^ Both Alcaraz against Kwon and Tsitsipas against Ivashka are big favourites. I have Alcaraz -3.5 @1.16, not great odds there. I also have Felix AA to win @1.42.
I'm not sure about backing Tsitsipas, I got burned before specially right after he wins a tournament, maybe -2.5 @1.21?
Better skip Tsitsipas in first round at that low odds. If anything best bet is probably counter handicap on match or even better on first set. This is his first match in new toirnamet without much time to get adjusted to new conditions. But as I said, better skip and continue to bet on him from next match.

I think I'm getting a bit carried away with Alcaraz now, I'm expecting him to beat everyone he plays and win every tournament (with Medvedev out and Djokovic rusty). I can't be the only one thinking like this, and I wonder if the betting odds are reflected accordingly, so odds for Alcaraz are somewhat less favourable than should really be the case. But even having said that, of course I expect him to win his next match. 🙂 Well Alcaraz is somewhat what we call the current hype, so we think he can win all tournaments he entered. And against Kwon? of course we will expect him to win. Tsitsipas though is the top seed in this tournament, and when we think that he is on the roll, suddenly he will have a bad tournament game and be upset by someone. FAA vs Carlos Taberner has been suspended though. FAA winning the 1st set, 6-1.

This has been speculated about for a long time and now it has become official. ''Russian and Belarusian players will not be allowed to compete at Wimbledon this year because of the invasion of Ukraine.''''It is understood the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) will confirm the move later on Wednesday.''Source: https://www.bbc.com/sport/tennis/61161016Very difficult news for Medvedev, Sabalenka and other tennis players from these countries. Could it happen that two currently best tennis players don't play at the Wimbledon, Djokovic due to non-vaccination and Medvedev due to the war in Ukraine? Do you think it's okay to limit tennis players' appearances in tournaments because of the war? Should sport be separated from daily politics?

Match is live and it's clear there are no chances for Kwon to win.. immediately a break point on first set! there is a big difference between those two players and Kwon come from a very bad loss streak. He win with Paire here in BCN, I think this was already the top result for that tournament...

It will not happen, they immediately added something like "if players do not speak up against Russian aggression". I am thinking most players will do the official statement and play Wimbledon. I believe we will see a complete roster at the tournament.

I don't know what i should think about this. Of course the Russian invasion of the Ukraine is horrible and should be stopped immediately but it just can not see any connection between Russian tennisplayers and that war besides from the fact that they are russian of course, but that does not make them guilty of any actions that their government has planned and executed. I also think, that it is not that easy for those players to make an official statement against the war and therefore also against their government. Their family members and friends are probably still in Russia and if those players are now attacking the government it would also affect those family members and friends.

Not sure if Alcaraz has mental lapses on that set. Not sure what are the handicap on this match, did Alcaraz cover though? He got back on the 3rd set and won convincingly, Alcaraz shouldn't lose the second set, just saying.

And he is playing for the crowd, his first return to Spanish soil so imagine the feeling. The weather as well, windy, cold and wet conditions. But he did recovered in the 3rd, so he advances and will be facing his fellow Spaniard next, J. Munar. Both of my initial handicap bets are covered.

I believe we will see a complete roster at the tournament. Yeah, I think so, too. Wimbledon want to look like they are taking a stand against Russia, but they will want the top players there, including of course Medvedev. But the biggest reason I suspect is their existing legal commitments to the ATP that ranking is the only criterion they use to determine who plays. Wimbledon will not want to get into a legal fight over this... we will surely see Medvedev playing. Edit: and is the timing of this relevant? They are announcing it now, rather than on the eve of the tournament. This leaves plenty of time for the ATP to point out the legal obligation, then for Wimbledon to protest a bit and then grudgingly say "Okay, they can play. We tried our hardest to stop them, but ultimately our hands were tied by contractual obligations".

But this is also complete bollocks. These players don't play for their countries, they play for themselves. Russia gets literally nothing if Medvedev wins Wimbledon. I'm really annoyed by politics constantly meddling with sports, why would Medvedev have to say anything? He is not a politician nor a soldier that is attacking anybody. So frustrating, first the Covid bullshit, now this. Let sport be sport.

the second set played by the Spanish was disastrous from all points of view, indeed unwatchable. Also Djokovic should not have have commented on this as he’s already facing scrutiny due to his vaccination stand, and I wonder if he’ll face any punishment for his comments.

An article in Italian newspaper referred to the "alleged embarrassment of the Windsor family in having Russian athlete to be rewarded". Actually this is the first tournament that made this kind of decision. I don't think there will be any consequences for Djokovic's statements. certainly an uncomfortable opinion (the same also in his Country) but there is no reason for a sanction. And then after the vaccine issue, he has already been sanctioned...

TBH I think banning Russian and Belarussian players is a bit over the top, they are individual sports people who dont actually play for their countries. I also think most of the russian players have voiced their comdemnation of the war to some degree. As an aside I was surprised to see at the prize giving ceremony at Monte Carlo they played the national anthems of the winning players, I think its the nly tournament to do that?

Emma Raducanu has won back to back matches for the first time in a while, in her first proper tournament on clay, and has now reached the quarter final stage, where she will play... Swiatek!
I'm English so of course want Raducanu to win, but it seems hugely improbable, this one looks like it could easily end up with Swiatek winning 6-0 6-0.

If you really think she could win 6-0 and 6-0, it might be worth looking up a bet there. I think you'll be pretty rich if that actually happens. 6-0, 6-0 are results that you rarely see. or you must have placed the number 1 against a qualification for example. But even then, a game is usually won. Or there must be an injury.

Djokovic is very critical that Russians and Russians are banned from the upcoming tournament in England, at Wimbledon. But who is he to stand up for that? Precisely the player who refused to be vaccinated and who through all sorts of detours still tried to participate in a certain tournament while he knew very well that it was simply not allowed. It will be a hassle that players from Russia are not admitted, because they always have very strong delegations in general.

Even if you have minor injury you will forfeit rather than stand on turf embarrassing yourself and risking even more serious injury. Raducanu has strong shots and I feel like she will get few games for sure but probably not gonna cover handicap. This is first season she even plays on clay so Swiatek is enormous favorite. Perfect match to skip, better opportunities elsewhere.

Anyone watching Serbia Open? Djokovic is really struggling a lot on clay and at home court,he was two times really close to losing against his own countryman. But with this two hard wins i think he can win the tournament with Thiem getting knocked out aswell

Eventually won his match against Kecmanovic, losing the first set, so he marches on the semis and will face Karen Khachanov. Same with Tsitsipas on Barcelona, the match was suspended, won the first game, easy but have a hard time on the second set, and then come back strong in the 3rd set to defeat Ivashka.
