1101  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [NEW CURRENCY] Maria 2.0 was banned, here is her proof. The birth of Bytecoin! on: April 04, 2013, 04:49:35 AM
While coinotron is down, I'm taking a break from mining LTC so wanted to give Bytecoin a try.  All I am getting is HW errors though. Invalid nonce.  I'm mining it just like I would bitcoin.
cgminer config is: cgminer -o http://127.0.0.1:9332 -u username -p password -I 8

suggestions?
1102  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTB] 5830s, 5850s, and 5870s on: April 01, 2013, 08:19:51 PM
Looking for quite a few of these.

Please let me know what you've got and how much you're looking for.  Would like to move quickly so they can be shipped quickly.
1103  Bitcoin / Mining support / Can't detect more than 2 GPUS on: March 30, 2013, 11:26:16 PM
Attempting to setup a new rig on an ASROCK am2xli-esata2 motherboard.

I have two of these motherboards, and they both are giving me the same issue, so I don't believe it is a faulty mobo issue.

I know all the other hardware works fine as I am simply swapping this motherboard for another one.

This is a weird mobo.  I set the jumpers to allow me to run both 16x slots at 8x/8x.

PCI-E (3) which is a PCI-E x1 slot works fine. PCI-E (4) which is a PCI-E x16 slot works fine.

But I can't get PCI-e (1) or (2) to detect cards. Same prob on both mobos.

I've tried a dummy plug.

Any other suggestions?  Is there a bios setting I'm missing?

1104  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best litecoin mining rig? on: March 29, 2013, 05:16:52 AM
Looking to start mining LTC, anyone got referrals?

The one you already have - it's not worth buying new gear.  The difficulty will only go up from here and it's already just barely profitable.  Money better spent buying LTC while they're under $1

This disastrously horrible advice has been given for years now.  If you look back through the forum, people have been saying this since atleast 2011.

Listen to Taco.

why not split your existing pci-e plugs?

its better to supply power from 3 12v wires and 3 ground vs 1 12v and 2 grounds with molex/sata. otherwise you'll melt your cables. I powered two gigabyte 5850s on a molex line, this is what happened.

I do that with some of them.  But I've got a couple of damn multi rail PSUs that require me to connect atleast one card each to a molex rail and a sata rail in order to balance the load.

1106  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB] PCI-E Extender Cables on: March 26, 2013, 03:37:53 AM
http://cablesaurus.com/ has some of this kind of stuff, and takes BTC.

Thanks, I've been there though.  $12.50-$17.50 for one of these extenders is a little pricey though.
1107  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTB] PCI-E Extender Cables on: March 26, 2013, 02:49:04 AM
I need:
(2) PCI-E 16x->16x
(3) PCI-E 1x->1x

Give me a price shipped in the US.

I also am still looking for GPUs (5850s, 5870s specifically) and PSUs (950w or better).

Also interested in Molex or SATA -> PCI-E power adapters
1108  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Feedback Wanted] The Most Unique and Precious Alt Coin, based on Time. on: March 23, 2013, 04:17:10 AM
"Once-In-A-Lifetime chance to buy coins for ~ 1/3 of a USA penny"

Will these be pre-mined? If so, how many?

Will we be able to mine them like other cryptocurrencies?

This is the part I'm mostly curious about as well.  Where many altcoins have failed has been due to a disastrous pre-mining period that drew a great deal of backlash.

And I'll ask the question again, how is it mined?

I'm always interested in new alt currencies.
1109  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [WTB] BQC For BTC, preferring +50k units on: March 23, 2013, 03:16:24 AM
Would we be able to get kumala to chime in here maybe we could get bqc on Vircurex?

I'd like to see both BQC & FRC added to Vircurex.

The site seem to be under DDoS now, so as the pool  Undecided

You're right.  Site is very sluggish and pretty inaccessible in general.  Mining has come to a grinding halt just about.  Some cowardly criminal just trying to cause problems.

I was hoping the new DDOS protection would help with this.

Apparently it didn't D: I'm just hoping I can get my accumulated coins outta there ASAP. lol

Site seems to be back acting normally again.  Maybe it was just a temporary hiccup.  Who knows....

1112  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: FRC exchange! on: March 22, 2013, 01:50:00 AM
I'm mining FRC as hard as possible right now.  I believe once that new exchange opens up, and FRC will be on there, which will be a very high volume exchange in my opinion, I can't see the value doing anything but going up.

Me too I'm mining as much as I can, your rate is impressive!  I'm 'only' mining at half your rate, or about 4.3K FRC/day Smiley  I think I'll just hold too.  But on the subject of FRC exchange, what about that 'new exchange' your talking about?

I can't remember the name on here of the guy that's opening it, but he's pretty much said he plans to welcome most alt-coins to that exchange.  https://www.crypto-trade.com/  According to the website (which I think is down right at this moment), it is going to open on April 2nd.  He's had a demo site up that looks absolutely great.  I'm really looking forward to it.

I'm not saying that you have to like it.
Yep, but what I'm saying it's a question of simple math, right? Every court will accept that 2+2=4.

You're being intentionally dense.  And therefore, I'm done replying to you on this issue.
1115  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Let`s file a lawsuit against Butterfly Labs on: March 21, 2013, 08:57:10 PM
You would receive a windfall profit otherwise, and the courts despise giving a plaintiff more than they lost.
LOL... How would I receive a windfall profit by paying BTC100 to BFL and getting a refund for BTC100? You must be joking.

Not joking.  Simple math.

Yeah, it's very simple indeed. Read about it:

I'm not saying that you have to like it.  Tom @ bASIC still owes me money.  I don't like the fact that I'm going to get less in BTC than what I sent him.  I'm just saying that's what in my opinion the law is.

As long as BFL is giving refunds when asked, you will have a tough time proving your damages in court.

You could try to argue that you have "consequential or expectancy" (different courts use the terms interchangeably even though they have different meanings), in that if BFL had delivered when they first said they would you would have made more $ because of the lower difficulty.  That argument would likely fail for a dozen reasons though.

Otherwise you could try to argue that BFL has violated the FTC rules regarding preorders.  But what is that going to get you?  Nominal damages?  (I haven't read the statute to see if the statute defines damages, but I would imagine it doesn't.)  So congratulations.  You just spent tens of thousands of $'s to win $1-$5 in nominal damages.

So I would wait until you have actually been damaged by BFL before filing suit.  A damage the court would recognize would be if they refused to give you a refund after asking for one.  And this would be easy to prove as well.

(I didn't completely read OP before posting this)  So after doing so, here's an addendum:

The court is going to laugh you out of the courtroom if you try to argue that you should have received the same amount of BTC in your refund that you sent in.  There are numerous cases dealing with the stock market and currency fluctuations that reject that argument.  You are entitled to the same "value" denominated in USD that you sent in.  You would receive a windfall profit otherwise, and the courts despise giving a plaintiff more than they lost.

Bah I just bought a little point and shoot camera couple of weeks ago.  If I was still in the market for one, I would be all over this.  Good camera.
1119  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BBQCoin, the coin you want to eat. on: March 20, 2013, 03:17:05 AM
Anyone thought about a rebranding of this coin?  Maybe change the name to something a little less "jokey"?  Maybe have a new re-announcement?

It's lovely how unofficial it sounds. I wouldn't change the name in order to hold on to the (sometimes difficult, but heroic) past of this coin. There is a new development kicking in and some changes are to be announced in 4 to 6 weeks  Wink

Playing aside, this coin is still kicking and seems to have attracted some new people in to it in the recent month or so. If that multicurrency exchance gets up and does accept BQC we'll most likely see a boost in here also.

I'd love to see more people mining this coin and it take off.  Getting it on the new exchange seems like a great way to go about doing that.  It would definitely bring about more attention for the coin.  (Perhaps not all positive attention?)
