I missed the news and some of the price movement, but seems like we got back to $900 in a hurry.  I agree with the suggestion above about a gradual buy in.  The price you saw during the dip you could take and buy in a portion of your funds, and figure to buy more if it moves 15% higher or lower until a point where the market is moving in a way more easily predictable, or you have fully bought back in.
543  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Does BTC need to be over $2,000 in 2014 for mining to be profitable? on: December 09, 2013, 10:19:24 AM
Can anyone new make a profit mining in 2014?

I looked up the specs on the new 3,000 GH/s Neptune from KncMiner and thought that it would make a great purchase. But when you try to work out the ROI, the numbers don't work unless BTC gets somewhere close to $2,000, you get the unit next week or you have solar panels.

$2,000 is possible, but that's a real speculative play given the $1,200 to $750 fall in the past few days.

Which is the way to go?

Might make sense to also see whether you profit more than if you had just bought BTC and sat on them.  It would be hard not to ROI if BTC spikes enough while you are holding your mined BTC and machinery instead of the amount of Bitcoin you could have originally bought with the same amount of money.

New scheme sounds good, I am happy to help advertise.  I think we get a pretty good deal out of this, and a monthly schedule can be more convenient.

Played here recently nice to see the site still up.  I participated in a giveaway here maybe 3 months ago so not sure if I'm elligible, but I see people posting their deposit addresses, so just in case:  18qk6gAHEEquicBEmJ5rZFtzxMyhJAv8iP
547  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: When will BTC be worth $100,000 per BTC??? on: November 25, 2013, 04:18:57 AM
Well I would like to see the next wave up in price before getting a good guess at that.  We've had a fast rise into prices over $500, I'm not sure how the price behaves from here as far as how fast it goes up or maybe stabilizes for a while.
548  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What's your favorite alternative currency besides bitcoin and why? on: November 25, 2013, 04:16:13 AM
I like the Litecoin right now, it seems well respected.  I Do try to keep on the lookout for any up and coming coins also.

551  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Rigs? on: November 25, 2013, 04:09:04 AM
Hey guys!  Pretty new to the whole crypto scene but have been reading about it for more than a year, tried mining some bitcoins about 1year ago but did not have much luck..

Anyways, with all these alt coins popping up I am going to look around and see who seems serious and who does not and try to get some at the beginnins of them.. To my questions.

Is there anything special I should buy for a computer? A mining rig perhaps? Or are they outdated?

Maybe go for SLI's?  Please do share your wisdom with me as I am still mad for not buying bitcoins in 2011 when they were only a couple of $ and my friend adviced me to do so.

Cheers

-Hampuz

Have thought about this a few times.  Makes a bit more sense to do it or at least start it in the winter, let us know how it goes, and which coins in particular are good mining if not switching around is best.

It's been a while, but I've played and since gotten board with several of those listed.
553  Other / Off-topic / Re: Hidden TOR sites. on: November 25, 2013, 04:04:39 AM
Curious about how they are actually hosted, for example wasn't SilkRoad hosted by a rented VPS in a foreign country. How did DPR know the company wouldn't snoop on his hosted content?

I was never really sure about this.  What's the safest way to host a site like that?
554  Other / Off-topic / Re: BitCoin to $1,000,000 ??? on: November 25, 2013, 04:02:12 AM
Well U.S. dollars are really not that great so yea, maybe.
555  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you have multiple dreams that "continue" randomly? on: November 25, 2013, 04:00:42 AM
I have dreams that continue sometimes.  For me only happens if the originating dream wasn't too long ago.

557  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you know the felling when...? on: November 25, 2013, 03:57:47 AM
Never happened to me, but most of the time someone knocks that doesn't know I'm home I'll just ignore it.  They can call or text ahead I figure.
558  Other / Off-topic / Re: Embarrassed myself in public today.... on: November 25, 2013, 03:54:19 AM
That's quite the story OP has here.  I'm pretty sure she would remember though.

Sort of a Long-winded write up, but I did read it.  What's your take on Ixcoin, and that other one that put them in league with LTC, BTC.  I'm not really familiar with those, thanks.

Would like to try these, what's a good exchange that takes them?
