982  Economy / Goods / Re: Loaded 1 BTC Physical Silver Casascius Bitcoins For Sale on: March 14, 2014, 12:02:55 PM
When you say "last batch", do you mean the silver+golds in general?

I notice that the obverse of the coin shows a 1Ag5 prefix -- if I'm not mistaken, there are 1Ag6 silver+gold 1oz coins out there. Anyone able to verify?

DISCLAIMER BECAUSE I AM FUCKING SICK OF EXPLAINING WHY I AM INTERESTED IN DIAMOND CIRCLE: I WANT TO BUY ONE OF THE GODDAMNED ATMS! I DONT WISH TO INVEST IN THE SECURITY. IF THEY MAKE THE ATM THEY PROPOSE IT WILL BE THE BEST ONE TO MARKET AT THIS POINT. THIS IS NOT DEBATABLE.

990  Economy / Goods / Re: Checking interest; Casascius 0.1 coins on: February 27, 2014, 06:32:22 PM
Its the .5 BTC cas coins with a S2 I believe hologram that are rare with a total mintage of 45. There are a lot more S3 if I'm not mistaken.

The markup was too high from what i recall, even direct from casascius.

In fact, if you bought them straight from casascius, they were the same price as the s3 holos. Now, however...

As someone who has sent mail to two of the names in your list, I can tell you that either (a) you're completely wrong or (b) the guy you're looking for simultaneously lives in two different countries.

There's this guy Occam, see, and he's got this razor...

To be fair, I haven't had any issues with the service aside from an occasional CAD deposit delay (bank's fault).

I haven't held CAD or BTC in my account for a while, though, mostly due to my own paranoia about losing money. YMMV.
994  Economy / Goods / Re: Calling All RARE CASASCIUS COINS! Get Your FULL Asking Price! on: February 22, 2014, 08:53:14 PM
I received a PM from elianite a few days ago regarding this, but didn't bother to respond until I saw this thread here.

3. IF coin sells, money is put in escrow for you and you will ship it to our location, from where it will be shipped to the new owner. (we will also compensate you for the tracked & signed shipping)

In other words, its completely risk-free to you, as you hold onto your coin and don't need to pay anyone a cent.

I feel like I don't even need to point out the utter foolishness of this plan beyond the statements I've highlighted in red, but I'll give it a shot.

Are you in the Web of Trust? It doesn't appear so: http://bitcoin-otc.com/viewratingdetail.php?nick=elianite

Can you please explain how there is no risk involved in my mailing valuable coins to a complete stranger who isn't in the OTC web of trust, has zero trust on his forum account, doesn't even bother letting us know his real name?

Can you please explain how I "hold onto my coin" when in the previous sentence, you clearly stated that I'd have to mail my coin to you?

Can you please explain how extending the PGP chain of custody would work, or why sellers would wish to add an extra middleman to the chain of custody? Are you even aware of PGP custody chains and how they work?

OgNasty has it right -- your idea (and let's be fair, all you have here is a napkin scribble and a domain name) is completely and irreparably flawed. I wouldn't send you shit, and I question the wisdom of anyone who would.

I fail to see how this is even a marginal improvement over (a) using a trusted escrow or (b) paying half up-front and half on delivery.

Flawed service run by an anonymous nobody that's so structured towards supporting scams that I have a hard time believing it wasn't done on purpose.

NO THANKS.

Sorry guys but this art is disgusting! The onle good thing about it that they can be sold for BTC

Thanks for adding some noise to the conversation. We were all wondering about the opinion of the asshole noob with ten posts.
996  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] Casascius Series 1 1BTC, 5 BTC, 25 BTC on: February 19, 2014, 05:00:47 PM
Are you looking to sell for 2x face value or what

I see this often enough that I feel like I need to address it.

The value of a collectible coin doesn't have anything to do with its face value.

"2x face value", etc, is simply not how coins are priced, and it doesn't make sense to say things like this.

Here's how a coin is priced:

<intrinsic value> + <numismatic value> + <seller's premium> = <price of coin>

For bullion coins, like Krugerrands or silver Maple Leafs, the intrinsic value is the value of the metal. For a Casascius coin, the intrinsic value is the face value plus the value of any precious metals.

The numismatic value is the amount of additional money the coin would fetch, based on its rarity or desirability as a collectible.

The seller's premium is the profit margin of the seller.

Note how there are no multiplication (x) symbols in the above equation; only plus (+) symbols.

Using the "?x face value" system does nothing but help people with high-face value coins rip off the general coin-buying public. "Buy my 10btc coin for 30btc -- only 3x face value! It's just like getting an 0.5btc coin for 1.5btc!" -- this glosses over the fact that the seller is asking a TWENTY BTC PREMIUM for a coin that's not even one of the most rare Casascius coins. Think about that. Even at today's exchange rates, that's a TWELVE THOUSAND DOLLAR premium. For a privately-minted round issued in 2013.

Go into a coin store and tell them about this, watch their jaw hit the floor.

Something to think about Smiley
997  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Official CaVirtex.com Thread on: February 19, 2014, 04:32:20 PM
So this thread now explains why I'm stuck in verification limbo.  Are there any decent Canadian exchanges out there that are legit and easy to use?

All I want to do is put enough money into bitcoin to buy from Bitmain.

There's Vault of Satoshi, but if you ask me, you have to be a fucking idiot doing business with an "exchange" that supports DOGE.

Any others?

http://www.bcsc.bc.ca/about.asp?id=16

The number I was provided matches the first 6 digits of the listed contact number on the BC Securities Commissions website, assuming they use DDI's it looks like this may be a legitimate contact. I'll call them when timezones permit and I'll provide the number as required to anyone who has been scammed by "blacklilac".

http://www.canada411.ca/ has a reverse phone number lookup service, it would be worthwhile running the number there to see if it is indeed the BCSC or if it's just someone trying to suss out how much info you have.

Have any shareholders, who sent in scans of their documents, gotten their "digital scanned copy of their paper share certificate" yet?

Not me. Sent the documents back on Jan 18th. Anyone else had anything back yet?

Nope

Nope, I've emailed support, Allison and Joseph directly and I have gone completely ignored for weeks. Scary.

Sounds like a
SCAM.

Pulling any remaining funds out ASAP wouldn't be the worst idea.
