I recently tried setting up another mining rig but found out all the profitable GPUs are no longer available at all local stores in my country. According to the distributors, people have been buying GPUs in BULK since April 2017.
At this rate, can GPU mining still be profitable long term? 1 year from now? 3 years from now?

Definitely it will be Litecoin (LTC) to replace bitcoin. It is essentially an improved version of BTC. https://litecoincore.org

Not outrightly a scam coin. But in my opinion a very sketchy shitcoin. Check out this lengthy article which discusses XRP and STR's bad blood while also showcasing how STR's founder is just an emotional kid who hired his girlfriend to become vice president, just because. http://observer.com/2015/02/the-race-to-replace-bitcoin/STR is going to the dumps, imho.

Nice. Interesting take. I like your picks and am also personally invested into some of the same coins (go LTC!).
Will check back on this after a year. Hopefully we'll both be well on our way to a million dollars.
Good luck!

This is now easy to do with litecion (LTC) because it confirms hella fast and with very low transaction fees.
Just use big and well-known exchanges like poloniex or bittrex. Ive been doing this since segwit was activated for LTC. Been profitable.

My top five would be:
1. LTC 2. ETH 3. SIA 4. DGB 5. STEEM
Emphasis on LTC as it is severely undervalued atm.

3) Don't trade. Buy your stash, don't look at the prices every day, if you can forget you have them for a year+ at a time. People have made way more money buying BTC at $300 than at $10 because most people will sell early.
Eh? Trading is profitable if you know what you are doing. Although he is a newbie, I would still recommend SHORT-TERM trading (not DAY trading).

Imagine all the users of dropbox, amazon aws, google drive, etc.
All of those are potential customers of Siacoin. Siacoin offers a cheaper and more secure alternative. Need i say more?
that is a good use I give you that, but also look at how many coins are out there and also that less then 0.0001% of Amazon AWS customers are aware of SC. So keep that in mind. Not the best service wins in the real world, crapy service wins all the time, so marketing is very important and just hyping it on Bitcointalk is not reaching AWS customers. That's what I'm saying you need someone to do what I do for my customers on-line you need some DR marketing. Marketing will surely follow. Look at the siacoin website ( http://sia.tech). They know how to design and market their product. It may simple be just not their priority at the moment because they are working on the actual coin. But will they be able to compete with Pied Piper?
Your whole life you've been an ugly chick. Now, suddenly, you're a hot chick, with big tits and small nipples, so guys like that are gonna keep coming around. Don't be a slut, Richard.

Have you considered mining other altcoins or ETH instead? Seems to be more profitable now esp. with the recent surges in ETH value.
That way, if your farm fails, you can always sell GPUs to gamers.

While there is truth to the claim that trading is uncertain, there are always time where we can be certain which way investments turn out. By doing research and analysis, it is possible to see beyond the current valuation of a investment.
Nothing is certain but with hard work anything is possible.

...and waves will surpass ethereum by 2020, watch and learn.
Litecoin may surpass ethereum in 2018 and Bitcoin may be trading above $5000 in 2018 hope this happenings. Ethereum is making a great move now and we hope it gets to $500 but not to surpass bitcoin in just next year. I will second this. I do believe Litecoin (LTC) is heavily undervalued as of writing. Litecoin is just like bitcoin, but more advanced. There should be no reason to use bitcoin soon.

Pretty impressed with ETH from .0650 to .0950 without much dips.
I do wonder how low it will go when correction time comes.

If you're looking to do arbitrage, consider doing it with LTC. LTC confirms fast so if you see a profitable margin between exchanges, you could send fast.
Good luck!

LTC all the way. Aside from it being a more stable and advanced version of bitcoin (cheaper tx costs, faster confirmation times), it has a clearer roadmap to success. In the end, what matters is if it is simple enough for people to use and adopt on a massive scale, and LTC does just that. Although LTC is not discussed much in this forum, you can check out http://reddit.com/r/litecionFor their 2017 roadmap you can check: http://litecoin.org

We could be over $10,000 in 2018. There is tremendous upside to Bitcoin and people are just beginning to understand that.
Well that escalated quickly. While I would love to see bitcoin worth $10,000, lets get back to reality here. I believe $3000 is a reasonable value to reach by 2018. The correction thats happening now is actually healthy and will do good to raise bitcoin's value even more.

8 cards on MSI Z270A-Pro w/ PCI-e splitter works fine, never even bothered with the M2
Which spliter do you use? The splitters from every vendor are pretty much the same. Look for Ver. 4 on the PCB A cautionary warning tho, if you use splitters you increase the risk of these burning out and shorting both your GPUs and boards. There are lots of horror stories here and around the net about burn outs. Make sure you know what you are doing (get the right power supply, connect mobo to only 1 psu, etc.)
