981  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Zenash Secure Nodes could help increase price. on: November 26, 2017, 12:26:11 AM
Kudos to the zencash team. I initially thought this was a shitcoin that was going to die early but i've been proven wrong time and again.
I now have one of my GPUs pointed to zencash mining not just because of FOMO but hopefully to help the networks as well.

I'm interested in running a node of zencash. Can you give details on how you figured the 5-8 zencash per month reward?

P.S. i think theres a typo on your thread title. Zenash
982  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1070 TI rig with nvOC - optimizing settings on: November 25, 2017, 11:41:27 PM
The main objective of this threat is to find the best settings for the 1070 ti on nvOC (should be similar for the 1070) in some of the most profitable coins to mine.
Zcash
ZenCash
Vertcoin
Ethereum

I'm going to start with zencash, that im mining at the moment, the rig is been working for the last 12hrs stable on this settings:
Powerlimit: 115wats
Core: 105
Memory: 1400
Fan: 85

I'm getting temperatures around 68oC to 72oC and getting a stable 475sol per card, with a efficiency around 4.2sol/W.

I would like some input on using pools that require username and password on nvOC, using zenmine.pro at the moment and not even sure if is well set up.

To clarify what the above poster said, the best settings depend on the coin you want to mine. Some coins have a coreclock intensive algorithm while some need more memory clock instead. Based on the coins you mentioned, here are is a quick summary of what you will be needing:

Zcash:more core, less memory
Zen: more core, less memory
Vertcoin: more core, less memory (i think..)
Ethash: less core, more memory

Also, don't forget to play with power limits. Less power, more profits.
983  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why bitcoin is going up to 8.6K? on: November 25, 2017, 04:11:35 PM

Fundamentally, the current Bitcoin price increase is strongly influenced by the increasing demand for Bitcoin. This could trigger an increasing market confidence. I was also surprised when the Bitcoin price hike so fast, the increase also occurred in Altcoin which is very rarely occurring simultaneously. This is evidence that cryptocurrencies are increasingly trusted by the public and are becoming widely used in many sectors of the world economy today.

Simply very well said. "cryptocurrencies are increasingly trusted by the public and are becoming widely used"

There is no actual news which we could directly assume would be the cause of the increase in value, but if we have to speculate, my guess would be it was caused by 1) the bitcoin diamond fork and 2) the failed FUD attempt that BCH was trying to promote about how bitcoin transactions would again get stuck and BCH would be the more profitable coin to mine.
984  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Meet new DragonMint 16T on: November 25, 2017, 02:18:05 PM
Halong Mining company said soon it will start prodicing DragonMint 16T, the most effective miner. The key component of the new product is DM8575 ASIC chips of the new generation, which offer 85GH hash and have about 0.075J / GH energy efficiency.
What you think about it???  Shocked

Yeah wrong section and this isn't a very good miner in my opinion. It seems to be an overclocked and overpowered antminer s9 with a dragon sticker.

I've posted some power efficiency calculations and estimates on the other thread:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2444725.msg25050320#msg25050320

Basically, this dragonmint miner is less power efficient than the s9 (despite claiming otherwise).
985  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum Rising on: November 25, 2017, 06:34:33 AM
Ethereum is now at $469 and rising. together with Ethereum classic, they are the top gainers in the last few days. Is Ethereum the future? majority say that it is not scalable. how true is this

Not scalable? Ethereum is more scalable than bitcoin or most of the currencies out there. Thats even why its the #2 ranked crypto currency based on market capitalization. If you ask me, ETH actually has a more active development team that both constantly works on the coin as well as branches out and really tries to get some real world use to it (via the Ethereum Enterprise Alliance). Speculation says ethereum will rise even more before the year ends.
986  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Test Our Hardware + Bugbounty on: November 25, 2017, 04:33:00 AM
Great offer you got there. Giving rigs to trusted member will definitely boost your credibility. So I guess philipma will be getting one right?
I admire your effort to fund bug and spelling bounties. Shows your dedication to perfection, which is pretty much essential to everything aside from building mining rigs.

My question is how do your rigs handle heat? I was trying to look for information and cooling of the rigs but couldn't find any.
987  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: New rig - 1080ti or 3x570 on: November 25, 2017, 01:07:54 AM
Especially if this is your first time building a rig, go for the RX 570s. You will have much more fun configuring these (and earn more as well).

The 1080ti's or any nvidia cards are simply plug and play while you let afterburner do the overclocking. With AMD RX cards you have the bios mods and you can actually fine tune the voltage of your cards to get the perfect hash/power efficiency ratios. Much more fun and rewarding in the end. Buy a 1080ti when you are running out of PCIE slots.
988  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Are riserless motherboards more power efficient? on: November 24, 2017, 03:27:43 PM
Been seeing more of those riserless GPU builds which already contain multiple 16x PCIE slots so that you can directly plug your card in.
Here is an example: https://www.tweaktown.com/news/59124/colorfuls-new-mining-motherboard-8-pcie-x16-slots/index.html

Now i'm just wondering if anyone already has experience with these and how they are in terms of power consumption / savings / efficiency?
989  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 8 GPU riser-less motherboard and case available soon on: November 24, 2017, 03:14:28 PM

I have that mobo  running

 six nvidia  1070ti  hybrid  6 x 120 watts
one nvidia  1070    hybrid  1 x 100 watts
one nvidia  1080 ti hybrid  1 x 200 watts

about 1100 watts

I use a 16gb ram stick
and I use an intel i5 6400t cpu

It is a decent board  I sourced it on Alibaba

I prefer the odna b2500 board

but  I am not doing closed case setups  mine are all waterblock open case  they are quiet.

this design looks very good for a big farm where noise does not matter.

Hi philip would you still be able to share a link to that motherboard on alibaba for me? I can't seem to find an onda b2500 or even a b1800 anymore. Tried using google search and directly from alibaba and aliexpress website.

That is a nice build you got there. Never tried waterblocks yet probably because they are too expensive. Any other benefits aside from noise reduction and cooling? Are you able to overclock more because of waterblocks?
990  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: On expiry of thermal paste on: November 24, 2017, 04:48:59 AM
Just noticed my thermal pastes don't have expiry dates too. But its fine because thermal pastes are cheap and this usually should be a non-issue.

I guess to answer your question, you can take mine for example. I bought them a year ago and I just used it last week when I reapplied it on one of my overheating CPUs. Temps went down normally as expected so yeah I don't think thermal paste expires that easily. Mine is color gray too.
991  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Antminer D3 Nov. Batch sell or hold ? Suggests? on: November 24, 2017, 01:10:00 AM
I suggest you wait and hold. I understand its hard times especially when people are tempting you to sell them your D3s. At our local crypto market for example, people are offering to buy what they call paperweight Antminer D3s at $500. The sad part is some people do sell.

But don't give in. Crypto is volatile and DASH maybe up by 1000% tomorrow. Selling now would be tantamount to buying high and selling low (illogical trading strategy).
992  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] dstm's ZCash / Equihash Nvidia Miner v0.5.5 (Linux / Windows) on: November 23, 2017, 11:44:29 AM
Tried DSTM's based on a friend's suggestion and boom! Slight hash rate increase.

My 1080ti on EWBF: 660-670 sols/s
My 1080ti on DSTM: 670-690 sol/s

My 1070 on EWBF: 400-405 sol/s
My 1070 on DSTM: 410-415 sol/s

Will get back to this post after a few days of testing to report stability.

Thank you for this DSTM. Well earned 2% dev fee (we would be happy if you lowered it to 1% and really blow EWBF out of the water).
#VouchingForThisMiner

in fact you are loosing some sols, not earning them
do you aware that ewbf miner can be run without fee?
that means  that
My 1080ti on EWBF: 660-670 sols/s  - actually is 660-670 sol/s
My 1080ti on DSTM: 670-690 sol/s - actually is 656.5 - 676 sol/s
 Smiley

I see, you are right. But tell me one thing, doesn't the hash rate or something decrease when you disable the dev fee? I know claymore has this feature built-in with his miners too but i've always stayed away from disabling the dev fee because he explicitly says mining will be slower. Don't know maybe the EWBF developer is not just as vocal as claymore?

Anyway yeah, this is a big factor, especially for people who have larger mining farms. I hope DSTM lowers his dev fee or adds the option to disable it completely because i believe his miner is better long term, especially in terms of stability.
993  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Delivery times Antminer S9 on: November 23, 2017, 10:11:17 AM
At the time of writing of this post, the Antminer S9 13.5 TH version is still available and it's expected delivery date is now Jan 21-31. Maybe you just missed it because this is usually posted right in the middle of the page after you click on the red "BUY NOW" button.

My reference is the official bitmain website: bitmain.com

995  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why I find Monero the most appealing crypto? on: November 23, 2017, 06:48:48 AM
You forgot to mention that Monero has a nice and simple logo.  Wink

But yeah, I do agree with you and would like to add that Monero is advanced in terms of security and anonymity as well. Every transaction is untraceable and always private. Unlike bitcoin or ethereum, if I spend too much on Amazon or Newegg, it is my own business and nobody else can snoop on my transaction history and judge me. Some people call Monero "freedom money."
996  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ☘☘☘☘[ANN] [ICO] [XVIA] | VIABET | MAKE GAMBLING GREAT AGAIN! |☘☘☘☘ on: November 23, 2017, 02:10:29 AM
A very interesting project that has a great future. But I don't know how much to play against the casino to open my game.
I've never seen anything like it. I think the project is worth supporting.

Viabet will definitely have the first-to-market advantage with this technology platform. The cryptocurrency casino market is massive and we can only imagine how many will use this platform when it goes live. I'm actually betting on the success of Viabet. If you were able to buy some during the pre-ICO, feel free to send me a PM. I might even buy your tokens.
997  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Halong Mining ASIC on: November 23, 2017, 01:24:24 AM
Bitmain's monopoly on bitcoin miners will come to an end if this is legit.

Looking at the specs its not a big leap away from the antminer s9 but still, its has a higher hashrate, and supposedly cooler and more power efficient.

Based on advertised specs tho, isn't the antminer still more power efficient?
Summary specs for easy reference:

Dragonmint Miner
Hashrate: 16 T
Consumption: ~1450 watts
Efficiency: ~90 watts per 1 TH

Antminer S9
Hashrate: 14 T
Consumption: ~1200 watts
Efficiency: ~85 watts per 1 TH
998  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining rig freeze shuttoff etc. :( on: November 22, 2017, 01:58:31 PM
The solution is to buy an ASIC miner? This is a bitcoin forum, not sure why you are talking about PC parts.

Not really. This is indeed after all the altcoin mining sub-forum. There should be no discrimination when talking about PC parts for mining especially when a well built altcoin mining rig earns more than some ASICs.

Going back to the topic and helping the OP, you could try checking your miner's log file. Make sure you turn on logging or debugging if you haven't done so. If your PC only freezes after turning on the miner, most likely you will find an error on your miner's log file. If you can paste the contents of the log file here we can take it from there.
999  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Question about powering 6xVegas on: November 22, 2017, 12:06:36 PM
Hello PSU, nice to meet you.

Seriously tho, that PSU is on the expensive side. Have you considered getting a server PSU instead? I believe you can still do returns.

But in any case you still want to use it, you will be needing a 6x PCIE to 8x+6x PCIE splitter. Something like this:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/PCI-E-6-pin-to-2x-6-2-pin-6-pin-8-pin-Power-Splitter-Cable-PCIE-PCI-Express-/151501045756

Been using them on my 12 GPU rig for quite a few months now and it works flawlessly.
1000  Economy / Gambling discussion / Your thoughts on Viabet? on: November 22, 2017, 06:40:29 AM
So I recently came across Viabet which basically is a project that aims to be the world’s first crypto cloud betting platform and peer-to-peer sports betting site. Think Ethereum dapps for gambling. Users can create games and invite other users to play them. So essentially its a platform.

Seems like a very promising project wouldn't you think? Not so much into gambling aside from the occasional dice or bustabit but this could be big.
