Thank you for this! I made a USD/BTC tracking chart based on this at http://caktux.ca/virwox comparing the resulting price with MtGox and Bitstamp. Deposit and withdrawal fees are also taken into account. I was surprised to see that even after all those fees, there are a few times when you can get a better rate than at the other exchanges. For a market order right now would cost $101.85 per BTC, and you could sell for $96.50. That's without the fees which I think change with your volume and the order type, but are pretty high. Your site says 106-108, so sell is probably around 90ish with those fees. The Buy is not too horrible if you're doing it on credit.

It's alright as far as looks, wheels kinda slow to show graphical representation of change to win. Seems these spin wheel games are popular with BTC game sites, I haven't seen too many outside of BTC gaming.

Very interesting. I would love to see some updated information and compare the 2011 data to today's Gambling Economy. Any chance you would still be interested in continuing it?
How'd you dig this up? Interesting article, I bet there's a lot more dice gaming now then back then.

In Chicago, IL fast food workers are striking, protesting and demanding $15/hr where the state minimum wage is $8.25/hr.
The average profit margin for a company is about 5-10% and these idiots want their salaries nearly doubled, arguing that they're not receiving a livable wage.
Um, no. I'm getting a bit sick of this attitude of entitlement floating around the USA, and keep in mind I work in the field of social services.
When I graduated and began work as a counselor in the adult psychiatric unit of a Chicago hospital, I made $15/hr with a post-graduate degree and was sent to the emergency room twice for being assaulted on the job within a period of 6 months.
So, what did I do? Did I bitch and complain and protest about my salary or my work conditions? No. Instead, I updated and revised my résumé and began sending it directly to the email addresses of the hiring managers at a variety of agencies. Within 2 months I secured a new job where I am under-qualified and overpaid, and I love my new job. I'm proud of it, and proud of myself for doing what I needed to do to adapt and thrive.
Thoughts?
Different people whine/brag in different ways. Some choose bitcointalk.org forum for example. I am 'entitled' to social security because I've put in probably at least several hundred large. In the unlikely event that the system does not collapse completely, I only really expect to get back what I need. If I don't need my full 'investment' back it means that I've been lucky enough to remain healthy. If I genuinely need more than I put in it means that I have had some mis-fortune and am probably living in misery. I'd much prefer the former. Would I prefer to not be forced into this insurance policy but be free to make my own choice? Obviously yes, but human nature is such that it is simply not a workable scheme. I cannot force myself to take up residence in Libertarian la-la-land, though it seems like a cozy area if I could. Alas, what we have (I strongly believe) is a situation where well connected insiders have managed to abscond with my SS contributions and it is entirely unlikely that I will see anything near a 'fair' return whether I have a true need or not. Sucks, but it makes no sense for me to 'go postal' about it. It would just make my life less pleasant and would not solve the problem. At this point I am comfortable making alternate plans to protect my own ass (like Bitcoin for instance) and trying to support the minority of decent politicians with the wisdom to set up for the best possible outcome (for us plebs) when the shit does finally hit the fan. In the mean time, my strategy is to arrange my life such that I can go through periods of not making a lot of money and thus not paying a lot into an 'entitlement' system which I strongly believe will ultimately fail me (and the rest of us who are not in the higher echelons of the modern financial capital system.) Doing that now. It's great! Well said. And yes, some people are whining about other people whining, what can you do.

Police said the sharp end of the palm could have hurt somebody and Olivieri is in jail on a $20,000 bond. WTF? Just Amazing. I guess I'd rather have that pointed at me than a gun though.

Users should be paying attention to who they give their money to instead of assuming anyone who can make a post is trustworthy. There should probably be a sticky about the scams occurring in that section, and maybe they can add the red warning text to the group buy threads also.

Nice, you should look at some of competitors for ideas to add more events also, so you can see what's popular.
Or a Small bounty for unique ideas that generate a lot of bets... !> 122dS8stWBaXeVDK5JbQG96sduV25ozE2n Heh! I think one of the older Prediction markets did that at one time, not sure if it's still ongoing.

When I made this thread I actually had dice games in mind, as I had profited just a bit, but after I made this thread I actually lost about 45 bucks, increasing as the price goes up. I've actually recuperated almost all of it, but certainly was not easy.
Well some people get streaks of luck that can last a while in those dice or similar games, sometimes can trick them into thinking they can win forever. But it won't happen the edge is always with the casino.

Well thanks to diatonic Crimecoin now has a block explorer. It can be found here : http://altcha.in/chain/CrimecoinI am guessing people just like crime or something. Pretty basic block explorer, but a very good start for such a new coin.

However, your last idea is very interesting. I understand that this is already possible now, a miner could deposit say 10 BTC, short 25 BTC, which would effectively "lock in" the price of 15 BTC that will be mined in the future. How do you see that?
The problem is the leverage ratio if doing it this way. A short of 25 BTC with 10 BTC as collateral already have the leverage max out. A rise in BTC value will trigger force liquidation? I am not clear about the rules regarding shorting BTC. Anyone care to explain it in detail? The capital requirement also seem a little high given the mechanic and leverage ratio. Looks like margin requirement is 10%, so you'd be good until your collateral falls to around 2.5 BTC. edit: the FAQ mentions maintenance and that margin call is issued if your Net value falls below twice maintenance.

Besides that, the order book isn't too amazing if you take a look, think this one's not really in the game anymore.

Hi, I'm about writing a book about scammers.I want to know your experiences. So if you have been (successfully or unsuccessfully) scammed, or have scammed, tell me your story. Especially I want to know: - YOUR story as scammed, (or maybe as scammer)
- what was the scam about, how was it supposed to work
- where was the scam tried (chat, mail, face-to-face)
- how did the scammer act, what did he/she say
- were there any (faked) personal data
- as much info as you want to give
Please help me writing this book and fighting scam! Answer here, as PM or anonymous on TorChat (trxpncdbsaomdjgk) I'll give away 10 eBooks to the best stories I could use!Well, maybe more, but let's start with 10 Thanks! p.s.: English is not my native language, but I've an american doing the translations TorChat: https://github.com/prof7bit/TorChat/downloadsCheck out the Pirate@40 debacle if you haven't already.

Not the greatest ranking I've seen. Can you breakdown those stats you said earned the sites their spot, think something is not right there. Even some type of poll would work better.
|
|

Hard to say, but consider that they still haven't earned themselves a scammer tag here it appears.

Hi there, I'm writing my first post with the aim to be able to post in others categories. I'm reading this forum since a few month but never felt like writing anything. Maybe just learning at first . Now I feel like sharing and I could have some stories to tell so lets get started. Welcome to the board, hope you like it.

I like how the shareholders get all the dividends till they break even. How do you plan to counter jumps in the difficulty?
