921  Economy / Economics / Re: Used cars and real estate market very volatile and a lot people will fomo in on: December 18, 2023, 03:58:49 PM
Used cars? Really?

Secondhand properties I can understand and get behind, but I don’t think there’s a market for used cars now unless we’re talking about luxury cars or muscle cars for that matter, and even then we can’t guarantee that since the car industry depreciates in value every year more drastically than the smartphone world.

As a businessman I get the idea behind setting up a used-car dealership. But as a customer or perhaps a flipper? You’ll have better chances flipping NFTs and cryptocurrencies cause no one’s gonna buy your 80k mileage Toyotafor higher than its set , even if there’s historical relevance to it. No one’s gonna buy the car that Michael Jackson used to go to grocery once or whatever the fuck they sell items in the auction for nowadays.
922  Economy / Economics / Re: Luxury and spending lifestyle fastest way to poverty rich kid on: December 18, 2023, 03:37:34 PM
If you want to be rich sell to rich kids.

you’re saying that we should sell drugs and liquor to rich kids who are now poor because of drug addiction and alcohol abuse?

the example you used are kids partying and spending money like it’s nothing it’s true that you could have them as your target market and gain profit but this will weigh in on too much on my conscience i also don’t think we should sacrifice our own safety just to get rich

instead you’d want to sell to middle-class people sell them items that are luxury looking but are cheap i’m not saying to scam them but a lot of middle-class people buy fake goods because they want to seem rich for some reasons they’re the most expressive about their purchases
That’s literally your own interpretation to an age old quote lol. Why would you sell drugs to kids come on bro for crying out loud.

Selling to rich people if you want to be rich is a common practice.in which case you don’t sell them products nor services, so yes no drugs or whatever the fuck you just thought of with that post. What you sell to rich kids are experiences and your skills.

Some people make it out of poverty by offering something that other businesses or providers couldn’t. Once-in-a-lifetime experiences, skills that you canmt top nor replace, this is just some things that you can offer to the rich. Basically become anything that they wish their sorry and boring lives are, if you’re able to do that you won’t need to sell drugs to rich people. They’d become intoxicated from your presence.

Been seeing people who directly get funding and backing from the rich. Facilitate charitable institutions and laboratories in the rich people’s name. There’s just a lot of ways you can execute this. Make your brain work.
923  Economy / Economics / Re: Insurance is important on: December 18, 2023, 03:22:17 PM
I don't know who needs to hear this but you need to get insurance if you have assets that are your source of income and it can be insurable. This may not mean much to a lot of folks in developed countries because they're familiar with it, but a lot (and I mean a lot) of people in underdeveloped countries don't care about insurance.

I've read stories of people who were okay financially going broke because they have spent all they had to treat an illness for themselves, their children, or loved ones. I'm not saying insurance is our personal lord and savior, but it can help you in tight situations.

Around November last year, I volunteered to join a local and small NGO that was taking food, drugs, and other supplies to flood victims.
For context of how big the flood was, we used speedboats on roads and it was as though we were on a high sea.
Experts gave lectures on how to prepare for a flood and not wait for it to be too late. Some of the people we met told their stories.

We met one woman whose case I found very interesting.
She had a farm; a fishery and a poultry farm. The poultry was much bigger than the fishery. The farm was so big and established it made her thousands of dollars monthly in gross income. The flood took her by surprise, she was able to rescue some feeds and animals, but she lost so much of it.
Now let's ignore the fact that she was careless for not believing the warnings that a very big flood was coming because, in her words "In my 56 years of being alive and my 17+ years of doing this business, I've never experienced the tiniest bit of flood"
Let's focus on the fact that neither her farm nor a single thing on the farm was insured despite generating that kind of income.

Because of the damage we saw, the NGO started a campaign for the government to help these farmers with grants and loans so they can get back on their feet (but y'all know how politics gets). This allowed us to visit this woman at her farm. She's back on her feet, but it could take years to get back to what she was before the flood.
If her farm was insured, it most likely wouldn't have taken her that long.

There are many more people like this. A cab driver loses his care and he's back to square one because that's his source of income. Others get an illness that is expensive to treat and they go broke trying to pay for the treatment.
A husband and father die unexpectedly and leave nothing behind, leaving the wife to struggle alone to take care of the children. This takes a family that was comfortably a middle-class family to a lower-class family.

If you make money, get health insurance for you and your family, and insure your assets that are a source of income, businesses. Get a life insurance to secure your family's future.
There's a saying " hope for the best and plan for the worst".

I’ve had people in my circle of friends who underestimate, or completely distrust insurances either because they just don’t like the sound of it, or because of how insurance is portrayed in media and pop culture, especially in the US where they say it’s much more likely for you to get fucked in the bunghole than to have your insurance claim approved. In the Philippines even, we get insurance brokers who weaponize other people’s mishaps so they can entice more people which is just poor taste and leaves a massively bad impression on people’s minds.

Personally I want to trust insurances and start making sure that my family and I are prepared. But until the state of things change, I think I’d be okay leaving wads of cash and crypto to my loved-ones if ever things go south.
924  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling and Behavioral Change!!! on: December 17, 2023, 11:12:51 PM
For better or for worse gambling will definitely affect you mood and behavior. I've seen the most common example being that people are more neurotic and hasty with their decisions, sometimes even hysterical just cause they couldn't for the life of them not let gambling rule their lives. On the other hand I've seen people become more responsible with their money, with some even being able to set up spending allocations and budgets as well as financial planning which they got from gambling.

Gambling can change you. but don't let it be for the worse. We have enough people in the looney bins already, make sure you don't become one of them.
925  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Type of gambling and Intelligence on: December 17, 2023, 10:31:08 PM
Hmm. That's quite the question. Honestly, I say that games involving you having an upper hand against the house or the opponent, like card games, for instance, require more brain power and therefore benefits from having smarter people who play their games. Of course just cause you down poker tables doesn't necessarily mean you're the next incarnation of Einstein or whatever, but compared to games like slots who doesn't really ask for anything from the user besides the bet they make, these games certainly have that effect of making you feel like you're intelligent or whatever.

Then again, I only ever care about making sure that you don't blow your whole money away. You can be the smartest blackjack player on the planet but if you don't have limits placed upon your bankroll, you're bound to lose everything anyway.
926  Economy / Gambling / Re: Banned from RollBit for Italian users on: December 17, 2023, 09:50:30 PM
You might have considered posting this on their Ann thread here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5326640.0 so someone from their team might be able to reply you.

From the image above, it's clearly stated that users from Italy and the rest above mentioned countries aren't allowed to use their services. So it might have been a fault from your friends end since he is an Italian. This shows why it is very necessary to read the Toc of and service before using them.
Yeah. But then again unless his friend used a VPN to access Rollbit and play in the gambling site I think the fault is not entirely upon the user. It's a must that you read the terms and agreement yes, but let's face it, no one's reading all of that especially if you're slapped with a great wall of text talking about business mumbo-jumbo you know jackshit about. Court cases were filed for this discussion and users have won under the same premises, so in that regard I think Rollbit should really go out there and make their site inaccessible for countries that they are ineligible to operate with (If they already haven't). If they do, then nice and I guess the fault is really upon the user this time. Rollbit's not liable to do any more business with him.
927  Economy / Economics / Re: What class of an investor are you? on: December 16, 2023, 11:59:31 PM
Any type of investor’s just as good as the next (obviously besides the ponzi magnet guy), cause what you do when you invest into something monetary is not only wish about getting rich, but strive to earn a much comfortable future than the one you have right now by making your money work for you. So perhaps worry less about which type of investor you are (so long as you’re not getting into any shady schemes which involves getting rich or all that shit cause let’s face it, even bitcoin doesn’t promise that much from way back then). So yeah, just go for it and invest in whatever you think suits you best. Keep in mind that it’s your money and future that you’re banking on.
928  Economy / Economics / Re: Pay discrimination on: December 16, 2023, 11:40:17 PM
Don't worry, there will also be a market correction for them. Look at the jobs in the companies like McDonalds, people don't even want to apply for them anymore.

The pay is too low and they're like asking people to come and apply for them. When most people stopped living the life that they're dreaming of and they set to just live like having a normal life, there's no need to rush and start the dream life that they want.

Life is too stressful today so as these companies that have a lot of pay cut to simple jobs. But anyway, if we can't bear this disadvantage, what we need to do is to upskill.
You make it sound as if the blue-collar worker’s not gonna get hit badly if such “correction” ever comes., you have to keep in mind that the ones at the top of the market are able to just pull the strings and save their asses as the boat sinks. So yeah, before you wish for comeuppance. Make sure that the ones you fight for don’t get hurt in the process.

Ever wondered why so many companies nowadays are pushing for AI workers, example being those automated servers/waiters in fastfood restos, as well as other automated task processors? This is so they can brace themselves for when blue-collar workers finally mutiny and defect from the current system to fight for their rights. Of course the automation narrative is there, but let’s not kid ourselves.
929  Other / Meta / Re: I think it's possible to keep going without banning mixers on: December 16, 2023, 11:02:58 PM
I for one wanted to keep the mixers in this forum. For one thing, they embody the true decentralization and anonymity that cryptocurrencies are boasted for. To ban them is a massive shame but at the same time, I understand where Theymos and the bitcointalk team is coming from. It’s bad enough that crypto’s seen as a hacker and scammer’s safe haven, with mixers being the primary weapon for this. The thing is that in the advent of mixers getting banned and shamed in social media, bitcointalk couldn’t risk the same ridicule and flak, so they have no choice but to actually ban them and prevent such thing from happening.

Perhaps in the future, such ban is to be lifted, but I doubt it personally.
930  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gamblers trickily claims they wins the bet while they never did. on: December 16, 2023, 10:11:46 PM
I mean first off. Why would you take other people’s words for it? I know the world’s not a cold and dark place like they make it out to be but you have to have at litle bit of skepticism at least. First off, no one who win’s a lot og games would have the fucking galls to chat you out of the blue to brag about their wins. If anything they’d let the least amount of people in on their shtick to make sure that it doesn’t get fixed if it was a patch, or to make sure that no one saturates casinos with their technique if it weren’t.

So yeah. Have a little bit of skepticism with these things. It’s okay, no one’s gonna give you crap for being a little curious about a couple of things.
931  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Prove me wrong: Gambling is both more relaxing and entertaining than trading! on: December 16, 2023, 09:34:52 PM
I think it’s all about the intent and purpose which makes you feel like gambling is more relaxing than trading.I mean it should be first and foremost cause gambling’s supposed to be an entertainment method you take for when the other pastimes you have just couldn’t cut it for you. Trading on the other hand is your passive income stream to get those moolahs apart from your regular emplpyment, and since money’s more in the line with trading. It only makes sense that you have to be more stressed and serious when it comes to trading.

Some people may feel like trading’s the relaxation facet, and honestly, that’s okay too!
932  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A gambler takes his own life after a loss. on: December 15, 2023, 11:47:04 PM
This is common news if you'll ask me. A lot of people who are in too deep in the gambling scene's looking at suicide as a final resort. I often see reddit threads about this topic too, where casino staff who obscures their identity on reddit confess about the dark sides of the casino industry, with suicides in the bathroom stalls or their complementary hotel rooms being a common scene. Some already suicidal folks would take a loan in the bank, splurge it all off in the casino for one last high, and then off themselves in the casino premises as well. It's a depressing ordeal and to think that this is happening all the time in brick-and-mortar casinos just fucking me up so much in the head from trying to fathom the mental fortitude it would take for you to actually stay afloat in that industry. Jesus christ.
933  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can I ask for refund if casino game has bugs? on: December 15, 2023, 11:25:33 PM
For some casinos you could send a complaint or an appeal, provided that you give them the proper documentation stating the fact that you experienced a bug on their part which led to the loss. if you couldn't provide such then you're sadly not gonna get too far. Some casinos outright trash these kinds of cases and complaints cause there's nothing in it for them monetarily. If you personally experienced this and are looking for options to take your win/money back, check with your casino first if they offer such, I personally take it as a red flag if the casino I am in's not taking complaints about game-costing bugs and glitches but it's all a matter of preference. If they take your complaint to heart and fix your issue, congrats, if they don't. I suggest you take your business elsewhere.
934  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gamblers should not believe in first game win trap on: December 15, 2023, 10:56:37 PM
Beginner's luck, first win trap, they're all the same heuristic fooling people into thinking the odds are with them when it can't be any farther from the truth. There are casinos out there who keeps a profile of every gambler and they may throw a few chickpeas to them in their first game to just entice them to play and spend more. Some casinos just give out coincidental wins to keep either that losing person going, or to keep that first-timer in the game by fooling them into thinking the house is fair.

You must know that every casino has they own set of kinks to earning their money, but none of them would play the 50/50 game with you. If you won first time then good job, but don't expect the subsequent games to be as lucky as that first one.
935  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you remember when Twitch banned gambling? Now they allow nudity! on: December 15, 2023, 10:05:55 PM
Yeah pretty braindead rule on their part I must say. But there's method to this madness I must say. They are hoping to cater towards a much larger audience which in this case involves artists and other creators that delve in the art world, so they have more freedom to express their stuff without getting the ban hammer. I'm guessing they overlooked the fact that there are people who will look for loopholes to avoid getting banned while still being able to do these stupid things.

I give the benefit of the doubt to Twitch on this one. But at the same time I condemn them for banning Gambling since at the end of the day, as Asmongold puts it, the platform was never meant for kids in the first place.
936  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Logic of some gamblers against math on: December 14, 2023, 11:44:31 PM
Heater is what gamblers usually call that, reason being that it's a particular section when you're gambling where most pressure is at. Now, as for the reason why gamblers tend to do the stupid thing and bet higher on multipliers is because they can flip their losses easily even if they win just a single round in that. I've experienced this myself first hand and it was very awesome to say the least. The argument for those consistent winners who still keep on betting on heaters despite the fact that they already won is of course, to make more money.

Does this make sense to an outsider? No? Is there a method to their madness? Yes. So in these types of situation do I mostly exempt gambling for profit since there's a really good chance in these settings, but then again, the losses will suck too, if that's a gamble you're willing to make, then so be it.
937  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you wrap up your gambling session? on: December 14, 2023, 11:11:55 PM
I wrap it up not in hours but in prerequisites. Cause I learned a way to manage my bankroll effectively while at the same time keeping me from ever experiencing gambling addiction. For one, I only ever gamble for three wins or three losses per day. Once I reach those limits, I wrap up or call it a day. That way, I either make sure I don't incur any more losses and risk losing all of my money in one sitting, or I win substantially that I was able to make more than my initial bets.

To wrap up doesn't necessarily have to be about hours or whatever, although optimally I would suggest you not take more than an hour or two per session, since to me, any more than that and you're making gambling a bigger part of your lifestyle than it's supposed to be, and that is going to be a problem.
938  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Heritage is Some How Spiritual on: December 14, 2023, 10:17:15 PM
For a sec you got me thinking about the metaphorical sense of spiritual here but you quickly brought me off-track with that "some teams are just cursed" (non-verbatim) statement you made lol. I don't think curse is what keeps them from bagging any wins or titles for that matter, and just as with any other sport in the game I think it's all a matter of skill here. On one hand you get powerhouse teams with A-list players that knew the game's very life fibers and have unlocked it with much success. On the other hand we have teams with barely any notable player, a weak lineup, and a system of play that has not worked all their lives, who do you think would win? Plus the fact that no sponsors would want to feature their products on a losing team, which severely hampers the capability of that franchise to pull other powerful players, and you get the current setting of football where the greats keep getting the Ws and the losers are left to clap for their betters.
939  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The shorter the time you spend the better on: December 14, 2023, 09:53:58 PM
This is a genius strat, as it's always agreed upon that the more time you spend inside the casino/gambling site, the more propensity you place yourself into spending more money within. I've seen that happen to my friends so I know it's for real. In any case, I get the hunch that you can still make this a little better, by actually setting achievable time constraints instead of just telling people "you should limit your time inside casinos" which could mean they'd have to spend at least 2 hours less if they gamble for 6-8 hours lol (but for real tho, this is real for some people)

In any case this is a sound strat, couple it with managing your bankroll well and you'd get yourself a pretty great technique that will keep as much of your bankroll as possible, and would ensure that you don't lose your head from gambling addiction.
940  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which one is fun, watching with bet or without a bet? on: December 14, 2023, 09:22:14 PM
I say the fun factor is just the same, but with watching while you're betting there's a certain sense of excitement/nervousness that comes with it. When you're watching with no bets there's nothing in the line for you to be worried about, even though most games are predetermined by the initial conditions at which it finds itself anyway. The same can't be said for when you have a bet on the line. Whether that's something that stresses you or something that gives you even more hype to watch depends heavily on you but personally, I like a little hype in my games every now and again.

To some people this may not spell well, but as I said, it's all a matter of preference at this point. Either way when you bet there's always a chance that you win or lose the game regardless of if whether you watched it or not.
