421  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: stop the unnecessary blame on gambling whenever you get unlucky on: January 31, 2024, 05:29:58 PM

A lot of people have been clamoring about how gambling has ruined their life but same gambling has set some people up for life, just like every other form of investment there must always be a profit or a loss.  And life is so balanced that what works for Mr A might not be the same that works for Mr B. Likewise in gambling,  while some are crying about their loss they are some who are smiling and celebrating their win.
Life indeed isn't balanced!!

Like the famous saying, one man's meat is another man's poison and true to this, gambling has made wins from small amounts and these guys are set for life and for the losing party all I can say is greed is the father of all ruined lives!!!

Otherwise let's all treat gambling to be based on pure luck..more like 1% skill and 99% luck and this will save many of us from depression, denial and revenge gambling!

Share your thought on how gambling has come through for you if you got any".
Honestly, it's 50/50 for me I have lost big before and won some big tournaments from it and can't really complain...only regret is the 1 BTC prizes I won several several years ago win BTC was under $500 and if I was holding by now would have be laughing all the way to the bank with a new Lambo.

423  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Africa Football Discussion || Current Topic: AFCON 2023 on: January 31, 2024, 05:10:19 AM
I have always said this edition of the AFCON is the year of the underdog but at the pace it's moving with the favourites like Senegal and Morocco crashing out, and the the the hosts from almost being sent home to knocking out the defending champions....I think this is scripted for ivory Coast to win it !!!!

You look at the remaining teams, and tell me if this story doesn't sound better with a host nation winning, otherwise they played with heart and with 2-3 games to go I think they will hang on and they can do it...

Other teams to watch out for, Cape Verde, Mali , Nigeria, South Africa.

425  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If a addict lives within, which method would you choose to help them on: January 30, 2024, 05:38:03 PM
As a member of a family and there is a gambling addict within, which method do you think it's the best to rip off the addict from your family member?

1. Talk to them and don't leave their side for too long, show them some love and make sure they don't have anything to do with gambling ever again, be soft and gentle with them.
This is a two edged sword, first you need to ask yourself why is your family member gambling, is it for financial gain or fun..if it's fun you need to advise them to be part of the family by contributing what they can and not be wasteful with resources and if it's for financial gain I guess a more stable income try should come from finding a job and not gambling as there is inconsistent here.

2. Be harsh about it, force them to quit, let them know that gambling isn't this safe, bounce on them all the time because you love them, don't go any soft on them, because been soft won't make them see reasons why it's bad to be a gambling addict.
This approach can only be taken if you have had the conversation before otherw being harsh doesn't solve the problem.

Which do you think it's best? Some people do think that been soft and gentle will be more effective and some people think that been harder on them is the real love here, they need to make them stop by force.

What do you think?
Every situation has a way of resolving it and it's easy to take sides on best approach not until you have being tasked with such a problem to resolve.

Ivory Coast had other plans today and am wondering where they were all this long... Senegal have been forced to play extra time from a winning position thanks to some clumsy goal keeping from Mendy which called for a VaR review and Hosts got a late minute penalty.

And from what I can see, Senegalese players look tired and have nothing more to give and hoping the script won't be an exit for the defending champions...

Let's go team Mane, show us why you were crowned Champions 🥳

I still believe this AFCON will be won by an underdog especially that the big dogs are crashing out so easily without putting up a fight..

Just saw Cape Verde get into the quarter finals and it took a defensive error that forced the goalkeeper to commit a foul which lead to the penalty and a free pass...and judging from how these penalties are coming this will be want will get the big teams out!

Otherwise my teams are still in it.. Cape Verde and Senegal and surprisingly I like how the Nigerians have managed to put their act together and finally looking threatening..just hope no more draws to shake up the Pool as competition gets closer to wrapping up!

They say Bad news comes in threes ...and here is the biggest sports news received so far....

Last week we got the news of Klopp stepping down and leaving Liverpool...

Then, Xavi of Barcelona is also said to leave Barca at the end of the season

And now according to what Sky Sports reported, they are saying Arteta is also expected to leave Arsenal at the end of this football season...

What's really happening with our football managers, is the responsibility getting too much for these guys Huh

433  Economy / Speculation / Re: Self control cannot be neglected as an early investor on: January 29, 2024, 03:27:24 AM
I used the money I was supposed to use to lump sum into bitcoin to buy a game. Lame right, very lame. While a lot of persons would talk down on me right now about this cause I know I've messed up and was supposed to say no to that urge to just spend more. Although I've replaced it today with a lot of hard work. I've learnt a lesson. To succeed as an investor you must have self control. I had every reason to say no to the urge to get a game but I didn't. I lacked self control to say no myself and do the right thing.
If anyone must achieve any desire in life, he must have the self control to control his lists cause here I am burning with desire to accumulate bitcoin and this same me went ahead to forfeit it for a game. All I know is I'm never gonna make this same mistake again.
I like the fact that you bring out a real life experience and not some cooked up story that tries to paint the investing journey being easy when it's not!

Self control well I don't know about that...The fact that we have needs, other responsibilities or commitments..DCAing or investing isn't easy and takes alot of sacrifice to succeed in it, and whatever happened in your journey is normal AFAIK and perhaps you need to be saving for two things now...miscellaneous expenses and Bitcoin to try avoid emptying the crypto bag for unforeseen expenses as you can't guarantee this from happening again.
Otherwise, self control alone won't work, it needs a supporting system as advised above and good luck with the DCAing Smiley

437  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: January 27, 2024, 08:51:42 PM
I didn't see any impressive football that Barcelona played in the first half at home, and if they continue this way in the second half, Villa Real might win the match. However, we shouldn't underestimate Barcelona, because they can become deadly in the second half and win all three points.

Barcelona 0-1 Villarreal
Unfortunately Barcelona didn't look hungry enough to complete the comeback and worse off they were at home and the 12th player effect didn't help them either.

But credit should go to Villareal for putting up a brave fight playing away from home and to score five against these big boys..just hope this will be an eye opener for these guys to shake things up to organise the team before they drop more points as they haven't been convincing enough.
438  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: No one has gone broke taking profits, always take profits. on: January 27, 2024, 06:43:47 PM
I started learning how to trade and my teacher just told me this advice that no one has gone broke taking profits when trading.
Best advice!

The problem we tràders tend to have is trying to be selfish with the markets, when it comes to a trade we initially wanted to get profits at 1:3 RR we try to now push for 1:5 without any partial profits and when markets reverse and hits our stop loss we are now in negative without any profits after all the analysis and waiting.

I have always wanted to earn Bitcoin but I have been confused how to start then decided that I'll learn how to trade. I have been reading through the forum and I see lots of advice about holding and it's looking like if you sell you're not doing the correct thing. The first advice I have received is that I should always take profits. My teacher said the profits you take is better than all imagining profits you'll think that you can get in the future if you keep holding. He didn't say holding is bad but I got advice not to neglect the profits that I can take. I got this advice and I want to share it with everyone, always take profits.
I like your mentor, the lesson here is don't be greedy pay yourself while you trading Smiley
439  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Focus on how much you may lose and not only the potential win. on: January 27, 2024, 06:13:08 PM
If someone is always going to be more interested in the potential profit they would win without really worrying much on the likelihood that they would lose money then such a gambler is destined to be chasing losses for failing to apply a good risk management...and this could be an element of someone new to the world  of gambling! Of course not to say this is only done by newbies but veterans can fall in this if greed gets the better of them.

That's one of the key things most gamblers fail to watch out for, how much you can afford to lose.
Most gamblers don't know how bad it is to gambles with what they can't afford to lose, when you gambles with money that puts you at the edge of your seat, you will always be in a mood of panicking.
This whole thing of winning is based on luck, and I guess they try to stretch this luck by going all out without paying attention at how they are losing their money...but I guess at times this strategy can work for others Roll Eyes
440  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: January 27, 2024, 04:40:39 PM
The shocking news I heard this morning is that Klopp will leave Liverpool at the end of this season. This is quite surprising as he thought he had run out of motivation to continue this work. I didn't think that someone like him would suddenly lose motivation like that.
It's not lack of motivation for him calling it quits on Liverpool but the man said wanted to rest which is understandable.

His lifestyle at this point is literally football throughout the Year and being human we need the rest away from your work environment which these guys never get and I think the timing wouldn't be any better as his given the club ample time to scout for other manager's without really putting them in panic mode...and incase someone thought his being wanted elsewhere, he shot this idea quick .. Otherwise in a nutshell his had a great run in England!
