701  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trader or Gamblers. on: April 18, 2018, 07:27:15 AM
In coin trading, you are your only enemy. There are no rules in this arena, only you facing you, and you are both winner and loser.
People may think that they are fighting with the market, other investors, or those scammers shark that always have their eyes on your money. In fact, you are fighting against yourself. You are the one who made the decision. You can decide yourself to lose or win, trust me.

As human nature, we all want to make a bunches and make it fast; too much temptation that incites us to gamble with our account.
In the end, only you can chase off the temptation to follow the plan.

I completely agree. Whether or not you are day trading for a large investment bank or day trading from your bed at home, trading is akin to gambling, most especially in the cryptocurrency industry. Everything is so volatile and susceptible to pumps and dumps that are influenced by news, personalities, and even simple tweets. Unlike traditional stocks, technical analysis are thrown out the window and a tweet from McAfee can change your fortune overnight.

It's a big risk but at the same time can also be done right to yield big wins. Probably why so many people have become addicted to it.
702  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If you had to put all of your money into only 1 crypto, which would it be? on: April 18, 2018, 01:12:20 AM
Assuming this is a real question and not just a shill post about your masternode coin, ETHEREUM is the best crypto investment today.

Why? Ethereum's focus is entirely on blockchain development and catering to businesses that could benefit from deploying blockchain. This means it's targeting banks that would relish cross-border transactions that complete in seconds or minutes compared to wait times of up to three to five days with the current banking system. That is valuable. No other coin does it on the level of Ethereum. That is worth more than what Ethereum is valued at today.
703  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: AI needs Crypto to reach its full potential without ending the world on: April 18, 2018, 12:30:46 AM
First of all welcome to the forums! It's refreshing to see insight like this apart from the usual regular spam and shilling that gets posted here daily.

I completely agree that AI would be an excellent use case for crypto. I can however understand the silence in congress because crypto is really still at its infancy stages and how lawmakers probably don't have time to keep updated on the latest tech news. In any case, do you know of any AI projects that are worth investing in?
704  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Verge sucked with its Pornhub partnership! on: April 17, 2018, 03:37:23 PM
While many people see it as a useless or negative partnership, it could potentially be a good financial move for verge. Why? Porn is a very big industry and pornhub actually is if not the largest, one of the largest porn websites in the entire world. I'm not completely in agreement to Verge's partnership but i could see why morals aside, the partnership will bring big money. This is actually big for Verge and more than what other coins have accomplished.
705  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Building Cheap Miners : My "Secret" on: April 17, 2018, 09:01:22 AM

Question on running off 16GB usb flash drives. Do these wear out pretty fast and die? When I tried running off a flash drive for HiveOS the flash drives died in about a week because of the constant log writing that was going on.

I'm using Sandisk USB 3.0 16MB sticks with no problems so far.  I did have a few issues early on with some cheap no name sticks.

The R815's, while power hogs are work horses.  They just plug away like nothing is wrong and require minimal baby sitting.

I'm having an issue getting more than 4 cards working on the 580s under Windows.  Two separate boxes lock up with 5 Nvidia cards connected.  I will try hive OS next.

Hows the servers working for yall?

Just realized your a fellow container farmer like myself, but i have mine setup on an all watercooled setup to control temps... how have you managed to control temps in yours?

mine is located in Florida, i bought some property that had 2 old mobile home pads with separate power panels that old abandoned burned down mobile homes lived once a long time ago...... Picked up the property for little to nothing and settled with the county to offset all the fees tacked on the property from all the junk and 2 abandoned mobiles if i cleaned it all up and got rid of the junk... so i spent a few months burning junk from the 80's lol....

I'm new to using USBs to run OSs for mining. Is it possible to use or does anyone have experience running Windows as an OS on these USBs? or do i need a custom mining OS like Hive or EthOs? I'm familiar with linux/ubuntu as well but windows is just way user friendly for configuring and remote troubleshooting.
706  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Adrenalin Driver and %15 hash increase? on: April 17, 2018, 08:43:43 AM
Does anyone know why my hashrate decreased with adrenaline 18.3.3, before using this driver I'm used blockchain driver and it's better than adrenaline. I've changed my graphic to compute mode, but the hashrate can't same with blockchain driver

More details about your problem will probably help us help you.

1. What GPU do you have?
2. What are coin are you mining?
3. What mining software are you using?
4. What was your hashrate then and now?
5. What are your overlcock settings?
707  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: If ETH price exceed the BTC's on: April 17, 2018, 08:40:30 AM
Usually referred to as the "flippening," ETH definitely has the potential to exceed BTC's price. I like many other don't know what will happen when it does happen but here are some possible reasons WHY it will happen:

1. The majority of coins on Coin Market Cap are actually Ethereum-based tokens.
2. Ethereum’s transaction costs are fractions of what Bitcoin’s transactions cost.
3. The upcoming Casper update, which introduces Proof of Stake, is going to be very revolutionary for Ethereum.
708  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Buying GPU.. need suggestions on: April 17, 2018, 08:21:19 AM
I would not buy now with new nvidia gpus comming and all the asic popping up.

I completely agree with this guy. Not advisable to buy GPUs this late. There is the threat of ASICs (for Ethereum and other algos/coins), the upcoming ETH switch to POS (end of mining), and more. Basically the risks are stacked against you at this point.

Unless you already have the hardware, it may no longer be wise to start mining today.
709  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Looking for daily close prices of expired futures contracts on bitmex. on: April 17, 2018, 06:44:43 AM
You could probably find this on the bitmex site itself.

Do you know how to code? You could use the bitmex API to fetch data: https://www.bitmex.com/app/apiOverview
Otherwise, hire a coder like me.

If you also don't have money to spare, the simplest solution would be to login and check the charts yourself, per day. It's a manual and time consuming but you would get what you need.
710  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Rx 580 hashrates up and down on: April 17, 2018, 06:39:56 AM
More details would allow us to help you more.

-If you are referring to unstable hashrates as seen in your miner, then you probably have something wrong overclock settings or some other program is using your GPUs as well.
-If you are reffering to unstable hashrates as seen in your mining pool's monitor, you are probably looking at calculated hashrates vs. accepted shares. Whenever you mine, you earn shares, this is also dependent on luck so sometimes you get more shares, sometimes you get less, regardless of your miner's hashrate.

712  Economy / Gambling / Re: Crypto Sportz - Smart Contract Betting Using Ethereum on: April 10, 2018, 02:19:44 AM
Kudos to the CryptoSportz team. This is the essence of what blockchain dapps are built for - a simple application that has a real (and actually fun) use case.

I guess it was eventually time for some people to develop a dapp this nice and smooth. As a developer myself, i see a lot of work and thought has been put into the user interface. But more than the user interface, i love how everything is well handled. I was actually trying to find some bugs and trying to input random and wrong values but i found no loopholes. Everything seems to be intact and in order.

Good luck and good job to CryptoSportz. I hope people get addicted to betting on your platform!  Smiley

714  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Strange power problems on: April 06, 2018, 01:39:39 AM
Try plugging your rig into the socket/outlet directly. You may have a bad surge protector or it's designed to shut off at specific loads we have no idea about.

I had the exact same problem a few months back. I tried changing everything from drivers, to risers, to cables, to PSUs. Turns out that the problem was that my extension cord / surge protector for some reason automatically turns itself of. Never would have noticed it until i sat beside it for an hour and saw it right before my eyes, the surge protector's switch simply turned itself off.

I've since them switched to an extension cord without any switches at all. Been running a stable rig ever since.
715  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum ASIC Miner - Bitmain Antminer E3 and How YOU can help Hardfork ETH on: April 05, 2018, 11:50:51 PM
I fully agree.  People need to be careful what they wish for.  An algo change could easily propel Ethereum Classic above ETH. Why would anyone invest in a technology that shows its willingness to change rules on a whim.

Given your argument, one could also say a lack of algo change could easily propel ETH below Ethereum Classic. Why would anyone invest in a technology that is not willing to adapt to changes?

As a GPU miner, i'm all for banning ASICs to keep my rigs profitable. As an investor, i'd still vote for banning ASICs to ensure no single company monopolizes the mining industry.
716  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jackpot...... on: April 04, 2018, 01:15:26 AM
maybe that is a sign that you are lucky in gambling and you should do it because that would gives you profits in the long run.

Actually, that could have been that he was lucky but that is no indication of profit in the long run. Remember that based on the odds, the house always wins in the end. Unless you play smart, the more you play, the more chances you have of losing.

Too many a time have I won a lot but then risked it all again to end up having nothing. Set a target for your profits and walk away once you get there. And have fun gambling Smiley
717  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain E3 Ethash Miner ASIC (Shipping:16-31 July. $800 USD) on: April 03, 2018, 04:23:01 PM
While the efficiency is not to good, the price somewhat makes it a potentially attractive investment. At the current cost of GPUs today you couldn't compare buying a 1070 at $600 that does around 31 MH to this ASIC that costs $800 but does 6 times more hashrate at 180 MH.

It makes the rich who moved mining operations to low-cost electricity areas even richer. The only downside is the 3 month delivery time. That is a long time in crypto and a lot could already happen by then. Makes it too much of a gamble for me.
718  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Erc20 contract, send 0 eth to get free token with custom gas on: April 02, 2018, 05:57:12 AM
Im wondering, there are many scammer clone a legit token
Ex:  insr ( fake insureum ) and isr ( Real insureum )
The only way to het insr is to send 0 eth to contract address
My question is, what the scammer get? How? Can you explain? Thanks

Sorry my english is bad

If users send 0 ETH, then the scammer gets nothing. I wouldn't immediately assume that he/she is scamming as it could probably an attempt to learn how to create and use Ethereum tokens.  We all have to start somewhere. On the other hand, if you really believe its a scam then he/she could possibly be doing it using other means (maliciously storing the user's password upon registration then attempting to use this to login to other accounts/emails, etc.).
719  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [mining crisis!] prohashing vs nanopool, or...? on: April 02, 2018, 04:54:29 AM
Congratulations on the stable rigs and hashrate you got there. This is the first time i've heard of prohashing and i must say they seem to have a very comprehensive and professional looking website.

My only concern is that they don't have Ethash? Given that most of your rigs are currently mining ETH i can imagine you have AMD cards. If that is the case they will also probably better for mining ethash at the moment so even if prohashing can mine a multitude of coins for you, their algorithms are probably best suited for NVIDIA cards and we may end up earning even less.
720  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Start Mining on: April 02, 2018, 04:13:46 AM
So better start mining with Ether then

If you really want to, you can still earn bitcoin directly by mining using your GPUs. The way it works is that you join an mining pool like Nicehash which automatically converts the altcoins you mine directly into bitcoin. You mine alts but get paid in bitcoin. Checkout it out and do some reading on nicehash.com.
