1804  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]{OpenEx} Relaunched! on: January 17, 2014, 07:55:34 PM
Opening back up already? We're supposed to believe you went from complete syadmin noob to pro in 3 days?

Should have spent at least a month learning the stuff you don't know and patching up the holes in your code. But it's not your coins that get lost in a hack it's the people who deposit at your exchange so I guess you've got nothing to lose.

1805  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]{OpenEx} New exchange, Ready for your trades! on: January 16, 2014, 07:09:15 PM

So wait a minute, first there is a flaw in trades that awards double coins and then there's a flaw where all of the trade histories are off? Really, for someone that wants to provide a trusted service like an exchange to the public you don't seem to be taking much ownership in your own product.

I know this:

- I deposited .3 BTC.
- I bought .1 BTC worth of 42 at approximately 33BTC per 42 and received .003 42
- I sold .0026 forty two for over 1100BTC per 42 or around 3 BTC
<here's where you post that you got hacked>
- I withdrew my .5 BTC and .00037 42

Forget anything else...I had a value of over 3BTC in my account and it's not in my withdrawal history. I would like you to give a rats ass about the facts - if you don't, then how the hell do you expect anyone to trust you ever again?

I admire your patience and self control with that reply. I would be pissed as hell if I was spoken to like that after being robbed.

1807  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 12, 2014, 08:30:44 PM
Important question that just popped into my head:

Are we going to capitalise NXT or just use Nxt or even nxt ?
As u can see, i like the capitals.

I'll throw a poll up on Nxtcrypto for this, wait a bit......

I read that as "are we going to capitalise on Nxt"  Cheesy

Ontopic: I use Nxt all the time, but NXT makes it appropriately in your face. Just a bit harder to type all the time.

We are all going to capitalise on NXT.......mwaahhhaaaahhaaa!

Anyhow, put up a poll on nextcoin.org:

https://nextcoin.org/index.php/topic,2893.0.html

So if u care, get in and vote. I'm winning at the moment.....

Typically isn't the convention for currencies to start with the letter X? Which is why BTC is sometimes referred to as XBT. And presumably why Sunny Kind primecoin developer chose the name XPM for primecoin.

That would logically leave us with XNT. But is kind of ugly.

1810  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XCP] Counterparty Protocol, Client and Coin (built on Bitcoin) - Official on: January 08, 2014, 09:23:52 PM
How can I burn a bitcoin for XCP using Electrum? I don't have Bitcoin-qt installed and downloading the fullblockchain will take ages on my internet connection.

Electrum isn't supported (currently). You can use Blockchain.info to burn, however.

Thank you. Reading the guide to burn via Blockchain.info, I think I understand all of the steps and I am going to try a test amount first but what I don't understand is how to claim my XCP after I have burned my BTC?

Can you please explain this?

This (suspected) scam has only been successful because of the NXT phenomenon.
1813  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 07, 2014, 11:14:51 PM
Hi guys,

We would need some PR and marketing on big, trusted sites like Yahoo Financials or Financial Times Online or whatever. There is a bounty for it. Does anyone know about someone having the power to do it? The last time, when the price hit it's highest we had some media coverage (and the alias feature added) which helped to get new Nxters on the boat.

What we need is a Nxt SR market, that would really drive the price of Nxt Smiley  Nxt has its upswing on new features released and usability.  I think the market will take care of itself if we have a fully functioning client (nexern).  We really need something to talk with the media about, at this point we have a relatively unstable client with a huge list of potential features, need to be patient.

I agree that we shouldn't worry much about marketing right now.
1814  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Aero - The Currency of Tomorrow on: January 04, 2014, 11:28:09 PM
Interesting. Too many second gen coins: visacoin, shares, verocoin and soon skycoin and emunie.

Who will win?

Visacoin is based on the same concept of Aerocoin.

Collect coins from people who missed the NXT train.

I highly suspect both of them are going to be NXT forks or just straight up scams. When NXT was collecting money at least the NXT network was semi operational and you could see CFB tinkering with it. With these new ones it's nothing but empty air from what I can see.
1815  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 04, 2014, 07:07:01 PM
Without knowing where the bug is, attempts to work around it like that will only complicate the code.

There is no proof it was not a human error, which is possible when there are many transactions to be sent in manual mode.

Has dgex ever reported this error? He sent the most transactions on the network.
I mean, somehow he lost that 800k.

You'd think that'd be the first thing he would do. Has he? If not, why not?

He also reported being hacked. And he has also alluded to dgex being a beta. So how much of those 800k lost is down to

- NXT client error
- hacking
- dgex software error

He hasn't said. I did ask but he hasn't updated the topic with anything

NEWS

The last chance to claim unclaimed coins is over.

We have ~13M coins left and they'll be spent for rewards, bounties and development. Now we are running a reward program. I ask the community to post here links (with short description and link to BTT profile) to projects/persons that helped to promote Nxt. Only projects launched before the 3rd of Jan can apply. There will be several categories, BCNext will choose 3 best participants from each category. I'll contact project owners via BTT personal message to get Nxt account ids for reward payments. The 1st place will receive 50'000, 2nd - 30'000 and 3rd - 20'000 NXT.

- Faucets
- Giveaways
- Utilities (blockchain explorer or http://nxtra.org/nodes/, for example)

- Public nodes deployment

Please, mark project/person names with bold blue font.

We r supposed to complete the list within 24 hours starting from now.

If I can give a suggestion, you do not need to give away all those NXT at once. By all means reward the community but also keep a good amount held back in my opinion. We've got a long 2014 ahead of us and those funds spent wisely could propel NXT very high up the market cap ranks.

Does anyone have concrete examples of the problems Graviton is referring to that cause him to lose so much money?

If these problems exist we need to fix them as high priority please. No good or reliable services will appear until it is sorted.  Tongue

Questions for DGEX operator

1. Regarding the 800,00 NXT you need to cover. You seem to blame the NXT code yet you posted earlier today that you was also hacked? How much of the 800,000 NXT was lost in the hack and how much was lost due to the software error? And how much of that NXT is due to your own coding errors?

My opinion is if you are out of pocket that much due to NXT software errors or blockchain faults then I can understand somewhat. However server hacks and your own coding errors are your own responsibility.

2. Is the withdrawal fee for new deposits only, or does it include existing deposits? If it covers existing deposits that is quite frankly taking the piss. You can't take people's money and then say ok I'm now charging you to get it back. At least give people notice to withdraw their funds out first - I certainly saw no notice on the site.
1819  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Nxt source code flaw reports on: January 03, 2014, 07:04:21 PM
Man,  the B.S. is unbelievable.

Well, I think u shouldn't bother with talking to me anymore, unless someone quotes ur post. Welcome to my collection of trolls.

You have a fiduciary duty to tell every one who invested in this system.

(1) How much experience you have developing Java programs.
(2) How many hours you spent writing this code and testing it.

If you think what you are doing is legal,  then you have a lot to learn.

Cool story bro. Go back to Bitcoin if you don't like it.
1820  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 01, 2014, 06:50:39 PM
offline mining of all NXT accounts in parallel
problem gets worse the more NXT accounts there are
this attracts more hackers the more NXT is worth
This will create an equilibrium effect like a boat anchor to a hot air balloon. The more NXT succeeds, the more it will be hacked.

CfB, tell me there is a solution that is more effective than the user needs to not be unlucky

James

If they can do this with NXT why can't they do it with Bitcoin?
