1121  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gamblers Belief on: July 24, 2023, 11:46:11 PM
The hope of a gambler often leads them into situations they often regret upon losing the funds that was meant for something else. Courage to do so without minding the cost is what even makes the gamblers belief in hope much stronger.

OP, you know we can also allot pride and ego to fit very well with hope in this gamblers corner, because the hope of winning must have been spurred from previous wins, and the mind that the cash used for gambling is inexhaustible and sufficient.
Inasmuch as what drives the gambler is different for different folks, hope for some individuals is nothing more of a believe in a better tomorrow and it has been programmed in the subconscious.
It only really manifest because the person has channeled it to focus on gambling.
Sometimes, hope is a poison. When people rely on hope and forget to ground themselves in reality, and in turn they make the most deranged of choices in the name of hope and hoping that the odds will be in their favor, that's when things go sour. It's one thing to be hopeful, it's another to be delusional and think that just because you've been dealt a bad hand 99% of the time, the next try's going to give you the win you need. Life doesn't work like that, if it does then trying would be the biggest business and vocation now.

I hate that OP painted this stupid notion of the addicted gambler's mindset as if it's something to applaud and glorify, people lost lives and money because of this false hope, if you're going to depict hope in it's purest form find a different example lol.
1122  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling Abuse ... on: July 24, 2023, 11:19:14 PM
While I would agree with the fact that gambling can definitely be abused by people, I don't agree much with the analogy you made. Tramadol while considered a drug, is way more detrimental to people's lives than gambling in my opinion. There are people who certainly threw their lives away through gambling and I only wish these people make it out of the hell hole they subjected themselves into but not only is tramadol life-disrupting, it's also deadly when used in excess.

I would advocate under the same banner as you since I sorely abhor gambling addiction, but at the same time we gotta paint a clear picture to the people we want to send the message out to so they don't mistake/misinterpret what we're trying to say.
Very well said, but you realize the tramadol analogy is just an analogy after all, I didn't use it wit a mind of trying to compare the drug to gambling or compare gambling to the drug, from what I know, being addicted to gambling could be more dangerous to some people more than being addicted to the drug, and for others, the revise might be the cause, I personally wont come to the conclusion that either addiction to the drug or addiction to gambling is more dangerous, it all depends on the individual involved, at least, I know a gambler who was addicted to gambling for just two years and later ended his life at the beginning of the third year due to a supposed mistake he made, and having been addicted to tramadol in the past myself, I know a lot of  guys who are addicted to the drug for several years now and still alive and kicking.
With that we both agree. I never meant to portray that Tramadol is more destructive than gambling mind you, just that these two things disrupt the person's life in different ways. With regular gambling there's patterns you won't see from people who's drugging themselves with Tramadol, and that's my only concern cause some people may think that these two things incur the same effects to the people which goes great if you want to scare off people from gambling, but bad if you want to make a point.

At the end of the day it still stands, gambling abuse sucks, so does substance abuse. I only wish recovery for people who have subjected themselves in these dire situations.
1123  Economy / Economics / Re: Would you consider moving abroad? on: July 24, 2023, 10:42:40 PM
I understand where you're coming from my friend, after all I was raised in a family where my dad worked abroad too. While I would understand your reservations in the field of language, I would say that's going to be the least of your worries soon as you decide to work abroad. With countries like the USA and UK being outright discriminatory against people who are not of their own race, your biggest dilemma will be how to dodge racism and discrimination, especially during the ever-increasing Asian Hate within the US territory which as the term implies, specifically caters towards discriminating and in some cases even injuring and violating Asian people, that's just one of the stuff you'd have a bigger worry than the language barrier.

Still, I'd say with the economic situations we're in it's better to eat your pride and actually do something to make your life better, which in this case is working abroad.
1124  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you think selling your property is better than taking loan? on: July 24, 2023, 09:56:06 PM
I say its better to actually sell than subject yourself to a loan you'd have a hard time paying. For one, the act thereof of taking a loan when you're not even sure if you can pay it back is already a big problem my brother, since not only are you subjecting yourself to bigger financial troubles, you're also ruining your self-image against friends, family, relatives, or basically everyone who trusts you and is on your side. If you think you're not going to be able to pay it on your promised time, worst not even able to pay it at all, then might as well just find other ways to supplant your lack of money, like getting a job or actually selling your appliances like what OP's friend did. Better to inconvenience yourself than bring other people to your dilemma.
1125  Economy / Economics / Re: Fast Transportation Makes Economic Turnover Faster on: July 24, 2023, 09:39:01 PM
I'd say there has to be a balance of cost-effectiveness with travel efficiency for economic turnover to happen. Like for example, while it's certainly great to receive your pizza as soon as possible (which means more money for Domino's or whatever Pizza house you order your food from), it's pretty excessive to use high-power equipment like Jetpacks just to achieve maximum delivery efficiency yeah? Not to mention the ever-increasing price of gas too! I say it's not fast transportation that we really need. What we need is efficient roads and avenues that do not congest. The eradication of Traffic will completely solve the problem that we have with transportation and economic turnover. And how do we solve that? Commuting and Carpooling.
1126  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Elon musk is for crypto or just for attention to boost Tesla, SpaceX? on: July 24, 2023, 09:08:13 PM
Saw this news a while ago. I must say this is one of the most stupid things he has ever did so far as a belligerent CEO of multiple companies, and he's already one of the most deranged ones out there. Twitter is a multi-billion dollar brand that people painstakingly worked hard for since 2009. Not the mention the amount of acclaim and promotion that it has received over the years. To rebrand twitter for no reason besides "continuity" as all his companies had "X" in their names is just stupid and is going to cost him a lot of money in the long run. He's already bleeding cash in Twitter, and he's seeing a worthy competitor in Threads, instead of aggressively selling the benefits of Twitter over their competitor he chooses to change the brand and all that. Good luck.
1127  Economy / Economics / Re: How to increase profit in business on: July 24, 2023, 08:45:02 PM
The only way you can increase your profit potential as a business owner is to scale up your business. If you continue serving the same demographic, your money will stagnate as every target demographic possess specific spending power. So scaling up to cater to two or more target demographics, while a costly and risky move, is the only surefire way for you to continuously increase the power of your business. It has been done in the past, food providers, alcoholics, even apparel providers took this approach and with a stroke of proper marketing and a fuck-ton of luck, they were able to go big, some even offering franchising opportunities for people who wanted to use the business's name so they don't have to worry about creating competition.
1128  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Deposit limits on: July 24, 2023, 08:18:13 PM
I mean that's the very nature of it anyway, these implements aren't necessarily imposed by the casino upon everyone cause we still have high rollers with a greater capacity for loss and wins, but at the same time they know they need to cater to people who are on the uncontrollable side when they gamble. That's why disclaimers are put where the casino is effectively free of any responsibility if the gambler chooses to disobey the parameters he set for himself in the first place. At the end of the day, it's not the casino who's going to help you with gaining discipline and control over your gambling urges. They may try all they could to make sure that you're not straying too far but the decision will ultimately lie upon your hands. If you can't settle with that then might as well not gamble cause you're effectively relinquishing control just so you can blame someone else.

1129  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Got scamed by Stake on: July 24, 2023, 07:55:39 PM
You misclicked. That's all there is to it. I don't think a million-dollar gambling site like Stake's going to cheap out on customer experience by letting these "bugs" as you put it roam freely on the site. And here I thought you have a serious accusation too lmao. Next time be very careful when you're making bets and don't bet on handicaps if you want to bet on match winner. Plus you're literally asking for money right away and we don't even know who you are. You're literally bullshitting us right now if I'm being honest.

If you have a complaint with Stake, best to put it to their doorstep and refrain from asking people money when we don't owe you anything at all. And if you're that crazy over measly 75 pounds, you might wanna stop gambling altogether as you're definitely not in the right financial disposition I reckon.

1131  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lost bitcoins on: July 23, 2023, 11:53:18 PM
Lots of stuff that affects the price of bitcoin, the ones at circulation are just a factor of it. If it were to be discovered and returned into circulation, depending on if it were to be sold outrightly, or if it were to be sold to be traded yields two different outcomes. The former causing the price to go down cause it depreciates the value of bitcoin by dumping some of it especially if it's a substantial amount, but the latter wouldn't do much cause at the end of the day, nothing of value is lost.

I would argue that the recovery of lost bitcoins would even be great for bitcoin cause at the end of the day, that's more bitcoin that would be in circulation with more people being able to buy and use it, so whether they sell it or not, the price change will be temporary, but the benefits will stay with us until bitcoin's gone.
1132  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Michael Saylor a modern apostle like Peter and Paul? on: July 23, 2023, 11:32:48 PM
Here we are again with the people who thinks bitcoin is the second coming of jesus christ or something. I mean it's one thing to be happy for its existence and support it with whatever you can but it's another to truly idolize it with the idea that it's the answer to all of the world's problems when it clearly isn't. Stop it with this you're more cringey than bitcoin maximalists. Michael Saylor did nothing but to preach bitcoin and buy it for microstrategy, I don't think he'd go as high as Peter and Paul in acclaim and fame just cause he supported one cryptocurrency when this thing is decentralized and the effort of it becoming a global currency lies upon the people and not among the hands of these promoters. Stop it. it's stupid.

1133  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Stephen Fulton vs. Naoya Inoue | WBC & WBO 122 lbs bout | July 25 on: July 23, 2023, 11:08:08 PM
^ That is a controversial statement by his coach, but it seems that Fulton is just shrugging his shoulder as if to tell this coach to shut up.

In any case, Fulton with or without that hand wraps, believes that he can and will beat Fulton as his own country in front of his crowd. So that is the mentality that Fulton has right now. No need from his coach to throw some rants on the media. Japanese is very respectful, but if you talk trash maybe we will see Inoue unleashes his full potential and power at super bantamweight as he might be agree with that statement.
I feel like it's just the coach doing something to either rouse the people's suspicion or have a say when his kid loses, cause now he can say that Fulton lost cause "inoue fought dirty and did something that is considered illegal" when he's probably just doing something that all boxers do anyway. Inoue is a capable fighter as many have said with or without help and to top it all off this is a home country fight, there's no way he's letting himself down in front of the people who trusts and believes in his ability.

But if it came to investigation I still think Inoue would prevail, and if it does come to that point with Inoue's innocence being proven, I say Fulton's coach must be sanctioned or something lol, You can't just do stuff like that.
1134  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can Chat GTP destroy poker on-line gambling??? on: July 23, 2023, 10:47:14 PM
It destroys the purpose of playing games and gambling out money on the online platforms. So what would we do? Just sit and watch AI do all the thinking and try to compete another AI? That’s all?

Why do we think that casinos will allow this and let us say this is actually implemented somehow with the back doors then what do you think will happen to the casinos. They would go bankrupt and shut themselves. Or may be they would love to get on the other side of casino and just run the AI to make money for themselves.

The entire idea is hoax. It will never work.
Casinos will never let that happen no matter what, if people can develop AI models to cheat the casinos and earn money through them, casinos can also hire developers, develop AI models to prevent AIs to enter the casino and be able to gamble, and I'm pretty sure that they can easily achieve that because if AI can give gamblers the opportunity to gamble with it, it can also give the casinos the opportunity to fight back against this system of cheating.

And I don't even understand why would people be interested in using AI models to gamble with when it will only take the fun away, even if you are gambling to win a lot of money, the fun is when you are watching that happening in front of your eyes and not by an AI you've put to work.
I'll tell you something icy. Gaming AI is a double-edged sword. However, my friend, the edge isn't uniformly distributed. Casinos won. Their home, their rules. They'll find AI faster than supercharged bloodhounds. Your AI model will fail soon. No party invite, right?

Why is gambling AI so hyped? Why watch a machine play your hand? Doesn't the game's excitement, like the dice roll or card turn, make our hearts beat faster? Enjoy the celebration. Don't eliminate players. No bots!

And that is considering that AI gambling is even usable, we all know it's ass just considering the fact that it takes a long while for them to learn from data fed to them, and with poker having octillions of possible combinations, not to mention human-based strategies like bluffing it would take octillions of years before AI even becomes a better competitor/predictor of events. Quantum Computers could do something about it but we all know that shit's not going to be commercialized just because it's too powerful to be given to people who could use it for bad things.

At the end of the day, just gamble without the notion of "I gotta win this shit" cause that's when you go stupid and make questionable decisions like relying on AI for odds and answers lol.
1135  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gamblers Belief on: July 23, 2023, 10:24:31 PM
Hope is a good thing, until you let it poison you.

It's good and great and all that but sometimes staying grounded and realistic will save you from trouble too. Such as with gambling, you can't stay hopeful and faithful to the process cause you know out of all people that the process is rigged against you and it will come for your ass if you let it. So staying a little realistic and setting up boundaries is just as important as having the propensity to take risks. Just as what some people have told you about in this thread, having hope is not going to guarantee you wins. It just gives you the confidence to make those choices and switch up when you need to. You have to differentiate staying hopeful to copium and making belligerent choices in the name of profit.
1136  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Irresponsible behavior at the Las Vegas Casino on: July 23, 2023, 10:08:37 PM
I've gone so drunk that I pass out and stuff and I say pretty outrageous things but I never went so far as to embarrass myself like this. Which brings me to think what the fuck is going on with these types of people to make them do stuff like this when they are drunk! Cause alcohol doesn't make you do stupid shit and I know this, what it does is just give you enough confidence to do whatever you want that's why some people call it liquid courage lol. So seeing people go absolute stupid when they are drunk is just something that makes me wonder what type of people they are really, or at the very least what goes on in their heads when they're sober. All in all I think it's entertaining lmao, disrupting and weird but entertaining nonetheless.
1137  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Greed can cause a lost bet, (true or false) on: July 23, 2023, 09:45:09 PM
While I wouldn't really go so far as to persecute you, cause after all you're gambling as responsible as possible but at the same time I would agree. Sometimes we get ahead of ourselves and that proves to be our downfall cause when we feel invincible that's when we're humbled by the losses. But then again, as long as the loss is not debilitating so much so that you're no longer able to gamble or provide for yourself after, you should be good to go. I take it sometimes as "just testing the waters and seeing if we can get more from taking a bigger risk", which we as gamblers do every now and again anyway.
Thats a rough one, man. You guys really missed it. On the other hand, as the old adage goes, "You miss 100% of the shots you dont take." You gambled, and while it didnt pay off this time, you'll be more prepared for the next one.

Bets can be compared to actual sporting events. Some days you win, some days you lose. Getting a perfect score isn't always the goal. What matters is how you get yourself up after falling down.

Try not to be overly critical of oneself. Perhaps a more helpful strategy would be to establish a betting limit and stick to it no matter what. In this way, you can avoid the temptation of including a potentially game-changing addition to your wager. Always keep in mind that the first step of a thousand (or in this case, bets) is the hardest. Don't give up, mate!
Exactly. That's what I'm trying to say lol I just couldn't quite put the finger on what the saying is but yeah. Taking risks and then losing is better than regretting that you didn't take it. I take it that OP is gambling properly anyway and just took this chance to go big or go home, but I would agree, a better gambling strategy wouldn't hurt.
1138  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: As a gambler do you have a potential winning amount limit? on: July 23, 2023, 09:23:19 PM
Not so much as a potential winning amount limit but a winning limit actually. When I gamble I tend to go on a high roll so I don't really worry about not meeting a quota or something like that, plus I don't really gamble for profit anymore and this is more of a thing to instill discipline upon thyself if you catch my drift. So I tend to set 3 wins/3 loss limits on myself whenever I gamble which is simple: You bag 3 wins, you're good for the day, You bag 3 losses you're good for the day too. That way, I could keep all my winnings and end on a positive, or keep as much of my bankroll as possible without loosing it all. I've seen someone talk about it in this forum a couple of years ago, and I was interested so I figured I should try it, so far it has allowed me to stay disciplined whenever i gamble which is not that much anymore, and at the same time it kept me on a relative positive bankroll so far.
1139  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We All Know, The halving time will be full of drama on: July 22, 2023, 11:46:18 PM
So far we have had three halvings, and the fourth is fast approaching, and funny enough, we always do have some sort of crisis, or will I say some price dump, on or before the Bitcoin halving, which usually drops the price of Bitcoin drastically to its lowest level compared to its ATH.

1. As we know, the first halving happened in 2012, and during this time, the price dump happened just a year before the halving, which was In 2011, when the price fell from $30 to $2. And this was as a result of the Mt. Gox exchange hack incident, in which a total of about 850,000 Bitcoins were stolen.

2. The second one was 2016, and the price dump was in 2014. After the price pumped in December 2013 and reached a new all-time high of $1200, the next month, January 2014, the price fell below $550, and this was as a result of the Announcement made by China, who have always been against crypto, which states "Bitcoin was not a currency and could not be used as a form of payment."

3. The most recent halving occurred in 2020, which was the one I experienced, but before the halving, the price had already reduced from its all-time high, which it achieved in December 2017, which was about $20k+, but within a period of a year, there was a global regulatory attack on ICOs (Initial coin offerings), just as the SEC is attacking Security tokens. Back then, the regulators requested exchanges comply with what they called "Anti-money laundering (AML). This, I believe, was when AML and KYC became mandatory for most of the centralized exchanges out there. The pressure that came with this resulted in the price crash from $20k+ to its lowest of $3,500 in December 2018.

It's been its rhythm every time lol. From 2012 up until the last halving which was 2020, things just conspire somehow to fuck with bitcoin's value for the meantime and then all of a sudden it bounces back anyway. This time will not be different I'm pretty sure of it so people should brace themselves up for a bumpy ride. People are already mobilizing with various crackdowns on cryptocurrency and bitcoin overall and I wouldn't expect these things to stop any time soon. As for the halving I'm not sure where it would lead us as there's no definitive reason that would drive the value of bitcoin to the moon other than the fact that it is halving. It's good enough but we'll need something sustainable to keep the bull run from going for as long as possible, otherwise we'd just be disappointed come 2024 when bitcoin's price trend couldn't match our expectations.
1140  Economy / Speculation / Re: Indonesia National Exchange Open in the end of July 2023, Is bullish Start? on: July 22, 2023, 11:23:55 PM
The market is warming up for 2024 bull run but the bullish start has yet begun. Indonesia is not a big country in cryptocurrency so this news is locally hot only and it does not create big impacts globally.

The market will be warmed up more in coming months and I believe its bull run next two years will be related with Bitcoin Spot ETFs. When we have a first Bitcoin Spot ETF, Bitcoin will take that big news and fly over the Moon. When will it come?

I guess some late months in 2024, a few months after the halving in April 2024.
Big or not the upsurge of purchase and trade that this will bring is definitely going to do something to bitcoin's price, could make it move from its comfortable seat at 30k. could make it drastically jump to a different price point which it has been marinating now considering the halving is almost afoot. But the latter's not really somethign we should expect outright, since as you said, Indonesia's not really big when it comes to crypto and at most what they could do is create a surge of domino effects within the Southeast Asian Region.

at the end of the day all we could do here is speculate and hope for the best. The fact that countries are one at a time opening their doors for cryptocurrency amidst the backlash and hate is more than enough evidence that bitcoin and crypto has a chance to prevail.
