I'm not his buddy.  Never talked to the guy.  And I got quite a few coins.

1022  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Feathercoin Slogan on: April 27, 2013, 05:36:02 AM
Thought it would be fun to create a slogan for Feathercoin. Here's one that was developed tonight by a friend and I:

"Feathercoin - so light you won't notice the wait"

Creating a 10 second jingle this week.

Would love to hear some ideas from the community. Please ignore the crypto-hipster snarky comments that are sure to follow. Smiley

That's actually really pretty good.  I like it.

I used to do this fairly regularly but haven't in a few months.  I practice primarily in criminal law, but handle a good amount of civil cases as well.  Preferably keep your questions to criminal law or civil cases such as torts (negligence like personal injury) or contracts.

I accept BTC & LTC equivalent.

1024  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Merged Mining LTC w/other Scrypt on: April 27, 2013, 04:23:55 AM
The reality is that there isnt a 2nd scrypt coin worth mining, PERIOD, even if its mergemined for free, you should NOT support scams like Novacoin and pump-n-dump coins with massive premine like FC.

What else shouldn't I do?

1025  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coinotron Hacked on: April 27, 2013, 03:46:52 AM
Logged into my account today and found the payout address changed and payout threshold changed to 1.  LTC from my account are gone - thankfully they only got about 17 LTC.

I've seen complaints about Coinotron's LTC pool having an unusually high number of rejected shares in the last while.  Not sure if it's related, but I was also getting close to 10% on some of my rigs.  (one was 30%).  Either way, I've switched pools now and am getting less than 1% rejects now.

Anyone else get hacked?  My account credentials couldn't be guessed.  Either I have a keylogger on my system or Coinotron's database got hacked.

If it was coinotron, we probably would have already heard about it by now.  Some big hashing dudes mine there.  I would take immediate steps to secure any coins that you have in wallets on that machine.
1026  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: FeatherCoin - Updated Client - New Logo on: April 27, 2013, 03:43:14 AM
Personally I don't like the new logo any better than the last one. However it's a matter of personal choice and makes no difference in the grand scheme of things, but anyway that's my input.

My logo designer is considering submitting yet another logo if anyone wants it. Smiley

My thought on the whole matter is that it's completely unprofessional to have launched FC when it was launched, if it was a half-finished project.

Actually it's best to release early and often, for peer review.

Quote
Launching a new client update and logo a mere week or so later strengthens the belief of some that this was nothing but a scheme created in an effort to line pockets of a very few people who were "in the know" about the hurried and secret launch. In other words...any credibility that Feathercoin had in the community is now going to be less because of this. It gives the impression that FC was rushed to launch and is nothing but a cash-grab scheme for the developer and his friends.

Same tired disrespectful garbage that comes up over every altcoin.  Nobody is forced to use an altcoin.  If you have any extras you don't want, of any type, I will gladly take them off your hands.

As I've stated before...I couldn't care less! If someone is able to suck some money from the suckers willing to pay it...more power to you! I don't blame anyone for taking advantage of noobs, rubes and boobs that are too stupid to know what they're doing....Hell, that's how all of the wealth in this world is, was and always will be earned!

I have bought and sold altcoins of my own free will and volition.  I am of sound mind.  I consider it disrespectful to call me a noob, rube, boob, or stupid.  It may all be true, but it's still disrespectful!

Your idea of how wealth is earned is completely off.  Wealth is earned by serving people.

Quote
Anyway...my question was, is this client "update" necessary?

If I were the FC developers, I wouldn't waste time answering you after your disrespectful comments above.  You can keep on using the previous client if you want, but since you think it's all a plot to take advantage of people, I suggest you delete any FC clients you have.  They were all given to you for free, after all, at the expense of other people whom you are now insulting.

+1.  Trolls gotta troll I guess.  But it gets old seeing the same garbage spewed every day.  Atleast one comment in nearly every altcoin thread has this.  If it isn't FC, it's in a TRC thread.  If it isn't TRC, it's in a FRC thread.  If it isn't FRC it's NVC.  It wasn't long ago this was all you heard about LTC.

If you don't like altcoins don't read the altcoin forum.
1027  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WTS 50,000 FRC for LTC on: April 27, 2013, 01:26:28 AM
Update:  I'll also take BTC.  Current highest offer is .0008 each (40BTC).  Can anyone beat that?
1028  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: cryptofolio.info - new version released, now with IXC NVC FRC* BTE* FC* on: April 27, 2013, 12:48:10 AM
Not sure if you want to add anymore coins that haven't been added to an exchange yet, but I would like to see BQC (BBQCoins) added.  I have quite a few and would like to be able to show them in my cryptofolio.  BQC is about to be added to a couple of exchanges, so if you don't want to add them yet, I understand.

Otherwise, site is incredibly helpful.  I finally get to quit using my Excel spreadsheet, and get to have the values autoupdate.
1029  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: FeatherCoin Exchange Bounty Claimed on: April 26, 2013, 06:33:59 PM
Traded freicoin at this exchange before.  They went offline almost a week ago and have not been working since.  Would not really be rewarding anything to this site quite yet.

Owner of the site says a problem with the FRC daemon is why he hasn't put FRC back up yet.  He says he has communicated this issue to the devs of FRC, but they haven't fixed the problem yet.

I'd like FRC to come back online there as well, but I don't believe it is the owner's fault as to why it hasn't.
1030  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Who on earth valued feather coin so high on: April 26, 2013, 05:48:02 PM

Belief = to not know. I am not a beliver, I either know something for sure or don't really give a damn about it.

We now have a winner for the most intellectually devoid statement ever made on bitcointalk.org.

Must be sad not to have any curiosity about anything.

I'm glad most of the human race doesn't share this sentiment.  We never would have advanced beyond living in caves.
1031  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [AUCTION] FOR 50,000 (50K) BBQCOINS [BQC] on: April 26, 2013, 05:29:56 PM
Isn't it dead coin?

It has arisen from the ashes.  I suggest getting some while the getting is good.  I have heard from multiple sources as well that it is soon to hit an exchange.  Actually, one of these sources (jasinlee) said he has first hand knowledge of two exchanges setting this coin up behind the scenes right now.
1032  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BBQCoin, the coin you want to eat. on: April 26, 2013, 03:44:47 PM
If I take the number of outstanding blocks and multiply that by 42, I get a little over 16 million BQC that are outstanding.

Does the fact that this chain was attacked early on affect this number?

Just trying to figure out how many coins are probably out there floating around.  In addition, I would imagine a bunch were probably destroyed when most considered this to be dead early on.

1034  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin: 1x to 16x PCI-E extenders, CPU question on: April 26, 2013, 03:15:06 AM
Sounds great... now one more question; do you need powered 1x to 16x risers?
I have a bitcoin rig with 2 unpowered 1x to 16x risers for 5830s and they run fine but I see some people saying you need powered risers.

It depends on how many gpus you are running and what gpus they are really.  I've ran 4 just fine on no powered risers, but then I tried running 5, and melted the mobo.  If 3 or less I would say no.  If 4 then the answer is probably just to be safe.  You might be living dangerously if you don't have atleast one powered riser.  If 5 then I would say it is a requirement.

To clarify; is that 4+ GPUs on unpowered extenders, or 4+ GPUs total?
I was considering doing 4x 7950 on a motherboard with at least 2 16x slots, so I'd only need 2 1x risers.

I was also considering using this board with a Sempron 145: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0055QYKQO/
With that board I wouldn't need to worry about 1x risers

You're probably fine not using any powered risers on that board using 4 GPUS total.

Wait for someone else's confirmation of that though.  I'm running a couple of 4 GPU rigs with no powered risers, and not having any trouble.  I just hate to tell you, you're fine, and then have your mobo melt.

Thanks for the advice everyone!

Do you recommend an AMD or Intel motherboard/CPU?

Also do you think it's a better idea to get a CPU/mobo with integrated graphics, or is it okay to use one of the mining GPUs for video? (this would be a dedicated mining rig... it would just be sitting there with a terminal running cgminer)

Ty again!

I've never used a mobo with integrated graphics for mining, but I have heard quite a few people say that can cause problems.  I use one of the mining GPUs as video when I need it.  There's no problem in doing so.  That card may run just a few degrees hotter than the others on the rig I've noticed though.

I've used both AMD and Intel.  Haven't had an issue with either, so not sure one is better than the other.  It may just be whatever the best deal you can get is.
1037  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin: 1x to 16x PCI-E extenders, CPU question on: April 26, 2013, 02:33:19 AM
no noticeable performance decrease unless your rig is underpowered. no need to worry about the cpu, cheapest is fine, youll be using the gpu.

Yup spend the money on the GPU and the extra 100 for a rock solid PSU. Go with PCpower and cooling, or heck corsair and seasonic.... just because it say 1100w on the sticker dont mean its high quality.

Also, try to make it a single rail PSU.  Not as critical as some people would have you believe, but if it is a multi rail PSU you have to pay attention to how you balance your loads.  I overloaded a rail one time on a multi-rail PSU and the thing died really quick.  Luckily no other hardware was damaged.
1038  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin: 1x to 16x PCI-E extenders, CPU question on: April 26, 2013, 02:29:50 AM
I'm consdering building a litecoin mining rig.  I know that you can use 1x to 16x PCI-E extenders for BTC mining rigs but I also know that LTC is more intensive on GPUs, so I'm wondering if a 1x to 16x extender will decrease perfomance.

Also, do you need a decently powered CPU for a litecoin rig?  Will the cheapest Celeron or cheapest single-core Sempron work?

Any advice is appreciated... thanks!

P.S. Sorry if this is the wrong forum or if these questions are answered elsewhere.  I tried a quick search and didn't find anything.

the 1x to 16x PCI-E extenders work perfectly fine for LTC rigs.  I have numerous rigs running with numerous of those adapters, and no problems.  The cards on 16x -> 16x do not get higher performance than the cards on 1x -> 16x.

Also you only need the cheapest CPU.  (Still go for 64-bit though, in case you're thinking about a really old processor that is only 32-bit).  Other than that the CPU is irrelevant.

You might want to throw in more RAM on a LTC rig than a BTC rig, but if you're using cgminer, that isn't critical either.
1039  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Speculation aside, is there any reason for anyone to adopt an alt-coin? on: April 26, 2013, 02:27:02 AM
Considering the overhead of exchanges, wallets, passwords, clients, miners, payment processors etc.. that must accompany a cryptocurrency, is there any real advantage to current alt-coins that warrants the cost of its adoption?

Why do businesses accept Mastercard if they already accept VISA?  The more payment options the customer has, the more likely they are to frequent your business.
1040  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [WTS] 4100FC for 80 LTC on: April 26, 2013, 02:24:09 AM
Can't you just mine 4100 FC with a 5770 in a day or some shit like that?  Cheesy

A 5770 would take roughly 143 days to mine 4100FC at current difficulty.  Feel free to read the feathercoin information thread.
