Should be very easy to adjust mining software since SpreadX11 (both the X11-part and the Spread anti-pool-mechanism-part) stay exactly the same, just a new byte has to be introduced, and somekind of GUI or CMD input read in so that miners can type in or set their vote. (Or simply let them write in their vote in the conf file, and it will be used from then on.)

Right now I'm creating an experimental build for testnet that will allow us to CPU-mine and set our vote and observe how the percentage changes over time (1440 votes per day).

Should be fun. I hope to have it finished in a few hours.

I'm not a big fan of having to modify miner software especially since some paid for optimized closed source miners which will probably not get updated.

Would it be possible for the wallet to add the voting part when a block is found (from via the .conf or something?) while using current mining softwares?

I hear you, but we will have to adjust the miner software at some point anyway.
Not just because of the mining voting, but because servicenodes themselves will require an adjustment/fork of the blockchain.

And whenever something in the blockchain changes, the miners have to be changed too... so this is nothing new.
What we can do is reduce the amount of forks to a minimum.

When servicenodes go testnet and are successful we will create three new miners (in-wallet-CPU miner, and a GPU miner for AMD, and a GPU one for Nvidia).

Sure, if SPR price rises we can hire any expert to fund any crazy project you can come up with, why not.
I am barely starting to understand openCL for GPU, and I am also looking at the programming of small devices like the TREZOR.
But for everything that goes farther than that we can hire experts at some point.

Stay tuned!  Grin

How were you originally going to integrate Service Nodes into the event?

The idea for the halving event came out of Slack discussions, I think around the summer last year. I can check the logs to confirm.

One of the central concepts behind ServiceNodes is the creation of a long term funding mechanism for those running bitcoin full nodes, especially after this next halving event.

The crypto scene is still fragile and if bitcoin begins to fail because of funding issues related to a drop in Coinbase rewards, it would set back all crypto projects by a factor of several years.

So the halving event was conceived around bitcoin halving and showing potential ways to fund bitcoins future using a model any project could develop, ServiceNodes being one of the first sustainable funding mechanisms focused on helping Bitcoin.

You can see with the draft agenda that this was a central theme

http://blockchain2020.com

It would be difficult to promote the event on the basis we agreed last year if we can't showcase ServiceNodes. I've left promotions to the very last minute, and now we either have to push ahead and keep fingers crossed something will be available to show or change tact for this year.  I think it's safer to change tact.

Always be skeptical  Grin

EDIT 2: Debunked!
The signature in Wright's post is just pulled straight from a transaction on the blockchain. Convert the base64 signature from his post (MEUCIQDBKn1Uly8m0UyzETObUSL4wYdBfd4ejvtoQfVcNCIK4AIgZmMsXNQWHvo6KDd2Tu6euEl13VT C3ihl6XUlhcU+fM4=) to hex (3045022100c12a7d54972f26d14cb311339b5122f8c187417dde1e8efb6841f55c34220ae002206 6632c5cd4161efa3a2837764eee9eb84975dd54c2de2865e9752585c53e7cce), and you get the signature found in this transaction input: https://blockchain.info/tx/828ef3b079f9c23829c56fe86e85b4a69...
Note that the base64 string at the top of his post isn't a signature, just a cleartext message: " Wright, it is not the same as if I sign Craig Wright, Satoshi.\n\n".

I've been posting for years that satoshi is British.

It's easily solved. Just send a few coins from the early blocks.

Next year will likely be better to use the SNs as a model - we should have accomplished actually supporting the BTC network & thus will have a lot more to show.

I'd really like to come, but it might be hard for me to get over to London for a few days.  Sad
Maybe I will buy a ticket when they go on sale anyways.

What will the content be without SNs? Same stuff as outlined in the draft but with little mention of SPR?

P.S. I can wait if you're going to release more info in the coming month(s)

I guess if they are out by July, we can incorporate them in some way, but it depends how we progress with the event.  Some of our little helpers have also gone awol.

Word. Sounds good. Will there be a way to pay for a streamed version online or is this strictly an in-person event?

Damn.

I was just starting to build up some small pieces of evidence to show it was unlikely to be him.

The first place people should have looked was the genesis block:

One thing is for sure, Craig Wright has a lot of money.

Possibly, he had a lot of money, lost most of it and is trying to get some of it back.

Perhaps, he had a lot of others peoples money, and lost it.

I don't think this is the last we'll hear from Dr Wright.
