(kindly quote for visible)
US Government Sells Another 8,200 Bitcoin, On-Chain Data Confirms
The US government is slowly but surely ridding itself of its BTC connected to Silk Road.
On-chain analysts at CryptoQuant have confirmed previous rumors that the United States government has sold another large batch of Bitcoin (BTC) connected to the defunct darknet marketplace, Silk Road.

For more details->source

I have been hearing for a long time that large-scale of selling and buying Bitcoin has a big impact on the market. So now a question arasie in my mind that how this proccess manupulate  the market. I wanna know some details from you guys.
Thank you
-----
~speedx~

Let me put it in a language you can understand brother.

Suppose I have apples I sell by the bulk, and then one day, I wake up, setup my store and my business, and then out of nowhere someone buys all the apples from me, from the stall nearby, and basically everywhere else. That would effectively drive the value of apples yeah? Cause now every apple vendor knew that it's the hottest shit in the business world, and with that being said they can sell apples however they want cause they know people will pay whatever amount just to get a taste of this apple stuff. Now picture this, all of a sudden one day while business is booming every one decided they don't want apples anymore. People far and wide especially those that bought apples at an all-time-high price will wish to sell these now worthless fruits just so they don't lose money!

If you caught the metaphor behind that analogy I made, that's basically what the influence of a buy and sell in the market is, this doesn't just apply to crypto. This applies to anything with a value and an economy.
1142  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will You Stop Gambling Even If You're Doing Great If This Happens To You on: July 22, 2023, 10:32:59 PM
Will you explain to him that you are doing great and you are not a compulsive gambler
Will just stop gambling  and be practical and get that multi million inheritance
You'll just go on with your passion and just forget the money that your father will give to you as inheritance.

Let's discuss this scenario is possible

5 years is too little to stay away from gambling, there's nothing saying I can't go back to gambling when I receive the inheritance so I will be well behaved that period and get the trust to receive the inheritance. When I get the money I can start up my own casinos for gambling.

In my casino, I'll be the house so now I have the edge over others and won't be gambling again instead I'll now be an owner of a casino and probabilities are that I'll include sports betting for sport better lovers. It doesn't matter how great I was, I'll stop gambling for this.

Does anyone has gambling as a passion, people I know mostly gamble because they're in need of money and are looking to double their money by betting. The inheritance is a big money that I'll get without working for it, I might never win such amount gambling so I'll take it.
Brother right here thinking with supreme cunning lol. I wouldn't be so cruel as to do this to my own dad but I can see it happening in real life to some people. In some sense it's not like it's going to cause you any trouble either since at the end of the day, you're not the one spending money to burn anymore, people do it for you and you get paid for it too! So a little cognitive dissonance on your dad's side if he ever sees this in heaven lol.

At the end of the day, and I said this in my previous comment too, whether it's to appease your dad's wishes in his final days on Earth, or if you just wanted to be on his good side so you can get a piece of the pie, you'd still make him happy and content, and provided that he does give you the money you think you deserve, it's a win-win for everyone yeah?
1143  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you gamble because you don't have sufficient money? on: July 22, 2023, 10:12:57 PM
So my question is, is the percentage of the rich gambling lower than the middle and lower class?

To be honest, i don't have any percentage data related to what you said. in fact, it is very likely that what I say is true. why, because we cannot give an assessment that is not an area that we know about. however, based on my perspective and to the best of my knowledge. that most rich people just play for fun, even though in reality they lose big at the stake. they don't need to worry, because the money they have meets all their basic needs.

the difference is with middle and lower class gamblers, not infrequently they bet involving money that is supposed to be for their needs. in fact, some others are willing to reduce their basic needs. assuming, hoping to win big wins from the bets they make. In general, gamblers of this type are gamblers who like this type of lottery bet. it could be, what you say about percentages, is most likely close to the truth. However, that doesn't mean it's completely true. because in most cases, addiction knows neither the rich nor the poor.
I mean that's the basic gist of it anyway. The poor gamble because they feel like they need to, the rich gamble because they can. Plus as I said in a previous comment I made that certain gambling forms like sweepstakes and lotteries are literal money traps that are made to lure poor unwitting people into playing, they paint the picture of a better life if you win the game and claim the jackpot, but we all know that's far from happening considering the whole system's rigged against the player. Still, since these poor people, most of the time uneducated and desperate to get their big break in life, fall victim to these traps where they constantly spend money, some of them even dedicating a portion of their salary to pay for tickets and shit. Can we do something about it? No, not really.
1144  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Pros and Cons of Crypto vs. Traditional Gambling on: July 22, 2023, 09:47:17 PM
First off, stupid to even use credit card for funding your gambling needs. You're literally digging your own grave with that kind of mindset let me just tell you. Another thing, we pretty much know what the ins and outs of gambling in between these two fields is since most of us here (and I know I speak for everyone when I say this) we've already used cryptocurrency gambling, land-based casinos, and fiat casinos too so we pretty much know what the strengths and weaknesses are of these things. Lastly, your site isn't allowing us to access it for some reason. It tells us "You have been blocked" or something which I would guess is because your site is region-specific. If you want to advertise a casino this is not the best way let me tell you.
1145  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Crypto Casinos vs money laundering. on: July 22, 2023, 08:53:56 PM
Let's be honest, money laundering is the best thing that can happen to a casino and there is where most of high rollers comes from. I have seen some rollers in the past that runs some huge scams and then go to the casinos to play with the scammed money and with that justify where they get the money from after hitting some huge wins.

Nowadays most casinos has KYC, but i don't think that is enough to stop the money laundering, what casinos should do is to investigate the source of the deposits to fight against this illegal activity, but that will not happen because is a win-win game from them.

So, what do you say, does crypto casinos really care about money laundering?
The thing is, and this happens everyday mind you, things wouldn't be a cause for concern until the cops' sirens are heard. With that idea in mind you could put two and two together in the sense that these casinos aren't exactly tolerating it, but aren't exactly against it either as it doesn't disrupt their business for one, and it's not something that they can't outright ban cause it would take massive efforts and a whole lot of enemies too on their part just so they can uphold justice.

So until the authorities do something about it, perhaps mobilize a police task force that tackles specifically money laundering, we won't see any movement on the casino's part as they are in a precarious situation where they can't do anything else they risk losing their business one way or another.
1146  Economy / Economics / Re: Is some certain lifestyle a waste of money and time ? on: July 22, 2023, 08:28:48 PM

Here is what happens to my friends and me and I am sure this is a reflection on different financial values and life attitude in general. Well, I don't drink any alchohol while a few friends of mine love drinking very much. They would gather to have dinner/drink almost every day(at least four times a week). I am often invited but due to my no-drinking habit, I usually turn the invitation down. We are all family men but they are a few years older than me. Their children are much older than my kid so probably they don't need their fathers' attention and time. I always put my family first so this is also one of the reasons I don't join them that frequently. Financially, every gathering meal/drinking is not cheap because it involves a lot of drinks and dishes. The average cost of such dinner/drinking is equivalent to 1/5 the average monthly income in the city where we live. So every month, the cost for these "gatherings" consumes all the income that a man can earn for months. This is considered a huge waste of money in many people's eyes cause most people don't earn much. Although I don't drink, occasionally I will treat them and pay the bills for the guesture of friendliness. Do you think my friends' lifestyle is a waste of money and time ? How much do you spend on such gatherings on average ? Please let me know.
Here's the thing. You can take it practically and suppose that these people are wasting their money away, which is true cause there's no reason why you should spend that much on stuff that wouldn't last you like food and drinks, and they do this on a regular basis too which is weird but whatever. In any case You can also see this as these people trying to enjoy their lives to the fullest. They prolly know that it's impractical, they most likely know that it's stupid too, but they are people who are having fun with each other's company and that alone, at least for me is already worth the money that they are spending. Perhaps it's not your cup of coffee my guy, but we can't shit on other people's way of living just because it's not up to our standards, just as they can't shit on yours cause that is how you want to live your life.
1147  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: lost access to my bitcoin wallet... on: July 22, 2023, 08:06:39 PM
so a few years back i had a few bitcoin on a hard drive but today i tried to access the harddrive and i ended up spilling a glass full of water all over it and now it wont boot up.

what are my options?
We got people out there that are able to repair or at the very least retrieve data from spent or broken hard drives plus technically the wallet's not entirely on your hard drive especially if it's saved on a program like Electrum where you can retrieve it using the private keys. Sucks to be you if those same keys are saved within that hard drive and you can't remember it anymore. But yeah technology's pretty fucking advanced nowadays that you can tinker with old hard drives and access the files/data that's stored in it even if it's already broken. Just need to find the right guy for the job and you should be good to go. That's at the very least considering you are telling us the truth, but I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt.

1149  Economy / Economics / Re: Building a prosperous business on: July 21, 2023, 10:41:25 PM
OP, you could just link to the article where you got all your ideas from. Why decorate your post if you do not own your own experience?
I see your effort, but apart from the fact that you simply paraphrased with the addition of the source, you could not tell anything about yourself. In fact, without experience, you are just an amateur talking about theory.
But, yes, my family has a small rental business in my area. Partners have found excellent suppliers who supply them with a wide variety of bakery products, and since our store is located next to a residential area, it is convenient for residents. But I would not call it big business, since taxation works far from favoring the seller.
Lol OP right here gathering second-hand obvious and basic tasteless information about starting your business when they never even thought of setting up one. It's these kinds of posts that irks me cause I know they are at some levels useful, but at the same time you know it's insincere and baseless when their whole thing is to actually actuate what they are talking about and use the experience as a response. Oh well, that's life in bitcointalk for you.

In any case, and this one's not exactly from mine but from my aunt's varied attempts at setting his own meat shop in our neighborhood. During the height of the pandemic, they chose to set up a business using loans they took from our government-backed insurance company and from there, they started their own business. You would think this is some form of success story but it's not, cause just a few short months in the loans bit them back in the ass and they weren't able to turn a profit, let alone a return on the capital which lead them to stop with the business altogether. Quite sad if you'll ask me but at the same time this is a spitting evidence that there's caveats to taking up a loan for that business idea you have.
1150  Economy / Economics / Re: Rent or buy real estate - let's have a debate on: July 21, 2023, 10:02:06 PM
Objectively, buying is better than renting.

think of it this way, when you buy something like bitcoin or in this case, real estate, you're not availing service or something that is consumable, you're buying a commodity that will consistently give you profits. It's more of a barter trade than a purchase really, cause when you buy a $400k worth house, you're not $400k short of money after the purchase, it's a $400k traded investment that will consistently give you money provided that you take care of it. Of course renting has its upsides and all that but at the end of the day, buying real estate will always be better than just renting it, even the point of reasoning being the fact that houses are now expensive still goes back to buying real estate as a better choice.
1151  Economy / Economics / Re: Pool strategy of investment for wealth multiplication. on: July 21, 2023, 09:40:03 PM
While it has its obvious merits, one of which being the fact that the potential for profit is significantly higher than if you're investing alone, the drawbacks of investment pooling is a little too high for me to consider picking it up. For one, the risks of the bagholder running away with the money we have is quite high, even if it were to be someone you already knew and trust (I've been in this same spot before), problems with the division of profit and all that could easily be resolved in my opinion, but I'm just too skeptical in these kinds of things that I wouldn't really be able to trust someone with my own money even if my life depended on it lmao. Not saying that it's not a viable strategy cause for all I know massive corporations and infrastructures were built using this strategy in the past, it's just not for me.
1152  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: the adoption of Bitcoin in institution on: July 21, 2023, 09:20:15 PM
I think it's great and all that but what people, especially some bitcoin maximalists here fail to consider is that no matter how big or small the infrastructure is, the decision to use bitcoin will lie in the hands of the common joe. These companies no matter how big or how rich they are, unless they forcefully make the people use bitcoin, will not be able to persuade the public to use it. In some cases such as BlackRock purchasing bitcoin this may even be seen as a bad thing as for someone who's in the industry, whales, corporations, and central governments have been one of our biggest unsung enemies. So yeah, it's good and all cause they drive bitcoin's price higher, but at the end of the day if you're looking for adoption, it's still going to be up to the people.
1153  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: $1,080 Billion powerball lotto winner in the USA on: July 21, 2023, 08:43:49 PM
$1,080 Billion lotto win! And we (in some threads) discuss why people play the lottery! Smiley

Well, this is why people love lotteries... The higher the prize more people are playing, making the prize pool greater and greater. As some of the members said, this guy settled himself and his family for generations. It's always nice to someone hit a huge prize, and of course, we hope that our moment will come as well! Smiley
Exactly. It's the prospect of winning big with a small entry fee that gives this people the idea that "their ticket to a life-changing jackpot is just 2 dollars away". Without realizing the fact that it's mostly exploitative cause they feed on the poor people's money rather than the rich ones, and at the same time the possibility of you winning in the lottery is less likely than actually getting struck twice by lightning. This added statistic of unlikeliness is also one of the things that sensationalizes the winnings of a single lottery player, which itself creates a feedback loop of people hoping that they'd get their chance (like you lol) someday, when as a matter of fact it just wouldn't happen at all. So while the lottery is good and all that, You shouldn't really hold on to it every time you make a bet unless you want to be disappointed that is.
1154  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Hacksaw gaming slot game experience on: July 21, 2023, 08:16:36 PM
Honestly thought that they were just ripping me off cause I never won anything in their games which doesn't really faze me that much cause I'm not gambling for profit but after a while you'd think that their games will be much more lenient on you, only to be disappointed cause they'll never let you win at all! I switched to a different slot provider after that cause Hacksaw's basically a hack for me lmao.

My experience with Hacksaw games hasn't been the smoothest ride either. Despite this, their games are akin to a hardcover mystery novel with a lousy ending, but a beautiful embossed cover. It's the graphics that make me keep spinning!

Interestingly, I've recently had a somewhat pleasant experience with Hacksaw's "Mystery Motel". It took me about 600 spins to hit the bonus round, and even though the payout wasn't exactly jackpot-worthy, it was definitely better than the pennies you've experienced. The visuals were stunning and the storyline, enchanting. Might be worth a try if you haven't already!
Good for you then if you're able to win something lol cause as someone like me who never really pushes for a large bankroll especially if I'm not feeling like investing a lot in a game, Hacksaw's not going to be your best friend. Although I would agree with you, their visuals are definitely on a whole another level.
1155  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou Boxing October 28 on: July 21, 2023, 07:53:55 PM
Dana be like

Dana would be like that if Ngannou lures more fighters from UFC into boxing or have a fight against Jake Paul Cheesy UFC has faces a curse of "being the best". Now everyone wants to bite them. I think that we wont be seeing Ngannou much in mma or boxing fights after this fight against Fury. I believe that people who used to be poor get access to tons of money, they get spoiled really quick. That is a proven fact. Imho Ngannou gonna get his millions and be more a promotional tool for PFL or sits in his chair (he has a position there) and just manage promotion.

Seem to be the very nature of man. When eventually they made a ton of money they become a burden to a lot of people. Looking at Conor now, he spends here and there and he seems high all the time and recently he knock out someone in a bar.

Ngannou could over time turn into something if he won't get to learn the wisdom. He is humble though, we just don't know how long he will be that way. But they come from a very humble beginning though. Sure he had seen what money can do to people.  Cheers to Francis, hope he KOs Fury. Wanna see his life story tbh. I think they talk about his life in a movie  Grin

Ngannou has already tasted the taste of being selfish and greedy Cheesy UFC made him name, and now he overestimates himself. He does not like this and that, he wants to earn X <-- that much and etc. Plus all those issues with former coach and training partners. When he was working sand quarry he wasnt that much selective of what he wants Cheesy I am sure he will throw out something when they will be about sign contract and fight.

With so many haters waiting for his fall, I don't think Ngannou will ever want it to happen to him. While today people are discrediting and undermining his skills, the more he will prove them wrong.

Being greedy and being selfish I think is what mostly people learn from the people surrounding them as well. Which selfish and greedy people also dislike the people with same traits. All I can say is that Dana and Francis is somehow alike. But people like seeing a bullied person like Ngannou fight back and win.

I do hope he prove us people wrong. While I'm rooting for Tyson and all that I know for a fact just how powerful of a fighter Francis is, but the caveat is that he's not as skilled as Tyson, he's not as fast, and he's lost confidence in most of his abilities. I hope he gets his pride back and I mean this with full on honesty and sincerity cause I really want this fight to happen but as it stands today it feels like either one of them's gonna chicken out or the fight's outcome is decided long before it even begins, with Francis getting worn down blow after blow with no trade.

If I'm being honest right now the only way Francis would win against Tyson is through a sucker punch in the face, but even then that's a big if.
1156  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: $1,080 Billion powerball lotto winner in the USA on: July 21, 2023, 07:29:29 PM
I just saw a news on youtube that someone won the $1,080 Billion jackpot prize on the Powerball lotto in the US. In the video I watched, someone claims that she was the winner, but as of now, there is still no official announcement from the lottery organization. also, the store where the winning ticket was bought will receive a $1 Million bonus from the organization.

anyway, it still really surprises me that if the winner decides to take the prize in one lump sum, they will only get half of the total price because of the taxes that will be taken out.

here's the video I saw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LINxj6C-00c
Honestly through and through there's no real merit to getting your money in lump sum rather than receiving it in payment plans. First and foremost the latter ensures that you have consistent cashflow until the whole stuff is paid out, and yeah you also get to avoid more taxes. I saw someone win a $1.2 billion powerball prize, he took it in lump sum and the taxes came up to about $800 million dollars which means he only gets to take $400 million home. Oh well, it's people thinking irrationally in the heat of the moment. Let's just hope and pray whoever won this stupendous amount of money gets to keep it as much as possible you know. Cause there's a tendency for these lottery winners to blow their cash away in just a short amount of time.
1157  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you gamble because you don't have sufficient money? on: July 21, 2023, 06:54:56 PM
I was in argument with someone. His view is that people who gamble are those that what they have is not sufficient for them and so they try to make more money from gambling. He said if you have sufficient money to take care of your needs that you won't think of gambling. He made reference to some rich people, who don't gamble because they have sufficient money to even gift to charity but that those rich who still gamble are only addicted to it not just because of the money. Therefore, that the percentage of the rich gambling is very small compared to those in middle class and lower class.

So my question is, is the percentage of the rich gambling lower than the middle and lower class?
Statistically, The rich don't gamble as much as the poor, but the thing is that they spend more than the poor.

In a sense the guy you got into an argument with is right. Some of the driving reasons why the poor gamble is because they see it as a way for them to earn a quick buck. Why do you think sweepstakes and lotteries are so big on the average person, and why don't you see rich people flocking on these lotto outlets to save a ticket and wait for a draw? It's because they knew it's a money trap, and at the same time they know better than to think of gambling as a way for you to earn profits consistently. To them, gambling is more of an entertainment, and even though they spend more than poor people, the catharsis it brings and the fact that they can earn it back anyway is what sets them apart from the poor.
1158  Economy / Economics / Re: Always ask for POD form from your bank on: July 20, 2023, 11:29:04 PM
I though it right to share this with the forum as I think this will save some persons from a whole lot of drama and stress in case of a deceased.
I got to find out about a POD form which simply means  PAYABLE ON DEATH  from a friend yesterday  after his father  passed on, leaving them with some reasonable  sum of money in the bank and upon check, the father already has a POD form which saved them from the stress of getting a lawyer and all the legal processes to claim the money but rather all they had to do was get a death certificate, take it to the bank along with the POD form and the money will be issued.

I felt this was very important because I know how much effort and money it took us to get access to my late fathers money in the bank after he passed on.

I think everyone needs to get this form especially  if you have any holdings in the bank.

N/B: no one is dying anytime soon but death is inevitable.
Real smart and thanks for the tip. This is just some of the things that most people miss out on or are not aware is something that's already existing so they never bother to ask, and for the most part they thought that the tedious process is the only way around the system. While I see this being very helpful for people who are so indignant with choosing banks over bitcoin, this just goes to show how powerful bitcoin is in the right hands and when used correctly. Saves the people from all the legal troubles of claiming their parent's money that's saved from the bank after they pass on provided that their parents gave them the key and all that.

in any case, I hope this reaches more people so at the very least people don't get duped by the bank over their own money.
1159  Economy / Economics / Re: Can your passion lead to an increase in your net worth? on: July 20, 2023, 10:55:41 PM
Yes. For the most part, business people and entrepreneurs turned to their passions for inspirations in starting their own businesses. One business tycoon here in the Philippines started from being a measly shoe-repairman to owning one of the biggest franchises of malls in the whole world. And it's not just enclosed to businesses too, as many people monetized their hobbies, passions, and interests. YouTubers who are hobbyists for instance turned to content creation for a wider array of audience and profit potential, people who were fascinated with gaming could go to the pro scene and earn money plus acclaim. If you're passionate enough and you have the drive, the possibilities for money will be endless. You just gotta take that leap of faith sometimes.
1160  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why is Gamble gaining more fans than Bitcoin? on: July 20, 2023, 10:32:08 PM
You're pitting something that's been here since we learned how to count and use money, against a currency that's only been here for more than a decade. From there you'd realize the disparity between the two. Plus, Gambling is a staple house term that is known by everyone no matter the nationality. Bitcoin is just on its way of being one, you go inside your house and tell your mom that you want to gamble, see how her face contorts in dismay lmao, now tell her that you want to buy bitcoin, and watch how she reacts. Nine times out of ten she'd ask you what the hell's a bitcoin and that alone is the reason why gambling has more audience than bitcoin. You're basically comparing apples and oranges out here brother.
