681  Other / Meta / Re: Anyone notice posts not being counted? on: April 22, 2018, 08:42:16 AM
I believe that post count increases have been removed from several boards, this is to discourage the uprankers from posting in them.

Hey thanks for the response. Am i not searching well enough or is it that I can't find any announcements regarding this?
Up until yesterday (April 21) my posts were being counted correctly as usual.
682  Other / Meta / Anyone notice posts not being counted? on: April 22, 2018, 08:29:05 AM
Never had this problem before but it seems like my post count stopped increasing when posting in the Altcoin (Mining) section.

After some digging i found that if you'll check my "lasts posts" page you will notice on page 47 there is a count of total 924 posts but as of this writing my post count is only displayed as 922.

Anyone experiencing the same issue?
683  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining w/ 4 AMD 580 GPUs on: April 22, 2018, 08:12:48 AM
I have a rig with 4 AMD 550 Gpus, had a Thermaltake Toughpower 1500W , I was told the brand might of been the problem.

Getting a 1200W PS to replace it.

I can't get the specs on the Wattage for the GPUs, I've seen 200w per AMD 580. Anyone know about that?

Anyone run 4 GPUS with a 1200W Power Supply? Or even 5?

Your post says AMD 550 GPUs. Those are really low power like 50 watts.

If thats a typo and you have instead rx 580s you still don't need to worry. If you bios mod and undervolt them correctly you should be able to run them at around 100-120 watts each. A 1200w PSU is overkill at that point but may still also be a good invest if you want to expand your rig in the future.

Just google guides on how to bios mod and undervolt.
684  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Any word on amd vega hash rates? on: April 22, 2018, 07:44:53 AM

gfx900 means that HBCC memory is turned off
gfx901 means that HBCC memory is turned on
(c) glph3k

Any regedit way of switching HBCC off?

Why would you need to switch HBCC off and on? All you need is to keep it on all the time for higher hash rates.

You can automate the processes of turning it on/off using scripts like the one found in this guide: http://vega.miningguides.com/p/auto-run-miner-without-hashmonitor.html
685  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ASrock h110 pro BTC+ PCI-E problem. on: April 21, 2018, 12:28:04 PM
I have Asrock h110 pro btc+ mianboard  + 1200 W PSU and 5 X rx 580  ..

You mention you only have 5 pcs of rx 580s? If you aren't trying to run any more than that then it shouldn't matter. The BIOS screen is probably is displaying that the others slots are not working because you have no other GPUs plugged into them? Once you have 13 GPUs and have a real problem thats probably when you should start asking.
686  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 2nd Ethereum bailout is almost here on: April 20, 2018, 03:08:24 AM
Thank you. This is the kind of threads and discussions that we should be having more. I will be happy to admit my mistakes but I do not appreciate being called a fudster. My posts are how I see it and also trying to find more about it. If you prove me wrong, then good, the discussion is more important to me. But there is no need to attack someone's character in the forum. That is not constructive.

Point taken, sorry about that. Admittedly i am an Ethereum fan-boy myself and can sometimes become over zealous about incorrect information that gets posted about it.

There is a moral hazard in unfreezing those funds because it can create an adhoc environment where it can be manipulated by determined parties or by some adversaries.

That being said, I still don't quite see how this can become an environment which can be manipulated. Ethereum development and EIPs are assessed and planned in a case-to-case basis and the beauty of it is that in extreme cases like this, where people's life savings are at stake, the community has a voice and can make a difference.
687  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 2nd Ethereum bailout is almost here on: April 20, 2018, 01:35:55 AM
Does everyone remember the frozen Parity funds? Let this article remind you of how its developer froze the funds by accident.

https://www.coindesk.com/startup-lost-160-million-still-wants-shake-ethereum/

It now appears that Ethereum might be closer in undergoing on a 2nd bailout. EIP867 entitled Standardized Ethereum Recovery Proposals is now merged in.

https://github.com/ethereum/EIPs/blob/master/EIPS/eip-867.md

I reckon the Parity developers will be bailed out by the end of 2018, the same as the DAO bailout. Yes, code is law hehehe.

This begs the question, why is there a need for decentralization in Ethereum?

Do you even know a thing about software development or the implications described in that EIP? By nature of your post, you probably know nothing much about it. The EIP does not ask for a rollback or "bailout" of the Ethereum blockchain or its transactions. Let me put it in simpler terms you may understand:

The EIP simply wants to re-upload the missing lines of code that will allow users to access their wallet funds. There will no transactions that will be reversed aside from that line of code.

Off topic:
Seen your other posts and all you seem to do is spread FUD. Negative news sells eh? Your username suits you. Told like a true mindless sell-out news reporter.
688  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: New mining setup with x18 gtx 1070 mining ethereum need suggestions on: April 20, 2018, 01:25:34 AM
My opinion is that you stick with ETH mining unless you have the time to do research and do some speculative mining on new/unknown coins that have the potential to be more mainstream and worth much more than they are today. If you have a regular job and just do mining as a hobby or part time business then just go for Ethereum. You can never go wrong with ETH esp. because it is so undervalued right now.
689  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Buying GPU.. need suggestions on: April 20, 2018, 12:57:58 AM
I can say for sure that buying a 1050 and 1050ti this is a very bad investment of your money, 1060 3 GB is not always good, the rest can be use, a lot depends on who made the card
Wrong. I have a 12*1050ti rig which gives 190 mh/s stable on eth. Also due to my tower frame, it takes less space then a average 6 gpu rig. It all depends on what price you are getting the card.

The problem with your argument is that it doesn't take into consideration power consumption and the long term costs. Consider the following ETH mining example:

12 pcs 1050ti  mining at 15 MHs using 50w each will give you a total of: 180 MH for 600w
08 pcs 1060    mining at 23 MHs using 75w each will give you a total of: 183 MH for 600w

Which is more efficient? Also, it gives you more density to your rig. You won't need to buy multiple motherboards, SSDs, RAM, etc.
690  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: South Korea Begins to Restrict Crypto Mining Chip Import on: April 19, 2018, 11:39:45 PM
Interesting bit of news. Can you cite your source for this?

I don't see how or why they would categorize "illegal mining activities" in South Korea. Does this mean that there is such a thing as "legal" mining? Nevertheless, if this news turns out to be true it probably would have little repercussions for us mining elsewhere since they only talked about imports being blocked. Business as usual for everywhere else, i think.
691  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Any word on amd vega hash rates? on: April 19, 2018, 04:04:49 PM
SoC is at 1200 (hence why 1115 MHz is even possible).
Dropping mem clocks do drop hashrate quite linearly. Was using blockchain drivers initially, now on latest Adrenalin. Less headaches and same performance.

What miner are you using with the latest drivers? CastXMR?

I would be Interested to know if hashrate is consistent. The way it currently is that hashrates drop when your temp goes up or if you start a new instance of another miner. New drivers with no headaches would be a breath of fresh air.
692  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Power efficiency and riserless motherboards on: April 19, 2018, 08:29:49 AM
Anyone have any idea if it is more power efficient to run a riserless motherboard like Onda or Octominer?

I understand density is a consideration because you can put more GPUs on a 19-GPU ASUS, but let's say I only need to run 8-GPUs.

Which would be more power efficient:

A. Onda
B. Octominer
C. ASUS mining expert
D. Asrock H110+ pro
693  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is your favourite exchange? on: April 19, 2018, 08:19:54 AM
Can't help but fall in love with the KuCoin exchange. Here are some reasons why I loved it and you may love it too:

1. Exceptional user interface - everything is so simple and intuitive but at the same time very professional
2. The dev team is very active - new coins are listed regularly and support is very helpful
3. Bonuses - aside from KuCoin shares that give dividends, they also support bonuses given by other POS coins (for example: they automatically credit NEO's GAS)
694  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: All The Hosting Companies / Farms For Mining Machines And The Very Best Ones on: April 19, 2018, 06:13:32 AM
If it is no longer profitable for you, regardless of where you are and how much electricity costs, it will probably also be not profitable in other parts of the world. Unless maybe you were mining  at $100 per kw/h. The cost of transporting mining rigs whether GPUs or ASICs will be huge and that is not takinng into account the hassle of dealing with customs.

The way it sounds, you are probably better off selling your old mining hardware.
695  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: NiceHash repayment programs on: April 19, 2018, 02:01:55 AM
Nice to see them following through with the payouts. It's just right for them to pay us for something we own in the first place.

I just don't see why anyone would still use nicehash though when it is clearly more profitable to mine a coin directly.
696  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Buying GPU.. need suggestions on: April 18, 2018, 11:43:38 PM
Thanks everyone for helping me out...

I just end up buying a AMD Rx Vega 56 for $621.. they only had a one piece in-stock soo I think I made a good decision

It only has a single fan.. 😐is it really enough to cool down this GPU ??

By single fan do you mean that you bought the reference edition? The black blower type one like in this photo:

If so, just make sure you follow the VEGA mining guide by hellae which is linked below. Modding your VEGA for optimum power consumption and heat is crucial.

697  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Simple Cryptonight profit calculator on: April 18, 2018, 12:42:25 PM
New toy - Build a virtual mining rig and calculate hashrate!
+ A selection of 100 CPUs and GPUs.
+ URL for each configuration (save or share).
+ Algorithms: Cryptonight / v7, Cryptonightlite / v1, CryptonightHeavy.

https://www.cryptunit.com/wizard

If you have a suggestion to correct any information (or add CPU / GPU), please send it to us. We want the wizard to be as accurate as possible!

Amazing work on this. Aside from the wizard being so intuitive and simple to use, it is actually quite useful.

One suggestion would be to add coins other than CryptoNight coins. You could really compete with whattomine.com with something like this. Keep it up!
698  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: The Future Of ZClassic (ZCL) on: April 18, 2018, 08:55:09 AM
Now that Bittrex has denied the addition of BTCP market, what do you guys think about the future of ZCL and BTCP?
ZCL is a shitcoin. and it was dead. There will be no chance of going up. It seems that ZCL dev has dropped and does not develop anything after launching BTCP

This is true. The ZCL team, which is now the BitcoinPrivate (BTCP) team, has already posted that they will discontinue ZCL development. If you google or read their reddit page you should see that for them ZCL will continue to exist but only as a relic and sort-of tribute to the founders and previous team members.

All future development is now focused on BTCP. I actually don't understand why ZCL has trade volume. Eventually when the miners give up the coin will be dead.
699  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Verge potential or scam coin? on: April 18, 2018, 08:23:45 AM
Last time I checked sex sells.

Exactly. I for one am a verge convert. I used to doubt the legitimacy of the project and was actually worried when they started moving funds. But in the, we have to look at the big picutre and see that they really did a good business move. Forget about the company name or what they do (porn industry) and imagine this was a partnership with a consumer goods industry. It is undoubtedly a big and solid move to partner with a group of companies with this much exposure.

Verge as a cryptocurrency is now poised to be actually used in the real world. That should be well worth than what it's value is right now.
700  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: VEGA 64 mining FREE WISDOM on: April 18, 2018, 07:44:54 AM
Wow you've put a lot of effort into this. Thank you for the comprehensive guides and it seems like once your software is done, it could help a lot of miners who just bought the VEGA.
Just curious tho, what do you get from this? Does your one-click software contain a fee or is it for sale? Seems like you need to be at least compensated somehow.

EDIT: Just read more of your website. It seems like you'll be making an actual VEGA token/coin. Good luck!
