821  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Big capital, small risk or small capital big risk - which is best approach? on: September 12, 2023, 09:25:08 PM
When I gamble, I don't really look for how much my bankroll is cause for the most part it's already either accounted for, or budgeted nicely. In that regard, For the hell of it and the thrill I suppose I can pick having a small capital with big risks over big capitals with lesser risks since I find high-stakes games more enjoyable than monotonous linear ones. To me who personally mastered the art of gambling responsibly, I could easily stop and control myself soon as I lose my bankroll, and if in the unfortunate event that I do lose my bankroll I think I'll just wing it and move on. But the fact that I could get more out of my small bankroll with the caveat (which is not that really much of a caveat anyway) of having a larger risk percentage is what really keeps me going.
822  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Owner of 8K bitcoin lost in landfill threatens to bankrupt local council on: September 11, 2023, 05:55:18 PM
Bro is Sisyphus but in reverse lol. He knows deep in his heart of hearts that the ordeal was an impossible one, and even if he were able to claim the hard drive, it doesn't really mean anything since for sure the data is already corrupted from all the rust and stuff that it must've collected over the years. It's honestly just depressing at this point to receive updates from him since he's basically what we don't want to be—Someone who's stuck up on his past, so much that he's making stupid and belligerent acts in the name of bitcoin.

He could've worked his way out of 8000 bitcoins with the time that he's had since 2016, what is he doing instead? Spend unnecessary amount of money over fruitless work.
823  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My Preparations for BTC Halving and bull market on: September 11, 2023, 05:44:54 PM
The biggest misconception about the bitcoin halving is that it's automatically going to ensue a bull run. The rewards being cut down in half as well as the discoverable supply is good and all that but taking 2020 for example, it's not necessarily enough to put bitcoin at a much better spot.

There are a lot of things at play that would cause bitcoin to increase in value besides the halving, if you'll ask me it's the least of the things that could really affect the people's disposition towards bitcoin. Let's hope a chain reaction happens or something, much like what happened during the best halving as of yet to put us in a more secure situation, otherwise I guess let's just work with what we have lol.
824  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We Are To Turn Bitcoin into a Global payment Network - Former PayPal President on: September 11, 2023, 05:33:51 PM
Bitcoin is already a global payment system, what are they trying to do differently here?

I don't think anyone who's a CEO of a (let's at least give it to them) successful but clearly inferior and outdated payment system's got anything valuable to impart over a cryptocurrency who has proven itself time and time again to be a better payment and remittance system than even the digital payment processing systems we got at the moment in the fiat side of the planet. He needs to chill lol. Bitcoin is in its own lane and it's already one thing to pull it into the paypal which arguably didn't really sit well with both avid paypal users as well as bitcoin users since they don't really employ the blockchain technology in the equation but instead is offering what could only be described as "a stablecoin pegged to bitcoin", saying useless stuff like this isn't going to push people back to their sides lol.
825  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Government vs Bitcoin on: September 11, 2023, 05:21:57 PM
I think the main reason is Cryptocurrencies can be used to hide assets and income, making it challenging for governments to collect taxes. This could potentially reduce government revenue, which they rely on for public services and infrastructure.
you have a point but that's not necessarily the reason why the governments around the planet aren't so keen about accepting bitcoin and cryptocurrencies for that matter. It's the fact that most of them are decentralized and to them "unruly" that really grinds the government's gears. They can't control the currency even if their whole lives/systems depended on it, so it's either they allow bitcoin to operate within the country willy-nilly, or they ban it so they don't have to deal with the legal repercussions if bitcoin was used for anything than what it was initially intended for.

Anywho, it's always going to be the people who will decide whether bitcoin is to remain operational or not, some countries may ban bitcoin outright without asking the public's opinion but democracy is a thing in almost every country, and unless everyone unanimously agreed that bitcoin's no good, we can rest assured that it will persist and exist.
826  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hope is all I have left on: September 11, 2023, 05:10:15 PM
Dollar-costing bitcoin doesn't have to be very hard for you. One of the greatest things about this strategy is the fact that you can tailor-fit it to your needs and current state. If you couldn't do so much as to invest a dollar in regular intervals I'd say it's either too impossible since who doesn't got that extra dollar lying around that they can save until their next DCA interval? but that's a little harsh and not really sympathetic of what your true situation could really be, so let me just say that you might want to once again tailor-fit your DCA strat to whatever you can do. I kid you not when I say that even a dollar every month is something, since it still sets you up for success come the bull run season. It's all just about the proper mindset and the plan to pair it with. Don't lose hope and don't lose vision my friend.
827  Economy / Economics / Re: Economics 101. Stagflation. on: September 11, 2023, 04:53:54 PM
Pretty counterintuitive if you ask me but it definitely happens.

In commerce I think this happens the most when a newly-introduced product in the market was so groundbreaking it's making other older variants of the same product useless. Since nobody's using these products anymore let alone buying them, the supply is flooded with newly-produced products that are not accounted for especially when the market change was so sudden everyone was blindsided. This increase in price along with the lessening interest of the people for this particular product, contribute to a stagnating/deflating value of the product in question.

It would've been really nice if everything's just deflationary in value and in nature yeah? But that wouldn't really sit well with the laws of physics as well as the law of supply and demand, so we're stuck here creating mental gymnastics over concepts that don't make sense at first glance but are a great factor for why our whole economy's collapsing lol.
828  Economy / Economics / Re: On Apple's $200 billion dump and US shooting itself in the foot on: September 10, 2023, 11:50:14 PM
Point taken. In my opinion the US has been very complacent over the years, power drunk from the fact that no other country in the past was able to keep up with it despite the predictions that China could outgrow it in the future. This led them to sanction and dismiss every other "third world country" beyond the US borders as something inferior to them, which definitely struck them back with overwhelming force. Japan has done this to them in the past with the monopoly of Japanese tech products taking over the US consumer base, they weren't able to understand and look introspectively into this for some reason and now they are suffering the consequences, and right during one of their worst economic situations yet too. It's time that we see another Superpower to the table. maybe give the US a reality check that capitalism doesn't breed competition anymore, it's breeding oligarchy and the death of commerce.
829  Economy / Economics / Re: What did elon do wrong in Twitter on: September 10, 2023, 11:32:04 PM
A lot. As many people have already mentioned, Elon Musk was kind of forced into buying twitter, he initially joked about it, which the whole executive board of twitter, dying as they know the platform is, called him out upon and made him buy the site.

Twitter is already dying even before Elon came in, he just made it more apparent and even forced people into paying for a dying and bleeding platform just so he can cut back on his losses. Twitter blue that was supposed to not even be paid and only exclusive to people who are recognized worldwide suddenly became easily accessible leading to chaos and panic ensuing, a couple of other shenanigans like actually changing Twitter to X all because of a shtick he couldn't let go ever since his early days at paypal, and a lot more that I just can't list cause it's going to take us a whole day to finish.

Elon Musk may not have killed Twitter, but he's going to be the catalyst to its end. There's just no better alternative to it as of this moment cause Threads is basically useless and Mastodon is more on the crypto side of the spectrum which is not necessarily something that sits well with all people, but soon as one comes up it's going to be over for the blue bird or in this case, the black X.
830  Economy / Economics / Re: Why are stable coins free from SEC ? on: September 10, 2023, 10:48:07 PM
In a sense they are backed by fiat, which at the same time are currencies they are able to control. For that matter, since they can regulate the parent currency and pretty much control the stable coin they can basically control the stablecoin, which means they don't need to ban it for that matter. At the end of the day, stablecoins besides supporting the staking community of the cryptocurrency world and at the same time those p2p peeps, they don't hold that much bearing after all. What we should be worried about is the fact that they are not allowing altcoins to flourish which is arguably more important than stablecoins itself. If this keeps up this will literally kill cryptocurrencies in the US, regardless if bitcoin is allowed in it or not.
831  Economy / Economics / Re: Building wealth it's not just one time Luck on: September 10, 2023, 10:26:27 PM
Had a friend who experienced an identity crisis last year after one of the worst bear runs in the market. He didn't particularly suffer from it as he was prudent enough to make sure that his assets and wealth is safe, but at the same time being someone who's a visionary in the industry, continuously dishing out content for a time which went successful but all of a sudden experienced one of the worst droughts on both the creative and the audience department. He experienced one of the worst imposter syndrome episodes of his life. But what he failed to realize was that, prior to this he lost everything too, he won big in the 2016 bull run, lost it all, and then came back up and went stronger than ever before come the second bull run. That's something that even luck couldn't have accounted for.
832  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do we benefit in lies in forum on: September 10, 2023, 09:57:10 PM
Merit fishing primarily. These people spin "vaguely-relatable" stories and narratives that they make out to be either an experience of theirs or an experience of someone in their circle. While it's not inherently bad since after all, they impart really nice stories for one and at the same time they're not really spreading "misinformation" since most of the stories they spin are either cautionary tales or informative and descriptive, it's still lies being said and I get why you'd be upset about it. Anywho, let's just wing it for now, no one's meriting these people anyway lol, and the mods are great at cracking down posts that are not that contributive to the whole narrative of the forum. So let them have it for now, the forum needs a couple court jesters anyway lol (no offense to these people)
833  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How does an online Foodbetting site sound? on: September 08, 2023, 10:17:16 PM
The most remote idea I have of a food betting is betting on who's getting crossed out on cooking shows or who's going to win.

How does foodbetting work anyway? it's not everyday that there's a competitive eating competition running amuck, let alone a site that promotes competitive eating in the first place. It's also worth noting that this is a niche gambling derivative that not a lot of people are really into. So it's not like it's going to blow up on the mainstream. While the idea is great in my opinion and it could have potential if foodbetting branches out to more than just competitive eating, stagnating it to a single game to bet on is not going to be helpful in making sure that the whole concept flourishes.
834  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: DCA'ing isnt a bad strategy on: September 08, 2023, 09:40:05 PM
Whoever thought it was a bad strategy anyway?

If you can't DCA, it's not the strategy's fault, DCA requires you to have a dedicated budget that would go towards the regular purchase interval of assets, if you weren't able to perform this it's not necessarily the strategy's fault. Perhaps look for a different strategy for investment that would fit you better? DCA as I said earlier may sometimes ask you for money that goes above your means, if this isn't something that you can reliably perform then might as well just look for conventional investment, or budgeting dynamics that would open you to better investment ventures. Otherwise, look at ways to increase your income propensity too, that could work!
835  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Still not a safe practice even if it works on: September 07, 2023, 11:15:33 PM
I don't use VPNs for stuff like that. It's just counterintuitive especially when it comes to dealing with centralized crypto casinos like stake, they'd literally ask you for identification including a proof of residency, there's no point in "using a VPN to throw them off" when your static IP stays the same all throughout. I'm not saying you should stop using VPNs altogether, as they work really well if you're looking for content that is region blocked like movies on netflix and whatnot, but beyond that? I don't see any good reason really.

For one it just slows your internet connection down since now it has to be rerouted into a proxy server before you could do your normal google searching, on the other hand it's a massive hassle to work with even if it just takes "one click".
For people tht have high urge for gambling, it might be very difficult for them to comply to some certain rules even though there region is restricted from using a particular gambling site. If they are enjoying some benefits from the site especially there favorite games and good winnings, they would have to look for other means like using VPN to make sure that they keep enjoying the benefits they had been having since. It is very hard for some people to leave an be old gambling platform they had been using for a long time for another one. Some persons don't easily adapt.
But if you're using VPNs to gain special advantages like let's say region-blocked games and content, aren't that grounds for getting banned since you're gaming the system to provide you with content that is otherwise not supposed to be available to you? I get it, sometimes it's just better to have moore stuff around and all that but using VPNs to evade blockings will just do you more harm than good. Since now, and especially if the gambling site you're playing with is not supportive of this you gotta make sure that they don't catch you using VPNs otherwise you would get banned.

And if you're going to say that using VPNs are for people whose countries they live in have banned gambling, I'm just gonna ask you this: Is gambling worth risking prison time?
836  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Give Him a loan Or Partner With Him on: September 07, 2023, 10:23:11 PM
@everyone I think it's a good point just give him what you can afford to give or better have a group session so all our friends will give what they can afford to give, I don't think he can find work with his condition he is a diabetic and he has his left foot amputated and he is in maintenance his gambling might have an impact on his health, but if ever he still good in betting I will encourage him if he recovers his fortune to just maintain a variety store, there's too much stress in gambling for someone like him with a lingering illness.

We will have a chat tomorrow morning.
Exactly what I had initially proposed. You don't help him through giving him the money to gamble, you help him with whatever you can give/impart to ease up his illness and then by then, help him get a more stable source of income cause when you're betting and all that, there's no clear reliable way for you to really earn, no matter how good you are at it. He already lost his fortune, which makes me think that either he's uninsured or he's bad at financing, which will only become a recurring issue even if he does get his fortune back.

Teach a man how to fish as they say. but in your friend's case, you gotta give him the fish too.
837  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Betting Features on any Banking or Financial apps should be Removed on: September 07, 2023, 09:58:10 PM
Though obscure, a banking app in the Philippines also follow the same thing. They pretty much promote an otherwise licensed casino on their site through ads and vouchers you gain from purchasing or transacting with the app. And while it's not my cup of tea, I don't think it's that debilitating that they have to remove it entirely. For the most part, you already have a clear agenda in mind when you open your banking app, either through paying bills, withdrawal, whatever is the case for you, so it's not like these tabs, ads, or voucher's that effective at diverting your attention from your goals. it's a little something they leave out if you just wish to gamble or whatever, I don't think they should remove it or whatever since after all it would only cater to those who gamble anyway.
838  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tips on How to Stay Safe and Avoid Scams When Gambling Online on: September 07, 2023, 09:29:19 PM
A lot of people join new casino and sportsbook platforms only for the bonuses they offer to new gamblers without realizing that it can actually be a trap. I don't say that all new platforms are untrustworthy, but it is always better to be cautious when joining a new platform, and as you said, if a platform asks for KYC verification that you recently joined and which isn't a very old platform, you should think twice or maybe more than that before you submit your personal information and documents.

This is the reason why it is better to simply stick with the old or trustworthy casino and sportsbook platforms so that you don't have to be worried about getting scammed or your personal details and documents being used for gaining money or maybe even in bad things which might cause you trouble.
Exactly. There's always the risk of crossing with a site that you shouldn't have cause they are a blatant scam ripoff that'll steal your money and quite possibly your information too, when it comes to playing with obscure casinos as well as those that are just starting. Always a rule of thumb of mine cause you can't really trust even those "old gambling sites" as you put it is to just play with casinos that are in this forum. That way push comes to shove we can contact them and possibly provide feedback as well should things go awry and we did get scammed.

Just like what happened with Betnomi, that site's one of the most trusted ones out here but out of nowhere they left with the players' money. People were informed of it right away and contingencies were set to provide some form of recompense to the users affected. You won't be able to do that with any other site mind you.
839  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling by financial dependents. on: September 07, 2023, 09:02:59 PM
In reality I have seen and heard of many of this stories and in Africa parents and elderly ones see gambling as a taboo, it is a thing of forbidden to them. But for the younger ones, if it is for their pleasure and leisure time. Since her son your nephew is not stealing from her and he is not disturbing her for money to gamble and he uses his own hard earned money, then she should allow the young man to have his fun with games. She doesn't know where the son will be blessed either from the gambling or not.

Some children steal from their parents to go and gamble and that is the experienced the mother got from other family to caution her son but all children are not the same.there are some children are very much discipline to themselves. The child age is more than the to gamble and he can control his instinct so let her allow him to be.
yeah but it's still a cause for concern. Just cause he's not stealing money today doesn't mean that when things go unchecked and the son becomes addicted to gambling. I've seen many a stories of these kids going crazy in gambling and acting upon desperate impulses to get their fix. Some even resort to violence. I say she should let the kid to his own devices and allow him to gamble, but conduct a strict regiment that he'd have to follow if he wants to remain within the house, it's all for the better anyway since at the end of the day, you're making sure that the kid is not getting addicted, and at the same time this instills discipline upon himself without the notion that you're controlling his life or whatever since after all you're still allowing him to gamble.
840  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you cheat in gambling? on: September 06, 2023, 10:35:22 PM
I constantly say that cheating even when everyone doesn't seem very intelligent or even isn't very intelligent to the point that they don't understand anything about medicines to increase physical strength or don't have much coding skills, cheating is still very dangerous. It is unacceptable and one day people will discover you and they will hate you, in the history of cryptocurrencies I have seen many cases of cheating in which the cheating person has won a lot of money, I have not seen any news saying that they caught and punished the person who cheated and managed to get a lot of money, but in my opinion these people who cheat one day in the real world will use cheating to get something and at that time they will be caught and punished

Why do I think this way? because cheating becomes an addiction, when a person gets used to cheating, even when it comes to doing something simple, they will resort to cheating because that person is already used to the fact that everything in their life must have a faster and simpler path. and because of this way of people and that this person even when faced with a task that is easy for them, but which takes 30 minutes to complete, this person will use cheating to complete this task in 5 minutes and with that this person risks being caught and punished and in most cases caught and punished. we just need to see cases of sports athletes who use cheating as they end up
Bro you don't have to overthink it. The premise is that you're going to be given the chance to cheat on a game with 100 percent certainty of winning without any caveats. None of this "If I get caught people might hate me" bs since you're not going to get caught anyway at least according to the situation that the OP presented. Question should just challenge your moral values, and if whether you'd be able to commit to do the right thing, which in this case is to not cheat despite not getting caught.

Cheating could be an addiction but that's only granted that you could do it over and over again, if you're not given that liberty you wouldn't be able to have the chance to even be addicted to it. Suppose that OP said you'd be able to only do this once and never again, would your answer change?
