Taco, I know you are busy, but have you found any solution to that issue after using mining proxy? My entire rig no longer functions.

edit: OK, I removed my v4800 and things are working again - must have been some conflict or something.
1782  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Mining_Proxy.exe gimped my entire system on: April 16, 2013, 03:14:29 PM
Hey,

I was trying to setup stratum with Reaper miner so I ran mining_proxy and eventually my video card which isn't mining crashed (I have a GPU which mines and a Firepro which runs my system). I had to restart the computer and when I did none of my mining software functions properly. Some of them don't function at all and the ones which do only work at half the rate. My Firepro also now has minor crashes consistently.

Does anyone have any idea on what could have caused this? I appreciate any help.

Seems like I can mine TRC on GuiMiner but at half the kH/s as the card is capable.

After trying the mining proxy, my display GPU which isn't even being used to mine crashed completely. I reset and now none of my miners work. Not Guiminer-scrypt (CG), reaper, Guiminer, etc. And the display gpu crashes constantly.

If it's stratum you must use the mining proxy (see sig threads)

Thanks, I missed that.

Attempted to use your settings but Reaper won't connect to my pool.

I have two 7950s and I am able to get between 550-600 kH/s using GuiMiner-scrypt's default 7950 settings. Usually, it is around 560 kH/s. Once it was running stable at 605 kH/s but that was the first time I used it and haven't seen that consistently since, even though I think I am using the same settings.

You have to imagine that many of these stories about higher than normal hash rates are just that - that is how message boards are, there are always those Keyboard commandos that can do the most amazing feats.
1788  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: GUI Miner does nothing after clicking 'Start' on: April 15, 2013, 04:06:17 PM
I have tried it but no matter what settings I put it on it generates very little U and WU - even when the settings are the same as in GuiMiner. I've changed intesnity, gpu and memclocks, thread-concurrency, etc. and it doesn't work. I have achieved 605KH/s in GuiMiner, by just clicking on the preset.

I just got GuiMiner to work with OpenCL but it won't work with CGminer. Perhaps it isn't altering the --scrypt setting?

Thanks for the fast reply.

I was about to buy this saphire....but just realized it does not have the boost :/

I have this card, so far I can mine Bitcoin at 530mh/s with the card overclocked to 1000mhz. Others are able to mine at 550mh/s, with more tweaks and overclocking.

Like Vigil said, it may not be worthwhile at this point, as you could only get 0.03 bitcoin per day. If Bitcoin's price crash to below $50 then you will most likely lose money.

Thanks bitgolfer and Vigil,

Yeah I think I am coming into this at a bad time... my only thing is my computer needs a new video card desperately...so even if I only get 0.03 coins per day I could still break even in about 3 months (as long as they don't mass release any ASIC's)

Hmmmm maybe I should just play it safe and get a 7850 for half the price.....gah sooo torn

But that is at the current rate of difficulty. Whatever you calculate now is only going to be good for a few days, then the diff will increase and a few days later it will increase again. I bought my cards thinking I was going to bring in 200 LTC per month - I will be lucky to mine 100 LTC in 3 months as quickly as the diff is increasing. That is with 1200KH/s. The difficulty has jumped from about 230 to 320 in just the past couple weeks. This time last year I would have been doing great.

But I am running 2x7950s Sapphire - got them for $300 each. they are the Dual X - 100352-2L. They are pretty steady at 550 KH/s each. I have hit 600 Kh/s but it isn't consistent. GuiMiner default settings have worked better than anything for me.

Are you still sending out TRC?

If so, Thanks.
1791  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / GUI Miner does nothing after clicking 'Start' on: April 15, 2013, 04:46:49 AM
Hey,

Been trying to setup GuiMiner for terracoin mining and have had numerous problems with it. I am currently running GuiMiner-scrypt for LTC and working fine. Anyway...

Initially I had everything setup and once I would click Start I would get "ValueError: need more than 1 value to unpack". It didn't matter whether I tried to mine BTC or TRC. Now, I click Start and absolutely nothing happens. I can click Start a million times and it just sits there like I didn't do anything.

Here is what the Console is putting out:

2013-04-15 00:35:13: Running command: cgminer.exe -u username -p password -o http://www.coinotron.com:3335 -d 2 -l 1 -T

I'd appreciate any help as I would really like to be able to switch between LTC and TRC. Thanks.

You'll get much more for your money if you just buy coins. I made the mistake of jumping into mining.
1793  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Mining: Where's the catch? on: April 15, 2013, 03:50:46 AM
^ The point the OP is making is that it seems like easy money, he isn't asking what mining is or what it involves or any of that. OP is wondering what the catch is to this apparent guaranteed money.
1794  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Guiminer shows up in tray but not on Desktop on: April 15, 2013, 02:15:29 AM
Found the solution:

Quote
Open up a guiminer and click elsewhere to lose focus
In the taskbar, left-click once on the Guiminer icon so it gains focus
Now, press "ALT-Space" (you will see a menu appear were guiminer should be)
Press "M" to choose the Move option (your cursor will now turn into four arrow points).
Press any of the cursor keys once (this will move your guimineron the screen and it will be captured by the mouse)
Move your mouse about and you will see the guiminer moving with it
Left-Click to "drop" guiminer onto your desktop
1795  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Mining: Where's the catch? on: April 15, 2013, 02:02:42 AM
If you already have the hardware... I didn't have the hardware. But at this point, unless you have had the hardware, like a 5GH/s rig for LTC, for a while and have it paid off it isn't really worth it. I didn't realize it wasn't worth it until I saw the difficulty jumping every two days.
1796  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Mining: Where's the catch? on: April 15, 2013, 01:29:36 AM
The catch is that the difficulty keeps increasing. You are calculating at that difficulty for the whole month. Example, I calculated the profits a week ago for 2x7950s for Litecoin mining. It came out to be over $800/month. then the price dropped in half and the difficulty has gone up twice since then. The monthly profitability for the current difficulty is $200. So, initially I would be bringing in 200+ coins per month, it is now down to 130 at the current difficulty. So, I will be lucky to break even just on these two cards, and mine about 100 litecoins over the next 3 months. At current price that is $250 for 3 months - cards cost $600. Of course the coins could increase in value to say $10, but that is still only $1000.

Thanks, but I have done both multiple times. I have deleted and downloaded and installed multiple times as well.
1798  Other / Beginners & Help / Guiminer shows up in tray but not on Desktop on: April 14, 2013, 11:43:43 PM
Hello,

So, I run Guiminer-scrypt fro Litecoin and it works fine, I was running Guiminer for bitcoin/terracoin and it worked fine, but all of a sudden it no longer works. The Icon shows up in the task bar and in the tray but the GUI will not show on the Desktop. I have downloaded the latest files and still doesn't work. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

1800  Other / Beginners & Help / Legality of trading on BTC-e.. on: April 09, 2013, 07:23:01 PM
Hey, just wondering if anyone has any information regarding the legality of making trades on BTC-e from the US. I know there are various laws in place but not sure what applies or where to find them. I have heard that it isn't illegal to trade virtual currencies but maybe the issue arises when converting to dollars? Any information will be helpful.
