How do you all think will Terrahash deal with the potential for BKK creating the overclocked boards which only hold 14 Avalon chips? Instead of a K16, it will be a K14. Did we pay for the number of chips or the hash rate?

How do we access just the list? I've already entered my data in there. I'm #1190 - trying to see how many chips are before me.
1703  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [ASIC] Avalon Chip Group Purchase : Idaho, USA : 8631 Chips Remaining on: June 22, 2013, 03:23:14 AM
MAn, I was waiting to see what my eta was from TH before deciding on a refund and purchasing from you at BTC.1.

Also, 350 MH/s is not 150% more than other boards. It is 25% more or 1.25 times.
1704  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: TerraHash Order Queue and info on: June 22, 2013, 03:15:49 AM
If we are in the second 20k batch, is it worth it to go through with the order or to find a different route to purchase chips and send them in to be completed with the first batch? Any thoughts on this?

well the 2nd 20k batch has already been ordered, so getting in on a group buy at this point would be no better.  If you could find someone willing to sell their chips from an early group buy then it might be worth it, but the only people I've seen re-selling their chips have been going at a 100% or higher markup from what they paid (which is around a 10% markup from what the group buy organizer paid)

you're gonna end up paying around $20 per chip or more buying someone else's early group buy chips.  On even a 16 chip board that comes out to 320 for chips, plus 90 for assembly, plus shipping chips to you, from you to terrahash, and then shipping of the completed board back to you
you're talking about $420+ for a 16 chip board, that kills return profitability just as much as getting the board later

I know where to get some chips for BTC.1, but I don't know the date of their group buy. I know it is before the last 20k order from TH.

Edit: OK, nevermind, they are raising their price to BTC.2, but they are also working on boards which are going to be OCed to 350 MH/s chip supposedly. These dudes with the group buys are going to shoot themselves in the foot because they are going to be undercut by big board-makers. Then ASICMiner is coming out with their nextgen chips sometime in Oct./Nov.

So has anyone been given a delivery estimate by TerraHash?
1707  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DESIGNING the next generation FAST CRYPTO CURRENCY MINING MACHINE on: June 20, 2013, 09:44:52 PM
I think ASICs may actually help decentralize mining just as the development of ICs and PCs brought centralized mainframes to the "periphery" (the consumer). ASICs make the mining rigs smaller, more attractive, more efficient, less expensive. The key is acceptance... as market capitalization increases, BTC will become more valuable and people will not mind being able to only mine .1 - 1 BTC per year (when 1BTC = $100,000). Mining units will become more user friendly requiring minimal setup - maybe plug and play
1708  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: TerraHash Order Queue and info on: June 20, 2013, 07:48:01 PM
I have fully paid for mine. I also have order #613 with 4 k16's.
Isnt 1 k64 cheaper than 4 k16s?
1709  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Off-Topic on: June 20, 2013, 01:19:05 PM
BitSyncom is certainly ready for these orders Smiley

The bad thing is, difficulty will raise again.
Oh shizzle, Avalon is using lead-free solder. We'll see how long those boards last. I've never seen a lead-free device which produces a lot of heat that didn't fail after about a year of sustained use.

We have cancelled all PayPal/BTC orders that were placed up to 8 hours ago and have not been paid yet. For the orders with Bank Transfer, we will wait till Friday evening, and cancel all the orders that have not been paid till then.

How many (which) orders is that? So we can update the list
1711  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Off-Topic on: June 19, 2013, 09:43:47 PM
I have order #662
1x64
1x16
I still haven't paid yet, but would I be in the first batch with this order #?

If you don't pay by today your order will be canceled. We don't know yet.
1712  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Terracoin, is it dead? on: June 19, 2013, 09:41:51 PM
Not dead. If I've learnt anything about cryptos it's that it's actually surprisingly difficult for a coin to 'die' once it's gained some success. 51% attacks, forks, devs abandoning the project, no-one mining it... and still coins survive. Look at CNC, everyone knows it's crap and yet there she sits not really budging.

I would sell and buy back in when it bottoms out and hits the floor. You can't win all your trades.

You can't know when that is.

Then why create your topic if nothing can be predicted.
Just saying there is no way for me to know exactly when it will bottom out.

Of course. If someone could predict such things exactly they would be mega rich. Terracoin has been freefall for quite a while now and it hasn't stabilized, I know what I would do.
If you look at the charts, its all the alts.
1713  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Terracoin, is it dead? on: June 19, 2013, 08:43:15 PM
What's your opinion regarding some of the other altcoins? Do you not think that they all somewhat share the same fate? Do you expect PPC or NMC to rebound? Personally, I think we may eventually see a bounce, but I'm not sure that we'll ever go above the current price again. In other words, time to think about jumping ship! (Disclaimer: LTC and Ripple are the only alts that I have any faith in currently.)

NMC is a favorite of the pumpers. I think FTC has a shot to do something, it has its own dedicated market, and the developers are looking to implement zerocoin. There are many other things on the table. Other than that, not sure.

Just saying there is no way for me to know exactly when it will bottom out. I created the thread to get some thoughts on whether TRC has potential to rebound or if there is any word on whether the developers have jumped ship.

Please add Order # 452 as mine - DX-Large 10 Module (180 GH) w/ PSU - Hosted

This was paid today by Same Day Wire Transfer (It will likely be marked as paid either today or tomorrow by Terrahash which is within the 2-3 Days needed to maintain Queue Spot)

I will be putting this order up for Auction once it has been marked as paid.

I'm fairly confident this order will be within the first batch (10,000 Chips).

If anyone is interested you can PM me but realise that there WILL be an auction that you will have to post on.

I hope you are left holding the baby - selfish behavior just pushes others back in the queue needlessly - TerraHash please cancel all such orders that you become aware of!

I simply do not understand this reaction. If he wants to resell his order, how exactly does it impact you?? He wants to make a buck like we all do, and if he thinks he will make more by selling the equipment, just like all of the sellers of this gear, then more power to him. Frankly, the majority of the people reacting like this are actually the selfish ones, caring that their precious spot in the queue will be disrupted and trying to move up by accusing others of doing something that they don't approve of.

Wow people, look in the mirror before you judge others, will you? The early bird gets the worm, and it's about 10pm in the ASIC world, so if he wants to maximize his ROI by reselling, who the F cares? We all had the same playbook in front of us, what plays we choose to run is our business. Next time be quicker if you are concerned what others in front of you in the queue are doing.

I understand it, not that I completely agree, but I get it.  It is still unclear whether TH is going to allow re-selling of the pre-orders or not.  I hope not.  I am unsure how I feel about selling an order...  essentially he is buying the machine, a risk, now reselling that risk to another for a even higher degree of risk just to reduce his own initial risk.  It's BFL pre-orders on Ebay all over again.  What I do know is that I got my order in during the very first minute.  I (among others) will be very disappointed if that order is pushed back an extra month or more on top of a 2 month initial wait.  All just because one person wasn't comfortable taking the risk on the hardware that he bought for himself.  If you can't take the risk, you probably shouldn't order in the first place.  Waiting to sell the actual machine (in hand) is a different story, as you are mitigating risk for the buyer (who gets the hardware directly after buying) and yourself (by recovering cost+ on the order), rather than passing 100+% of the risk on to someone who didn't have it together when pre-orders opened in the first place.  For instance, I can't afford a full Large DX so I didn't order one.... but I could have put it on a CC and immediately re-sold the order for a profit.  That wouldn't have been right IMHO, so I didn't do it.

All we can do at this point is wait and hope for good news from TH by email.  If the news is bad, then maybe take the refund and put that money elsewhere.

Exactly, we could have used up the entire first two batches between a couple people by maxing out some cards and selling. I never really thought about doing that. I should have ordered double what I did and sold the other one.

Only curious because I have lost about half my BTC stash with TRC. Wondering whether to just take my losses or hold long term.

I did too...I bought in after the last Fontas "pump" as usually I can net a decent return once they bounce back up, but TRC has just dropped steadily since then :/
right, new low every week. I know that as soon as I sell out there is going to be a rocket ride to .004-.005 again.
1718  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: TerraHash Order Queue and info on: June 19, 2013, 05:23:01 PM
On Paypal my transaction says "complete" but TH says "processing".
1719  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [ASIC] Avalon Chip Group Purchase : Idaho, USA : 8631 Chips Remaining on: June 19, 2013, 05:15:07 PM
So, there aren't going to be any K64 boards only K16s (standard/OC'ed) for $130?
1720  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Terracoin, is it dead? on: June 19, 2013, 03:51:49 PM
I also agree that pre-mining is a simple solution for starting a new coin off right, but the sheer number of new coins started in such a short time to me indicates to me many of them being nothing but a cash grab.  Not saying Terracoin necessarily falls flush into this category.
I'm no programmer either, are these "structural problems" something that can be fixed with developers time?
They were addressed a month or more ago. But there hasn't been any word as of late.
