901  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin GOLD - A well thought Scam? on: October 10, 2017, 07:15:40 PM
I was reading some articles on Reddit regarding the upcoming Fork of BTC to create Bitcoin Gold or BTG. I stumbled upon one of the the post from Reddit user: EnviousArm
Reddit user link: https://www.reddit.com/user/EnviousArm

All the credits goes to Reddit user: EnviousArm as this user has done all the efforts and work. I am just trying to bring this to light for bitcointalk members. Thank you.

Link to the post: https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/757jf4/here_is_why_bitcoingold_is_shady_and_a_scam_you/

Update 3: I've done a reverse whois lookup on their website, and found a ton of domains registered under the same email (not same IP) in their whois. the domains look super damn scammy by the way, you can check them out yourself here: https://i.imgur.com/HG31eie.png

And for the actual list if you don't wanna see a picture, here: http://viewdns.info/reversewhois/?q=xiangliao%40gmail.com

I got the email from: https://www.whois.com/whois/btcgpu.org BTG is, without a doubt, a complete scam.

Looks like they tried running several ICOs, one of them is even still active called sandcoin.org (which is obviously a scam too) Update 2: *

Premined: https://github.com/BTCGPU/BTCGPU/pull/2

    Unfinished pow implementation: https://github.com/BTCGPU/BTCGPU/pull/15

Replay protection not implemented (You might lose your Bitcoins if you try to transfer or sell your airdropped Bitcoin gold be careful!): https://github.com/BTCGPU/BTCGPU/issues/18

No change of difficulty algorithm implemented (they will compete with other GPU-mined coin for hashpower)

No commits merged to main public repo in last 21 days

Without the difficulty fix alone, this coin will crater rapidly.

Assuming it survives that, without replay protection, big exchanges won't list it, and wallets won't support it. The code is unfinished and in flux that no-one can seriously review it yet, and there's no commit for a testnet definition yet. (thanks to /u/StrawmanGatlingGun)

Update 1: In their Website-Snapshot from the github (https://github.com/BTCGPU/website) they stated that the fork snapshot already processed: "Bitcoin Gold (BTG) is a new proof-of-work cryptocurrency that will be hard forked from the Bitcoin blockchain on October 1 at block height 487427", which actually ended up being September 28th (https://blockchain.info/block-height/487427) partial info thanks to /u/rhuxx for the find.

As some of you may know, Bitcoingold is attempting to fork Bitcoin at the 25th of October. However in the past they decided they'll fork during the Bitcoincash date, both of which have ended up confusing me thus I've decided to do more research on the matter.

As I dug in deeper Bitcoingold started falling apart in front of my eyes losing all my trust in it. Here is what I've found.

First I read about this to get a better idea behind it: https://medium.com/@EthereumRussian/is-another-hardfork-going-to-kill-bitcoin-bitcoin-gold-e49b24ad8a9

The article mentioned there's been an ICO page, intrigued I decided to do a quick google search and found this 29 August bitcointalk thread that has more information regarding it: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2046790.0

Along with the original Bitcoingold developer thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2133536.0

It seems that they have possibly ran an ICO (Unsuccessfully most likely) but most certainly had premined the coin, thus I went to their website which at the time (9th of October) only ran a splash screen: http://btcgpu.org/ in an attempt to confirm my doubts.

This didn't lead me far, I needed to confirm those claims by myself, thus I went to the wayback machine (a wayback machine takes snapshots of websites so you can tell what changed in a website over time) and picked the August 31 date of the bitcoingold website. https://web.archive.org/web/20170831032225/http://btcgpu.org/

This confirmed the rumors, the website owners/original developers intended to run an ICO (which may or may not been successful) and also premined 16000 Blocks, worth at least 200,000 Bitcoin gold. The ICO price was supposedly 1 BTC = 10 BTG.

Since they are holding that information away from us and hiding it, this makes me believe that, bitcoingold is infact a scam and an attempt to milk the Crypto community out of their money, please don't fall into this scam and don't buy bitcoingold, dump it and let others know you can even do your own research with the Wayback machine I linked above or any time machine.

Regards, A fellow crypto investor

tl;dr BTG (Bitcoin gold is pre-mined 200,000+ BTG, and previously offered as an ICO, now they are trying to hide both of that information from us and telling people to dump their alts to get free "Bitcoin gold". the fork dates do not match, they specified different dates 3 times, once in their github page (1th october, and the block ended up being mined at 28th september) and a third time as 25th of october. all this combined information makes this me believe with no doubt that this is a scam in the making, and you should all dump your BTG as soon as you get it and never, ever buy BTG. also there is no replay protection, incomplete pow implementation, and no difficulity adjustment just the replay protection alone means you can lose your BTC by trying to sell/transfer your BTG, whois email associated domains shows complete scammy icos and domains registered under the email, this without a doubt they are 100% scammers.).

Well, I really am not the kind of person that judges people that easily, but with this one, looking at the things that you have stated/provided, I really am now having second thoughts about this project even more. I used to not think of this as a scam yet, and just thought that it is still trying to make progress but damn. You made it pretty clear with this one mate.

Thanks for sharing this great information with the community man. Great job.
902  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: October - China back in the game ? on: October 10, 2017, 06:42:32 PM
New rumours surfacing about the return of China with regulations in October

https://news.bitcoin.com/virtual-currencies-expected-to-regulated-in-china-on-october-1st/

Wow, if this is really true, then it will really be a great step forward for not just bitcoin but for all other crypto currencies. Although they are not needed anymore,.  the way that they will be dealing with the crypto currencies awould be an amazong job. And might help other countries to accept crypto currencies by adapting the ways being done by china. Which will then be again another great accomplishment for bitcoin.
903  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Where do you find interesting ICO ? on: October 10, 2017, 06:22:32 PM
Where do you find interesting ICO or crypto projects to invest ? Here on bitcointalk announcements or on other websites related to new ICO  announcements !

There really are a wide variety of ways out there to know about interesting ICOs. Only if you try hard. But to answer your question, I prefer to dig in to this forum more than any other sites because this source is more reliable than others. Which some might disagree with but that is how i see it. So your choice if you want to believe me or not. But one advice i can give you is that before doing anything else, search first about the devs and the team of an ICO that you have your eyes set on. And if you think the devs are great, then proceed with the white paper. And if not, then erase that ICO from your list. So that you can save ample of time. That is what i often do.
904  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Can i trust EtherDelta with my Private Keys ? on: October 10, 2017, 05:57:11 PM
Hello,

I wanted to try etherdelta to trade my tokens.

Can i trust etherdelta with my Private keys ?

Well, as for me, in my experience, I have not encountered any problem of such in etherdelta and any other well known trading sites. And have been getting good profit. But because i am paranoid, and really skeptical about almost everything, I often empty my exchange wallet and put amounts i only need for trading. That’s how i do things. So i suggest you do the same to prevent regrets.
905  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you trade based on your emotions? on: October 10, 2017, 06:34:36 AM
Neural network & blockchain-based technology that eliminates emotional influences to increase revenue for day traders.
+ we have patent application!
[ ICO Athena - http://athenacoin.io ]

Of course i do! If you do not have emotions when trading. You aren’t human. The things that separates a good trader to a bd trader are great knowledge, great experience and great control of emotions. But not no emotions. Emotions drives us and fuels our desires to continue trading. No bot is better than a human being. Bots will always lack something. Which is humiliating for a bot,m. Whereas in humans, mistakes are common and can be improved with experience over time.
906  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to partecipate an airdrop? on: October 10, 2017, 04:41:59 AM
Im a newbie
I see lot of airdrop here, and I want to partecipate, but I don't understand how to do it.

I have to send my eth adresse, but how can I have the "airdropped Crypto"?

Thanks

Get a waves wallet and an etherium wallet. Because most of the airdrops here are using those wallets. Also, you have to read everything about the airdrop because one airdrop differs from another. Some are easy while others aren’t. Some are scams and some are legit. So you have to use common sense when participating in any airdrop. Some may also require you to download their wallet. So just read a lot and don’t rely on others for basic information.
907  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Your Favorite Marketplace? on: October 10, 2017, 04:11:25 AM
Whats everyones favorite market place where you can buy things with cryptocurrencies?

I really have a couple in mind, and have used quite a lot. Because some give discounts for the items. But to be honest, the one i prefer the most is bittrex. Mainly because it is easy to use. Specially for newbies in the crypto world. You can use it on a desktop or on a mobile phone. It also gives you the benefit of choosing coins that you wanna use.
hitBTC, cryptopia and liqui.
908  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Fundamentally different coin? on: October 09, 2017, 04:46:16 PM
I played with an idea a while back that I thought could be fundamentally different than what was on the market up until now: a currency based on Human Worktime instead of PoW of a CPU. How it could work is, I would create a task, this would trigger the blockchain to create an ''unmined'' block with that specific task in it. Once you complete the task, I sign the first transaction and you receive the newly created coins. This could work as an oil stain system, where we begin with webdevelopment or something that has a relatively equal price and can be done over the internet. The data from this system can be fed back into it to let it calculate the different demands/supplies for certain skills and labour. This would factor into the price, making more desirable tasks and services more expensive and less uncommon ones cheaper.
This would ensure that every coin that is mined and spent in this system is some quantifiable increase in real world value. This system does not allow for either whales to invest in it, nor does it allow people to become rich through not adding value to the system. It only allows for people to start working to earn these coins. In a system with a limited amount of coins, it would still make the early adopters rich. In a system with no cap on the amount of coins the system would naturally gravitate towards one unit being the average of a low skilled job around the world / on internet.

Thanks for reading and any and all comments are welcome!

Hats off man. This really is a pretty interesting concept you got here. It is different from all that I’ve seen so far.

But let’s be honest here, knowing humans, I do not think a lot would be interested. The idea is awesome, i will give you that, but the thing is, people will always want the easiest ways in life. Specially in earning money and profits. Only a few would really want to go through the grind and hassle for earning the specific coin.

But hey, it’s just my opinion.
I for one love the concept, and suggest that you build a team for this. I would really love to see how this project will develop. If I were someone who had any capabilities that could make this happen, i would really volunteer to be part of the team. Not for the money but for the concept itself. And of course, to satisfy my curiosity. And if ever money comes, then it would be just a plus.
909  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: which country do you think the most needed the national cryptocurrency ? on: October 09, 2017, 04:12:53 PM
There are lots of rumors or maybe truth which are trying to make national cryptocurrency.
There were Japan and China which tried to make the national cryptocurrency to get the control of "virtual" economy.
But I think there are lots of countries definitely needed the national cryptocurrency for people in that country.
Do you have in mind any country needed the national cryptocurrency? Please share Smiley

Well, i honestly think that not only dozens, a few, or just a country should make a national crypto currency. Because it can really help any country in various ways. Plus it can also put both sides at ease(banks together with all the governments and croto lovers) because clearly, governments and banks want control and taxes, and people are sick of those, so by doing this, both sides can have benefits, governments have limits on digging and taxing people, while people are also limited in tax evading and doing illegal things through crypto currencies.
That is my opinion.
910  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Differentiate between an ICO and a scam on: October 09, 2017, 02:35:05 PM
ICO is the abbreviation of Initial Coin Offering. It means that someone offers investors some units of a new cryptocurrency or crypto-token in exchange against cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin or Ethereum. Since 2013 ICOs are often used to fund the development of new cryptocurrencies. The pre-created token can be easily sold and traded on all cryptocurrency exchanges if there is demand for them.

Advantages of ICO:
1. Non-lengthy listing process
2. Low listing cost and yearly maintenance
3. Access to global liquidity

Disadvantages of ICO:
1. No due diligence process
2. Lack of regulations

There are many good ICOs out there.
Its an excellent platform for those who are holding a million dollar idea to expand and execute with funds yet improving the economy with investors. However what its lacking is the due diligence we see in IPOs. New developed platforms definitely lures scammers into the game, but with caution/practice due diligence like finding out more about the whitepaper, development team, address of the company, analyzing the project will lower the risk of being victimized.

Tips to identify and analyse a good ICO:

1. Whitepaper
Read up the whitepaper, spot for any discrepancies or any thing that doesn't make sense. Identify the key idea of the project and analyse if the idea will work out or make any sense.

2. Founder Team
Do some research on the founder team members, spot if their names are short names like "Tony" compared to "Tony Jim Rodriguez". Many ICO scams out there uses very short names.

3. Contact and Address
Practice due diligence, research and look through the contact numbers and address of the project, check if they are using a legit one.

4. Read up forums
Usually scams might be identified by other victims, do a thorough research on the project you wish to participate. You might find some tell tail signs of a scam.

All in all, practice due diligence to avoid being the next victim.

Thanks for sharing this great information op. This will really help a lot of newbies here in this forum that wants to get their hands on different kinds of alternative coins. This will really help them from getting scammed.

But let me also share my way of determining scams or shitcoins. It is very easy. I just go and search about the devs and their team. To save some time because if the devs aren’t good, I don’t go and read the whitepaper and erase the ICO on my list. But if the devs are good, then I proceed reading more about the certain ICO. That is my way of filtering ICOs.
911  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Hold BTC or Buy Altcoins - Hard fork on: October 09, 2017, 11:12:31 AM
So the hard fork is near and it must be difficult for beginners to what to choose. I am myself confused what to do.
Vote your choice and see the results and share your opinions on the fork.
Obviously everybody would want to make this opportunity a profitable one by increasing the capital. So what do you think would be more profitable out of the given options.

You should do both. But invest into bitcoin more. Because you can certainly get a bunch of those gold for free when you keep a huge amount of bitcoins at hand. That is a guarantee. I mean, who wouldn’t want free money? Lol.
But still, altcoins are important because together with btc they will rise after the fork. So i suggest get bith and put a bit more on btc.
912  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoin Pucrhase With Credit Card Good ? on: October 09, 2017, 05:52:24 AM
I was reading in the last few weeks about brokers and sellers of Bitcoin  can use credit cards to make this purchase. At first I was like this is a bad thing. Thinking it will be abused as the value continues to rise. Well after looking at this I understand all brokers you can fund your account with a credit card, So why not Bitcoin.

I looked at this if you are able to trade the markets you should be responsible to buy Bitcoin on a credit card.

Dude, there are a lot of exchanges already accepting credit cards. But the thing is, you have to verify your identity which is a big hassle if you ask me, so i think it is better if you just go and work for jobs that gives bitcoins or other alternative coins. That way, you wouldn’t have to go through this much hassle.
913  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best altcoin wallet with low fees on: October 09, 2017, 05:41:14 AM
Hi, I am holding my altcoin in many different wallet and this is a mess.

Zcashforwin - good wallet
Mist (Ether) - always downloading the blockcahain - not so good
Armory (BTC) - cannot function without bitcoincore - not so good
I run other nodes too

Finally, I am holding some coins on exchange so I am looking for a good multi currency wallet.

I have read about Jaxx, Coinomi (I don't have android)  and Exodus but I would like to have your opinion.

And I would like to know if some wallets have higher fees?

Thanks!

Myetherwallet all the way. I love how easy it is to use and how it is secure. Just awesome. Probably better than any other wallets put there plus it has already built a good reputationn. To many people obviously.  It is always a good choice to use what a lot of people has tried already. So i suggest you do the same. Hope this helps.
914  Economy / Economics / Re: So, you want to be rich? All of you ? on: October 06, 2017, 05:04:38 PM
Just imagine. If ALL OF US would be rich, that means we would live our lives out from dividends, or any passive income of at least $1k a month. Then it would be jawesome, right ? Well, but then I do have a question.
WHO on this Earth would bake the bread for ALL OF US ?
Robots, you might say?
OK, nice idea.
But then, WHO on Earth would maintenance these robots ?
Another robots ?
I don't think so.
Even if so, even if there would be a Skynet of robots, who would not just bake the bread, but also harvest the grains, transport it, deliver to our doors. What then ?
We could eat for free, as much as you want?
Cool, but what about overweight then.
Doctor? But hey wait, NO ONE on this Earth work, so we have no doctors.
OK, we have Doctor Robots.
Who would teach our kids? Robots! Who would change the diapres? Robot!
Even if humans would master all this, we would need to have all the knowledge to teach our robots to work for us. To be slaves for us. (no minds, just pure robotic hands/arms and so on, Tesla's and autopilots)
But even then, there is one huge problem.
I do not want to touch any country, or race, or group of people, but imagine, if you put infinite amount of resources to any kind of animal (including humans), they would reproduce themselves to infinite. Because they simply can. Because parents do not need to parent their kids anymore, because we have robots! So we would need a limit of reproducing, no right to reproduce as much as you can handle (infinite resources), because we would simple have like 50-100billion people on this planet, and there would be no robots who could grow so much grains to bake bread. (perhaps hyper dense pills could be the away).
So, back to the original question, why do people believe, they all can be rich ?
It was, is, and will be, ALWAYS about that who is going to earn more, not enough, but more than the others.
Why?
If there is only one mansion on the Bahamas, which is large enough, sunny enough, sexy enough, there is no freaking way, ALL OF US could buy it. Just one. 1. One. And if only 10 buyers come with their million, to who would seller sell this mansion to? First ? But second also have million and ALL OF US want to be rich (own that one mansion). So second would have to offer 2 million, right?
Wrong.
No one would want to sell such mansion in the first place, as he is already rich. We all are.

Dude, if you think about it, all of the people in this world being rich will never happen. Not now, not tomorrow, not ever. Even by the time that doomsday comes there will still be poor people. Lots and lots of us. Because even if time comes that people’s salaries reach 1m per year, nothing will change. Standards will adapt and rise. Along with all the prices of things we buy. The main reason is because men will always want superiority over others admit it or not it is true. It is our nature.
915  Economy / Economics / Re: How much money do you have left from your job? on: October 06, 2017, 04:50:51 PM
I want to talk about salaries. How much $ do you have left after paying taxes, rent, and basic expenses (electricity, water)
I get $10 000/y like a fucking slave
My spending basic is $5 000 / year, including food, $2 500 without food
I live in the former SSSR
Another reason to move away

Also they give me these communistic so called "benefits" when you get like prepaid cards for predefined services

https://www.facebook.com/televize.polar/videos/1047399295339540/

Dude! Are you seriously complaining about that? I mean, a lot of people in this world can’t even reach 1/8 of that much salary! And worse is that they do not get benefits from anything because most of the jobs they get don’t cover insurances, etc.

And damn suck to be one of them. But im still lucky because i only support myself. But still, it is hard as fck! Really really hard. So better be thankful that at least you get that kind of salary that others only dream of.
916  Economy / Economics / Re: what will happen to banks? on: October 06, 2017, 04:39:32 PM
Since banks profit from fees and blockchain will kill fees, my guess is banks will be negatively impacted.
Some banks are already stepping into the blockchain world.
But blockchain will not bring back the profits as otherwise.
Any thoughts?
Apologies if this is not the right place to discuss.
Thanks in advance.

Banks in the future would probably still be banks. Lol.

But seriously though, crypto currencies really are a big nuisance for the banks. Even with the government. Because they cannot control it, they cannot forbid any illegal transaction because they are blind when it comes to cryptos. And most of all, they cannot tax people as much as they can when crypto currencies were still nowhere to be found.

So i think the banks will either build a crypto currency that they can manipulate(which won’t be famous) or adapt and do something to get at least something which is better than nothing out of the crypto world. Because obviously, they cannot stop it let alone kill it.
917  Economy / Economics / Re: Tell me your predictions about Bitcoin on: October 06, 2017, 03:59:50 PM
What is the obstacles, challenges and problems that Bitcoin can face it in 5 years? How we can help Bitcoin to take more authoritative place in the world of currency system?

The biggest obstacles of bitcoin in the past, today and probably in the future are the governments along with their banks. Which are ran by the people on top. Then there are the people who abuse the crypto currencies and use them to scam other people and do illegal things with the help of all the crypto currency that they think are beneficial to their wrong doings.

We can help by not thinking of it as just a source of income but as a currency. Which is its true purpose. And another is to not patronize anything illegal. And lastly, share our knowledge to as many people as we can and make them understand what crypto currencies really are and what purpose do they really serve.
918  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: is it risky to turn all my money to bitcoins? on: October 05, 2017, 10:41:58 AM
is it risky to turn all my money to bitcoins? anyhow this money sits in the bank and do nothing for!

You know what pal, there really is no such thing in this world that has greatness without risks. That just doesn’t exist. If you wanna be successful, take a risk. But do not take risks stupidly. Take these risks with great precautions. Being successful involves lots of thinking and patience. Of course risk taking also.
Having said all these, I suggest you put half of it as investment and half saved for emergencies. Because anything can happen a minute after now.

Good luck pal.
919  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as salary for a regular job? on: October 05, 2017, 06:30:48 AM
Would you accept bitcoin as your salary in your profession, especially if you work in other country?

For me yes I will accept bitcoin because we can exchange it in our local currency.

As good as it sounds, I don’t think it is a good idea. Sure, getting bitcoins as salary is cool and awesome. But if you think about the volatility, then it becomes quite bad. But if on the days of salaries, the price drops, and increases later, then that would be nice. But the thing is, bitcoin doesn’t work that way, and has a pretty complicated pattern. So I am still going with fiat on this one.
920  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The head of Mexico commented on bitcoin on: October 05, 2017, 06:23:22 AM
Agustin Carstens, head of the National Bank of Mexico, said about bitcoin. Karstens said that bitcoin is more of a commodity than a currency, and added that he does not have anything to ensure his accounting in the financial system. According to him, since bitcoin is not supported by either the government or the Bank of Mexico, it does not fall under the existing currency definitions. In addition, he warned about the problem of cybersecurity and stressed that the safety of users should be ensured. Finally, he noted that the authorities will soon propose legislation regulating financial technologies, such as crypto-currencies. Smiley

Well, everyone has their own say about anything. Specially famous people or things. So I wouldn’t be shocked that this happened or would happen a lot to bitcoin and other crypto currency present. But clearly, this guy doesn’t know much about the security of crypto currencies. And probably just comments based on hear says and not research.

I can also see someone trying hard to hide an intention to make cryptos look bad and to step by step make people accept the plans of the government to centralize the crypto world.

I just hope this doesn’t get misunderstood by a lot and make hundreds of thread about this again just like other news.
