I'm order 1432...I think I'll be waiting a while. My ghetto-fabulous setup will have to hold for a bit. Smiley

That reminds me, we should totally introduce a range made out of recycled garbage. We could call it Derelict.

Wow, I didn't realize port-to-port time was 22 days!  Glad I upgraded to EMS.  Hopefully I'm mounting cards in under two weeks!

EMS times to the US have been really decent for us of late - check this for example: https://tools.usps.com/go/TrackConfirmAction!input.action?tRef=qt&tLc=1&tLabels=EE028408333ZA. From the moment we got customs pre-clearance finalised on that parcel (around Jan 15th) to final delivery was a week on the nose.

Heya - how hard would it be to add BIP-38 for brainwallet addresses? You already have an implementation for paper wallet addresses, but adding it to brainwallets would dramatically increase security on them (imho).

I dont think that's possible as there's nothing to encrypt.

Huh? As far as I understand it, BIP-38 encrypts the private key? So confused right now, lol.

Sounds like there is an opportunity for a reseller to buy in bulk from you... or, more likely, a US competitor.

Where do you get your aluminum from? Cheesy

Even in bulk it'll still be more expensive - and local manufacturers will struggle to compete price-wise. South Africa is a little like China and India in that labour is cheap and plentiful, which lowers operational costs both for our raw material suppliers and for our manufacturing:)
2085  Other / Archival / Re: [ANN] OpenRigs.com - Aluminium Frames for Mining Rigs on: January 20, 2014, 06:14:49 PM
Same here... but it's our fault for not paying extra for a different delivery method.  I didn't realize how long it would take to get from South Africa to the USA.

Mine shipped almost a month ago.  My tracking has been stuck on "Origin Post is Preparing Shipment" since Jan 9th.  Ordered on November 30th.

IMO, this looks like a good product but there are some logistic problems with shipping world wide.  You would benefit from distributors in the USA and Europe that can ship the product quickly to customers.

Use http://globaltracktrace.ptc.post/gtt.web/ instead of USPS' tracking, they don't read the "Departure from outward office of exchange" status correctly (ie. when it left the country). Bear in mind that typical vessel times from Cape Town to New York = 22 days plus processing/import on either side, which is why we say 4-6 weeks of actual shipping for surface mail.

We are busy finalising arrangements with a distributor in the US, but it will be significantly more expensive - LCL shipping to the US plus local carriage to the warehouse, storage costs, the distributor's profit, picking and packing fees, packaging material, and finally local shipping all need to be amortised and added as an (expensive) shipping option. It will be higher than surface mail costs, and will either meet or be a little less than EMS costs, which means 85% of our customers will disregard the option and choose the cheap one;)

Ordered my package in the beginning of December and still no product arriving, anyone get anything yet?

Let me take a looksie for you - what's your order number?
2087  Other / Archival / Re: [ANN] OpenRigs.com - Aluminium Frames for Mining Rigs on: January 20, 2014, 02:42:25 PM
Tracking info was a bit flaky there but its working again for me now with no issues.

Looks like my frames could finally be on the same landmass as me so hopefully they dont take too long.

Once they arrive i'll build them and get a few photos up of a completed rig for you guys in the coming days

Looks like it went out for delivery this morning (track it on ParcelForce), so you should receive it shortly:)

All in that was surprisingly fast - once the post office got to yours in the queue it was 4 days (including a weekend) from when it left the local postal hub to when it arrived at your local ParcelForce hub. Customs pre-clearance (and EMS) FTW!

You can message me and that would be fantastic Smiley thanks and sorry again.

I'll get the support team to check up on it and mail you by close-of-business today:)

What's up with people relying so badly on javascript, specially when you are inside a browser, to perform such sensitive tasks ?

Because it's completely client-side, so nothing touches their server. You can also save the HTML file to disk and use it on an air-gapped machine (ala WarpWallet). That can't be done on a server-side app. Also, JavaScript in an HTML page is a LOT simpler to do than writing a cross-platform app from scratch to do the same thing.

Your SPF DNS record doesn't allow Gmail to send on behalf of your domain (openrigs.com). Fixing that should resolve the issue.

ie, "v=spf1 mx ptr a:geartri.be a:mailer.openrigs.com include:_spf.google.com ~all"

Thanks - I've made the change, but I'm confused...the mails are going from mailer.openrigs.com to a server as dictated by gmail.com's MX record...why does it need to have anything other than a:mailer.openrigs.com to allow it? My SPF-fu is bad:)

Thanks for sticking around the forum and fielding all of our concerns. It's good to get consistent feedback.

It's a pleasure - and thank YOU for ordering from our first batch and putting up with the year-end delays:)
2093  Other / Archival / Re: [ANN] OpenRigs.com - Aluminium Frames for Mining Rigs on: January 17, 2014, 06:04:38 AM
Looking at upgrading my shipping.  Can you tell me the differences between EMS and insured air mail?

Sure - what you can do is add the items you ordered to your cart on OpenRigs, and then view your cart and use the Shipping Estimator to see your options and their costs. Obviously we would deduct the amount you already paid for shipping. Once you've decided on the change, then let the support team know (info@openrigs.com) how you'd like to pay the difference and they'll finalise it for you.
2094  Other / Archival / Re: [ANN] OpenRigs.com - Aluminium Frames for Mining Rigs on: January 17, 2014, 05:30:19 AM
Yeah... we're nearing two months since purchase and I have no product. WTFoxtrot. Yes, out of everyone's hands, problems here and there, and it's on some tugboat in the pacific ocean or some shit. Whatever the case is, I'm close to rage factor 10.

Constructive feedback:

I see a "update" in the USPS system...

Processed Through Sort Facility
CAPETOWN D SURF/ECONOMY/SAL PARCELS, SOUTH AFRICA

Oh, well that's exciting.

6 days later...

Woooosaahhh  Lips sealed Wink

I feel you - we're actively taking steps to improve the situation going forward, not only for the rest of the year when there isn't a post office/customs backlog, but this coming December/January period as well. We're also making big changes to our JIT tail so that we carry more buffer stock and can push orders out faster. Whilst we can't do anything about the sea journey part of the process, we're actively working with a US distributor to see how best to hold and replenish stock in the US, which will be more expensive than surface mail shipping, but will obviously be a lot faster.

Can you please check ID: 748. I received my last email on Dec. 5 where you mailed me that my order is in fabrication.

Ah - you ordered with a Gmail account, Gmail are marking our mails as spam. I've passed this on to the support team to re-update your order and let you know:)
2096  Other / Archival / Re: [ANN] OpenRigs.com - Aluminium Frames for Mining Rigs on: January 16, 2014, 03:01:45 PM
I've had things from China make it in that time frame as well as much longer.
fluffypony , can you check on order #1125?

Sure thing - it went into fab on the 8th, and is being checked and packed to ship out on Monday:)
2097  Other / Archival / Re: [ANN] OpenRigs.com - Aluminium Frames for Mining Rigs on: January 16, 2014, 02:59:43 PM
Does it usually take over 16 days to send stuff from SA to US?  Honest question, because I've gotten things from China within 5-10 days.

Definitely - small parcels from China are typically sent airmail, which is significantly faster. Surface mail is by boat, which means the vessel needs to get to its destination port and then you have the import cycle. As you've seen with the shipping options we offer, though, airmail is also prohibitively more expensive:)
2098  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: scammed on Alibaba.com for mining equipment on: January 16, 2014, 01:12:47 PM
Scammed by the same person. We've been getting a ton of pressure to add accessories to OpenRigs, so I bought a large number of PCI-e risers from "Joy" at SXJD Electronic. She was listed as one of the two contacts on SXJD Electronic's website, and according to the Alibaba profile they've had on-site visits from Alibaba staff and have had their legal status verified. I would never have made the purchase if they weren't verified.

I have a sneaky suspicion that the SXJD Electronic profile on Alibaba and the scammers who were operating sxjd-electronic.com aren't the same people, though.

Looks like we weren't the only ones: http://www.scamguard.com/categories/online-scam/sxjd-electroniccom/4282/took-wired-money-and-did-not-deliver-product/

Beautiful frames. I was set to buy two a week ago, but realized during checkout that the shipping to my location doubled the price and estimate said it would take a month to arrive. Going to try a wood frame in the next few days. Worse case, I'm out $20 and pick up one of these beauties.

I was a bit turned away a bit from how wide they are, but there is also nothing else like them for the price. They could be shorter, allowing 19cm pci-e extensions to reach further horizontally, allowing the motherboard to be moved over and fit the psu's under the videocards? I'm mining in a home and using it as a winter spaceheater.

It's a bit of a yes-and-no argument. Our designs are primarily designed to reduce heat, as the typical use-case is people who are tired of 90 C GPUs and want their GPUs to run cooler. We tried smaller versions, but when you reduce the space between the cards significantly you may as well not even bother. The heat map at 6cm (back to front spacing between cards) is horrible compared to 8cm. Our thinking is that the whole point of an open frame is to let the heat disperse naturally and evenly. When we have some time we'll be put up thermal imaging (FLIR) photos of rigs running at different space points to demonstrate the heat dispersion at more compact intervals, but trust me when I say that more compact is non-optimal:)
