101  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Staking on a mobile device? on: October 10, 2019, 02:22:54 AM
I know that there's been a few cryptocurrencies around (like Phoneum and Electroneum) which allow you to "mine" coins on your phone or tablet. This is great for the average person, as it allows them to secure the network (while getting paid in return) without much effort.
-snip-
FYI, Electroneum mobile miner doesn't even mine at all, it's just a micro-airdrop for their fanboys.
Phoneum however implements "cloud-based mining" exclusively for mobile Roll Eyes that I have no idea how it works.
Currently, there's no "real" mobile mining (POW).

At least for POS, the only drawback for mobile is the storage capacity.
That's doable (other than SPV) if there's such a "pruned node" (<-from Bitcoin) version of POS Altcoins.

Electroneum mobile miner doesn't mine? For all this time i avoided Electroneum first because they screwed over investors by allowing miners to sell first and secondly because i heard their mobile miner causes phones to overheat and die.

If only Electroneum still had value today.
102  Economy / Economics / Re: If you want to be rich..! on: October 10, 2019, 02:18:28 AM
When someone want to be rich they can't make it possible by working 10 to 5  everyday,so what are the things we have to do to make ourselves rich at the right age.

We need to have more income sources like four or five different fields to ensure our constant earnings even if one or two things get us into losses temporarily.Make your investment as early as you can then only you can start making money and remember to save it.

On the contrary, it is very much possible to become rich by working 10 to 5 if you plan it right! Having extra income source is definitely a cherry on the top of the cake. But when someone says, we can't become rich by working from 10 to 5, I only see a pessimistic person crying foul over his own fate!

In the project management field, we often make a statement - "Plan your work, work your plan and your plan will work". This statement is more true than you can possibly even think! A perfect and realistic plan always works! Yes, there will always be hiccups but the end goal will always be met if we stays on track! Start investing at early age is one of the key to become rich at right age! It is very much achievable from a 10 to 5 job!

This is true. You can't just be rich and not work unless you want to rely on trust funds from your parents.

If you want to be your own success, then you'll definitely have to work, and a 9-5 job is a great way to grow and learn. I'd personally never know the things i know today without ever working a real job. It gives you much experience and allows you to connect to more people too.
103  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Lowest trading fees here? on: October 10, 2019, 02:06:55 AM
I took a look at the website, Coinmetro looks promising.

For one, i noticed it's a hell of a lot more modern than most exchanges i've seen out there. The user interface seems very friendly but i'm worried of how the trading experience feels like. I can't imagine how all the stylish effects could have a negative effect on trading speed?
104  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Please Rate my new portfolio on: October 10, 2019, 01:47:14 AM

Cardano    22.50%
Holochain  13.04%
Iota          11.35%
Neo           9.76%
Stellar       9.44%
Nano         8.90%
Vechain      5.61%
PundiX       4.69%
Apollo        3.85%
Quant        3.43%
Harmony    1.99%
Own           1.72%
Swarm        1.00%
Bomb          0.60%
OceanEx      0.59%

I'd say Cardano, IOTA, Pundix are the winners.

However, too much diversification can also be bad especially now that bitcoin dominance is peaking and altcoin values are plumetting. My opinion is to just sell off all altcoins aside from those three and just invest in bitcoin directly.
105  Economy / Economics / Re: IS 5G AN OPPORTUNITY FOR CRYPTO TO GO MAIN STREAM? on: October 09, 2019, 08:17:43 AM
One of the hottest and most anticipated upcoming technology trends for 2019 is the Fifth Generation (5G) wireless network technology. Rumored to start the new internet of things epoch! Knowing that there is a lot of crypto startups that are using blockchain for various interconnectivity applications and purposes, do you think this might be a good chance for crypto to go more mainstream implementing itself with the new opportunity for decentralized data storing and thus decentralized internet of things?

It's an opportunity for the internet to be more powerful in all industries.

Personally, 5G has been introduced in our country for about a few months to a year now, yet i still don't feel it's adoption (i even bought a 5G capable phone). So although not directly, i imagine crypto will be affected towards the better as well, in due time but not anytime soon.
106  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Newbie should trade or not? Please give me idea. on: October 09, 2019, 06:50:19 AM
Hello every body.I am a Newbie. I joined Crytopia about four months ago. I hold ont and dog Now I want to practice to trade .Please help me give some idea for Newbie as me, I should trade or not? I really want to receive the instruction of the go-ahead, thank a lots.  Kiss Kiss

Cryptopia? That exchange closed four months ago.

Unless you refer to something else, this goes to show how many people blindly post replies here. Cryptopia is a scam exchange that swindled people of millions because unlike other exchanges who closed down business, they never allowed people to withdraw their money. Without even being hacked, no grace period, no timeframe, no considerations at all. Just pure money grabbing.
107  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Biggest altcoin portfolio on: October 09, 2019, 06:47:39 AM
What's the biggest altcoin portfolio you have ever come across?
For me, it is 25K xrp, 4.5k eth.

When you say come across do you mean this is something you personally owned or simply something you saw in an online wallet (lol)?

4.5k eth is close to manipulation levels. I'd be surprised if you actually had that amount of crypto because if so you'd probably not be here in this forum and instead be on a beach sipping on coconuts while naked ladies sip on something else (not my dream).
108  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum Still Believe in 2.0 on: October 09, 2019, 06:15:44 AM
This is big. If ETH 2.0 will not be able to build on ETH 1's tokens and contracts then that would be a big blow to the coin. Many people have already built businesses and services which are dependent on ETH's current blockchain.

I suspect and worry that if ETH 2.0 becomes a new coin then it could be the result of Ethereum's downfall. Many people will be disappointed and just move on to a new platform.
109  Economy / Economics / Re: Which currency will dominate the crypto market? Please vote! on: October 09, 2019, 06:11:12 AM
It's funny how USD is on the voting list when it's not even a cryptocurrency.

On the other hand, i find that Bitcoin is the only real competitor when it comes to cryptocurrencies and real world adoption. Unfortunately the other altcoins have proven themselves too slow to growth or adoption. Even Ethereum is hard pressed to churn out new developments, but hopefully i am proven wrong soon.
110  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: I just SOLD my girlfriends car to buy more ETH at sale price :) on: October 09, 2019, 04:30:33 AM
Funny seeing this now after a year and after ETH's value has nose dived.

In this scenario, you'd obviously you'd have been better off with a car. Too bad for your girlfriend now, but just hodl and wait and maybe we'll see if the car can be turned into a lambo. Hopefully by next year when ETH goes to proof-of-stake you'll have your redemption. 🚗
111  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: short term or long term investing on: October 09, 2019, 03:18:52 AM
In crypto, i'd argue that the best approach would always be long term. Just take a look at the people who bought bitcoin when it was only valued at less than $1, their investment has grown so much that if they'd kept at least 100 bitcoin they could probably already retire by now.

On the other hand, short term or day trading can also be prove profitable but you'd need to do a lot of research and analysis, as well as a lot of luck.
112  Economy / Economics / Re: Hong kong and China war can lead to possible Bitcoin popularity on: October 09, 2019, 02:58:05 AM
We all know that China doesnt want to be involved on cryptocurrency for some reasons but after whats happening to China and Hong Kong, it seems like bitcoin would be the main option.

The two countries are currently under stress because People in Hong Kong vehemently oppose a proposed bill, which would give authorities the power to deport those suspected of crimes to mainland China.

Hong Kong people obviously engaged in a rally for them to change the leader's mind. With this, the people, most specially rich ones wanted to withdraw all their money in China or makes it anonymous that's why they are eyeing on bitcoin as the main option for transferring of wealth.

We dont want to have this kind of war between people or countries. Even though it will be a good way of boosting bitcoin, i hope it will not end in that way and resolve the problem of both countries. Its still not safe there till now. Lets pray for the people's safety.

Here's the full article
https://bitcoinist.com/hong-kong-protest-china-bitcoin-assets-offshore/

Although i don't believe the issue with Hong Kong and China is not so much a financial hot topic compared to Zimbabwe's inflation crisis, it could still be an opportunity to see bitcoin and cryptocurrency adoption rates to rise.

I'm no expert but it's easy to imagine that political turmoil can lead to devaluation of a country's economy so people who will seek to preserve value of their money will transfer funds into foreign funds or better yet bitcoin.
113  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: How can we stop centralized exchanges from manipulating the price of tokens on: October 09, 2019, 02:07:52 AM
While everyone keeps have individual opinions and speculations on the next prices of cryptos, especially on the next altcoin season, I'll say we are moving nowhere because of price manipulation by exchanges. The actions of some exchanges is dropping the prices of tokens unnaturally and these affects market and industry confidence. How can we attract new money into the market when top wash trading exchanges like Bitforex and Bibox still exists and deceives people freely?

I don't need to add links to prove, but just google these exchanges and add the wash trading to your search term, you'll be marvelled at the results you'll find.

It's true. These exchanges only want to rise in rankings so thats why they fake volume. Because really, there are very few people who continue to trade altcoins today especially in this bear market. The only thing i see that we can do is continue to support and promote crypto towards the goal of seeing mass adoption grow. Only when mass adoption grows only then will these manipulators be hard pressed because the cost of manipulation will be too much.
114  Economy / Economics / Re: stupidity is so close to poverty on: October 08, 2019, 03:30:15 PM
stupidity is so close to poverty, do you agree with such a phrase?
if it yes, means the poor are the fools.
I want to know your opinion.  Grin Grin

I strongly disagree.

There have been lots of cases where people have proven your statement wrong. I'm sure you've heard the common story of dirt poor individuals who become rich entrepreneurs through perseverance, hard work, and even a bit of luck. It is just ignorant to say that poor people are stupid.
115  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: If bnb overtakes eth on: October 08, 2019, 02:53:25 PM
I am trying to decipher what the future holds for eth, asides its smart contract purposes which of course bnb can offer, what else do you think will help keep eth relevant. Because I see some projects trying to migrate to binance chain, I see that it won't end well for eth as long as bnb keeps improving.

I highly doubt BNB can take over ETH. Near impossible if you ask me.

Even if you say that there are other projects starting to migrate to the Binance chain, take note that there are already hundreds if not thousands of projects already being run on Ethereum. A simple BNB coin simply cannot compete with the complexity of smart contract capable ETH. And thats not counting the incoming upgrades with ETH 2.0 and proof-of-stake.
116  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Stake vs Fixed bounty allocation on: October 08, 2019, 02:19:54 PM
With stake allocation you can get more tokens based on the stake and how many participants join the bounty but that's that, the reason why I choose fixed allocation over stake is because right from the start you've know how much tokens you will get and the fact is merely looking or comparing bounties from one to another fixed bounty allocation performs better, they pays most times and no single participants is left out, what do you guys say about this?

I'd also go for fixed bounty allocation.

With stakes, it's easy for the bounty campaign manager to simply add fake accounts to the participants list and then as a result see a decrease in everyone's payouts. There is simply too much trust placed upon the bounty creators when stakes are used. Better to join fixed bounties where you at least are guaranteed reward you are amenable to.
117  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin adoption rising in NGO sector: Report on: October 08, 2019, 09:55:50 AM
The real question is whether the NGOs immediately sell their crypto for fiat, or whether they then use it to buy services in the target sector using crypto. lf they did the latter, then adoption would soar in places like Africa.

Nice find! It's encouraging NGOs use bitcoin to further their goals.

However, if i had to speculate i imagine that NGOs immediately sell their crypto for fiat in order to maintain operations. Speaking from experience with working with an NGO directly, i can say that not all NGOs are rich and are often hard pressed by budgetary concerns. Hopefully in the future more services open up to crypto, especially in the social sector, and NGOs spend directly on these instead of converting to fiat.
118  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do You Compare Your Trading ideas with others ? on: October 08, 2019, 09:30:49 AM
Comparing trades is not a bad idea, if you do it to learn, from mistakes, for how to improve, or even to simply yearn for something better. However, comparing can also be destructive if done in such a way that breeds envy and greed.

Remember that the grass will always be greener on the other side, the secret to success and happiness is being content with what you have.
119  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Tired of waiting? on: October 08, 2019, 08:45:49 AM
If the bear market stays longer than expected will you take your leave and forget cryptocurrency ever existed? But the marketcap is getting larger and larger is that not enough to change your minds and stay?

Definitely not. Great rewards await those who are patient. I've been into cryptocurrency since 2016 and i've learned time and again that cryptocurrency is here to stay. Instead of investing on traditional stocks or funds that gain, what 3-5% per year (??), i'm in it for the long term with bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

Even if the marketcap grows larger or smaller, i believe in the value and potential crypto has to offer.
120  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is regulation good or bad? on: October 08, 2019, 08:04:28 AM
One can't simply think in terms of black and white, whether if regulation is good or bad, because it can be both. It can be good if regulation brings about greater public adoption, or it can also be bad if regulation oversteps its boundaries and defeats the purpose of having a decentralized currency.

In the end, whats important is that more people are made aware of cryptocurrency, its use, and its potential.
