It would be very impossible since I don't think the government would want to lose control on their citizens. Bitcoin can be easily hacked. The government could possibly lose alot of money if they get hacked. But it could happen if the current government of every country is squashed.

The advanced technology is very successful. Anything can happen in the future. So it may be possible that governments make some regulations through which they will be able to handle bitcoin and will be able to maintain the affairs of the state with the bitcoin currency so it is possible that bitcoin will replace dollar soon.

American dollar is something like part of their personality, it is hard to change that. And even if they wanted it would be hard because there are so many things that needed to be done before bitcoin could be used in day to day business. Maybe it would be possible for bitcoin to replace dollar, but it will not happen any time soon.

I don't think... There is a far distance between Bitcoin and Dollar, in the modern world Everything is being measured by the value of dollars. It is the most acceptable and credible currency in the monetary world. But Bitcoin is a newcomer in the monetary system so it has to go long way to become as popular as dollar...

Actually it's not that impossible but it will take lots of changes first before we can achieve it and the bankers wont let their fiat currency become worthless and obsolete in the future, so i guess it will accumulate lots of time. I think just having 15 years is not quite enough it will take atleast 30 years but to be able to do that right now bitcoin is currently in beta mode that still has a lot of flaws like some bugs in malleability and bitcoin scaling problem it needs to be resolve first before can progress. Bitcoin has progress a lot recently it has been adopted in various countries and now being used as payment method or safe haven for investors to store lots of money.
As we can see that bitcoin is going up rapidly and the price is also going up and people are getting interest in bitcoin and I think it can hit the dollar but it will take time how much I don’t know but as bitcoin is going forward with progress nothing is impossible for bitcoin but after some significant time. We can see already lots of people around the world people are moving their saving into bitcoins as they are finding bitcoin as one of the biggest a promising future. When we will be having similar trend in upcoming years too then we can expect more people will be adopting and using bitcoin for both investments as well as for currency. When more people will be using bitcoin as currency then dollars will get vanished in no time.

You are absolutely right its not going to happen in long term because USD is backed by many countries and its currency for trade of world and bitcoin is just digital currency which is used by very limited community without baking by any country

Some people already mentioned here that the government is not going to give up on the control they have on Dollar. However, as people use more and more bitcoin, fiat currencies may not be replaced, but considered obsolete by most of the people. The consequences of this are yet to be seen...

If you really check the amount of users that are actively invovled in any form of trade in the virtual world, the number of people involved are really low compared to the amount of fiat currency being used world wide, money is being pumped into bitcoin, which means dollar euro pound what ever may be the currency it being pumped into bitcoin by the investors and they are not doing that thinking that it it obsolete, everyone wants to make profit and so is the reason you see these investments and they are not intended to replace dollar,so hope you understand what i meant.

I really think that there isn't a necessity to replace the dollar itself. I mean, we can certainly have all the currencies working very well, and if people have the right to choose what currency they want to use? Then no problem. What should be gone are governments forbiding their people to adapt Crypto-Currency. And let's face it, dollar is too strong and it will continue leading the world for quite some time.

probably not as control over currency, and the use of it requires existence of many financial instruments in this currency that provide deep liquidity. But I think it is possible in theory, I am not sure this would be the best possible solution. I think the purpose of decentralized digital currency like Bitcoin is to provide much needed competition for the fiat currencies, which will make the whole monetary system a lot more fair.

I don't know if this article is legit or just some destruction in the internet: https://dcebrief.com/new-u-s-law-to-replace-dollar-with-bitcoin/ but in my own opinion, I don;t think bitcoin can replace dollars that easily. Not in 15 years. Too much to do, too much to adjust.

Absolutely, even if we like to replace dollar but it seems very impossible, dollar has been existing and working well in our current system. Bitcoin is just a small piece of payment system when compared to dollar, the government control this world, they have to do what is beneficial for all and bitcoin is not.

The government can regulate the usage of bitcoin but not as a currency that will replace their own. USD is their representation and they can control it, imagine you replace it with something you are not in control, it does not make sense.
Yeah. Since Bitcoin is decentralized, they can't control it to their own rules and needs. In contrast, fiat currencies like the USD is under their control being issued by central banks, which makes them centralized and easier to manipulate. That is why, I believe that in the future fiat currencies would be upgraded to the digital world where each would rely on their own private blockchain secured by the government. That way, countries would have complete transparency over every transaction made by its citizens, and offer services such as: ID issuance, transfer of ownership, among others via an immutable ledger. Nevertheless, while Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies won't replace traditional fiat currencies in the future, they will co-exist each other for years to come. By that time, we would be able to exchange any kind of cryptocurrency to fiat or viceversa in a simple and hassle-free way. Just sharing my thoughts.

Bitcoin is a digital currency and it's not right to think about what it will ever be able to replace a dollar.
I think its possible for bitcoin to replace dollar but it will take a long period it cant be done soon because mostly people are un aware of bitcoin and mostly countries not legalized bitcoin yet I admit that bitcoin has a future but it will take a long time to replace dollar because dollar is involved in market for thousands of years

Right, the dollar is very likely to get an upgrade and the people that spend Bitcoin will be able to exchange their coins for fiat much easier than they can right now. The dollar is likely to have a payment system developed within the upcoming years and the people that use it will have less physical dollars in their pockets.
