1061  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Stopping certain cards from mining ? on: November 06, 2017, 12:33:24 AM
Yes, you can stop a specific card from mining using most mining software.
It is easiest with claymore's miner. All you have to do is use the
Code:
 -di
command.

Lets say for example you have 3 cards, and you want to disable the 2nd card. All you have to do is:
Code:
 -di 02

And to run all 3 cards again:
Code:
 -di 012

Notice the numbers after the -di command. Those are your GPU index numbers.
1062  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Auto updating driver Vega Blockchain @Win10 on: November 05, 2017, 02:00:39 PM
While you cannot set Windows 10 to not auto update the OS , you can make it to stop auto updating your device drivers.

Go to control panel then go to System, then click on Advanced System settings and then in the system properties window click on Device Installation settings. After you have clicked that a window will appear asking if you want to automatically update device drivers as first option, or no as second option. Choose the second one and click apply.

After you do this, download the driver you want for your card and keep it in desktop. Uninstall current driver with DDU (Direct Display Driver Uninstaller). Restart PC and install the driver you downloaded.

Now you should be OK.

Actually, you can stop windows 10 from auto updating. All you need to do is disable some windows services and you can do this simply by running the services.mcs file.
For a complete walkthrough just take a look at this (taken from google): https://www.windowscentral.com/how-stop-updates-installing-automatically-windows-10
1063  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Gold price after users claim it? on: November 05, 2017, 05:43:26 AM
When people claim it? It will definitely be sold and dumped. Just take a look at the topics about BTG here in the forum.
Everything points to it being an incomplete project, slow development, unfulfilled promises, and overly an untrusted coin.

When the main BTG blockchain hits the market you will have to be fast. First price movement will be a dump for sure. For succeeding price movement, we can only speculate.
1064  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Running out of options... on: November 05, 2017, 04:48:46 AM
I'd keep checking around.  I can't believe you can't find an electrician that wants a side job and will do it for 1k.  It's not a lot of work and now a lot in parts.  Just pull the panel and put a new one in.

Yeah i can't believe you can't find anyone. Have you tried looking for electricians in manpower agencies?
Heck if you really are running out of options, heres one: go to schools and universities. There are students there who would be more than willing to do some work for you for that amount of money. Just make sure you get a real electrician to double check their work.

Good luck. In my country electricians would do this for $100 and some snacks.
1065  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Obelisk tech to release Miner for Decred with the DCR1 on: November 05, 2017, 01:42:02 AM
Hopefully the launch of this ASIC does not do to DCR what it did to SIA.

The Obelisk SIA SC1 was actually the catalyst that brought Siacoin down to the dumps. From trading at 400 satoshi to 50 satoshi? Thats a huge loss.
My theory is when ASICs like this enter into a new coin which was previsouly only mined with GPUs, people get scared, they think it will mean more supply and more miners will be dumping their coins.
1066  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: RX570 MSI or Gygabyte on: November 04, 2017, 12:12:59 PM
Go for the MSI Gaming.

It is generally understood that MSI cards are usually built with Samsung memory as compared to Gigabyte who most recently seems to use Hynix for ther 5XX series cards. This is critically important when mining because having a good memory type means better hashrate and increased profitability.
1067  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CPU power to sell on: November 04, 2017, 11:08:09 AM
I believe the OP is referring to selling his GPU (not CPU) hashing power to Nicehash (which is a pool, not a marketplace). However, he doesn't want to use Nicehash because he feels like it is already famous and gives low profit. He wants to mine something unknown and with great potential. Lol. Welcome to crypto mining.

The OP has to research more and get the terms right. Google is your friend when learning about mining. If you already have GPUs then thats bad. You should have done your research before buying. Good luck to you sir.
1068  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Electroneum a SCAM??? on: November 04, 2017, 02:30:26 AM
yea for sure. I know some of the "influencers" openly call it as a scam.. but they did communciate their change of branding. As a benefit of the doubt, they probably are just bad at PR and communication. If any of you dont feel comfortable then quickly get out if you see some profit.. I think they have quite a decent small cap and the upside could be good though. I think it is a scam and people will lose money, because this poject is overvalued

The problem is we ICO investors can't get out. They are holding access to wallets. I've been wanting to dump my share of electroneum for two (2) whole days now.
It really feels like the devs are slowly selling their stash (because only they have access) and then when they're already done and rich, they'll give us our coins which will be worth nothing already.
1069  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Where do you guys see SIACOIN in future? on: November 03, 2017, 07:58:59 PM
Its cheap and bound to pump in the near future. Looks like a buy to me.

Agreed.

Great topic since I feel like Siacoin has really been overlooked of late. I feel like its been dumped to the ground too much. If you look at the fundamentals, there are lots of other coins out there that have less real world use and more potential than siacoin but are valued more than 10 times SIA. My recommendation is to buy now below 50 sats while you can. Good luck!

1071  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: They Must Evolve or Die! on: November 01, 2017, 07:14:19 AM
Great topic OP. I agree, these altcoins should really get up and do something. Bitcoin never had any ICOs and yet they are consistently working on (or fighting amongst themselves) upgrades like this segwit2x, lightning, mast, etc.

Hopefully, some altcoins actually get to read this and be moved to action. There is so much potential to cryptocurrency. I can only imagine how this will change the world.
1072  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: First time rig, which is better value? on: November 01, 2017, 06:51:48 AM
No doubts. You should clearly go for the RX 570 rig. Why? First because the 3GB variant of the 1060 is already OBSOLETE. You can't even mine Ethereum with those because of the regular increase in DAG file size. In reality even the 4GB RX 570s are also in danger of becoming unusable for ETH mining. Just make sure you do your own research on what you're going to mine first. It seems like you're buying without even knowing what to mine.
1073  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: airdrop on: November 01, 2017, 02:16:10 AM
To add to what the previous posters said, aside from the airdrop rules and specific times specified, you can also look into the actual coin specifications.
Some coins take time more time to confirm transactions. For example look at bitcoin a few months ago, it took hours to transfer coins from one address to another.
It won't really matter much but just check the coin specs and transaction times as well if you really want to know more, and have spare time.
1074  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 19GPU B250 Expert users, UNITE! on: October 31, 2017, 08:02:19 AM
Nice rig. But those efficiencies are pretty bad. Is electricity cheap where you are from?

Not yet a 19-GPU ASUS B250 user but with my 12-GPU rig i make sure all efficiencies are above 3.0.
It should be easy to undervolt NVIDIA cards as they can easily be tweaked using afterburner.
1075  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are we to expect another altcoin bloodbath before SegWit2x? on: October 31, 2017, 12:06:13 AM
Well we can never really tell and it could actually go the other way around (bitcoin dies and altcoins rise).
It may all depend on how smoothly the segwit2x fork goes.

If you want answers, i believe its best to move this to the speculation thread. There are more people out there who like pretending to be Nostradamus.
1076  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Possible to run 2 different GPUs? on: October 30, 2017, 11:49:13 PM
I saw a random post once that implied the GPU number limit in windows is per brand/architecture, as in you could theoretically run twice the max number of physical cards as long as half are AMD and the other half Nvidia. True or false?

With the new windows 10 build update 1709, the restrictions to the number of GPUs in the system have been removed. Simply, this means you can now add an unlimited number of GPUs as long as your motherboard can support it.

I currently run a 10-GPU mining rig with both AMD and NVIDIA cards on them. Just make sure you download the right drivers for each and install one (1) card at a time.
1077  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Need more BTC - buy now or wait a few weeks? on: October 30, 2017, 09:12:18 AM
Always remember that bitcoin's price in the short term, whether it be before or after this November hard fork, still pales in comparison to bitcoin's future price.
John Mcafee himself promised to eat his own dick on public television if bitcoin price does not reach $500,000.

Forget about the dips or pumps you are seeing now. These will mean nothing if you are a long term holder. Today is a good day to buy. Long term = win.
1078  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Anyone tried this setup? on: October 30, 2017, 09:01:58 AM
As the previous posters already pointed out, this should work fine without any problems. Especially now that windows 1709 has come out as a version that allows you to exceed the initial 8 GPU limit.

I myself am actually running a hybrid AMD-NVIDIA mining rig. RX470/480 and GTX 1060/170s. All have been mining flawlessly for three (3) months now.
1079  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080Ti Specific - Best mining option on: October 30, 2017, 02:06:06 AM
Have you guys tried BTCZ? Similar to bitcoin gold but without the scam. Solid project IMHO.

Currently mining BTCZ at 680 sols (equihash) and 160+ watts using EWBF's miner.
Total revenue is currently at $3+ per day per 1080ti.
1080  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Vs Deep Onion on: October 29, 2017, 11:52:04 PM
Sharing my experience with DeepOnion.

Was originally attracted to it because of the large amount given during airdrops. But when i registered and joined i was overwhelmed by how the members almost worshipped the devs. The devs had so much power and banned or blacklisted anyone who questioned them. Seemed childish to me and a project run that way will never have a few in the professional world. Sorry but good luck to deeponion holders. I highly suggest you cash out while you can.
