It's probably not a coincidence this happened after the Bitcoin malleability saga.

I'm guessing they suffered a loss due to hackers exploiting it.

Have to admit I am surprised because it seemed such a solid exchange technically.

Miner, relax. If you want to make this coin go somewhere don't panic. That's just going to scare off new potential buyers reading this topic.

Instead, post here regularly and contribute as much as possible. The more active this topic is, the more it will be read by other people.

Turds and Trolls Worth Ignoring

1. ManOnTheMoon
2. GingerMod
3. thisisit
Already ignored 3 out of 4 of these. Thanks for the 4th!
+1

I've only noticed those 3. Can't comment on Phillip.

Ironically they are helping us keep this thread at the top of the page. Cheers trolls.

These troll comments are verging on spam now. Perhaps a self moderated topic is needed.
1725  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MINT]Mintcoin, Energy Saving Coin With a Fast Distribution *15 Exchanges on: March 02, 2014, 05:21:19 PM
There has been a protracted effort to spread FUD about the coin from non-participants in the thread, though. Pure spite is a possibility too, I guess.

I agree.

Tbh the trolls are making me feel kind of good. The last coin that had this many trolls was dogecoin.
1726  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN][HVC] Heavycoin - CPU-only, Ultra-secure, Decentralized Voting on: March 02, 2014, 05:18:09 PM
Seems interesting at first sight but can someone explain the decentralised block size voting?

Why would any miner other than an IPO holder vote for less than the maximum block size? Doing otherwise would be like me going to my boss and asking for a pay cut?
1727  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MINT]Mintcoin, Energy Saving Coin With a Fast Distribution *15 Exchanges on: March 02, 2014, 04:51:47 PM
I don't like how this is going, no one is working on the coin, devs can't answer questions about how did the use that 700k, etc, etc.
I just joined here because I wanted to be in a 100% free source POS crypto.

I see a lot of more opportunities in Nxt that has a great community and just opened the code to be 100% open source now. It has lot of new features and great potential.

I'm sorry but I leave the mint boat.

I feel the same but I am still keeping half my holdings.

If you look at the market everything is in decline right now even the big players. LTC/BTC has been dropping for 2 weeks. Doge has gone from 270 to 175 satoshi. Obvioulsy BTC isn't faring well either. NXT has dropped 20%. etc.

Trying to put a positive spin on things these markets could present a big buying opportunity if you can afford it. I don't even like Doge but I am going to dip into it if it falls much further for example.

Confidence was lost when MINT dev wouldn't reveal a list of what he spent the premine on.

Still holding my other half of MINT since it's all profit but disappointed how this is panning out. We should have a ton of promos and bounties going. Even Blackcoin which had no pre-mine has accomplished more with their community founded bounties.
1729  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BC) | on exchanges | PoS | No premine on: March 02, 2014, 01:10:56 PM
Notice that above 16 on mintpal there is only one sell order at the moment. The proof of work miners have almost finished dumping the last of their coins.
1730  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MINT]Mintcoin, Energy Saving Coin With a Fast Distribution *15 Exchanges on: March 02, 2014, 11:58:53 AM
yes it's dead, sell to me please
Buy, no problem.
Price now cheaper nowhere on any exchanger.

Has anyone noticed there are several accounts posting in this topic all registered recently that are trash talking Mint? Brokedummy signed up today and all he's done in his 5 posts so far is trash Mintcoin.

We had classic Gingermod/manonmoon and now we have these newly registered sockpuppet troll accounts?
1731  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BC) | on exchanges | PoS | No premine on: March 02, 2014, 11:56:30 AM
ya i bought in at double the current price. still holding it tho! im never giving up! black power!~

Looks like the whales are keeping the price down with big sell orders

Just the last of the proof of work miners trying to secure their profit.

This coin isn't even that widely known yet. Not on cryptsy for example or the chinese exchanges. This is great for us because any spikes in demand won't be met by multipools dumping their mined coins in the future.

I recommend that we suggest blackcoin to Mintcoin users. I just posted in the Mintcoin topic (disclaimer - I own both). Both the coins are really pretty similar, with a proof of work phase followed by switching to 100% proof of stake. The only difference is Blackcoin pays less interest (more sustainable?) and doesn't have a premine!
1732  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MINT]Mintcoin, Energy Saving Coin With a Fast Distribution *15 Exchanges on: March 02, 2014, 11:53:07 AM
Anyone interested in Mintcoin may also be interested in Blackcoin (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=469640.0)

Based on the same concept, it switched from proof of work to 100% proof of stake 12 hours ago. Price has risen only 10% so far, I suspect because the proof of work miners are dumping the last of their coins. It's a smaller coin with a smaller community than MINT... if nothing else I am watching it to see how it handles the 100% proof of stake and to see what happens to the price.

Also, blackcoin has no premine and all the bounties are clearly listed and organised.
1733  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BC) | on exchanges | PoS | No premine on: March 02, 2014, 12:29:50 AM
Going to be interesting see this coin battle with Mintcoin. Both have a similar concept.
1734  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BC) | on exchanges | PoS | No premine on: March 01, 2014, 10:06:17 PM
I don't really see the point of the coin now. 1% is too low, not even what you get from a bank account. There is no websites using the coin, no games,... and now no mining, just bagholders.

Don't misinterpret me, I'm holding a fair amount of Blackcoins, I'm just concerned about the future of the coin.

1% is a bit insane

NXT is 100% POS and has 0% interest.

Way too early to talk about changing things. Don't change engine of aeroplane mid-flight. Plus it looks bad in the history books if on the first day of POS people are already campaigning to increase the interest rate.
1735  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MINT]Mintcoin, Energy Saving Coin With a Fast Distribution *15 Exchanges on: March 01, 2014, 08:19:58 PM
I'm not sure what the fuss is about with the premine. If I was thinking long term to support my coin I wouldn't spend it all the first month of existence. You need to be smart with your funds and not find yourself having to borrow money in the next couple of months for future development.

It's about transparency . Being transparent is being honest. Since they are not being transparent it's safe to assume they are being dishonest ie. selling for BTC for their own pockets.

Exactly.

I've sold off half my Mintcoin now cos this is not a good sign from silent dev on the premine. All we are asking for is a list of what has been spent so far.

If there is one thing this community hates it's premines and no transparency. Guaranteed this will be called scam coin if it succeeds now.

Why you didn't sell all your Mintcoin if you think like this?

Anything I have left in Mintcoin now is spare profit so it won't hurt me much if it goes down. I've actually put a bunch of my mintcoin into black coin. It's very similar and has just gone into pure POS mode today.

And look how they list their bounties:

When do you guys think a mint-usd market is formed?

We can have it any time, this is just a question of price. If the community wants to pay to get it sooner, it's up to you guys!

How much? Lets see if we can get some donations going if it's not too costly.

We won't disclose the price, but if the community gives 5M Mint, we will happily pay for the rest. (This is at the current price, of course, if the price goes up, less is needed) Remember, we don't ask for anything regarding that, it's just up to you, and the more you give the faster it will happen, because we may choose to pay with less than that.

I know you guys are doing an awesome job at managing this coin but you guys premined for a reason right? Why don't just spend a measly 5 million out of your massive 700 million premine for such an important thing. Mintcoins would become independent from Bitcoin once we have a Mint/USD exchange. Try to explain why the community has to pay for this?

I have been posting repeatedly in this topic that the dev needs to give us a transparent list on what the pre-mined funds have been spent on.

So far only 1 million of the 699 million MINT has been accounted for.

I'm guessing since the dev says 5 million MINT is needed for a mint-usd market that most of that 699 MINT was dumped for BTC. I think that's a fair assumption.

hahaha, there's no logic in that, why would we be there if that was the case?
We just find the price asked is too much. Period.
We use the coins wisely, and we want to develop MintCoin on the long term. Period.

Then give us a list of what the pre-mined MINT have been spent on. Why is that so hard to do? Enough people have asked about it.

Cany anyone list all the differences between this and peercoin?

Peercoin is a mixture of proof of work and proof of stake for mining. Mintcoin will be 100% proof of stake in less than two weeks now. Eventually one day Peercoin will switch over to 100% proof of stake, but no-one knows when... probably not for a long while.
1740  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MINT]Mintcoin, Energy Saving Coin With a Fast Distribution *CoinPayments on: February 28, 2014, 06:14:46 PM
It would nice to get confirmation from the dev that the 1% premine is actually being used for things transparently and isn't just being dumped for BTC to fund development on his mintpal exchange.

I for one can confirm that he has send 250 000 for the design work i have done and another 500 000 for the Blog about Mintcoin giveaway. I also know about other people that have also recievend good amounts for the work they have been doing.
So if you ask me, devs are spending the pre mine as anounced and fair.

That's less than a million MINT accounted for. What about the other 699 million MINT?

This should be done transparently. A simple list of all the bounties and the users and addresses the MINT was sent to. Not behind closed doors and scattered amongst different forums. Clearly the dev is competent at organising information as we can see from the original post which is getting updated regularly, why can't he list everything that has been spent?

Well you can think what you want, i am happy with what the devs and the extendet dev team is doing. And this is 1 milion to ONE person, i never said this is ALL that was given away.

699 million MINT still unaccounted for. Dev needs to list what has been spent and on what. And what is left.

Very simple imo. He's gone into staggering detail updating the original post so I don't see why he can't spend 5 minutes making that list. It's no good sticking our heads in the sand on this one, the bigger MINT gets the bigger this premine is going to be an issue. If it's not done transparently it's going to be a big problem, anyone who argues otherwise doesn't know the crypto community and how it reacts to premines.
