1541  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTS] Older Motherboards, cpus and ram on: October 13, 2012, 08:48:22 PM
1 x GA-8Ik1100 comes with a cpu, no clue what it is, other than it would fit a Socket 478 motherboard.

1 x GA-8I925x-g comes with a cpu and heatsink.  Once again no idea what processor is in it.   (Sold)

2 x 512 PC3200 RAM (Sold)

Just had these laying in my shop.  They were out of old PCs I built.  All parts were working when I removed them.

Make me an offer!

I softmodded it when I first got it.  Worked great for about 6 months.  But red ring of deathed, and haven't used it since.  That's been probably 2 years ago, its just been sitting on my shelf.  Probably completely fixable, just lost interest, and never bothered.  I don't have any cables for it (Friend needed those and I gave them to him.)  It just comes as is, no guarantees.

Make me an offer.
1543  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Buyers who renege on deals? on: October 13, 2012, 06:43:04 AM
*Shameless plug* You could always leave them feedback at bitcoinfeedback.com...

But personally, I equate backing down on one's word with scamming.  Maybe not quite as bad, but they still get a negative feedback from me if they do it.

As long as there was an acceptance, I agree with you.  Offer + Acceptance + Consideration = Binding Contract.

There are massive legal fights all the time over whether something was really an offer or whether something was really an acceptance.

Today we still mostly rely on theories based on several hundred year old common law to make these determinations.  So it isn't always easy to know if something is an offer or if something is an acceptance, but when there is, there is a contract, and should be treated as such.

I just PMed you.

I know what you mean about not wanting to get ripped off. I understand completely. But you I'm afraid you are incorrect - family's poor too, friend thing is not an option, people around here are to shifty.

Still open to potential donors. You never know, maybe you'll double it up. It doesn't have to be 1.50, I just threw that out there for the sake of even numbers. I actually only need 1.3165, but whatever

Peace

So what your saying is you need 1.3165 but you can't tell us what these coins will be used for, also don't you have ID or something like that you can scan and post to the forum so we know your a college student and not some 40 yr trying to scam.

I don't know, be careful.  I still have my college ID in my wallet and I graduated 10 years ago lol.   Grin
1546  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: (Very) small investment opportunity - check it out on: October 12, 2012, 10:16:59 PM
You're right, how DO I afford to eat? Not easily, I can tell you that. I don't think I really conveyed what I meant by "broke college student." Some of us don't come into the world with everything, some of us have to scrape change from under the car seat to get by.

You're not helping me by telling me what an idiot I am. I'm just looking for a selfless person to help me get the ball rolling with my endeavours.

I just figure SOMEONE out there will say, "hey, instead of dropping this BTC on a round of satoshi dice, why not give it to this guy?"

And there are actually people out there that are willing to invest with individuals on adventures.  The problem you are running in to is severalfold.  A few I can think of immediately off the top of my head are:

1) You won't say what the BTC will be used for;
2) You have no reputation here, much less a post record here; and
3) You don't have any alternative means to pay back the funds if whatever your idea is fails.

I hope it works out for you, but I just don't see it happening with these issues.

1547  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: (Very) small investment opportunity - check it out on: October 12, 2012, 09:02:03 PM
Hey guys, I hope all is well.

So I've been plotting for a while now and I've come up with what I feel is a fairly solid plan to make a few bitcoins. Although I know that most of you are trustworthy, I do not feel comfortable disclosing the details at this time, as anyone could read this and take my ideas. I will tell you that it does not involve gambling or any illegal activity, just to be sure.

Here's the deal: I am a broke college student and I really don't have the extra cash to purchase some BTC. In order to get started, I'm looking for one generous person to donate/invest the amount of 1.5 BTC to my cause. I am only accepting this from one person. You can check the blockchain to see if I have already received it, and I will post here as soon as I do. If I receive coins from anyone else I will promptly return them to the sender.

If I succeed, which I am quite confident I will, the investor will be awarded 3.00 BTC, maybe more depending on how successful I am. If I fail, well, then sadly you are just out 1.5 BTC; however, I will TRY to eventually pay you back in the event that things go sour, but I cannot say how long that will be. That being said, feel free to donate as much as you like if you're really in a giving mood, but I can't promise you a full return on your investment. Anything I do not spend will be returned though. Let me make it clear that I am not looking for a loan. I just need one gracious person with some extra BTC lying around to help me out.

How do you know that I'm not just some POS scammer? Well, you don't. All I can do is give you my word that I will fulfill my end of the bargain. Bear in mind the rather small amount that I am requesting. If I was trying to rip you guys off, I'd be asking for more and I'd come up with some elaborate scheme to try and convince you.

So please, please consider giving me a hand. Not to sound corny, but I would be forever grateful  Cool

Best regards,
Jeff

So you aren't going to tell us what you are going to use it for?

I wish you luck, but I don't see it happening.  Especially on your first post.
1548  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: pirate payments list -- accounts paid: 23/459 on: October 12, 2012, 08:56:53 PM
People still holding their breath for Pirate to repay?

It will happen when we will have a sort of Bitcoin-Batman committed to extrajudicially punish the scammers and recover the booty.
Maybe it's time to collect a bounty for such kind of super-hero, or we could agree to pay him a nice cut of what he recovers.

Wow I'm glad there's no nipples on that batman's epic pec armor lol.

I just saw your post and your name.

Just for the record, would like to point out, that we are not the same person.  lol

Good luck on selling the rest of your stuff though! Smiley
1551  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 3 Mining rigs on: October 12, 2012, 08:40:49 PM
Would you be willing to partially finance (with a down payment) one or more of these rigs over a month or so, if I paid asking price?

I'm starting to mine litecoins.  My wife has put her foot down, on me spending any more of "our money" on "my toys" lol.

1553  Economy / Speculation / Re: Thoughts on mid term gain Litecoin v. Bitcoin on: October 10, 2012, 06:55:29 PM
Litecoins will eventually die.  Namecoin is much better than Litecoin.

Any logic or reasoning behind this thought?

No, not really.  Just my gut.  Maybe I'm wrong.

Well dang.  I was hoping you had some insight that I haven't seen before.  Right now I tend to buy into the line of thinking that BTC = Gold, and LTC = Silver.

Would it be more profitable to keep funds in Bitcoins or Litecoins?  The past couple of weeks have looked very bullish for Litecoins.

Today we changed Minimal threshold for automatic payouts for LTC (10), PPC (10) and LQC (1).

I was wondering why I was building up an unpaid confirmed balance Smiley

Forget about the deflationary trait of Bitcoin. Howabout a fair day's pay for a day's hard work? No more free money for the elite banker class and their cronies on Wall Street and the Military Industrial Complex.

1559  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many bitcoins do you have? on: October 03, 2012, 08:46:56 PM
It's just like everything else, more than 90% of the wealth is held by less than 10% of the people (and I'm in the wrong 10%).
Ah, but as more people use bitcoin they will be spread thinner.  Someday, perhaps, the standard unit will be a Satoshi instead of a bitcoin.  Perhaps pizza will cost 5,000 Satoshi, and the average person will hold about 1,000,000 Satoshi (about 0.01 BTC).  When there are that many people using it and it is spread that thin (assuming that you haven't lost/spent the BTC that you have right now), you will be in the top 10% and will have significant wealth.  You just have to wait for bitcoin to gain enough popularity ;-)

That's an interesting thought.  At what point in the life cycle (in other words market price) of Bitcoin does the Satoshi or for that matter the mbit become the standard?  Average Joe Blow out there doesn't like dealing with numbers that have more than two decimal points.
1560  Economy / Goods / Re: Oddest item sold for BTC on: October 02, 2012, 04:13:16 AM
I actually tried to buy human blood on #bitcoin-otc after the Silk Road launched (just to see, if it would be possible to buy anything with BTC), but I couldn't find someone with a reasonable price back then....

How much you need? I have a gallon or 2 available in a few different bags, they can go cheap because the labels do not indicate what blood type is in the bag.

 Huh Huh Huh
