1205  Other / Off-topic / Re: Confrontation with a scammer... on: January 11, 2013, 06:30:32 AM
That's pretty funny. I've actually had the exact same experience, but it was a woman saying her purse was stolen and she needed more gas to drive another 50 miles. At the same gas station, about 2 months apart. Kudos to you for calling him out in front of the other guy.

I've had the gas story several times.  I don't carry cash on me (not even $1), so never even have to make the evaluation on whether they are telling the truth or not.  Now if she were smoking hot, and needed a lift, I might feel obliged to help out that way Wink

Good trade with dego.  Now selling 30k FRC @ .3 BTC per 1k.

Ill take em

30k sold to jjimm_64.  Great trade.

yes..  interestingly, even tho 3 10k's were all in block 14588, only 2 confirmed in the next block..

Never seen that before.  Wonder what would cause that.  Possible I sent it at the exact same moment the block was found?  I'll be interested to see if it gets 1 confirm, while the other two transfers get 2 confirm in the next block.

Edit:  Yep that's what happened.  2, 2, 1 confirmations for the three transactions on the next block.

I think you are confused.

1 confirm = "Included in a block"
2 confirms = a block found after the block the tx was included in.
3 confirms = 2 blocks found after the block the tx was included in.
....
n confirms = n-1 blocks found after the block the the tx was included in.

jtimon had it right.  I didn't double check what jjimm_64 said, and just assumed they were in the same block. He was looking at the "reference block" instead of the block in which the transactions were included in.  And then I just explained my thoughts poorly in the followup post lol.

1211  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A foundation with 80% of the coins can never work. on: January 06, 2013, 06:08:38 AM
Taxes are percentages of someones income, a business profits, or a percentage of a sale.  Foundation funds come from non of these sources and are not a Tax, what FRC has is a 20% royalty payed to miners initially vs 100% royalty as other coins have had.  As much as you may not like a lower royalty, that dose not make it a tax as tax is not simply a 4 letter word for 'money I am not getting'.

We are still looking for constructive input on the creation of bylaws for the foundation which will specify exactly how and how NOT to distribute funds.  We are willing put put the foundation under binding legal obligations because we have good intent and high minded ideals and are intent on showing it in both word and deed.  Come to our forums and contribute to that effort rather then just flaming us here.  If your right that were doomed to be corrupted at least you can say you did everything in your power to prevent it, on the other hand if we live up to high standards that will be a great step forward for distribution of crypto-currency and we will have set a high bar by which to measure others in the future.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not flaming you.   I hope Freicoin succeeds.

1212  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A foundation with 80% of the coins can never work. on: January 06, 2013, 05:38:30 AM
I love the idea of Freicoin, and I don't hate the whole idea of a tax, as long as it is taxation with representation.

Notaek, SodColin has given me consent to release the BTC to you.  Please send me a bitcoin address to do so.
1217  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WTB Computer Hardware with FRC on: January 05, 2013, 01:33:01 AM
Just going to throw this out there to see if anybody is interested.

If so, I will post details and pictures.

I might be willing to sell one of my mining rigs which includes:

3x HD 6950 2GB GPU. All unlocked to 1536 shaders.

1 ECS A885GM-A2 Motherboard - 1 AMD sempron 145 - 1 GB RAM

1 850 Watt single 12v rail power supply with the power adapters needed for the 3 GPUs (Rosewill RX850-s-b XTREME Series)

3x PCI-Express risers (1x to 16x)

1 8 GB USB Flash drive with Ubuntu12.4 basic server installed and everything setup for mining with cgminer. Pretty much plug it in and start mining.

Gets about 1.14 G/H, and has not been fully optimized (1 card has been OC to 875/750(mem), the other two I have not optimized and are running at 840/750(mem)). Plenty of room for tweaking. I could easily see 1.2 GH + for the person who wants to take the time to optimize.

Willing to deal in FRC,PPC,LTC or BTC.

Would prefer to ship in the USA only, but will consider shipping international. However, I will not falsify customs paperwork.

Added: I have been selling computer hardware for years on Ebay. I am listed under hartlandpc if you wish to check my rating.

You have pm.
1218  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [WTS] $15 Visa Debit Gift Card - 1 BTC on: January 05, 2013, 01:21:12 AM
Ok, I was contacted about acting as an escrow agent.

The buyer (SodColin) should send the BTC to this address:  1335dqds7yUuhX8TE39THcM8kmxLaoi3KF

I'll post back in this thread once I receive the BTC.

Then the seller (notaek) can transfer the Visa Debit Gift Card information to the buyer.

Once I have received confirmation that the Visa Debit Gift Card has been received and satisfies the buyer's needs, I will release the BTC to the seller.

If there is a dispute, I'll act as the mediator between the two parties, and my decision will be binding.  (It's only 1 BTC, I certainly hope we can do this without a dispute lol)

The seller has contacted me. Where can we find someone to provide escrow?

I can do it if you like.  Tons of reputable trades here on the forums.
1220  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: FreiCoin (FRC) discussion (was FreiCoin (FRC) for TRC, PPC, LTC or BTC) on: January 04, 2013, 07:25:57 AM
What's the 80% thing?

I'm thinking of it as a tax.  My understanding is that the 80% is placed into a "foundation" in which a group (which has not been established yet, but will likely be made up of the founders of FRC), will decide how and when to spend it.  So far it hasn't been touched, but could be at any time.

I wish it didn't exist, or if it did, was at a much more reasonable level of 10% or less.

Someone will probably eventually fork the coin without it.  There have been several people comment that they were working on it, but whether they actually are or not, who knows.
