2023, 10:20:41 PM
« Not your Keys, Not your Coins ». « Don’t keep your Bitcoin on exchanges »

These advices are excellent, and no rational person with a genuine interest for Bitcoin should ignore them. There's no need to explain why, when you consider the number of scandals, scams, exit scams and accounts frozen / seized by the different CEX; because, let's not forget, CEXs work hand in hand with governments.
All the people advising this are therefore informed that CEXs are not reliable, do not work in our personal interest, and rightly so.

However, every time I read this on the internet, people stop at the Bitcoin storage step. That's not enough. There's another important step: exchanging Bitcoin.

So why not just advise and tell people to stop using CEX entirely? Bitcoin is by nature decentralized, why make it centralized? Why should a CEX that doesn't deserve to store our financial funds, our cryptos, deserve to be left with our banking and personal information?
Is it really that important to take the risk of having your funds frozen, losing your personal data, and enriching these useless people? Who wants to contribute to CZ's wealth, or encourage Coinbase in their disgusting practices?

Some will reply that CEX users choose "convenience ". Even that's not true! How is passing your KYC to Binance and using their UI easier than installing/using the Peachbitcoin (for example) app? It’s not! The only reason CEXs are in this position is because they benefit from substantial advertising resources.

We have effecient, fast, simple, user-friendly and totally P2P solutions at our disposal. For example :

-Bisq, a great P2P exchange, focused on privacy
-PeachBitcoin, their motto is #KYCfree
-Robosats, simple and efficient for those using Lightning network
-Majestic Bank, where you can swap BTC and XMR in a privacy-friendly way
-LocalMonero, another P2P exchange platform ; privacy focused

There are plenty of others, which you can easily find on kycnot.me

So why not advise people to use these services, in addition to advising them to use a non-custodial wallet?
Why shouldn't we be as enthusiastic about advising people not to use and register on CEX as we are about not storing their BTC there?

Not your keys, not your coins. No CEX at all.

P.S. : In this topic I'm not interested in altcoins and launchpad / launchpool type products, I'm only talking about Bitcoin exchange and storage. Personally, I don't think any launchpad justify a KYC procedure, but it's up to each individual to determine his or her priorities.

For those who want to read more on this subject, I highly recommend this topic from GazetaBitcoin

While I agree with you, and truth be told I support with all my heart and soul the novel advocacy that bitcoin drives thanks to its decentralized nature, there's a method to the madness that these people who support and use CEXs are under.

For some, it's the convenience that it brings, "don't worry about the KYC process as they say, it's the one that's got 5 stars in the App Store, it got good reviews on Google Play, and a lot of people around me are using it, so why shouldn't I?" is some of their argument, which is a strong one at that too cause for me, there's little that could compete with convenience and efficiency, two things that CEX are able to do so with finesse. The paradigm is slowly changing however, as more and more people see how flawed the CEX world is, so in the future, it's pretty possible that more people use decentralized no KYC platforms in stead of the ones that we use right now.

There is already an existing thread for this discussion and I advise you to continue with that discussion instead of creating another thread for the same discussion.

Back to the topic:  Police brutality has been on the increase across the globe and I wonder why officers of the law who are meant to protect the citizen's right are the same violating those rights to the point of committing extrajudicial killing of the 17 years who is underage so this has resulted into the unrest witnessed a cross french over the last weeks.
This goes way back too, which was evidenced by the fact that France has been in the headlines for quite a while now, and the existence of previous threads about this issue. It still all boils down to dissatisfaction with how the government is being run for the interest of the few instead of the many, and the ongoing police brutality debacle. If there's one thing about France that we should know of, it's that they don't take these things lightly, especially if it causes massive disruption in their way of living, I mean, their Marie Antoinette was parted from her head for a reason, and so was their king.

So yeah, you fuck with the French people you'll get the horns. That's pretty much it, and Until they are satisfied with how the government works and the dissolution of the current police system in place, this is gonna carry on for a while.
