Gun Range Owner Reveals Secrets to Bypassing California's Upcoming AR-15 Ban

Describing how California's SB-880 will re-define "assault weapons," Jacob Belemjian of The Firing Line shooting range in Clovis points out exactly what parts of the rifle will make the gun illegal at the start of the new year, and what can be modified on the gun to make it legal.

Despite the AR-15 he uses as an example requiring a special tool in order to detach the magazine, Belemjian says the feature, which in the past allowed the gun to bypass detachable gun magazine restrictions, means the gun would be in violation of the new laws.

Under the new law, a "fixed magazine" is now defined as "an ammunition feeding device contained in, or permanently attached to, a firearm in such a manner that the device cannot be removed without disassembly of the firearm action."

Belemjian also described other features on his example centerfire, semi-automatic rifle that would make it illegal, such as the aforementioned detachable magazine and any of the following features: a collapsible, or adjustable, or foldable stock; a pistol grip that protrudes below the trigger guard; a forward pistol grip; and a flash hider.

Cool
I don't understand how you can live in one state and have different laws in every state. Really it was impossible to negotiate and to make a General law. And the restriction of rights to use weapons in my opinion contradicts the principle of the United States.

Pepe think that Guns should be as widely available as cars or computers.
It's important not to restrict the access.

Guns are necessary to be a free person.

But guns should not be sold out like they're candies, then some troubled people can get to the much easier... There needs to be some evaluation of the potential carrier/buyer.

I know this thread might consider murricans at most, but let me tell you. Here in Serbia you're not allowed to carry/have a weapon in your possession unless you're a policemen, security, etc... or a registered hunter, so many people have hidden stashes here and let me tell you, that's bullshit. I live in a small town, about 1h from capital, and the crime rate is low, usually some gipsies start fights and things like that but when I'm returning home from town and for me to get to the center of the city from my home takes about 20min, but late at night there are so many dodgy guys that can make you a little unsettled, and there were known attacks by local junkies, so I'd actually like to have some kind of a firearm with me, just in case. So, I don't know what situation is worse... yours where everyone can get a hold of a gun easly or not have one at all here.

The guns aren't being sold like candies. It is just the liberal media, which paints such a picture for their own propaganda purposes. Even in the most gun-liberal states, you will not be able to purchase a gun if you have a criminal record or a mental illness.

I was in Serbia before the war. In 1991. Was in Pristina. Where almost everyone was an illegal weapon. It saved them at the beginning of the conflict with the Muslims. I am sure that after the war of illegal weapons has become even greater. And that this has increased crime? No.

If everyone was armed and trained then there would be no problems. Only the real hardened criminals would still do crime, but imagine robbing a bank where every patron and employee was armed. Everyone outside hearing the alarm is armed and trained. hmm...

Bad news for dictators but good news for crime management. Police forces could be reduced too.

The law would be to carry, concealed or not, from the moment you wake up to the time you go to bed. Bedside holsters would be a thing..

Even your kids would carry, bb guns (training).. untill they graduate to .22 caliber and so on.

I liked your humorous post, but it's still exactly coincides with my opinion. A country with a liberal attitude to gun ownership is always less criminalized than countries where guns are banned.

Most of the bank robbers in Germany and everywhere, are the top bankers, themselves.

Physical bank robbery is a thing of the past. Bank robberies have gone digital now. Why risk getting shot by the police, when you have the choice of sitting at you home and robbing third party bank accounts located half way across the globe? Also, physical bank robberies often net very small amount of money, as banks store most of their cash in secure locations elsewhere.

Governments are the worst robbers. They make up various taxes with different names and stack them on top of each other, so dumb people don't see they have to pay 50% tax on a product, because it's only 20% income tax and 20% VAT and 10% excise.

On the one hand I believe that most of us are violent enough already and therefore gun control is truly necessary. To be frank with everybody I abhor all kinds of weapons, from cold steel to nuclear weapon and I believe that availability of weapons is a veiled threat to mankind because it automatically stimulates blood lust and actually makes killing other living beings more real than solving issues, conflicts and becoming maturer, wiser and able to manage anything. and it enables us to devalue this inestimable gift of life into the bargain. On the other hand, human beings can, as a matter of fact, express rage and destroy everything around without any weapons. In any event we always were and always will be aggressive. and even if carrying all kinds of weapons (including pen- and pocketknives) will become illegal, even if the mere thought of using violence against others will turn into a thoughtcrime, unfortunately we will find our way. I think that we have learn to deal with our issues and fits of negative emotions on our own because shifting the blame onto anything or anyone else is the easiest path but eventually it leads to the dark side of the Force whereas becoming a human is the hard way but it yields the best fruits. Trust me, guys, from my experience assuming responsibilities for everything what's going on in life is the only way to remain more or less sane and calm among other people. There are no weapons, there is only our will to remain humane or to lose face.

Since many people won't agree with you, use your guns to disarm them.

This is good. Everyone should abhor violence and weapons. Will never happen, though.

On the other hand, human beings can, as a matter of fact, express rage and destroy everything around without any weapons.
Never without weapons. Even if the weapon is an open hand slapping someone, it is still a weapon.

In any event we always were and always will be aggressive. and even if carrying all kinds of weapons (including pen- and pocketknives) will become illegal, even if the mere thought of using violence against others will turn into a thoughtcrime, unfortunately we will find our way.
People who declare things to be illegal are simply people. Some government joker might declare guns illegal. I might declare lack of guns illegal. Legal and illegal doesn't matter when it comes to personal property.

I think that we have learn to deal with our issues and fits of negative emotions on our own because shifting the blame onto anything or anyone else is the easiest path but eventually it leads to the dark side of the Force whereas becoming a human is the hard way but it yields the best fruits.
Good thinking.

Trust me, guys, from my experience assuming responsibilities for everything what's going on in life is the only way to remain more or less sane and calm among other people. There are no weapons, there is only our will to remain humane or to lose face.

If people assumed responsibility for their whole lives, there would be no need for governments.

I don't think solutions is to ban the guns. It won't prevent people from killing each other. It can do only education and deep understanding of this world and conciousness itself.
So I would let it be although I'm not going to join the fight for it.

Of course, when people have become accustomed to weapons, and all the less stable it is necessary to prohibit and can kill with a knife and

You say so only because you have not yet been touched by the crime. When you are robbing and you will have nothing to fight back, then you probably change your mind., but it's too late. Even if the gun you will need 1 once in a lifetime, it is necessary to carry the whole life.

I think you've misread it, he said that they shouldn't ban guns. But yes, you're right about that. People who want to get guns will get them one way or another, banning guns can just lead to defenceless public people, unable to fight back if they get in situation where they could use a firearm.
